Sienna Nealon is preparing for her new life, in a new city, with a new job, and new possibilities. But of course nothing is simple, and even a seemingly run-of-the-mill move is no exception. Because no sooner has she arrived than she faces a new threat, one seemingly targeting her. As bodies start to turn up, and things get serious, Sienna is forced to wonder: will life in her new home be any better than life at the old one?

Not sure why you would be reading a review of a book that is 44th in the series? At this point you should be so committed to the series that you'd read anything RJC puts out, including his grocery list! This is a good chapter for Sienna. Familiar friends & friendly foes abound. And the return of Swolehheart & "kittens". New storyline & future adventure hints. Loved it, can't wait for more. There will be downs, but this one had ups. Ty RJC!
I will never tire of this series. Sienna is my all time favourite character. I couldn’t put this book down and never want them to end. Brilliant series of books and if you haven’t read them you’re missing out.
Southern Comfort #44 Review 5/5 For the past 3 episodes we have seen Sienna go through phases of rebellion, hurt, denial and rejection as she faces her problems of alcohol addiction. Those who love her try to help but, it ultimately it comes down to what we all go through – change happens only when we change ourselves. Our heroine and friends after being ejected from Minnesota, find refuge in the South, the Country Western Music Capital of Nashville, Tennessee. The mayor, the governor and TBI open the door but with the conditions to clean up the Meta Human crime problem found in most large cities. Sienna can’t even rest from the move before being tested by her newest challenge. What drama then unfolds keeps us the reader glued from page to page. As with all of Robert J Crane’s mind creations, his universe keeps expanding to our benefit, someday hopefully expanding to the big screen. I love how local color, historical fauna and real locales are brought to life. Great Job 😊 Keep it up.
I love it love it love it! So Robert, do you live in Nashville or just love us? I just binge read this whole series to prep for the next book, this book, Southern Confort. It was great the first time you sent Sienna, but now she lives here! Awesome! Thankfully the next book is here and I can dive right back in but I just had to say how fun it was to read. I imagine who would play Sienna, I wonder if you've ever seen someone who fits her description. I have a friend that comes to mind. Piercing blue eyes, awkward body shape, short. I hope you change your mind someday and let this become a movie, you know, with a rider that you have full artistic control over who plays who AND that 'they' can't jack up the story line... sigh... I can only dream... in the mean time, Nashville loves you too!
Hmm. *taps chin thoughtfully* how to write this review whilst avoiding spoilery stuff....
Let me start by saying that Mr Crane has, by now, engrained a Pavlovian type response in me to Sienna's books. I am constantly expecting a certain type of response (much like Sienna) and spent a good part of this book waiting for that particular shoe to drop.
So against that baseline, the of the story was set in stark relief really. The standouts for me? Grandma and Uncle Friday. Warm and fuzzies right there.
In summary, help can be found in unusual places. The difference is whether it is accepted or not.
I think that this one ranks as one of my faves so far.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
While I've loved all of this series, I feel it's getting to be very, very repetitive.
Have to say though, I'm so glad Sienna's got her head out of the bottle and stopped whinging. I'm soooo hoping that that biatch of a Governor in Minnesota begs Sienna and her friends to come back to help with an explosion of baaaad metas - and they say a very loud NO whilst flipping her and her cronies the bird!
All in all, I did enjoy the book - like I've enjoyed the rest (and I'm no "young adult" LOL!). Maybe time to change the tune a wee bit though? Regardless, I'll still be reading the series as long as RJC churns them out!
Sienna and Crew have arrived in Nashville Tennessee, everything is full on busy with two teams flying out almost immediately and Sienna is put to work straight away.
It’s a new town in a different state and as expected there are teething pains waiting to bite back. This is Southern Comfort minus any alcohol at least it brings much needed moral support.
Another classic instalment in the everyday life of the modern superhero that is Sienna Nealon. There are a couple of brilliant cameo appearances in this one too. It’s making the extraordinary tangible that is just one of the reasons why this series is an enduring modern classic.
I just finished book 44 from The Girl in the Box. I have hung on every single chapter, every character and the depth of every story line. I have to honestly say this series has been my favorite as a senior woman who loves to read. I love the way human nature, good and bad is truthfully told. The political background is tucked into Sienna’s life bringing the storylines so close to our own reality it makes one wonder if we may be standing next to a mega on a street corner. This series is brilliant. I am excited about number 45.
Siena is finding out who she is as an alcoholic on the wagon. She is with her family and friends in TN, A state that welcomes them. She has a hell of a fight on her hands in this one, and I do wonder why these killers she is after isn't shot up with a suppression dart as soon as eyes are put upon them, but I guess that would make for a boring tale. I am looking forward to book 45!
Such another great book in this series!! I do love me some Sienna and all her snark and badassery! Uncle Friday making an appearance was totally kittens! I am curious if Harry will ever come back into her life now that shes sober and working on herself. I love that Friday was there to help and do something good for her. Dont want to give away any spoilers. If you have read up this far you have to keep going! Cant wait till the next book!
This series is great, but this one has been my favorite out of the last few. Finally, Sienna is finding some positives and growing as a person. Her life has been wild and this book gives me hope. There was a lot of drama and suspense in this book along with action and lessons. Everyt a person like me would want to read.
.....apart from being burnt beaten and pummeled of course. A new beginning, or just another disaster. Read, and find out. After becoming a drunk, losing your home, and being ostracised, is there hope of a happy ending? Plenty of metahuman action finding out.
Another fantastic adventure with The girl in the box. This time she is in my home state of Tennessee and while she isn't much for singing, she sure Rocks Nashville, with great big rocks. Another villain, another dollar, since she now works for TBI.
Been waiting for the release of Southern Comfort for some time, and it was definitely worth the wait. Mr. Crane did not disappoint with all the twists and turns... can’t wait to see what happens next...
Another win. I love the characters in this series. Mr. Cranes depiction of the characters is always spot on. I love his sense of humor and his dry wit.
Here Sienna comes to save the day! So glad Tennessee gave her a chance. She is coming along nicely. What adventures await now? May there be some peace for Sienna?
Seinna is every person, she's the worst of us and the best. I've read every girl in and out of the box books and never seen to tire of Seinna and I hope i never do.
I'll admit not a huge break, but any break is better than nothing. The girl deserves a few happy days here and there, don't you think? RJC does a fantastic job of writing once again. Kudos!!!
I am addicted to this series. The plot is great. The fast paced action never lets me down and the relationships, friendships and foreshadowing keeps me wanting more.
I have really enjoyed reading the girl in the box series. These books have it all. Hummer, warmth and of course adventure and excitement. Ready for the next book to read
Full of funny quips and adventure. Robert you are amazing I've read ever single girl in the box and girl out of the box book and will continue to do so. Great read 📚
