I’ve spent the last eight years focused on one thing, and one thing only. Revenge. I’ve kept people at a distance. Didn’t let anyone under my skin. I had my rules and they worked well. Until they didn’t. Four men worked their way in without me even noticing. I thought I was shattered. Broken beyond repair. I thought there was nothing left to break. I thought I could do this on my own. I was wrong. Four men showed me just how much further I had to fall. I can’t abandon all that I’ve fought for. I can’t give up my revenge. I can’t let the sins against me go unpunished. I couldn’t choose them. Four men showed me just how ruined I was. A vital missing piece of who I am. A heartless coward, running scared. A violent storm that vanished as quickly as she crashed into my life. A ray of hope that was snatched away. A pretty broken little thing. One woman who ties the rest of us together. I’m not the only thing shattered anymore. Everything is. And this time, I don’t know how to fit the pieces back together.
Deadly Chaos is the second book in the contemporary new adult series, Steel Roses. If you have not read Shattered Chaos, please put this one down and go pick that one up. This story will not make sense without having read the first one. It is a why choose romance, meaning the female protagonist has three or more love interests and will not be forced to choose.
This book contains content that is not suitable for everyone. Please read the Author's Note at the beginning before delving into the story. Aways feel free to reach out to the author or her team with any questions.
Hot damn! I love this series so much. It has the perfect balance of violence, love, humor, and emotions. Book two was such an emotional ride. Right from the start you are already in deep. The story picks up a little bit after the end of the first book. Scar is still hiding and trying to fight herself and her feelings. The guys are all wrecks without her and we get to meet a new character. This book is big in emotions and opening up. Scar meets Declan who becomes a good friend she can lend on. He is able to get her to let down her walls and stop hiding behind the need for vengeance and admit her feelings for the guys. It was hard reading some parts as a person here has been at a low point myself. Samantha did an excellent job displaying how Scar feels and what depression can do to a person.
While there wasn’t much action until halfway and there was the fallout that took a bit to be resolved I am happy we got to see this other side of Scar and the guys also. Luca is not his normal clean cut self. He isn’t able to be the powerful man he normally is. Kade loses himself to demons of his past. He starts fighting again to get rid of his anger. Ryder drinks to keep his feelings from coming out. We finally learn a bit more about Noah and he joins the guys to help find his girl. I loved the reunion when Scar finally comes back and tells the guys how she feels. To see her open up to them and allow herself to be vulnerable was such a huge step and it shows how much she has grown. We also get to see Luca and Kade admit their wrongs about how they handled things with her.
I was so happy to learn more about Noah’s darkside. Though it wasn’t much I’m hoping we get more in the next book. Declan is such a great addition to the family. He can handle Scar when she needs the emotional support when no one else seems to be able to break through. He is also not scared of the guys and doesn’t take their crap. We find out he also has a dark past and there is a huge reveal at the end of the book. Roe has become so much like Scar in her sassy ways. The fact that she isn’t as scared and timid as in the first book makes me happy. She is so spoiled and has everyone wrapped around her fingers. Her relationship with Kai, Cal, and Trevor is so adorable. I’m glad she found her family to give her a normal (well as normal as you can with this group) childhood.
I am so excited for the next book. The news that this will be a four book series has me jumping for joy. I love this merry band of psychos so much. Plus, now that Scar and the guys are together for good, there were some steamy scenes in this book and I can’t wait for more. There are still so many secrets and mysteries to uncover as well as people who need to be paid in violence and I am so ready for more bloodshed.
Well, as my boy Kade says, "Welcome to Scar's Merry Band of Psychos. We don't have muffin baskets to welcome you, but we do have shiny guns and a thirst for blood."
Sam Bee absolutely killed it once again! If you thought book 1 was intense, then put on your big girl panties and get ready to go to war in book 2 in the stone roses series!
I LOVE how Sam can torture us with the story, I got everything I wanted and so much more, but man alive did I get put through the ringer on the way there! It was bloody, gory, suspenseful, perfectly paced, sexy, funny, dark, hard-core and ruthless!
I was pretty beat up about how book 1 ended, but that doesn't have a scratch on how emotionally drained I felt for a lot of this one. The emotions the guys and scar went through, I was right there with them, be prepared to not play happy family for a while. But trust the process!
We know our philosophy over here with RH novels is "why choose?", but I think most tend have a favourite in the harem and mine will always be Kade, gah my big softie! He just did a total number on me when he was hurt and angry and feeling abandoned, not ashamed to admit it kicked my ass and I had to read through tears many times, but we finally get him back and he'll have you laughing your head off and swooning all over the place! I Love Alpha Luca, his reunion with Scar gave me all the butterflies! The serious one of the group whos armour cracks a fair few times but he always keeps up appearances as bossman. “You’ve hurt more than a lifetime's worth. No more.” I smile at the fire burning in his ebony eyes. “Bossman,” I tease. “I don’t think that’s how it works.” He growls again. “It is if I say it is.” Noah, wow, well as they its always the quiet ones! What happened to our gentle blue eyed boy?! We are here for this transformation though, he was hot as hell and still his usual adoring self too. Ryder really came into his own as well, he had me worried for a bit with his messy ways but we finally get what we want from him and I can't wait to see more of him in book 3 now that he's found his place and feels comfortable. And then our new addition, Declan. He is the male best friend I never knew I wanted until now. Painfully loyal, comforting, understanding and patience. I think he was the most perfect addition to tie up the dysfunctional family.
They all fit a missing piece of scar like a puzzle. I adore her like I've never adored a female lead before. So ferocious but so much more vulnerable. Her walls coming down was so tragic but so heartwarming at the same time. Even with the weight of everything on her, she never stays down for long!
5 stars will never be enough for this series, the character development and the story line were phenomenal and now starts the painful waiting until we next get to enjoy our merry band of psychos!
Scar and her men are back but they are broken. She is running and her men are trying to survive without her but it's not easy. I wasn't so sure about one character first but I liked him at the end. He helped Scar a lot and he was good for her. Maybe he was something she needed in her life when everything wasn't well. Noah and Kade are my faves from her men and that one scene with them. Can't wait to read next book.
An ARC was provided in exhange for an honest review.
This was wow. A very good emotional read. Like wow. We get to see scar healing and everything coming together and I can’t wait for the next book. I love these characters
I would love to write an epic review but I wouldn’t be able to come up with enough words to give it justice. So I will only say- this book will break you and put you back together in the best way possible.
This is the story of Scar who has had a trauma happen in her past the changed the course of her whole life. Taking place years later Scar and her best friend Luca have established themsleves in the criminal undeworld as a cover to get where they need to be to take down some very bad people, help save people, and get vengeance. Scar has hardened her self to love but last book saw her walls starting to break. This book sees Scar dealing with the ending of last book, processing her emotions and her and the guys dealing with the fall out. Depicting an emotional picture of what this is like. As well as following Scar missing and her continuation of pushing for war.
I love this book and series so much. It is amazing and so well written, beautifully written. Reading I get completely lost to this world & characters, & emotions I felt. Not only is this a compellingly, entering story that keeps you hooked & invested in the characters & story but the lines, the moments that make things you feel whether its something you can relate to or not you feel it. When you can relate let me tell you there are lines,,feeling ive had in my head and felt I didnt know how to articulate, and this book put them into words. Experiences & emotions you can relate to add an extra depth to this read. This book holds a speical place in my heart for a lot of reasons. Oh and this book will always hold my favorite scene. A really great one where a bad guy gets what he deserves. This is a book filled with characters, a story, and writing style I love, and add in its depth and its just really something special.
I lived and breathed Shattered Chaos and this book wasn’t any different! I loved every minute of it. Thick book, which makes it’s absolutely perfect. Amazing characters that suck you in and refuse to let go, and emotions that you can feel as if they belong to you. You get so wrapped up in what is happening to them, and I found myself laughing, shouting, and almost crying just from reading this!! I could not wait to get started and it did not disappoint. If anything, this series only gets better the more you read! Roe owns my heart. Kade is still my favourite even if I do want to throat punch him throughout nearly half of this. Cole is just his usual perfect self and I’ll never be able to think of a head pat in the same way again. Ryder is perfectly imperfect and compliments Scar and really is the male version of her. Now, I really want to talk about someone else but I refuse to give any spoilers but let me just say, if you don’t like the new character then we can’t be friends! And finally Scar! I find her so relatable. The way she has clawed herself back and found a way to keep fighting, she doesn’t pretend that she isn’t broken. She owns it and uses it to do what she needs to. Samantha Bee, you are incredible, thank you for writing an amazing series and I cannot wait for book 3 and any other books you bring out!
I have no words for how fantastic this book and series are. Its hard for me to be able to tick all the boxes of things I love in a story and this one did it. Dark, High Steam,Twisted,Suspense, ACTION and oh so many feels. I think I cried throughout this whole book. This book was brutal. It ripped me apart in the best ways and that is when I know its a epic read and one that will stay with me forever.
Scar is at a crossroads in her life. She left her men because she thought that is what would be better. Then she meets someone else. Someone that makes her realize she needs her family. The things they are going through separately as well as a group are insane. This book was a journey of healing, of accepting the things that cant and wont ever be changed. Scar will always be chaos. But she also has a beautiful heart and that is what will make her be ok in the end...She needs each of her men because they give her something different. I loved that her harem changed and grew..Those surprises are the best. I have to say that 99% of the time I have a favorite guy and I can honestly say for the first time, I dont have a favorite. Noah gets to me because of his tending to want to be dominant in the bedroom and whew man talk about fanning myself.. I loved that. But all of them got to me and now are engraved in my heart.
I believe this is the first series for Samantha and it does not seem like that...Shes is fantastic and oh man this 3rd one is going to be just WOW...It was perfect.Dark, Twisted, everything I ever wanted. AN EPIC READ 100/5*******
Holy shit. I would love to live in Sam Bees mind for a day. Hell, i’d even take an hour.
Deadly Chaos is book 2 in the Steel Roses series and its amazing! The book begins right where Shattered Chaos left off. Scar is alone and trying to make it to the next day while still getting revenge. During this, she meets a ‘friend’ who really helps her come to terms with her feelings and be a better version of herself.
A majority of this book was repairing relationships and growing together. Scar has lived for so long avoiding her feelings and reality, so she’s coming to terms with everything she’s avoided for so long. I honestly loved getting more insight into who she was and what happened to her. I think knowing that helps understand both her need for revenge and her strength.
And the guys, uggghhhh. freakin noah and kade, take me now. honestly i’m obsessed with all of them!
There’s two more books planned for Scar and it totally makes sense, this story is intense and can’t be rushed. i’m looking forward for Jades book and to continue Scars journey!
I am absolutely blown away by this book! Deadly Chaos is book two in the Steel Roses Series and A World of Chaos by Samantha Bee. I can't say enough how much I love this book. It was emotional and messy and perfect. Samantha's writing is so powerful and draws you in so that your hanging on each word, waiting for it to break your heart a bit more.
"Who wants sunshine and rainbows anyways? We are all about bullet holes and bloodstreams."
Scar's story is an emotional ride steeped in heartache and darkness, but makes you laugh out loud too. This dark reverse harem romance is a must read for sure. It has multiple POV, mystery, suspense and the best world and character building I think I have ever read.
Scar grew a lot from book one, and seeing her step up and face the parts of herself that she didn't want to see was hard but beautiful. There is a different aspect that wasn't there in book one which made me like the character even more. And her men. Oh boy. Those men are so perfect for her, and help round out the story.
Roe's character is probably my favorite of all the interactions. The sweetness that she brings into the story is always welcome and melts my heart.
"We are deranged. We face Evil. We aren't anybody's f*cking heroes. But we laugh and we lover and we have a fierce loyalty for each other."
Things are definitely getting crazy, and I can't wait to see what happens in the next book!
Get ready for the next level of our favorite psychos.
Deadly Chaos is LIVE. Run, don’t walk. This book was an incredibly journey. We see such a different side to Scar compared to the shattered girl we met in book one. Her guys have no idea how to handle her leaving, and their reactions range from guilt to anger to drunken stupors. I’m still not over Doctor Daddy...I mean Declan. He was such a great friend to Scar when she needed it. BUT MY MAN NOAH IS STILL HOLDING MY HEART. That sweater move?! Yummyyyyyy.
Book 2 picks up from where book 1 left off so you must read the first book Shattered Chaos before diving into this one.
Book 1 was savagely brutal and brilliant, this book has a lot more focus on the relationships, emotions and dynamics of the group and sucks you into their crazy little gang even further. There is still plenty of darkness and action interwoven throughout. It sets the scene for the battle that I'm assuming is coming in book 3.
I really enjoyed this book but dam that cliffhanger! Come on girrl your breaking me I need more info.
Wowowow! Another wild cliffhanger! I'm loving all the character development and seeing the members of the harem finally come together. The plot just keeps thickening!
I love Scar and her merry band of psychos! This book hits hard. The emotions and plot in this story will rip you apart before putting it all back together. I loved every chapter of this and can’t wait for the conclusion. The group has come so far and opened up a lot, but there is still a lot of hidden secrets. I love the steam and all the heart that was poured into this book! Definitely a must read.
This series keeps getting better and better! So many secrets to unravel. So many feelings between Scar and her men. I’m so happy with how well Deadly Chaos came out. It had heartbreak and so much love and acceptance. Roe Baby still has my heart and D is by far my favorite. I happy accept this cliffhanger! I can honestly saw I’m happy with where it was left off. Bring on book 3!
Who spent all night read me me I did because this book gives me life like how can you not love scar and her men like seriously they are all kinds of hot and steamy 💦 Love that scar has someone who is equally matched to all of her sides and personality traits. I can even pick a favorite guy in the book. And baby row that girl has my heart I’m so in love with her and her little friends
This book definitely out shined book one and the character development for everyone was great you can see how they all learned and because better And that ending talk about cliffhangers

Book two was flipping amazing. This book was dark, suspenseful and of course hot. Scar has grown alot from book one but is still broken. But the men in her life are the pieces that put her together again. I'm excited and need the next book now!
This book is amazing! Scar is such a strong and resilient main character. I really enjoyed that this book was all about healing for Scar and her men. I mean they all have been through so much and they all needed to work on letting everyone in so that they could heal and move on. The first book was a rollercoaster, but this book was an emotional one that really put you through the ringer. I can't wait for the next book so I can see what else Scar and her men are able to handle.
I think it's safe to say i lost most of my respect for kade this book, he took advantage of the FMC when she was at her lowest. It kinda feels like rape too me, when he knew she wasn't in the right headspace for it and took advantage. And yes he apologized but he still treated her like crap after she came back . And he was my favorite of the guys, now I barely like him. And i hate that this situation was wholely put on her, when the guys mostly Luca and kade also were to blame for not listening to her. And that bugged me so much, because Luca has been content to do nothing for years and was surprised when she left them . Hell i would also leave them if they acted like that, which was why i hate how quickly the guys were painted victims. Ryder and Noah i understand, they have a right to feel abandoned. But honestly Luca and kade only have themselves to blame. Declan was a perfect addition to the harrem , while kade was slut shaming her and Luca ignoring her. I may be biased, but i honestly think kade and Luca need to step up. And this is just my opinion but i hate that she believes that Luca has slept with someone else while they were apart. She should know that he would never do that, and i don't really like that she believes that he can do that. Cause honestly i want the guys 100 percent focused only on her. I wished it was more of kade pov, one thing that disappointed me was we never really got to see kades regret and guilt for how he treated her. In other pov we hear that, put it's a Shame we couldn't get his pov to get to his deapth of regrets. I also believe kade said that he would never hurt her, but he already done that by leaving her in the bathroom. I don't like how they use sex to punish her when she has been raped, it feels wrong. Like 75 percent into the book they are still going on that she left them, i get it she left you , move on. And Noah and kade decided to punish her sexually. At this point I'm just sick and tired of hearing about her leaving them, when kade was a big reason for this. He also picked a Fight with her when she was feeling depressed. I still liked this book and will definitely read the next one, i was just surprised/ disappointed with a few things. Love everything else in the book though, i just wanted to vent about the things that frustrated me. Now it's time for revenge!!

I swear Samantha is trying to kill us with that cruel, cruel cliff hanger.....
Okay so I'm still not over it to the point I'm starting my review complaining about it, but it's bittersweet I swear!
This series is one of my all times favourites, I just love everything about it and the way Samantha has been able to develop every character in some way or another.
I'm not too keen on Declan though, I think its just because he's new to the group and I'm too wrapped up in chaos to want somebody to be the one to calm it down no matter how slightly that is. But he is needed and cared by me.
I really enjoyed learning more about everyone's pasts. I feel so much closer to the characters because of it. Who would have thought about Noahs past. Like sweet, innocent Noah is no longer sweet and innocent and I just don't know how I feel about that.
And scar!! My how has she changed and in such a good way!! I can't believe how much Declan's presence had an impact on her and the fact that Kade had to do what he did in order to get her back. I was honestly in tears with Scar at that scene, but a part of me knew why he did it and hope beyond hope scar would find her way back to "The Daddies"
And that cliffhanger nope. Nuh uh. I wish I never read it because the question "What do you mean Rachel?? Please explain whats happening!" Is going to be haunting my dreams.
If I try and write about everything I love about this book we will be here forever and I'm trying to keep my reviews shortish.
Basically you need to read this but be warned of the emotional rollercoaster you're about to be dumped on. You will most likely also be haunted by the cliffhanger as well. You have been warned so you can now go read this gem!
Samantha Bee has brought us Scar and her band of psycho men again and she KILLED it! Y’all if you think Shattered Chaos rocked your world you just wait! Deadly 100% knocked the emotional and mental rollercoaster up a few notches. I wont lie from someone who struggles with mental health problems daily there are parts in Deadly that hit close to home and were hard to read because Samantha executed the story so perfectly. I have only had to put a book down and take a mental break one other time from a seasoned author until Deadly and this is only her second published book, if that does speak volumes, I do not know what does! Shattered left us with Scar running, Deadly will pick up here. She is still revenge driven and blood thirsty, still “A savage leading her pack of monsters”. You will get to walk through her and the guys processing her being gone. A look into what will take place for her to get said revenge, meet new people and witness Scar being the “pint sized knight in shining armor of tattoos and attitude” just the way we love to see her. Samantha did not just amp up the emotions in Deadly she also added extra heat in the sex and my statement from my Shattered review applies even more now “if you can’t handle the heat definitely stay out of this kitchen” and away from the fruit basket. 😉 Samantha came packing for Deadly and shook me to the core, absolutely wreaked me and I can’t wait for her to do it again.

This picks up right where the last book left off and it is no less intriguing as the first. Scar is finally coming to grips with her trauma and letting herself heal for the first time. With her family supporting her and gathered around her, she is ready to go to war. I love how her character as well as the guy's characters are all growing and shifting and the relationships are blossoming from this character growth. You can feel the emotions along with them. There were quite a few spelling and grammar errors in the first and second book, which would be my only suggestion for improvement. Since it does not take away from the story, I still rated them both 5 stars.
Scar's thirst for revenge no longer is in sync with the men in her life. She wants action. She wants motion. She wants the people who hurt her and others to pay for what they did. But it seems that Luca and Kade are no longer willing to risk everything to give her what she wants. So she leaves. She goes out on her own to make the organization that is protecting the men who hurt her squirm a bit. But doing all this without her men at her side makes the whole experience hollow. There is something wounded inside her that she doesn't know how to overcome. Even with the help of a new friend, Declan, she still struggles to let go of the men she was involved with and go back to the days of random sex and no commitment. But how long can she avoid the men who will stop at nothing to have her back? And even if she returned to their side, would they even still want her?
I feel so terrible for Scar through most of this book. She is so broken and the light that Luca, Kade, Noah, and even Ryder gave her to keep going throughout the day was snuffed out at her own hand. She made a point of thinking about how she has always had at least one of them at her side through everything. Even when she left Kade in the past she still always had Luca. To not having any of them I could completely understand her spiraling.
I was a little weary of Declan when he showed up randomly and started trying to help her through all her issues and teaching her how to not bury her emotions like she has been doing. He was the therapist she truly needed and it was amazing to watch how he molded her into this more healthy person.
This book was a rollercoaster of pain, agony, and learning how to heal yourself. And I loved seeing her approach the guys again once she felt more stable on her feet. The surprise over her change was bittersweet for them. They were glad to see she was starting to open up a bit more about her emotions but they were jealous that it took Declan to draw it out. But Declan always had her back. I loved that he stood behind her even when all the other guys were throwing shade (especially Kade... how dare you, Kade! You were my favorite!).
This was a great installment in the series. It gave a little more information about Scar, showed the connection she shared with the guys, and gave another love interest to consider. It also showed character broadening in all the characters to make them a little less shattered than they had been in the first book. Gotta love a book that shows growth!
Sometimes you become too focused. Sometimes you have to break before you can heal. Sometimes you forget you aren't alone. Sometimes you have to fight to stay. Scar didn't just break, she shattered. She walked away from everyone who loved her. She fell into darkness. But in the darkness, she found a friend. He saw her, really saw her. So he knew what she needed...who she needed. He helped her pick herself up and accept her emotions. Then he sent her back.
This was an emotional story. Not just for Scar but for her men as well. They faced their own low points and dark days and they developed a bond separate from Scar. She will always be their center but they are now a true brotherhood. I respected Scar's journey. She bled her emotions onto the pages. It was raw and ugly and dark. It was real. So was Kade's anger, Ryder and Noah's fear, and Luca's obsession. I love these four. Now I'm going to admit something that will make me unpopular. I wish Declan had only wanted to be a friend. I didn't feel the connection between him and Scar like the others. I didn't feel the sense of friendship like Scar has with Mikey and Ronan. At least I don't get the sense of a father figure like Joe. He grounded her, taught her coping skills. He made a lovely therapist. But he doesn't fit in like the others and muddies the relationship.
The war with Romano was always inevitable, now a certainty. I like this storyline, I like the revelations. This book is at its best when the group is strategizing and executing against their enemies. The fights, the runs or rescues, and the nights at Steel Roses are all fantastic. The writing needs a little polishing at times, the repetition could be cleaned up but it continues to be entertaining.
Woah. What a ride that book was. I should have expected it from the beginning but man.
This book was A LOT. It both broke me AND put me back together. It was so damn filled with emotions. I've never seen anyone tackle the tough stuff quite like this. It was raw, it was sobering and it was effing powerful. Can you be proud of someone you don't know? Because I feel proud of Samantha for creating this book.
We learnt SO much more about Scar, about our guys and even Scar's new harem member. My heart is pounding after finishing this book, I feel like I've got whiplash. One second they're having a three-way in the kitchen and the next, they're dealing with kidnappers.
I'm still so obsessed with Scar. She is such a badass babe and I love her. Noah - you guys, I didn't think anyone could come between me and Luca. BUT I volunteer to be Noah's baby girl ANYDAY. That man is straight fire. Kade, oh Kade. What a freaking cinnamon roll with a side of psycho. He's just adorable insane and I love him. LUCA - I mean, YES. YES YES. I'm so glad he has the other guys around to help him let go of all the control he seems to need to keep. Ryder - I love watching him come alive and find his reasons to exist again. He fell apart so brutally. He needs Scar just as much as she needs him. AND DECLAN. okay honest? I legitimately couldn't figure him out. I just had this weird nagging suspicion of him for SO long and I don't know why. BUT - then, in he came with a puppy and I'm like OH yes. OKAY, he's part of the HEA.
I cannot wait for more. I'm super invested in these characters and this world. What a slam dunk, Samantha!!
Before you start, if you haven't read the first book in this series, STOP, go back and read it first. I also recommend you read the note and warnings in the blurb for the book.
At the end of Shattered Chaos Scar left. More than that she removed any way for the guys to find her. As this book opens Scar is following her own agenda, revenge. She's also releasing information on those she has terminated allowing the world to see the evil they had been. Unfortunately, she's now hitting a low, one she's having trouble climbing out of.
She's still there when she meets Declan, a doctor who seriously gets her and wants to be her friend. He's the one that helps her up and out of her loneliness, guilt, and despair.
In the meantime, the guys aren't doing well at all, they can't find her, have no leads and it's driving them crazy. That's when Noah shows up looking for her. He's surprised at the state he finds them in, but also feels a camaraderie with them. It's with his help they start tracking her yet find no location.
Declan becomes an anchor for Scar, even as her guides her towards reconciling with the guys.
When it gets to the point Scar is about ready, something happens with Kade at the bar she and Declan hang at. This is a turning point.
I really can't say more, you have to read this book to understand all the emotions that flood through the pages.
There's laughter, tears, revelations and a whole lot of sizzle in this book.
The emotional turmoil of the characters somehow offsets the craziness of our times for me. I'm already doing a re-read of Damaged & Deadly in preparation for the release of Vicious Chaos.
These books are unnecessarily long. This is how I judge that...With these two books, specifically the second book, I could skip PAGES per chapter in some chapters and I didn't lose a single piece of story. The constant inner monologue was so drawn out and repetitive that I wanted to stop but I'm invested enough in the story that I found a way to just enjoy it, which is to not read most of it. The editing is much worse in the second book than in the first.
I want to give this higher stars. I really do. It's just that so much happened, and it should be a good thing, but I wish some of this "so much happening" had happened in the first book. Everything scrambled together the last 25% of this book.
I absolutely couldn't stand the fmc in this one. If you're reading reviews before you read the book, keep this in mind. She doesn't just up and leave Roe like you think she does for a good solid portion of this book. That is how I almost stopped reading is just for that fact all on its own.
I don't want to have to read about Jade to know more of this story. I really really don't. I honestly do not care about her more than just a side character. I'll just skim her book to get the jist of it and then I'll go into book three. I can already say that this series will not ever be a reread for me.
One thing I found good about this book was Declan. I also had to look up reviews before he was officially part of everyone because I thought he was gonna be a double crosser. So I'm glad he's good.
I was super excited about Deadly Chaos and felt so lucky to be one of the first to be able to read and review it. Possible spoilers ahead.
I loved the book and only have a few complaints. I wish we got to see Scar in action against her enemies more but I suppose since her and the crew are going to war there will be more action in book 3. At least I’m hoping! I also wish there was more steam. I would love to see multiple scenes of Scar with two or more of her men. The kitchen scene that Ryder walks in on was awesome but I wish we got more detail instead of cutting ahead to when Ryder walks in and finds the state Scar is in. It would even be awesome to have a scene with Scar and all her men at once. Maybe at the end of the book to show how far they’ve come and how strong their bond has grown. I think my favorite thing in the book though was how Declan supported Scar and gave her a new type of strength and allowed her to come to her own decision about her other men without any negative commentary from himself. In simple terms, I just loved how Declan loved Scar. Their bond was beautiful to read about and I can’t wait to see how it progresses from friends to lovers. I’m really happy about how much Scar has grown as a character and confronted her past. She hasn’t completely opened up to all the guys about what exactly she went through but I’m hoping it’s only a matter of time. I can’t wait to see how the rest of the story unfolds and to also get answers about Jade.

This series just gets better and better. I am in love with all the characters especially Scar and especially in this book, for me she had some amazing growth and that is because of Declan.. He has helped Scar open up and admit to her feelings and he is seriously the ultimate male BFF and I needs me one of him. Our guys are a hot mess without Scar and my heart aches for them. The actual growth in all the characters was fantastic and the progression in their relationships had me in awe. When Scar finally came back she wore her heart on her sleeve and let the guys see her vulnerability it was what they all needed. I like that we got to dive deeper into everyone pasts and where they came from to who they are now. Scar is like a jig saw puzzle and each person in her family fits a certain way to complete that puzzle making her and everyone whole. I would have to say she is my favorite FMC of all time. Throughout the story we get some questions from book 1 answered but we are also left with so many more and I still feel like we have barley scratched the surface and things are about to get a whole lot more cray cray!!! I cant freaking wait for book 3. This series is EVERYTHING!!!! If you have not started the Steel Roses series you are seriously missing out on something amazing.
I loved Scar in the first book, then I was slightly frustrated with her at the beginning of this installment and then my irritation turned into absolute admiration for her and the incredible strength she managed to show as she battled through her consuming darkness. Declan was fabulous as he supported her and n her darkest hours and assisted her to come to some much needed revelations about her life.
Letty's guys have gone through some realisations on their own and although their intentions were in the right place, they needed to experience some time away from the FMC so that they could draw conclusions for their own choices. I think that was the turning point for Luca and I am so so glad that I saw him changing his tune. The reunion between the characters was so gratifying that I am struggling to express how exceptionally delivered that was executed on behalf of the author.
Samantha Bee's skill to illustrate and transmit state of minds and emotional turmoil is spell bounding up to the extent where I was so enraptured with the characters and the storyline that I devoured this second book. It will be interesting to see how Declan gets on with the guys and of course some of the side characters stories are rather intriguing, so I cannot wait to jump into the next one.
