I wrote Waterproof in the first flush of being a writer in 1999. I showed it to two friends, both writers, and they liked it. I sent it to the professionals, they didn't. They said it was too much sex to be a romance and not enough crime to be a thriller. To me it was about life as a working woman, which is probably a mix of both crime and romance with hard work and comedy thrown in. However, if I leave it in a file under the bed any longer it will qualify as a historical novel! See what you think, it won't win the Orange Prize, but I hope you enjoy it with your feet up, a cup of tea and a ginger biscuit!
