The United Eastern States has fallen. Lee Harden and a band of survivors have escaped President Briggs's invasion force. Their only options are to attack Briggs while his forces are delayed on the east coast...or admit that they've been beaten, and go into hiding. For Lee Harden, the decision seems obvious. But as disparate forces, factions, and loyalties begin to converge under the pressure cooker of all-out civil war, Lee is forced to confront not only insurmountable odds, but also the darkest parts of himself that he has left buried in the years since this all began.

D.J. Molles became a New York Times and USA today bestselling author while working full time as a police officer. He's since traded his badge for a keyboard to produce over 20 titles. When he's not writing, he's taking steps to make his North Carolina property self-sustainable, and training to be at least half as hard to kill as Lee Harden (his most popular protagonist).

Molles also enjoys playing his guitar and drums, drawing, cooking, and “shredding that green pow” on his Onewheel.

Most nights you can find him sitting on the couch surrounded by his dogs and family, trying to stream an hour of Netflix with his really sketchy satellite internet connection.

'Unbowed' is yet another very satisfying episode in the Lee Harden series. Sadly, book #6 will wrap it up. On a positive note, it certainly won't be lacking in adventure, intrigue, and excitement since Lee's to-do-list is still quite extensive....
Another nail-biting performance by series solo narrator Christian Runnel. Thanks.

Meaty and non-stop. Moves and counter moves with sever repercussions for everyone

Book 4 filled me with horror at the developing and unstoppable primals and although this book didn’t give me that same feeling, that storyline developed into something equally terrifying. It’s good that that hasn’t been left behind because survival and post apocalyptic stories tend to get super tedious with trust issues between...well...everyone.

Outstanding

DJ Molles is my dirty addiction. Every book in this series has sucked me back into a world of war, primals, and political intrigue. Can't get enough of these books.

Dammit! When’s the next one due?

Devoured it. Been waiting what feels like forever and simply devoured it. Gonna go back and reread the series whilst I wait patiently to find out what happens next. And I am not good with patient. Thanks for such a gripping storyline, tension and characters. Favourite author!

Very entertaining

Lee is on the move with the survivors from Butler. They are headed to Greeley to end the reign of the so called president of the United States. But of course there are lots of stumbling blocks. Starts and stops.

Did you watch the Walking Dead? Do you remember when it became far more about conflict between people than about conflict with zombies? That's where most people dropped off watching and that's where these books are. Zombies are 2% of the books now, the rest is conflict between humans and Lee struggling mentally and physically. Heck, we only even saw Deuce his loyal dog once I think. I finished the book but it was a close DNF. I put it aside and read a number of books before I picked it back up and made myself get through. I can't imagine I will want to know the ending enough to pick up the last book - the tantalizing hint of what will happen with the evolving zombies will be the only thing that draws me back.

Wow.....

Let Lee win, please. This book was great. I am not really interested in the primal side of the story. Could kill them all out and I would be very satisfied if it is just about Lee and the fight. Please let him win and survive

Lee Harden - battered, bruised and bleeding, but - alphabetically - angry, bloodied, cautious and defiantly dealing death and destruction.

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!

If you haven't read the last few books in The Remaining Universe series, then the following review will contain some spoilers. I would recommend that you catch up on he story before tackling this book. Your choice.

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!

After Briggs army destroyed Butler, Harden and the survivors of the attack made their way west toward Greeley. Total destruction on their minds, gathering strength in the towns on the way, Greeley's army pursuing them, Lee and his ragtag army made straight for a fight with Briggs. From inside Greeley, Sameer Balawi led a small team gathering a smattering of people sympathetic to his cause and willing to join an insurrection from the heart of Briggs' empire, joining up with Lee at the appropriate time. All the pieces are moving into place. On the verge of battle the pieces shuffle about the playing field and the game is on!

By now we know the characters well, we know their minds, their dreams and expectations, their nightmares and doubts, their bravery and fatigue, their fears and despair. They are ready, poised with adrenalin coursing through trembling fingers, fears buried beneath determination. Greeley's defenders are sure that battle is coming. They expect to be victorious, but tremble at the thought - Lee Harden is coming.

What DJ Molles book isn't phenomenal?! This book was more of a setup for the next however many books he has coming up in this series but that didn't take away at all from a great story and further evidence as to why this Harden series, starting all the way back with the first Remaining novel, are my absolute favorites of any stories I have read. On a side note, and not trying to be grammar police, but I would like to find out how to become one of his advance readers, for being a teacher myself, there are a large number of grammatical errors that I caught in this book (including mixing up of names) that I'd love to help catch ahead of publishing. Get in touch with me DJ!! Haha

You loyal readers like me will love this book as much as I did I assure you. Happy reading, and the next book needs to #HTFU (Harden the F@$% Up and Hurry the F@$% Up!) We want more!!

This book has the usual action non stop and twists and turns that DJ is so good at. This is the last book so far in the remaining universe series which leads you up to a climax that doesn't happen...yet anyway we will see. I really liked this book although I was disappointed with being left on a cliffhanger but that also makes for a little intrigue as well. DJ gives himself time to pause the action and write another closer that picks up all the threads and gives his reader time to ponder. Are the primals going to catch them and can they defeat Biggs? He develops Sam and Lee's Character more fully and complete with Sam taking on the role as the operator focused on completing his critical mission and Lee coming to grips with his role as the commander. The way DJ did this is outstanding he is able to show the physical action required of both characters as well as the psychological challenges they have to step up to in order to change their thinking. Excellent, very well done DJ. One thing I also liked is the outlyer the Primals who are becoming more intelligent, evolving and developing an organized leadership. Can't wait to see what's coming.

The long wait for next book

The only problem i have is waiting for the next book. Lee's the reason i got into Amazon and then prime... simply coz i read the free sample on Amazon all those years ago with the first book... sitting in the bunker waiting. I ended up discovering kindle and that's all it took... been with Lee ever since. It's bitter sweet thinking about this incarnation of Lee harden coming to an end. But luckily, dj molles is an absolute pleasure to read in everything he does. And his range keeps broadening; the Santa's was quite a Christmas experience. I guess what I'm saying is read this here book, tis good.

Pride, hope, and courage.... Fueled by determination....

All that is left to the remnants of the Eastern US, yet they continue onward fighting not only evolving and deadly primals, but the humans that crave power and position above all else. Maurdering men, women, and children....Briggs forces close the vise around Harden and his people... but they continue to hope and to fight even as many die. But where there is determination, belief, and tenacity - there also beats the heart of hope....Pray for them and hope for victory.

I was NOT expecting that

I should know by now to just expect everything and nothing, and I still manage to be surprised. Some of the losses in this one threw me, and there's less action than I'm used to in this series, but everything that happens is setup for a huge showdown that I'm really looking forward to. The biggest surprise for me came courtesy of a side character that we don't know that well, but it was nice to see him grow some balls at the end of the book!

I loved the book, but it ended way too abruptly. I've heard other reviews complain about books in the series being 'unfinished', but I always thought they were being too harsh and that the books usually ended after a climax and it was satisfying.

This book ended in a really bad spot. Just as the plot was gearing up the book ended. It felt like in the middle of a sentence.

I loved what was in it, but am a bit disappointed.

Awesome series!

An epic battle of good vs evil staged in a blasted landscape that once boasted a Starbucks on every block and every creature comfort available in modern living. You can feel the desperation in both series as the pieces of Armageddon fall into place. My hat's off to D.J Molles for creating a nightmare world of power struggles and intrigue among a hellish landscape of death and destruction. wish I could say more but this is being typed on a Kindle 😆

If you're into this sort of zombie apocalypse literature, with a heavy focus on character, military action, political intrigue, and people doing what people do (mostly looking out for themselves, with occasional exceptions, those we come to know as "heroes"), then this novel, and its series, is for you. I loved it. Definitely some harsh violence and language, so you've been warned, but the story is solid.

Is the end near?

The story continues but the battles grow more difficult. The loss so great it makes you question if it can be overcome. Lee Harden is broken but not out of the game. They are the underdog, in more ways than one. It makes you realize you just can't give up. I hope the next book comes quickly.

Thanks for the books

Absolutely awesome, especially considering how quickly it followed the tail of the list book. If I had a complaint, it's that I wasn't even a tiny bit ready for the story to be over. I'm already itching for the next one to come out, so please keep up the good work.

I couldn’t put it down!

I anxiously awaited the release of this book and was not disappointed! The author illustrates the characters’ emotions so well that the reader begins to feel what they feel and see what they see. Start to finish, it was truly amazing! I can’t wait for the next book! Lee Hardin and The Remaining are both hands down my favorite series’!

Battered , bruised, & injured they carried on

How do you keep moving forward when your body is broken & all seems hopeless? Lee finds himself asking that question and finds the strength in himself & the others around him to keep fighting....

DJ Molles does it again. A great immersive fast paced writing style. I found the character development and plot progression the best in the series. How long do I have to wait for the next instalment?
