I have been on a mafia romance kick lately, and you can't blame me- when there is one good book after another!

Kingdom of sinners by Shanjida Nusrath Ali is mafia romance based on bratva- the brotherhood but it's not just a simple mafia dark romance.

There is complex and violent past involved and our three protagonists of the story are deeply entwined within it.

this book has triggers- heavy violence, mention of child abuse(in past) and mention of sexual abuse too.

Maxwell- is a cunning man with scars from his childhood that shape his present action. You might hate him most times but flashbacks to his past shows us his road to change into this brutal leader.
Nonetheless, he is one hot pakhan. As the story progress, we see that beyond the veil of violence and gore, there lies a heart that has experienced love and loss and he wants to keep it hidden.

Which brings us to the two other characters- Rhea & Elisha. Let me start with saying, I love these names. They are two mysterious women who is linked with maxwell in secrets and scars, one is an angel and the other is queen. Both are very much similar yet the subtle differences the author paints shows us the vast gap between the two h's.

Now, to find out what is the mystery which connects these trio. Who wins at the end? Who reigns queen? You have to read the book.
It is available in Kindle Unlimited.

this is not my first book from the author but I think I have rarely seen authors take feedback/criticism and better themselves but this author right here deserves 👏 for not only taking criticism but also doing such a stellar job of perfecting her penmanship and the way this story is written is an absolute proof of her growth.

One of the best Mafia books I have read recently
enjoyed the conflicts of the characters, especially the swirl of confusion it created within me in the first half. I was truly wondering who is the main character and wondered how theyll interact with each other. The author did a good job giving away some but not giving away too much.

However, in some places a couple of things I was looking forward to. Like the explosion scene of the car or the interaction between Rhea, Maxwell and Elysha. It might be a good thing too since the writing style as I have mentioned is not giving away too much. It could both be taken as a positive side or negative side. Overall, I enjoyed it. A good one to read in a cold weather with a cup of piping hot coffee.

I loved the start with Rhea being all bad ass, different from girl who throws themselves on handsome man with nothing but lust. I freaking love her character build how bulletproof yet soft and pure she was, I just wanted more of her being with Max. To be honest I just took her side and didn't like Elysha. There's nothing wrong with her, it's just there was so much meaningless desires she shared with max. I'm not gonna spoil who max ended up with, but I love how dominant he was throughout the journey in his kingdom of Sinners and freaking loved the ending. Haha it's just gonna be me, but the ending was totally my type. No hate it's just my girl had a way to achieve what hers.

I received an ARC of this book for my review.
This book starts off super dark and full of triggers, so be warned! You get thrown in the deep end right away and it really sets the pace of the rest of the book. Elysha and Maxwell's story is tragic and full of darkness and I loved every second of it. And that ending, UGH! I can't wait to see what happens next. The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5, is because of some of the wording throughout the story. It seemed like maybe English wasn't a first language for this author, so some of the wording and the way things are said are off. But overall it was a very good dark romance read.

Let me start by saying this book had me on edge the entire time with all the mystery and how intriguing it was, but it was also dark, twisted, and steamy, everything I love; it had me turning page after page, but I also didn't want to finish!

Maxwell is such a complicated character; he's dark, and he carries all the demons from his past; a past that left him broken and turned him into who he's now. He lives for the power he has over Russia, and he will go over anyone and anything to keep his kingdom and his power intact. For Maxwell, emotions are not in the picture. Maxwell was left with an empty and broken soul the only time he allowed himself to feel emotions. Little does he know everything is about to change.

Elysha is another broken soul, but she's also a warrior and such a strong person. She has been through hell and back a couple of times; she can count with her fingers the good memories she has because there are not many, but she holds onto the most important one because it's the only thing that keeps her going. She doesn't expect anything good from life at this point; she has lost so much, but what she expected less was for fate to put her into Maxwell's path.

Rhea's past is not much better than Maxwell's and Elysha's, but out of all three, she's the one that hides her demos the best; she doesn't take orders from anyone, and she has a badass attitude. Rhea doesn't let anyone too close to her, not even Maxwell, but she does show him a different side of herself, a side that might even be able to care about him. They are all surrounded by mystery and lies; is anything even real?

This book will take you through a darkly intense ride; not everything is what it seems. I loved how Shanjida kept all the mystery till the last minute; this book was one surprise after the other. I'm sure she's going to surprise us with what's coming on in book two, and I have a feeling it will be even darker.

Who will win? The King? The Goddess? Or The Queen?

Kingdom of Sinners by Shanjida Nusrath Ali surpasses all expectations and notions. Whatever you thought this book might hold, it may not in it's entirety. It will challenge you, your thoughts and emotions with every flip of the page and render you speechless.

This book is dark, twisted, a serious mindfuck, if you will and so damn intense. It's unlike any story you've ever read before. The dark thrill of this book will keep you at the edge of your seat the entire time.

Maxwell is the Ruthless King of his Kingdom of Sinners, so incapable of love. But do you think he can be changed? That's where the author plays tricks with her words in such a brilliant manner.

Rhea is the badass female who knows demons, darkness and freedom. Her character and desires fit so well Maxwell, but then there is Elysha who defies and stands her ground against Maxwell. She won't fall, but there is only one winner and to know who that is, you've got to read Kingdom of Sinners.

This story switches from past to present giving a glimpse of the characters' tortured past. But this switch is so smooth that it doesn't hinder the flow of the current timeline.

Maxwell's character is complex and difficult along with Rhea's which is a stark contract to Elysha's character in the beginning. But Elysha knows what she is and what she wants. She is true to her character in so many ways, but then again, you can't really blame the others.

I can't say more without giving away spoilers, so I highly recommend picking up this book. It'll blow your mind in ways you wouldn't have imagined. Protect your heart when you read this because as sweet as this torture may seem, you'll have a book hangover for a very long time. Shanjida has knocked this story right out of the park and I am so damn proud of her.

The story is extremely dark, intense, steamy, romantic, emotional, angsty with suspense and a lot of twists. It has complex characters and an intricate plot line making the readers hooked on to the story.
The story switches from the past to present gradually explaining to the readers what had happen to the characters.
The story will completely engross its readers and the cliff hanger at the end of this book will make the readers want to know what will happen next, immediately.
It is a highly recommended book for readers who like this genre.

Personal Take:
I couldn't put this book down. Even though it was really dark, I was hooked. In the beginning, I was a little confused as to what is happening but as I kept reading, I wanted to know more. I didn't see the twists coming and there were so many times that I was on the verge of being emotional and the there was some kind of revelation. I can't wait to read it the next part now ❤️❤️.

You really can't go wrong with this trope. Most mafia books I've read are great. This was no exception. I was really hooked from the very beginning. A lot of people don't like love triangles but I think it gives the story more spice. We have a masterpiece joining the ranks and I need more.

So I started reading this the other day and I think I just wasn't in the mood for it because I was honestly struggling. I was confused and I put the book down. I ended up reading a couple of really good books and realized I had started to slump when I started Kingdom of Sinners so I went back in.

Good Lord on high this book! once I got over whatever my mental block was it was super easy to follow and I found myself captivated by this story. I knew it wasn't going to end well. Like it's a duology we are gonna have a cliffhanger but DAYYYUUUMMMMM.

Max is ruthless as all hell, he just got his kingdom, and it's already slipping through his hands. Then comes the women. Rhea, she's fire like insane but fire. Elysha is so blinded by love that it literally takes all the strength and erases it. I found myself disappointed by her more times than I wanted to be. Like she is strong and she takes up for herself but then Maxwell does something and she's a love sick fool. 10000% it's her upbringing fooorrrr sure.

Ya'll I was sooo mad when the book ended!! I hope the second book is coming soon. Like tomorrow or something.

The book was a little slow to get started for me however it is intriguing enough that you keep reading. It took me a while to work out what was happening as the storyline has an air of mystery about it and the author gives nothing away. I loved Rhea she was this whirlwind who shook things for Max. Her take no prisoners attitude drew me to her instantly and we get to see her softer side with Max. I am going to nail my colours to the mast and admit Elysha is not who I want for Max at all. There is nothing I can point to but I do not trust her at all and unless something big happens in book two I can't see me changing my mind. I have a feeling there is still more revelations to come and I live in hope we get more scenes with Rhea and Max. In fact my dark little heart cheered at the last chapter. Now all that is left is to wait anxiously on book two.

I saw it being edited by one of my friends/authors so I decided to give it a shot. It was a good book over all. I liked it although it took some time before something started happening.

I like this author's writing so I might check out other books soon. It was fresh and even if I'm not a big fan of going back and forth on the timeline, I didn't mind it as much as I thought I would at the beginning.

I just wish this would be more of a real triangle thing. Because as soon as Elysha showed up I was done thinking that something else would come out of it. Which is sad really because I love Rhea. She's strong in her own way and takes no shit from others. It's so unlike Elysha that I stopped caring about Elysha. Maxwell was an ok character, however, I got more interested in that Lucifer guy than him.

I hope there's going to be more to the story and Rhea in the second book. Because one bad thing I can say is that it wasn't a love triangle for me as much as the other woman thing. And it was marketed as love triangle.

But read it because the story and the plot is worth it. I was second guessing myself with every chapter. You will as well.

The King can only have one, who will he choose, the Goddess, or the Queen?

Buckle up, you’re in for a dark, TWISTED, and steamy ride. These pages are full of every emotion. Just when you start to figure out who-is-who, you had better guess again. Maxwell is such a complex character, and I fell for both sides of him. His goddess is surprising, and his queen’s strength knows no bounds. I can’t wait for part two of this duet so I can get the answers I need!

Rhea + Maxwell OR Elysha + Maxwell

✔ Mafia Romance
✔ Love Triangle
✔ 3 years age difference
✔ Dual POV
✔ Cliffhanger

“You fight to let that dark demon within you be free once in a while. It’s for your own freedom from that demon. It’s always about your own freedom.”

Feelings :

- Writing style was kinda wattpad-ish. I dunno the actual word. It needed a bit improvement from the cliché type scenarios. Although sometimes it felt more like a typical werewolf book. Maxwell seemed to be a wannabe Alpha. But he’s just a beta male. He's really pathetic. I couldn't really picture him as a Satan as he kept behaving like a child.

- I love violence in my mafia books. This book was full of it. So yay! It satisfied my dark soul. Lol!😏

- I found some similarities with Fifty Shades Trilogy. Small stuff I mean. Like the masquerade ball and kinky stuff Maxwell and Elysha did etc.

- Honestly Maxwell disrespected everyone which was annoying. I mean who could actually survive alone without some trusted members in mafia? What’s the point of making so many unnecessary enemies when he could have loyal men in his pockets? That's one of the things I admire in mafia book. The loyalty between their group or family. So the lack of this kinda bummed me out.

- Rhea. I really liked her in the beginning. Her and Maxwell's chemistry was hot. But then I started to hate her when Elysha came along. Now I really loathe her.

- Every steamy scenes were hot. Like super hot. I loved it. 😉

- Honestly, I’m kinda feeling disgusted with Maxwell. I mean no matter how much open minded I was I just couldn’t digest love triangle well. In this case, it wasn’t even understandable. Because he kept comparing them. Maxwell fucked both of them. And I would’ve tolerated Maxwell‘s twisted feelings [Not in a good way] before he and Elysha started their relationship but he still thought about Rhea as well without any remorse. It honestly bothered me. I know he'd changed but still I couldn't just like him anymore. There’s a reason I hate love triangles. However, I can tolerate them when there's no sexual relationship involved. But that's not the case here.

- Elysha. I just loved her. She's such sweet soul. Strong yet vulnerable. Loved her name too.

Anyway, I started to really like this book. Now can't wait to read the final installment. Ugh! I need the ending. And wanna kill Rhea. The plot was predictable after a few chapters. But I still wanna read the next book. The writing didn't bother me. I just wish Maxwell was one of those strong but tortured hero and wasn't into Rhea. Overall, I really enjoyed it. Beautiful cover by the way.

Kingdom of Sinners by Shanjida Nusrath Ali, book 1 in the Bitter Love Due, is a dark mafia romance based in Russia primarily on the Russian brotherhood, the Bratva. This book revolves around three individuals, Elysha, Maxwell, and Rhea, and their complicated and disturbing pasts.

THIS BOOK! I had a serious book hangover after I finished because this book has so much going on, it’s dark, there’s a love triangle, and then there’s Maxwell. I mean come on! This guy is everything I want and expects from a king, someone with a dark and disturbing past. I was intrigued, enraptured, and addicted throughout!

Let’s talk about the characters, Maxwell, a ruthless king, scarred by his tormented past and his father’s shadow. He’s attractive, determined to get what he wants, and brutal in his approach. Rhea and Elysha are two mysterious women who enter Maxwell’s life. Each of them has a connection with Maxwell, their pasts are linked in the cruelest of ways and I genuinely teared up at some parts of this book. We see how these characters’ pasts define their attributes. With Rhea and Elysha, they are twins but are so different from each other and the author has done an outstanding job distinguishing the difference between the two.

I loved the mystery of this book, one thing I thought was interesting and made me continue reading was we didn’t find out Elysha’s name until maybe 20 or 30% of the book. This was a really interesting approach by the author and I have to say I really liked it because it added to the mysterious nature of the story and intrigue.

Reader discretion advised as this book contains some triggers, rape, sexual abuse, mention of child abuse, and violence. It’s quite dark, in some senses and might be difficult to read.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I’m looking forward to the conclusion of Rhea, Maxwell, and Elysha’s story in book 2 of the Bitter Love Duet because I need answers after the ending of this book!

When I started reading this book, I was double-minded, why? Because I thought the story had a fast pace, but I was wrong. I was so wrong. This book is crafted in such a way, that at one point it would make you speculate the results and then it would prove you untrue but it's twisted. And that is why I enjoyed reading this book.

The characters written by the lovely author are tremendous! And the saying, “The King, The Goddess and The Queen” was confirmed throughout the story. I loved how every character was well fit for their individuality and how they thoroughly kept steady. Maxwell, was the sinner, the king and what not? He was a very different character, mainly because yes, he was dark but not dark which is different and good. His past was arduous to read and the way his persona was built did do right. Rhea, okay! Wow! Even though I have a hell loads of hostilities against her but I cannot deny the fact that her character was incredible! Let's just ignore what I'm about to say because I hate her, *she's my favourite character from the book* She was a little goddess throughout, I've mostly read male characters as villains but reading her as a villain was favorable. Elysha, at the beginning I didn't like her because I started shipping Rhea and Max, but later when I worked out who she truly was and what her connection with Max was, she grew on me. Even though her character was a delicate, timid one, I also enjoyed reading it.

The overall story was well written! However, I was expecting a bit more advancement from Max's side. But, I know I'll see it in the next book because the cliff hanger which was dropped at the end had me. ❤️

PHENOMENAL STORY!!!

WTF! I am heartbroken, lost and a complete mess after finishing this book. The ending has shaken me and left me hanging on the edge of nothing! I need answers!!

This story is dark, gritty, raw, extremely emotional, completely intense and freaking twisted. Right from the very first chapter you are shocked, maybe crying a bit, literally on the edge of your seat, holding your breath, gnawing on your fingernails, just waiting to see what the hell is going to happen next. It’s a twisted mindfuck of epic proportions.

“Neither am I a hero, nor am I a villain. I’m the nightmare that haunts them both. I’m the Satan. The ruthless king born in hell.”

This amazing author knows just how to keep us readers enthralled and in suspense, dying to know who is going to die and who is going to live. She gets our emotions all messed up and has our brains exploding from all the twistedness contained in each chapter.

Absolutely brilliant writing, with phenomenal characters and a storyline that will having you choosing sides and hope that your side wins in the end. I am speechless begging for book two so that I can find out what freaking happens next.

It is a very dark and twisted book, but enjoyable just because of the love scenes of both of the girls just to get to Maxwell.. it is intriguing between them too... i can a near future that one of them may die to be with him is what i have seen in the book.. This book is very dark mafia and twisted for sure and i believe it will be darker in the 2nd book that is coming out later. All i want to say is beware because ill be honest in the beginning it is abit slow to get to the good action reading scenes but it will be better before halfway.
This is in my own opinion and received it earlier as an ARC copy.

OMG!! I LOVE THIS!!
It was very dark, twisted, steamy, emotional, page turner, you will be taken on a intense ride!!
It grabbed me right from the start, and I was on the edge of my seat the whole way through.
I loved the way this author wrote this with the past and present it really helped to understand and appreciate the story.
The story is told from Maxwell and Elysha's POV, l found it adds to the enjoyment of the book to know, what they were thinking and feeling.
I went through so many emotions and feelings and trying to guess where the story was going before it was revealed... I can tell you I didn't expect what happened!!

What a ending!!! it was very emotional, it had me in tears.
We are left hanging... and I wanted more!!!

Who won?
The king?
The goddess?
Or the queen?
You will have to read it for yourself and see!!!

I always enjoy darker stories and was thrilled to find this one by a new author to me, so thus, I have found a new author too. She certainly knows how to spin a tale, how to throw out lines and hook readers into her story, I was enmeshed from the very beginning and there wasn’t a dull moment all the way through.

The Russian Bratva is the playground for the monsters and their playthings, the country is of course Russia. The characters are all intriguing and dark in some way or another, well maybe not Maxwell’s mother. Backstabbing and murder is just another day at the office and betrayal runs rampant. Maxwell is arrogant and ruthless, as you would expect, but there’s something about him that I like, I just can’t make myself totally dislike him. His traumatic past has coloured his future too and the author very cleverly weaves this into the story.

The Queen and Godess are both very strong women to have survived the traumas they’ve suffered too. However, they are both very determined and seek more out of life than expected of their situation. This whole area is mired in clever plotting and weaving of facts and hints. With huge twists and turns it’s one very exciting and entertaining story, especially with that ending! Bring on the second half!

Great read!

I was surprised to find only a handful of reviews on this book (most being very highly rated) so I decided to give it a chance. The plot for this book was enthralling and kept me engaged. There’s definitely some questions I have that I hope get answered in the second book, but I hope this author gets more recognition for her work!

Maxwell the new Pakhan of Russia has trouble brewing on all sides in this kingdom. When he walks into his underground place a beautiful feisty bartender catches his eyes. Rhea gives him a run for his money but what they share is short lived. At the same time Maxwell comes across a slave who is a lookalike of Rhea. Elysha craves freedom but however becomes a house guest of Maxwell...all three circling around trust love and revenge muddled with their interconnected past.....how, who, what will happen next...?? Read this book to find out🙊
𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆? 𝑨𝒎 𝑰 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒄𝒂𝒑𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒊𝒕? 𝑾𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝑰 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒃𝒆?
Maxwell is all ruthless cocky and totally infuriating. Initially I liked Rhea she seemed sweet at first but she started losing my love after the way it turned out between Maxwell & her and when Elysha was introduces she stole my heart she was wholesome and the way she tries to stand for herself makes me love her more. The glimpses of the past we get was mostly told in Maxwells pov and a tiny bit through Elysha.
This book was so well written. Kudos to @shanjidanusrathali_author for that. Only thing I found hard was that she described Rhea and Elysha as both queen and goddess. On one hand it is kind of suspenseful😎 on who is who but on other hand it is hard to associate with their personality 🥺 and it makes me difficult on getting to know them better individually (choosing whom to root and borderline mad at them both😅😅)
After reading CMH I was expecting more suspenseful twist in this book but it was pretty straightforward. Hopefully it happens in next book along with Rhea’s pov (which I want more than anything) but until then I am rooting for team Elysha…
Can’t wait to find out who wins the battle!!!

I'm struggling to even put this into words!

WHAT.A.BOOK. I'm so annoyed with myself that I sat on it for so long. It had me hooked from the start and the plot twists, girll you have ruined me 🤣.

“𝘏𝘶𝘳𝘵 𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵, 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘨𝘪𝘳𝘭. 𝘎𝘦𝘵 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘩𝘶𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘚𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘯 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘯 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘱𝘢𝘪𝘯. 𝘚𝘰, 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘵,”

Maxwell is an absolute savage and has no heart, he dont just live in the darkness, he IS the darkness, but after you read what he has been through as a little boy you understand why he is the way he is. When it starts of the way it does, I had in my head how I thought it was going to go. Let's just say, that took a turn because it most definatly did not!

When Elysha enters this story, I still couldn't work out what was happening which had me all that more intrigued. Then it's just one insane twist after the other that will leave your jaw on the floor!

My heart was breaking a lot in this book, some parts will tear your heart out but other parts will make you swoon hard.

Maxwell is not gentle in any aspect and when he has his women 🥵🥵 holy hell its SO HOT!

If you love your mafia romances then this is 100% for you! It was amazing! I feel so fortunate that I'm beta reading the next book in this series as that ending😳😳 na I'm not ok at all!! I Would not be able to wait until 23rd December🤣.

“𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘮𝘺𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧.”
“𝘋𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘮𝘦?”
“𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘰.”

**This is a DARK Mafia romance so please have this in mind as there are triggers**

As always, Shanjida took me on another helluva ride!

This book had so many twists and turns that I had to break out my trustee notebook again to start trying to figure out what the heck was going on.

This book crushed me in the end, but who doesn’t need to be crushed every once in awhile...right! I have no doubt that I will have redemption when the second book comes out, so I’m gonna keep hope alive!

This book tells the story of Maxwell. I had no idea he went through all the things he did and that what shaped him into the man he became! There were times I wanted to knock the snot outta him, but I see now he had his reasons!

I have so many theories about what will happen next but I can’t share any of them, I don’t want anybody getting any ideas that I know what’s about to happen, I’m playing the guessing game here lol!

But I KNOW Shanjida will NOT disappoint in the next installment to this series! This book is a definite MUST READ!!! Loved every minute of the ride it took me on!

Ok so I had to sit for a while with this review because I didn't know what to write exactly. Don't get me wrong, I still don't. But this book surely deserves some words.

First of all, I had A LOT OF mixed feelings from the beginning, thinking who is the main character, who this person is, how is he connected to all of this, what is going to happen... DOES THIS EVEN GOING TO END WITH AT LEAST SOME ANSWERS?

And I'm saying all this as a very positive thing because it gets you engaged in a book, its plot and characters. You choose sides (I sure as hell did and it wasn't even me wishing for a couple to be together), you question your sanity while you choose sides and I'm here for it.

This book is worth the read. YES, IT REALLY IS!
Even if it's long - and as I edited it this was me being annoyed that I CAN read faster but unfortunately I CAN'T edit faster.

3⭐️ This book had so much potential, but there were a few things that made it lacking. Such as the cringe and overuse of ‘kings and queens’ and ‘I’m darkness and satan’ 🫠
Yeah those were a little too much and didn’t have the effect it was supposed to give. The actual story + concept of this book is good, it’s different with some decent twists which I liked.

Towards the end of the book however where they suddenly love each other and passionately, dramatically keep pouring their undying love for each other - when he literally kept calling her his slave and that he didn’t love because he’s Satan 💀 ??

I’m still gonna finish the duet so let’s hope for the best!
