4 Letting go of the Past Stars

We all have things we carry with us, whether we want to or not. They can be harsh words said to a loved one which you have no way to take back...Or they can be actions you either did and were sorry for or worse... actions you didn't do and now it is too late...
The weight of all the emotions tied to these types of things can cripple a person's life....make them be distant and never reveal their fears...make them put up walls of pretend...that everything is A-Ok and be the life of the party.... be anything but who they really could be if they let all of the guilt and sorrow go.

Take Me, Cowboy by Maisey Yates tackles all of those issues plus a few others in this book and does it with a sure hand and ease.
This is part of a series, yet can be read as a stand-alone too.

I was taken from the set up of our "tomboy" gal, Anna, being teased once again by her brothers of her not being able to get a date for a big charity event. Anna was basically raised by her brothers as mom left the family when she was little. Dad was a man who didn't know how to handle a little girl, so Anna took on the need to be just like her brothers... she would see the only way to connect with her dad was through his working on cars and showing her how to fix them. As she got older, it translated to her own love of mechanics and she now has opened a large vehicle repair shop for the town...a find a need and fill it deal. For her mind loved the figuring out of puzzles...and tractor engines and the like were just the thing.

What wasn't just the thing was girly stuff. Anna was a straight talker and never had any positive girl role models. She only had rough and tough brothers whose way of showing affection was to tease the crap out of her. So when she had her one dating/sex experience in high school with a "quick-draw" partner... she didn't hold back and all of the school knew it...causing no guy willing to approach her...after all, they were scared she would joke about them too. Anna's experience was so bad... she couldn't figure out what all the fuss was about and over the years she did way better taking matters into her own hands, anyway.

But when her brothers teased and bet her she couldn't get a date for this event, her gander was up and she took it. Now she is stuck. She is at the local hangout and in a terrible mood. What was she thinking...She was looking for her friend Sam and got his brother instead...Chase. The secret crush of her life. Her very best friend. There he was chatting up a cute blond... her hands all over him and it would only be a matter of hours and Anna knew the blond would be in Chase's arms tonight.

Chase was the main attraction of the town's women. Tall, strong, charming and fun. He could have anyone. Anna and Chase have been best friends since teen years and she never let him know of any crush feelings. Their friendship way too important to lose. Chase was there for her whenever the kids were mean...He would even watch the old-time musicals she loved... So, nope. They were besties and that was it.

And as besties, Chase came over and asked Anna why so glum...She explained how pissed she was with her brothers, the bet and how this going to the event was important for her new business. Chase listened and thought back to when he was invited to the event and blew it off. How it was right when his parents had died in the accident and his head wasn't on straight. Now he could use the opportunity to mix and mingle with all of these top businesses, get investors and promote his metal foundry and the amazing artwork Sam does. These thoughts were bouncing around in his head and the next thing he said was he would take Anna.

She looked at him and said her brothers never would accept him as a date... he is her best friend and everyone knows it. Chase, looking Anna in the eye said he would help her get girly like she had been lamenting and they could pretend they were a thing... get the town to see her with him on dates before the event and everything...Anna thought on it and wanting to show up her brothers... and deep down herself..said deal.

Chase comes up with a "Lesson Plan" and Anna is at first a little freaked by it...but the turning point for these two takes place at their first dinner at the town's "date" restaurant. Chase bought Anna an outfit which resembled all the girls he usually went out with, was shocked to see how amazing she looked out of her coveralls and when a past hook up came by their table...Anna furious and feeling jealous, ups and kisses Chase to lay claim to her territory.

That sets off fireworks for the both of them...Neither of them was prepared for the intense reaction and need coursing through their bodies and mind. The world stopped; they were not aware of anyone or place and only their mouths together.

Coming home there was the usual defense of joking and banter but with a bit of an undercurrent of "What the Hell" between them. Both didn't know what to do...and left it there at the door.

This tale was surprising in its depth and honesty about feelings of abandonment and fear of feeling that pain again. There wasn't a false move or cheesy part for me. It had all the sexy times (smokin' hot, by the way) with discover for the both of them; her with little experience and him with actually caring and feeling for the first time. What I was so thrilled about was the inner strength of Anna. When she realized what she wanted out of life and from Chase- she was willing to stand tall and take whatever consequences would happen. She was fearless and not like other romance books. I admired her. Chase came to the realization of what was holding him back and when it all came together...these two would stop at nothing to get their HEA.

I read the first book of another Yates series, Part Time Cowboy, and found the writing engaging and smart. Ms. Yates has proven to me, she is not a one trick pony by any means. This new series is layered with fully formed characters and when she takes on a new one... she goes all in.

I'm a real sucker for the whole friends-to-lovers trope, so this book was an automatic read for me. While I did enjoy this one and really liked Anna, I wasn't very fond of Chase. I found his views or ideas on relationships and women in general off-putting. Not offensive per se but cringey. Like I want to slap some sense into him sometimes. The book suggests that he learned a valuable lesson about it but I personally am not sure.

Anna saved the book for me. She realized that even if she changes her appearance, she can't change who she is inside and that's totally fine. I liked how she puts Chase in his place.

Overall, still a good read but could have been better.

Netgalley for and honest review.

3.5 rating.

This was a fairly good story. Anna is a tomboy with some protective brothers. She runs a repair shop and loves what she does. She not really interested in relationships and all that comes with it. But when her brother give her a hard time about a up coming Galla and whether she will have a date or not, Anna proceeds to assure them she will. She's miffed at the teasing she receives from her brothers and is determined to prove them wrong.

Anna is contemplating her problem at the Ace's bar when she spot's her best friend, Chase. He joins her and she proceeds to share her dilemma. Chase comes through like the great friend he is and offers to help Anna out. But they know that they have to make it convincing to her brothers and the town people so they decide to stage some date nights.

What unfolds from here is Chase and Anna believing they are acting or putting on a show, but in reality new horizons are being explored by both. Chase brings out a side of Anna that has been buried deep and Anna in turn touches a part of Chases heart he never thought could be touched.

These two had some nice moments and it was fun to watch their relationship unfold. The sparks that they set off in each other and some hot chemistry ensued for sure.

This was a good read. The I liked both characters, but chase more so then Anna. She I found somewhat of a contradiction. She seemed to transform to quickly and pretty dramatically. Love Maisey Yates but this to me wasn't as good as some of her other books. Pacing to me at times was somewhat off and slow at some spots.

Maisey's books have become a go to when I need some fluff or a palate cleanser. I really enjoyed the other cowboy series, so I was eager to what was next.

I like Anna and Chase. I love the BFF to more plot line and this one was fun. I loved that he was teaching her to flirt and "act like a woman" and it completely backfired. Reading them try to figure out what was going on was amusing.

There was a touch of over dramatics, but overall, it was a cute, quick read. Just what I was looking for.

Yeah. So sometimes a accidental blowjob happens between best friends and it's...hella awkward after. Such is the case of Chase and Anna. 15 years of friendship, a bet, lessons on how to be a girl, a fiery temper and, well, an I'm-proving-a point accidental blowjob...sure changed things up for Chase and Anna. Talk about an eye opener!

The quick of it is that Anna and Chase have been besties since...ever. And they've never crossed that line into more but Anna's brother's have bet her she can't get a date to a big gala and in her attempts to prove them wrong Chase comes to her rescue. He needs an invite to that gala so it's rather perfect. They just have to make it look like they're dating so her brothers don't think it's a fake gala date. And this...this is where things get a spot messy and deliciously complicated, too.

OMG yall. These two!

First. The heroine's name is Anna. So she's pretty bad ass right there. Plus...she's a large machinery mechanic. I mean. Fierce! She's one of the guys though so all things girlie? Totally out of her league and that's a problem when you're looking for a fancy date to a gala. Hmm.

And Chase is, well, he's a man whore and confused as all hell about his sudden reaction to his best friend. He's funny, sexy, sweet. Total crush material and oh he would make you want to pinch him if he was your best friend. lol

I just loved them both and man they were so good together! I mean. Once they got through the brutally awkward "omg my best friend's cock was just in my mouth" moments. lol I loved that they were best friends. They know so much about each other just...not in this area so there were all kinds of discoveries which was fun to watch happen--and crazy steamy too once they realized they had some actual sparks happening and she decided it was time for her to amp up her experience when it came to all things nekkid and he was gonna help her out with that. It was sweet and funny and, yeah, awkward as their relationship changed but omg it was just so good!

There's not too much other than the romantic discoveries and a few moments of dealing with issues from the past--hang ups from their families and childhoods--but it was wonderful and satisfying. Plus little glimpses of potential future heroes...total win.

All in all, Yates crafted a lovely romance that'll warm the heart and give ya some nice little tingles along the way.

It's like the OW said towards the end, 'you're welcome to my leftovers'. She says this to Anna by thw way, as Chase is seated across from her saying nothing to support her. He just lets his ex bimbo talk to the woman he loves like that.
And that's what Chase felt like... Leftovers.

He doesn't even get tested for STDs before sleeping with Anna.

I like Anna. But Chase was a coward til the bitter end. After Anna goes to the Ball alone. After his cheerleader ex makes fun of her at the Ball... Too late for this reader.

I know M.Y. wanted Anna to show the reader that she was strong enough to go to the ball on her own, but it was so unromantic. And for me she had already proved herself. Why does she have to prove herself publicly and suffer humiliation. But Chase doesn't?!?!

This book sucks.

Safety is what you'd expect, technically safe, but not satisfying.

A second half story for me, but wow - what a second half! Friends-to-lovers romance with a lot of spicy heat and a heroine who is brave, vulnerable and a total-effing badass during The Black Moment. Less enamored with the hero's man-whore past and the slight fetishization of the heroine's lack of experience (she's not a virgin but might as well be) - but that ending, wow, totally elevates this to next level. Also, Yates is so, so good in the short contemporary format.

Anna is a heavy machinery mechanic and she's been invited to a gala for local businesses. The problem is that she's not girly, doesn't own a dress, and has brothers who have bet her she can't get a date!

As she meets up with her friends at a bar, she complains to Chase, one of her best friends. Chase wants to go to this gala for his ranch, so his solution is simple. They'll go together. For Anna it's not so simple. Her brothers will never believe it. So they pretend to date so it's more believable. But when they're pretending, the line between real and make-believe quickly becomes blurred.

This was an awesome friends-to-lovers story. If you enjoy sexy, flirty, and fun romances, then you need this series in your life. This series is becoming my go-to when I need a fun and sexy read. Imagine a Luke Bryan song come to life, and you've got Copper Ridge.

Friends to lover storyline + hot sexy times between the couple + sexy cowboy + plenty of emotional up and downs + plenty of yummy angst + Maisey Yates= a winner and a new favorite of mine that I will read multiple times and never get bored by it. In fact I will enjoying reading it over and over. Loved it.

Nothing could go wrong with this book. As soon as I heard that Yates was going to do a friends to lovers book, I knew I had to immediately get it followed by immediately read it. I was so excited about it and it did not disappoint in anyway. And combine that with sexy cowboy chase and I was sold. I loved everything about it. It was just so good.

My favorite genre in romance is the friends to lovers trope and I wish there were more stories like that on the market because I really enjoy them. Why? Because the set up is there as well as the conflict is deeply rooted and keeping them apart. Mainly they do not want to screw up the friendship. It's always fun to see it all that play out along with the simmering tension building beneath the surface, and it is usually so delicious. Another reason I love these stories is because they have a relationship and is a foundation to build a romance upon. They have trust between them so it wouldn't be a stretch that things would bloom and grow into a deep seated love for another. It's believable and I love seeing them get their happily ever after with their friend. I love seeing best friends fall in love.

That was no exception in the case of Anna and Chase. They have been friends for 15 years and always been there for one another through all the ups and downs life threw at them. They knew each other well yet kept things hidden from one another. Mainly their feelings and attraction to one another. Anna loved him for so long but refused to contemplate a romantic relationship for fear he would reject her while Chase feared getting in deep with her and then losing her like he lost people he loved in his past. So that back history was there and it was great to see their friendship then go into the passionate realm then into a deep loving relationship which really had all along but feared to grasp at it for fear of possible pain to come.

What made this issue come to the forefront? A bet. Yes, Anna's bet the tomboy that she wouldn't be able to get a date to a charity gala that she was invited. Being that she suppressed her feminine side she knew getting a date wouldn't be easy and for her it was downright depressing. One night at the bar where she hung out with Chase she told him of her current dilemma. Chase wanted in the charity event for business immediately agreed to help her by faking a relationship between them. And he vowed to teach her to be a woman so she would able to find a date in the future. Let the fun begin.

Their passion/chemistry was through the roof with a lot of the tension being built up over time. It was always there though more clearly on Anna's side than his. But when they finally let go and gave into it. Watch out because nothing was stopping them after that it was very steamy, steamy. It was so good. Loved everything about those scenes. Holy cow.

The amount of sexy time scenes were more than I was expecting not that I am complaining about that, and I understand why this was a Desire not a Presents, which is the aerie that Yates usually writes for. They had so much heat between them I thought the book might catch fire. Wowie. It was just so hot especially since that tension between them finally got released. I absolutely loved the first time scene because there was a perfect balance of the physical and the emotional. Chase was so tender with Anna knowing that was exactly what she needed at the time and he gave it to her. Really all the scenes were a perfect blend of passion and tenderness as well as that real sense of connection that they had with one another. It was clear that it was way more than just the physical. But it was still hot every time they were tearing each other's clothes off. My temperature rose right along with characters. It was so good.

I loved Anna and Chase both individually and as a couple. They just really worked well together I thought. My heart broke for Anna and all the emotional baggage she had to go through before coming out on the other side. She touched my heart. He did too, though not as deeply as she did. I hurt with both. I felt for both and I was rooting for them until the very end. They were meant to be. No question about it. They were great.

This book worked for me on so many levels. I thought it would when I first read about it knowing it would hit all my criteria, and it so did. I am so happy with this book I can't even put it into words. I loved it and haven't a bad word to say about it. It ticked all my boxes that's for sure.

Bravo Maisey Yates once again for writing another winner. Can't wait to read about Chase's brother Sam and who he gets paired up with. Unfortunately I have to wait all the way until November to see. Guess I'll have to read the other Copper Ridge novels instead.

Highly recommend for lovers of the friend to lover trope as well as Maisey Yates fans. You will not be disappointed. I will definitely be rereading this book again sometime in the future. And I will throughly enjoy diving into the romance of Anna and Chase once more.

Take Me, Cowboy
By Maisey Yates

NetGalley, Arc was received for an honest review.

‘It has started with a dress and high heels and ended with an orgasm in her shop.’

WOW! I wasn’t expecting such an awesome Friends to Lovers story!!!

I adore this genre, I loved reading about an established friendship turning into more I opened this thinking it would take me a couple days to read, but I devoured it in a few hours. I couldn’t stop to do anything I just wanted to keep reading.

“Right” she said, her tone hard. “I get it. They flip their hair and scrunch their noses and twitch at all appropriate times. They’re like small woodland creatures who only emerge from their burrows to satisfy your every sexual whims”

Anna, a successful mechanic who owns her own shop makes a silly bet with her older brothers that she could get a date to the Galla. When she tells her best friends Chase this he sees it as an opportunity for himself to be recognised in the community. Anna and Chase have been friends for 15 years, have been through so much together, grief, laughter, pain, growing up with each other as their safety net, but no romance… but then it all changes in a flick of a switch. Can they be more?

“It’s like walking into a candy store and being told I can have whatever I want. Restraint is not on the menu”

For it to be believable they would have to be seen together as a couple around town, they go on “dates” that always leads them to do something else, I love that Anna she is so real and honest, and Chase well he’s gorgeous. When one thing leads to another they are both sucker punched to realize they actual have more than feelings for each other than just being best friends. I adored both characters, they have funny banter with each other and it is HOT, wow so hot, Sexy scenes!

There Chemistry as friends and as lovers is on point, I couldn’t get enough I loved everything about this story.

“I’m going to do a lot more than look,” he said, dropping down to his knees, “and I’m going to do a hell of a lot more than touch.” He reached out, sliding his hands around her ass, drawing her forward, bringing her up toward his mouth.”

44% just saying! Be ready for some, holey hot sticks this is an awesome moment!!!

“Fear is stupid. And it’s strong”

This story is Fun, Hilarious, and Sexy best friends to lover’s story. I would recommend to everyone.

5 Stars all the way, everything I loved, #angfriendly all the way!

I didn't realize when I requested the ARC from Netgalley that this was part of the HQ Desire line which made it a category romance rather than full length one from HQN. So I wonder if that was part of my problem with it; that I felt the theme to be rather outdated and the characters didn't fully come alive as the previous Copper Ridge trilogy I read from HQN.

I liked the friends-to-lovers theme, and I definitely amped up with the fact that Anna was a female mechanic. BUT, I totally felt disappointed with "Anna must act like a woman" angle. Nowadays, reading about how a woman needs to be "a woman" with how she looks, how she dresses, or how she flirts in order to attract a man is no longer giving me satisfaction. I'm over that. So the whole plot just rubbed me the wrong way.

At least in the end Anna showed Chase that she wanted more and refused to back down. I loved her for that -- and the porcupine pajama ^^

Anna Brown hasn't ever really thought of herself as a woman. She is an auto mechanic, good at what she does, which is mostly fixing tractors for the ranchers in her community of Copper Ridge, Oregon. But she's been invited to a big party and needs a date, something her older brothers are betting she'll never have. She decides to win that bet. But how can she, when she's hardly ever dated anyone?

Instead of stressing, she asks her best friend, Chase McCormick, who just happens to be a guy. They've been friends for 15 years, watching movies together, eating popcorn together, but not dating, not dancing, not being boy-girl friends. Chase dates a lot, has bedded tons of women. He knows what she needs to learn how to do, but will he take her under his wing?

He agrees and soon realizes that what he wants is being friends with benefits, not just a friend who isn't affected when he sees Anna in her pj's with an ice cream pint in her hand. What starts out as a few teaching sessions becomes a white-hot sexy exploration that forces Anna to realize what she's been hiding for years. She loves Chase, not just as a friend, but also as way more than the beneficiary of his sexual prowess. Trouble is, when she tells him so, he runs like the scared rabbit he is--until he... sorry. You'll have to read to find out what happens next.

Maisey Yates brings her reader a heartwarming best-friends-to-lovers romance with a My Fair Lady aspect in Take Me Cowboy.

"It’s a penis, Chase, not the Sistine Chapel."

Best friends for fifteen years, Anna and Chase have a solid friendship that has seen them be there for one another through their toughest times. Both endearing, Chase is Copper Ridge's resident playboy and Anna the town's mechanic who, having been pretty much raised by her brothers, is happier in coveralls than heels. But when her brothers bet her she can't get a date for a charity event, she's determined to win and turns to her best-friend for help.

"They had opened the lid on Pandora’s box. And they couldn’t close it until they had examined every last dirty, filthy sin inside of it."

Whilst on the whole I liked the premise of this story and I liked Anna and Chase together, some of the makeover element did grate a little in terms of expectations of what is deemed makes a women beautiful; it's 2016, it's not all down to a pretty dress and a pair of heels. But that aside, this couple do bring fun, fight, banter and some sexy moments along the way.

description

My first visit to Copper Ridge certainly won't be my last; the sense of community and family-feel has me hooked and I look forward to revisiting and seeing what lies in store for the resident singletons.

Growing up without a mother and in the country can end up turning you into more one of the guys rather than the women and feminine side that you are in fact. For Anna Brown , growing up she always had just her dad and two brothers and she was the baby girl and her best friend was Chase McCormack. Anna has never been into the girly side of things but with a new mechanic business opening up, it seems that things might have to change. Especially with the West Ball coming up which will be great for business and networking. The book starts off with Anna's brothers placing a bet - that she can't get a date to the West's ball. Enter Chase McCormack, he has been Anna's friend and partner in crime since they were younger and he also is A) a Bachelor and B) a hit with the ladies unlike his twin brother Sam who is very introverted and prefers to be a loner. The two of them took over their family business when their parents died , but due to the economic change - they have been barely scraping by and Chase needs an invitation to the West's ball to drum up investors and clients for their business. So the pair of them strike a deal, if he will be Anna's date and can get her ready for the ball - he can go along as her plus one. Since the pair have to make it real, they start fake dating but what happens when they both start to feel actual "feelings of love" towards one another ? Will they both "man and woman up" and cross the road of friendship to relationships ? Or was this a deal that was going to fail from the beginning ?

Yates has a way of writing emotions that become just as real for the reader as they are for the characters. All the while, she makes romance fun with real banter and off the charts chemistry between her characters.

The relationship between the two main characters was both sweet and comical. It bordered on ridiculous at times as they treaded the waters between a lifelong friendship and their newfound escapades, yet at the same time it was always realistic. Anna’s complete and utter vulnerability combined with her rock hard personality is a compelling mix. I love how she is almost the opposite of the female stereotype on the outside, but on the inside is another story. Countered by Chase’s sizzling hot attitude and complete lack of self-restraint, these two come together in surprising ways. And their lifelong friendship just adds to it all.

Once again Yates has created a quick, fun read that really packs a punch. It’s a fantastic read as a standalone and a great addition to Copper Ridge.

This book was a page-turner for me. The chemistry was HOT, the heroine sassy and strong, and the hero sexy. For those who prefer stories to be moved along by 'events', this might not be the book for you. It revolves mainly around the emotional growth of the characters through the discovery of their feelings for one another. The sexy scenes are gripping and I'd recommend this book solely for that reason ;)

Take Me, Cowboy is one deliciously fun and sexy addition to Maisey Yates’s Copper Ridge series. I love me a big strapping cowboy with a tendency to get all scowly faced when he doesn't get what he wants. Or, in this case, when he does get what he wants. Because according to Chase McCormack, he shouldn't be having these kind of feelings for his best friend Anna Brown. And she shouldn't have started it all! Hell, they’ve been best friends for fifteen years. He could talk to her about anything. Well, maybe not the rotating door of women he’s slept with. But ever since he and his brother Sam lost their parents in an accident when Chase was just sixteen, Anna has been there for him. He wouldn't change that for the world. And if a friends to lovers thing didn't work out, well he’d lose his best friend.

Anna barely remembers the mother who walked out on her family all those years ago. Raised by her older brothers because their father had no time or affection for any of them, Anna naturally grew up mostly boy. Her job, her passion, as a heavy equipment mechanic affords no use for girlie things. However, an invitation to an important charity fundraiser is exactly the thing she needs to help promote her new business. Problem one...she needs a date. Problem two...her brothers made her a bet she’d never find one.

When Chase hears of her dilemma he offers his dating services. Problem three...it has to be an honest to God date, not a pity date with your best friend. And when Chase has the brilliant idea that they actually date...you know, so everyone will believe they're a real couple, Anna knows it's a bad, bad idea. It’s a bad, bad idea because so far she’s been successful at squashing her lustful feelings for Chase. She’s well aware that she’s not the type of girl Chase falls into the sack with. Those girls wear short skirts and tight tops and twirl their hair around their finger while looking up at him with I’m easy written all over their faces. But just once she’d like to know what it feels like to kiss him, to touch that muscled chest, to let him...you know. Anna can’t even think about it! It’s too embarrassing! She can’t make any promises if he’s taking her out on dates and being affectionate, or whatever one does on a date. Whether it's real or not.

Oh, these two! I loved Anna with her no-nonsense approach to everything. If only relationships were as easy as taking apart a tractor engine and putting it back together again. That, she knows how to do. So when Chase gives Anna lessons on how to act on a date, it's hilarious. She gets frustrated, he gets frustrated. And then Chase gets turned on. When he sees her in a dress and heels...wow. Suddenly those feelings that he might want more than friendship are pounding down the door. The build up is slow but fun. There were definitely times both characters needed some sense knocked into them, but if they didn't what fun would that be? It was just enough without going over the top.

I am a big fan of Maisey Yates’s style. She sets a casual pace with her stories yet I’m always glued to the page. The dialogue is witty and fun, tender and romantic, and has a way of resonating with me. Her heroes tend to be two steps away from curmudgeonly, but it's usually because they're trying hard to hide their feelings. Tough cowboys don't have feelings. Her heroines are down-to-earth women who have insecurities we can all relate to. They mostly speak their mind and, if they don’t at the beginning you can bet they will by the end.

3.5 Stars!

Take Me, Cowboy was a fun, friends to lovers romance full of the humor I've come to expect from a Maisey Yates book and I really enjoyed it!

Anna Brown has recently opened a repair shop and doesn't have the time nor inclination for dating. However, when her brothers bet she can't find a date for the gala for Copper Ridge's business owners, she's determined to prove them wrong. Anna knows just the person to turn to for advice, her best friend Chase McCormack. Chase wants to attend that gala and agrees to help turn Anna into a lady if she'll take him as her date. However, Chase and Anna soon find themselves fighting the attraction that's between them and must decide how to proceed while keeping their friendship in tact.

Anna is a strong woman and believes there's nothing a man can do that she can't do better. She never really had a woman for a role model and is clueless about how to act how she thinks a woman should in order to attract a man. I really liked how over the course of the book, she began to accept herself more for who she is and that she realized that changing how she looks and acts can't change who she actually is.

Chase is incredibly loyal to his family and wants to work to restore the family name to the place of honor it held before his parents died. Unfortunately that's probably the best characteristic Chase has. Chase doesn't have the best opinions on relationships or women and he grated on me a bit. He did redeem himself somewhat by the end of the story, but too little too late in my opinion.

Anna and Chase have great chemistry and there's a ton of heat between them. I like that while Chase was trying to teach Anna to act like a woman, Anna ended up flipping things around and taking charge. Friends to lovers is one of my favorite relationship tropes and I think it was very well done here. Their friendship was very believable and I enjoyed the scenes where they simply got to be with each other.

Overall, Take Me, Cowboy was a fun addition to the Copper Ridge series that could have benefited from being a bit longer to give the characters more time to develop.

Welcome back to Copper Ridge and I have to say not only do I love this series but with every story it just gets better and better!

In this story we have two best friends who end up falling in love. Anna who is a mechanic and owns her own shop makes a bet with her two brothers that she can in fact get a date to the Galla. When she tell her best friend Chase he suggests taking him.

In order for this to be believable they have to be seen around and on dates. When one thing leads to another these best friends have to decide if they can go back to being just friends or just go there separate ways. But will that be enough for them?

I just loved these two! I liked knowing that their relationship could become more. The road that Yates took them on was hot, emotional and was worth the read.

I really loved how Anna just puts herself out there even though she is scared on what could happen. I found her likable and just adored Chase was changing all because of her.

I for one can't wait for more of this series and it looks like more is to come. Chase has a brother! Yippee!

If you love best friends to lover stories as much I as I do add this to your reading list!

I enjoy reading the friends to lovers plots especially when there's a makeover involved and this was no exception, I liked this story because the h tomboy Anna needs a date for the annual gala because she made a bet with her brothers that she could easily get a date, so she asks her best friend the H Chase who she is secretly in love with and who is a love em and leave em kind of guy to pretend date her leading up to the gala and she agrees to him giving her a makeover which made Chase open his eyes to Anna and I liked how he became attracted her even if she was wearing overalls instead of a dress.
I liked the chemistry between them and I enjoyed it when she made the first move especially when it was done deliberate in front of one his ex one night stands, I liked when she proved to herself that she could look good just for herself and no one else, I liked the angst in the story and their explainations about why the way they were and I liked the ending but I think it would have been nice for an epilogue but I'm hoping there will be another story starring Chase's brother.

Full Review at: What's Beyond Forks?

I especially love when best friends become something more, and that's what we find in Anna and Chase. Their relationship is a strong one from the start. They are each other's support system. They need each other. They know they need each other. It wasn't until now that they realize they may need each other in whole other ways than they ever expected, but that's a scary thing. You don't want to lose your best friend because you tried and failed at something more. I loved they're brand of awkward as they ventured into this new territory of their relationship with all their issues and expectations.

Take Me, Cowboy by Maisey Yates. Anna Brown fixes big farm machinery. She doesn't wear dresses. She is always in coverall's and grease and dirt on her clothes. Her two brothers tease her about taking a date to the big party coming up in town. She tells her best friend Chase McCormack about her brothers teasing. Chase agrees to help her become a lady. A nice romance story.

I don't even remember when I purchased this little paperback of Maisey Yates's book ... probably from the fab Big-W 'romance reads' section, and knowing that I have a ton of Maisey Yates titles I've accumulated on my Kindle via NetGalley, she's a name I always look out for on those shelves. Because I have always known that I intend to get into reading her one day. She's beloved in the romance genre; a prolific author (with 100+ titles under her belt in a relatively short time considering she came onto the scene in 2010). I also know her background was as a mum of 3 living close to poverty in rural Oregon (where she still sets her stories, and lives) and writing for Mills & Boon basically pulled her and her husband out of hardship, and she's been very vocal about romance-publishing and her writing buying them their first house. Yes! I love a story of the matriarchy and possibility inherent to the romance industry that helps women become entrepreneurial and successful (for more, see 2015 doco 'Love Between the Covers').

So I dug this little paperback out when the need to finally delve into Maisey's backlist became too great, and this book was a great place to start! A point-of-order however; this is classified as both book six in the 'Copper Ridge' series but also the first book in the 'Copper Ridge: Desire' series which I *think* is a slight off-shoot wherein they offered two-for-one Harlequin's (my copy was 'Take Me, Cowboy' and 'Seduce Me, Cowboy' - which is No. 3 in the 'Copper Ridge: Desire' series ... confusingly)

I do want to go back and begin at the beginning of 'Copper Ridge' and for anyone slightly baffled and overwhelmed, Maisy has a helpful guide on her website; 'For New Readers' and she suggests with 'Part Time Cowboy' in the 'Copper Ridge' series.

But, anyway - 'Take Me Cowboy' is a friends-to-lovers AND dating-for-a-bet story of tomboy mechanic Anna, and her best friend (and ladies' man) Chase who both find that they need dates to an upcoming gala event ... Anna to prove to her brothers that even though she's 30 and never been in a relationship, she can most definitely pull a guy - and Chase, because he wants the town to see him as more than a one-and-done stud since he and his brother have an important business venture they intend to put forward. Anna and Chase agree to fake date in the lead-up to the gala, but deep down Anna knows she's playing with fire because she's always had more then just friends feelings for her bestie. And Chase knows he's putting his feet closet to the flames because he's always guarded his heart with empty one-night-stands and no-strings-attachments, and Anna is something very different.

I loved this set-up, it's two tropes in one and both that I love. I will say I was a little *shocked* that Maisey Yates writes steamy sex scenes. I'm not sure why, but I thought she was a 'cut to the billowing curtains' type romance writer? Huh. Pleasantly surprised to discover that's not the case, even if I also found Anna and Chase jumping into bed together a little too soon for my liking, considering all they had on the line with regards to their friendship.

This was a solid intro to Maisey Yates's books, and now I'm looking at the bounty of her backlist and *gleeful* at the idea of jumping in all over the place!
