After their years of public service, these soldiers were routinely displaced, frozen in time along with society’s worst offenders. The initiative was meant to be the ultimate solution, maintaining peace and prosperity throughout the planet, but it didn’t work. Distant is part of the Soldier Novellas, set after the events of Displaced.

Hailing from Seattle, J.F. Slade attended the University of Washington, where she initially developed her love of writing. She then embraced her love of education and earned a science teaching credential from the University of California in Irvine. She now lives in the Seattle area with her husband and son, where she is a teacher and writes part-time.
