The beautiful, ethereal creature ran across the road on my way home one night. I nearly hit her and ended up wiping out in the process. A little dazed, I ran after her…

And found her in the woods. Dirty and cold from living on the streets for weeks—but still so breathtaking, I was sure I was dreaming her.

Delaney is deaf, scared, and on the run from her uncle.

But now that I’ve found her, I won’t let anything hurt her ever again.

She makes me feel something I’ve never felt before. This tightness in my chest causes the beast within me to snarl unless she’s beside me. She becomes my obsession, my reason to get out of bed in the morning. She makes me want to be…better. For her.

I’m never letting this girl go.

No matter who tries to take her from me.

Her Shelter was the sixth book in the Angels Halo Next Gen series by Terri Anne Browning. The series was a spin off from the original Angels Halo MC series but can be read as a stand-alone series.

Max Reid was the son of Bash and Angel (original series, book one). He was also a patched member of the MC and grew up in and around the club. He was strong, fierce, protective and alpha, just like his father. He was also one not to be messed with and easily feared.

Delaney had not grown up in or around the MC, and although she was a mystery, her story began unraveling in previous books until we finally met her in Her Shelter. As her story was unfolding we learned she was deaf, she had a tough childhood and had reason not to trust anyone.

I loved how this story unfolded. No spoilers so no elaboration, but Browning included a suspenseful plot while building the bond between Max and Delaney. It definitely wasn’t a slow burn - there was nothing slow about it, so be ready for insta-love and a fast build. As for Max, I enjoyed seeing his softer side. It was definitely a side that others hadn’t seen. But typical for the MC, when he loved, he loved hard.

All in all, it was a quick and entertaining read that had all the good feels mixed in with some bossy, over protective, alphas. What’s not to love? Up next is the long awaited story of Nova and Ryan in Heartless Savage and I totally can’t wait!

Horrified

DNF at 72%. I can’t believe I just read that. I am shaking and idk if its because im mad, horrified or what. I have too much to scream about at the moment, but I can’t not leave a review and let others buy the book and suffer.

I’ve read some dark books. I’ve read some not-so-well written books. I’ve read some books where I disliked how a scene was handled.. but this book is an unrealistic, painful mess.

Maybe the intensity of the characters emotion is supposed to be romantic, but ripping off the deaf, scared crying vulnerable girls’ clothes off so she can’t run away to the shelter and without any consent impaling her (for lack of a better description) is not the way to handle this scene. And the fact that the girl LIKES it?? Despite being in tears and scared? And calling someone to make sure this vulnerable girl won’t be accepted at the shelter so that the love-interest is the only person she can possibly turn to?

In this book, sex “solves” everything. When it doesn’t, then lying, turning away from deaf character and making sure deaf character can’t hear or see whats going on is a sure way of making sure communication is nonexistent. Also, lying and letting vulnerable character ASSUME things both good and bad because.. because why??

There is no balance between the characters. There are so many problems with the scenes, romance and situations.

The book could have been good. It has the set up for an interesting plot and characters, instead it leaves me horrified.

All I am reading is an abuse/manipulation of the vulnerable at every turn all in the name of “romance”.

Love the trope of older guy rescuing younger, on the run innocent- all of those swoony, knight to the rescue feels!

This is heavy on the instalove- which the characters seem to be a bit sardonically aware of, apparently it’s a family trait. I also appreciated having a heroine who is deaf - it added a different dynamic to the way she communicates and connects with the hero, and the way Max prioritizes including her and her needs makes him even extra sexy. These two have a sweet and steamy chemistry- possessive, protective but sensitive alpha and an innocent, sincere, and resilient but softer heroine.

I’ve not read the entire series - and easily read this as a standalone, though with the large menagerie of cousins and family orbiting the story, I think I’d have liked those parts better had I known/cared about those characters.

Despite the instalove, I enjoyed the romance - but the side plot fell a bit flat for me. We gave all this domestic bonding and family moments but we know the story is working towards a dangerous moment for our heroine and the revelation about our hero’s violent MC job- but then the ending just felt too anti-climatic and under developed.

But all in all, a fun and fast read- especially if you love instalove or the rescue dynamic.

My rating: 4 stars

What I liked: I really liked Max(H) and Delaney(h) and how sweet they were together. I also loved how Max was so protected of her. It’s also refreshing that we got an h that isn’t perfect and the author keeps her that way.

What I didn’t like: I was really shocked what Kelli said to Max when she found out about Delaney being with him (I think she forgets that her man is part of the same MC and they are really great guys)

How hot was it: 4 out 5

Triggers: h’s parents are killed by an explosion and h loses her hearing. Also, h’s aunt and uncle are into sex trafficking and try to take h.

Final thoughts: I like this series and always like that we get a glimpse of the other couples and how they are doing (especially Raven). I can’t wait to read Nova and Ryan’s book.

What I expected and what I read are two different things. Some of the things you should know are that you should read these books in order there are not stand-alone books because there are characters that are not explained but just a given a brief into of what the relationship is between the characters. I did not read it in order, I pick up the book because it was interesting.
What I liked about this author was how she wrote Delaney, but at the same time, I believe she missed a couple of issues. For instance, even though Delaney is of legal age she shouldn't feel like she a run away from home but at the same time, I understand that she is running away from an uncle who is known to sell underage girls but it seems like she does not know that, she only knows that her uncle is not someone who can be trusted with her welfare. I loved how the author made Delaney read lips to understand those who couldn't sign. This book is not meant to be read as a stand-alone so certain parts may have been lost to me, like the connections of the underground world. While the love story is instant, I love the communication from this book, Delaney can only understand words because she is deaf, but because of this she is missing the tones but she makes it up by trying to read body language. It may not always be the case where Delaney can read the body language and her assumption may be correct but there were other times where the body language and what was being said was not interpreted right.
I do recommend this book but make sure you read the books in order because the book is better when you understand the connections and context rather than struggle to understand how each character is connected to whom and so on. While the story is sweet there was some unexpected plot twist the author threw my way because I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING!

Fans of the series who are jonesn' for a speed of light insta-love romance with a Hero who is 110% completely devoted to his woman will devour this book! Max was the stuff swoony-but-bad-boy dreams are made of. Intense, hot, protective, caring, faithful... Delaney aka Treasure was one lucky chick.

For me, the Kelli connection was kinda out-there & the Nova/Ryan thing had me asking a million questions but on the bright side... There was no shortage of sex on these pages & there was ZERO angst to deal with for this couple. (Thank gods because I'm still reeling from Luca & Violet fiasco from earlier on in the Next Gen books.)

Anxious to see what happens next for the Angels Halo & Rockers characters. Fingers crossed it has the perfect blend of drama, sizzle & kick-a** times!

Delaney is deaf, on the run from her uncle and living on the streets. Max is part of the Angels Halo MC and almost crashes into Delaney as she’s walking down the street. One look at her and Max knows he’s found his treasure. When Delaney’s past comes back to haunt her, Max will do everything in his power to keep her safe.

Max is bada**, but definitely shows his softer side with Delaney. He’s the right amount of alpha and sweet. I liked that Max was fluent in ASL, as well as some of his family members. Delaney was a sweetheart and I just loved them together.

I absolutely loved this book. Terri Anne Browning is a new to me author and I couldn’t put this book down. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

This was a nice read.. usually i don't mind the fast everything in novella'a BUT this being a full length book i expected to have a little build up! I liked the plot but i wished was better than this. 😥
And... how convenient is the fact that almost everyone know sign language... 😣🙄 nice but..come one i think this would've been way better if he and the others learnt it later on...
At times i didn't like how whiny and not confident she was.. overall i didn't regret reading it , i just wished more build up.

I loved it! Max was J/P and OTT he will do anything to protect his "treasure" !
I have been obsessed lately by this trope ( h is a runner or a homeless and H rescued her and takes care of her ) .
You can read the book as a standalone , I didn't feel I was missing anything for not reading the other books.

Loved the twist of having a deaf heroine. Great way to make sure they need to communicate to each other.

Lots of MC action in this one. Great addition to the series!

First things first; I love the cover of this book!
Her shelter is the sixth book in the ‘’Angels halo MC; Next generation’’ series. I devoured this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters loveable and the storyline enjoyable. Delaney is an eighteen-year-old deaf homeless girl. She is on the run from her evil aunt and uncle. After weeks on the street, she literally runs into Max. Max wants Delaney as soon as he meets her but will she give love a chance?
The chemistry between Delaney and Max is clear to see and I loved them together. I thought they were perfect for one another, they made a cute couple.
I really liked the friendships Delaney formed, especially with Nova.
I really liked the ending and the epilogue for this story.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read. I cannot wait for more books from this series.

It had potential but didn't follow through

The instalove and cringey dialogue were too much and really detracted from the story. Also the deaf rep is questionable at best and Browning probably should have consulted an editor to do a sensitivity reading.

Her Shelter by Terri Anne Browning is an MC romance. It's the sixth book from the Angels Halo MC Next Gen and it's about Max Reid and
Delaney.

Delaney lost her parents and her hearing due to a gas line explosion. She was sent to live with her father's sister June and her husband
Tony. When she was eighteen the housekeeper helped her escape. For two months she constantly moved from town to town until she ended up
in Creswell Springs. For the most time, she was hidden in the woods from the fear that they would found her. Sometimes she would seek
refugee for the night at Ink Shoppe. One foggy night Delaney was walking and she was almost run over by a bike. That's how she met the
handsome Max Reid. Since the moment he saw her he had a strange urge to protect and care for her, so he took her home with him. There was an instant attraction between them but he wanted to be gentle with his little treasure. Each day their feelings grew and Max knew
that she was the one for him and he would kill anyone who would try to take her from him.

This is the sweetest MC romance novel I have ever read. The plot is simple and easy to follow. It is written with dual pov for the most
time but there are a few from Raven and Lexa. The drama/action is minimum and towards the end. The first 2/3 of the book is about their
relationship and it's adorable and sexy. The way he was treating her was my absolute favorite part of the story. The characters were
great. She was an innocent lovely girl who craved loved and acceptance. Max was portrayed as a killer but we mostly saw his caring
side. I haven't read any of the other books from the Next Gen series but it's more tamed than the original Angels Halo.

Her Shelter is a great book that you shouldn't miss. Just make sure to read the whole series otherwise you will have many questions about
all the characters that are mentioned. (I was so confused) I enjoyed this sweet story and I will rate it with 4 stars.

In this book we meet Delaney and we get more of Max's story. It was a dark and foggy night when these two met. Sounds crazy but this is how it all started for these two. See just before her 18th birthday the maid came to her gave her clothes and money and told her to run and not stop or her uncle would find her, so run she did. When the money ran out she would eat in soup kitchens and sleep wherever she could. One day she hitched a ride with a trucker and when he came to Creswell Springs she ran from him. There was something about him that gave her a bad vibe and since losing her hearing she relied on that more and more. That night though she was so hungry and though maybe she could find food in the dumpster at Aggie's since she had already found food in a bad outside the ink shop and knew it was good. While trying to cross the street in the fog she is almost run over by Max on his bike. Max didn't see the girl until he is right on her. He swerved to miss her and dumped his bike. When he comes to chew her out for being in the street and not moving when she heard his bike he realizes she can't hear. One look is all it takes for Max to know he has found the woman he will be with for the rest of his life. If only he can keep some of the rougher things from her. Will these two find a HEA or will the things not said be the thing to drive them apart forever?

If you have never read a Terri Anne Browning book shame on you. Her books are amazing and will have you reading them again and again. This one is no different. Make sure you grab you copy today. Once you start you won't be able to put it down and you will go looking for all the rest. I would highly highly recommend this book.

1000% this book is my favorite of the Angel Halo’s MC and quite possibly my favorite to be written by Terri yet!

Omg! Max is everything! We get to see his true nature in this book. No holding back and that man can keep me any day if he wanted to! His protectiveness of Delaney or better yet his Treasure is otherworldly. That man will do anything to keep his Treasure even if that means burning all her clothes to keep her in his apartment. Lol!

When Delaney’s trouble comes looking for her Max dispatches of them quicker than I can blink. That man is a machine!

A side note for some other characters in this book...I wanted to b****slap Kelli when she said that she didn’t want Max’s bloody hands on her niece. Lord have mercy she ticked me off during that whole scene. We also get to see some of Nova and Ryan. I feel like a kid bouncing on their toes waiting for their book! I can already tell it will be explosive as Max and Delaney’s.

This book deserves 50 stars!

If your a fan of insta love, this is the book for you. I’m not unfortunately and had a hard time enjoying it. They moved waaay to fast in the relationship, I didn’t even get a chance to really feel their connection. But a huge plus is that there’s no ‘accidental’ pregnancy. The last 7 or 8 books all contained that thrope and I was getting fed up with it.

I liked that we got to see a glimpse of Ryan and novas story! I’m very much looking forward to that. But please, for the love of all the babies in the world, don’t let her get pregnant a week into the relationship. This author has written so many baby making machines and it got boring.

Other then that it was just an okay book. Better then the last one but still way worse then the first Gen books. Very I male, you female hear me roar. Also the nickname: my treasure. Once or twice every chapter is more then enough. 108 times in 210 pages is way too much.

Brilliant

I was pulled into the book right from the beginning, which is where I stayed until I had read every single word that was written. All the while I had my mini movie playing along in my head.
There are twists, turns and surprises throughout this story. Some of the surprises are large and some are small, some you may see coming, while others you won't. Some may hit you square in the face while others may pull on your heart strings, but no matter how the surprises get to you each and everyone of them hold equal importance within the story.
Emotions that the characters go through can be felt, I actually went through them along with the characters. There was the odd time I wanted to hit a character of two, but they redeemed themselves before the end of the book.
I highly recommend this book and Terri Anne Browning as an author, if you've never read her books you are missing out.

I love the second generation of the Angels Halo series. We've watched all the kids grow up and now they're doing adult things. We never knew that much about Max except he was Lexa's little brother, Raven and Bash's son, and he wasn't as troublesome as Garret (Jet and Flick's son). However, you need to read the previous book (Maverick and River's story) to get a background on what happens in this book.

I loved Delaney and Max's story. Delaney needs a hero and Max needs to grow up and find someone to actually take serious. Our hero takes his role very seriously and Delaney is so terrified of everyone that she has no choice. Plus, she finally meets the Hannigan crew and learns what it's like to become a member of the family. A fantastic story all the way around. I can't wait to read Ryan and Nova's story!

Her Shelter was a little different than the other books in this series. Max and Delaney meet in a near accident one that has Max recognizing the other half of his heart. One glance and you feel the connection between these two pulling them close. Max shows us his sweet side when it comes to his treasure. A story that even though still contains the grit and chaos of the MC is more about trust, safety, love and family. A love story full of heart and an alpha male who finds his soulmate and won’t let anyone including his own family come between them.

Action, family and romance

TAB has become an author whose work I buy as soon as it comes available for pre-order. This addition to the Angels Halo Next Gen series was great. I really enjoy the characters and the interactions of the many family members with the main couple. Max is rough and tough, like his father Bash but also gentle and sweet with Delaney. Delaney has had a rough life and is scared to trust anyone, but finds someone to love and trust in Max as well as family to love. Highly recommend.

If your a fan of instant love, this is the book for you. I’m not and had a hard time enjoying it. The relationship moved to fast and made it feel very not real, the reason that we read is to get lost into a world of someone else’s. I also find that most of the stories are the same with ‘accidental pregnancy’s’ and that you don’t actually get the know the charters at all.
Overall it was an okay book but really not one of her bests.

Great Book !!

I have to say , I loved this book !! It was nice to have a main character who was deaf through the whole book, usually there’s some miracle surgery that fixes their hearing or blindness. It just made it a little more realistic!! Now the book was great , written well and not a dull moment. I did make the mistake of reading book #7 before any other and though it read fine as is I am going to go back for the other characters stories !!

Max & Delaney

I enjoyed reading Max and Delaney's story. This is an insta love romance, literally love at first sight. I liked seeing this side of Max. I just found myself wishing the characters had a little more depth. I think she could have expanded on a few things to make you connect with the characters better. But over all this was a good read.

Beautiful!!

Max and Delaney’s story was wonderful! To see that side of Max was amazing. He was so tender and sweet, yet he was still a major badass! Delaney was such a sweet heroine and I really enjoyed how the family fell in love with her so instantaneously! Another great one by TAB, and I can’t wait for the next!!

Awesome Read

Ever read a book and you don't want it to end - well this is the book - you are some of our favorite characters, and meet some new ones. You'll fall more on love with Max, and realize he's a big ole teddy bear when it comes to Delaney, unless someone is threatening her.

As far as Max Reid is concerned the apple did not fall far from the tree. He is just as lethal, loyal and alpha as his dad. He proved that there is nothing he wouldn't' do for the one he loves. He fell hard and fast for Delaney as she did for him. I am really loving these next generation Angel's, they may be more fierce than their parents.

Insta love, sweet story and easy to read. Max is super possessive and very protective of his treasure. There are glimpses of the MC, but mainly follows the two characters on their love affair. Cute, sweet, with reading..I give it 3 stars because it's like most mc books with typical tropes. But still good read.
