Timothy Renner’s book, "Beyond the Seventh Gate", explored the history and mysteries of the infamous Toad Road - an area in York County, Pennsylvania which is home to a variety of paranormal activity. "Don’t Look Behind You" expands on that volume, presenting more cases of strangeness from the area. Renner’s continuing research has brought forth more stories and new witnesses describing bigfoot attacks, UFOs, venomous snakes, Mothman, orbs, buried treasure, and even a creepy Toadman lurking in the nearby creek. To these stories, Renner adds his own experiences of oddities, weird synchronicity, rare animals, unexplained lights, and other high strangeness."Don't Look Behind You" serves as a companion volume to "Beyond the Seventh Gate" - the books can be read independently. It is not required that you read "Beyond the Seventh Gate" before reading "Don't Look Behind You".

About the author

Timothy Renner has written articles for several publications including "Morbid Curiosity", "Weird USA", and "Weird Pennsylvania". His illustrations have appeared in fanzines, comics, magazines, books, and on many record covers. Timothy plays and sings folk music with his band Stone Breath. To date they have released twelve full length albums and multiple EPs. Beyond the Seventh Gate is his first book.

Bigfoot, owls and synchronicity, oh my! I loved this book, my first of Timothy Renner but not my last. You can tell the other runs deep with Timothy. And he seems like a steadfast and reliable source of information who reminds us to connect but with caution. Really can’t wait to get exploring again.

Recently I’ve started to get into Kindle books and I found this gem. It is the sequel to‘Beyond the Seventh Gate’ in which Timothy Renner debunks urban legend surrounding Toad Road, an ex industrial/ agricultural area in Pennsylvania. In doing so he finds a whole new layer of story which he covers in this book. If you’re interested in the paranormal, modern folklore or psychogeography this is for you. Genuinely thought provoking.

3.5 Stars - Interesting book, and I completely recommend the podcast by the author Strange Familiars, covers mostly the same territory.
