One spunky heroine, four magical men... how could this dream possibly go wrong?
Winter in Chicago is the perfect time for a mini pity party. Annie Chambers hates snow, her job sucks, and getting laid? Ha! In her dreams. When she slips on a patch of ice, opens her eyes on a tropical beach, and meets the blue-green eyes of a beautiful… merman?... she’s positive she’s dreaming. Or suffering the world’s best concussion.
As long as she’s hallucinating, she figures she might as well enjoy it while she can. And this dream lays it on… thick. What woman wouldn’t feel sexy under the heated gazes of not one, but four men who worship her body like a goddess? What woman wouldn’t feel inspired to be as bold as she’s always wanted to be?
Delphon, Rion, Aethan, and Keph are as magical as the world they live in. Yet this world isn’t perfect. A strange sickness is sweeping through the people, and when Annie discovers a magical ability of her own that can help, it attracts the wrong kind of attention.
Suddenly Annie’s dream isn’t just reality, it’s a nightmare — and the four men who love her will sacrifice everything to save her from an ancient evil that wants her dead.
On her way to work, the female protagonist, Annie, drops her cell phone and she cannot figure out how to pick it up off the ground. While she stands there dithering, someone accidentally kicks the phone and now she can’t figure out how to walk over to it or pick it up. Then it gets knocked into an alley where she is too afraid to pick it up. When she falls into an alternate dimension, all she thinks is “I love the beach” before toddling off to have sex with the first person she sets eyes on.
Kiss of the Goddess, much like Tessa Cole's other two series, is a fast-paced and action-packed reverse harem romance. Once you get past the exposition-heavy first few pages, the book draws you in and takes you for a wild ride!
Although most of what we learn about Annie is told to us from the beginning, I found her character pretty relatable. She works a high demand job, is burnt out, and just needs a good vacation where she's treated like a goddess by a handful of super hot guys.
Tessa Cole is a great world builder and this series is no exception. Annie goes from walking the cold windy streets of Chicago to tripping into another world full of sun and sandy beaches. Everyone in this new world, including the guys, are all creatures inspired by greek mythology but are unique individuals and each species seems to have its own distinct society. Some of the guys are species that have three different forms, for example, Aethan can shift between a horse, a satyr (with the bottom half being horse instead of goat), and a regular human form.
For me, this is one of those books where I picked it up and before I realized it I had finished the it and I am really looking forward to the rest of the trilogy. The ending is technically a cliff-hanger, but a merciful one. It wrapped up the main drama going on in this book but gave a good look into what will be the main conflict in the next instalment of the trilogy.
I'm not sure if I liked this or not. On the one hand, Annie is that type of dumb heroine that I just want to slap some sense into. She falls into another realm while chasing her phone (seriously, how hard is it to just pick up a fallen phone) and immediately wants to jump every hot guy she meets. There are several signs that this is not a dream but she ignores them all in favor of declaring herself a sex Goddess and demanding the guys ravish her. Then she takes them back to her realm and gets mad when they make mistakes and embarrass her.
On the other hand, this was kind of a fun tongue in cheek sort of paranormal romance, once I stopped taking it seriously. I doubt that's what the authors intended but I found it to be ironically humorous when I decided to just let go and laugh at how ridiculous the book was. Basically, if you approach this as a parody, it's actually pretty hilarious.
I'm undecided if I want to read the rest in the series but I did finish it so I'll give it 3.5 stars.
I enjoyed the author's other series so I was excited to see what her take would be on Greek mythology in this new series. The main character is having a terrible day when she lands in a mythical world full of fantastical beings. The handsome men seem too good to be true and call her a goddess so she assumes she's dreaming. However, it soon becomes apparent that the world and the mysterious illness spreading in it are too real, and soon it's not just this magical world in danger, but hers too. Luckily, she has a new power and the help of several hunky, mythological men to help. Full of cultural misunderstandings, adventure, and some steamy-ness, this book is a fun and interesting start to a new series. I did detract a star though due to the cliffhanger ending that ended the story in what I felt like was an odd spot. Still, I'll be happy to read the next book.
This book as with Tessa’s other series was non-stop drama from start to finish. One minute I had started the book and before ai knew I had finished without putting it down. I loved the main FMC - she was a hardworking woman who felt she didn’t belong and whose family and ex didn’t believe in her or support her but wanted her to toe the line and give up on her dreams. She stumbles into another world one morning where nothing had been going right for her. She meets several mythological men who believe her to be a goddess which she does not refute because she believes it is a dream. What ensues is hilarious although there are serious elements to the story between the FMC and her “men”. I can’t wait to read the next book.
A reverse harem story is bound to have sex. Or conversations about sex. This story is crude. 60 pages in and there isn’t one page free from a conversation about the side or shape of one of the men’s members. Or talk about graphically having sex. It’s just grating. There is absolutely no plot. For how much the authors write about sex there isn’t actually any sex (to that point). The men are just two dimensional and the female lead just isn’t likable.
This book was just not it for me. At all. This is 100% not a book I normally read and that’s completely fine because I read whatever sounds interesting. This book just made no sense to me. Most of it was about this girl wanting to have sex with these paranormal creature men or wanting to have a fivesome with them. I feel like every second everyone was just talking about how bad they wanted to sleep with each other. It was over kill. The actual plot wasn’t great and I just didn’t care for it. It got 2 stars instead of 1 because it was easy to read and quick to get through.
The world portrayed in Kiss of the Goddess is beyond fascinating and filled with all sorts of creatures you expect to find in your dreams. The FMC was completely relatable and absolutely hilarious. The guys were a true variety and utterly swoon worthy. With unexpected powers manifesting and a battle against an unknown sickness, I'm hooked. I'm so curious to see what will happen next!
This is a fun and rather silly, though incredibly hot at times, RH. I wouldn’t say it’s PNR… but maybe? It’s another realm where she gains powers, but then it’s back here again. Overall, it’s funny, a touch cringey, and just this side of adorable.
I was looking for a good Greek or Roman god or goddess series and decided to give this a shot. I have to say I wasn’t a fan. The story just never made any sense to me. The world building just wasn’t there and it was hard to follow exactly what the point was.
I got this book for free in a “stuff you kindle day” event. This book is weird, not going to lie. But I’m intrigued? It’s funny and I’m liking the characters so far. Even though the plot is taking kind of a weird turn, I think I’ll read the next book. It’s a quick read.
