A brief but engaging, mother-daughter bonding thriller. Is the mom insane, projecting her endless fears on her daughter? Or is something else going on? The acting makes this story come to life, definitely worth the listen.
This was an excellent audio production and well worth reading. The characters were fun and interesting in the format worked extremely well. My only criticism is that whoever wrote the description really spoiled a lot of the plot. My wife didn't read the description just listening it after I had selected it and got a lot more fun experience being surprised than I did after reading the description and knowing a bit too much of what is coming. Sadly it's gonna be unlikely that you would read this review before reading this description so I can't literally recommend that you're not read the description. I'm only that the recognize the description gives way too much away.
A short story told by voice-mails and phone conversations from an Indian mother and daughter. A great idea on what could happen if one tries to avoid Karma. It plays on the idea that if one commits suicide to avoid their fate, they are reborn to the same set of circumstances to face it again; what would happen to someone who was murdered? Could have made this a long story, a full novel, but this is another Audible original that is told like a stage play. The ending was decent but the confrontation was a lot of loud shuffling and yelling, no description of what actions were tKing place. Had to keep in the mindset of someone tapping these phones.
3.5-4 stars, hard to rate these not-a-book things. Won't be going toward my reading goal as well, but still was an interesting tale.
This really had the feel of an old school radio play, told through phone conversations and voice mail messages. Entertaining characters and a story that takes a tragic, frightening turn. Very well done.
I liked the familial connections and the eeriness surrounding this story. The performance was particularly well done! The phone call style with all the different voices really gave an edge to this tale.
I actually really enjoyed this. It is only available on audio. It is a short story told only from voicemail and voice messages. We all want to be safe and have our happily ever after, but sometimes life and superstitions don't allow that.
I loved the cast and production on this one. Two years ago I watched the 2020 adaptation of Evil Eye, but I so much enjoyed listening to the book much better.
Quick listen in between books. I had to get used to the story being told by phone calls, and stop checking my phone for an incoming call lol. This was a good story with a definite twist. listen on!
Evil Eye was a fun, quick listen. Shorter than a movie, but packed a better punch. I wasn't initially sure where the story was going, but I loved the mother-daughter interactions. I loved the way I learned about necessary information throughout. The only thing I will say is that I found the climax to be, well, anticlimactic. BUT I still recommend this listen. It was creepy, sweet, and all-around a good time.
