7 Divine Laws to Awaken Your Best Self

Rate this book
'Just as heat is inherent in fire, so is our desire to become better.'
Why are personal growth and life transformation so difficult? Does Creation wish that we fail? Of course not! The purpose behind the Universe's grand design is to make us succeed. Our own unawareness of the laws of the Universe creates the impediment. Just as physical phenomena are regulated by laws, there are spiritual principles governing the journey of life as well. Knowledge of them helps us understand why success comes so easily to some but remains a struggle for others; why some are still putting on their shoes, while others have finished the race. The beauty is that, like the physical laws of nature, the divine principles governing happiness and fulfilment in life are also eternally valid. In this book, Swami Mukundananda explains the 7 divine laws in an easily graspable manner. With knowledge of the Vedic scriptures and witty anecdotes that everyone can relate to, this book will empower you to become the best version of yourself.

I was quite disappointed to read that the author doesn’t think animals have free will. I thought people in Indian culture accepted it as truth that animals are on the same level of consciousness as humans, but looks like I’m wrong.
Other than that, some advice made sense and some was quite silly.
In the stories/examples, the author presents a story where a young girl falls in love with her fiancée simply by hearing he’s arranged with him. This example — and in fact, many other examples — seemed like a made up story and quite degrading to the subject.
I do like the advice that one should get a mentor. I will see who is around speaking about the multiverse theory, as that is my religious conviction (however, I do believe in God).
What good is it to “love God” with all your heart. The writer thinks it purifies the soul, but I do not see convincing evidence presented for this in the book.
Also, why would desire be a negative thing? It’s what keeps living things going for millions of years, so that they reproduce.
And I don’t think worldly possessions are a bad thing.
Attachment also, can be seen as an essential thing in society. The way parents and children feel attached with each other, it’s a basic survival thing.
Soo, there are many things I disagree with and I have a feeling the author is selling his guru/coaching services through this book, but he did not convince me. But I’m happy to read that many people think it’s a great book. I’m sure they can follow the path it describes, but it’s just not for me.

Might look like a religious book, but this is better than 99 percent of the self help books out there. Swami Mukundananda succinctly shares 7 divine and practical laws that can help you step closer to long lasting happiness without any shortcuts, the book is interspersed with humorous and memorable anecdotes.

I have always loved his YouTube talks. This book solidifies one's interest towards being detached from the fruits of deeds. Thats the way to being free from stress, anxiety, anger, tension. Great book to begin your spiritual journey.

Clear anecdotal method of explaining abstract principles

Swamiji has very firm grasp of the spiritual principles leading to success and happiness. He had clearly elaborated these 7 principles by appropriately citing vedic literature. Really engaging read.

Published by HarperCollins India @harpercollinsin written by the eminent philosopher and yogi Swami Mukundananda @swami_mukundananda who numerous people follow to cultivate a happy state of mind and healthy state of body, this new book helps us to awaken our best self for success, happiness and fulfilment by letting us know the seven divine laws.

I have watched Swami Mukundananda's videos over YouTube and they are truly motivating.

From the teachings of famous Indian epics like Mahabharata, Ramayana and religious scriptures like Bhagavad Gita, etc relevant quotes and conversations are shared which let us inculcate the age old lessons and apply in our modern lives by understanding the basic foundation of human life and thus proceed towards our best selves.

From laws of infinite potential, incremental growth, beliefs, happiness, sublimation, love to mentorship, it covers such topics that influence each arena of our lives. Each chapter concluding into point wise takeaways helped me remember and use the learnings effectively. It is not only philosophical, spiritual but insightful and thought provoking that definitely is useful in bringing out the stable happy state in us. Lucidly presented I feel young and all aged readers shall read it to get benefitted.
