This whole underground villain headquarters saga has been going on for far too long as more battles are introduced and completed at lightning-quick speed. There isn't much that's as exciting as it used to be, remaining entertaining nonetheless.

The story becomes more interesting, but I think, there are too many fillers.

The disciplining heard around the city.

Just as a warning for those unaware of the One-Punch man series can sometimes be slightly mature such as bloody combat, tight outfits, and in at least one scene here a monster named Super S being tied up and whipped with her own weapon so the series might not be for the more sensitive readers. For those complaining there has not been enough Saitama rejoice for as the heroes attempt to rescue the hostages while eliminating foes from the Monster Association Saitama is getting closer to the truth about those below him making to much noise and bothering him. As you might notice if you have access to the back cover of the volume the main man even has some time to freshen up in a bit of lava after his long trek through the underground monster lair.

The battle lines are drawn as Atomic Samurai's boys and the squad formally enslaved by Super S find themselves not just fighting small fries but the Evil Mineral Water joins the fight and it is not healthy. Tornado in the mean time discovers Gyoro-Gyoro and in battling him a secret they have been hiding. The new (unofficial) Blizzard Gang are discovered by Super S as she seeks out Amai Mask, who spotlights the cover this time around, as the playboy hero himself is elsewhere discovering his worse nightmare in the monster President Ugly. Of course like I said before we see more Saitama as he deals with the monstrous monster dog Pochi, the cat-like Nyan, and confronts the deadly Orochi as we learn about an ancient prophecy. Ready for some action because here it comes. :)

This volume is good, we even get a bunch Saitama goodness. Did he defeat the biggest baddest monster without a punch? By taking a bath? I guess the baddie survived, but love the temple painting.
Oh and King so that is kind of cool. Tornado kicked but as well, that was also cool. This was a good read.

Now I'm sad because the next volume in English is not due for a couple of months!!! What will I do until then? I need more One Punch Man!

Divertido volumen

Un par de peleas importantes, mas King, mas la dominatrix y el agua natural
Considerando esas dos peleas, ahora que seguira??

Eso si, el dibujo es genial

Starts with the unleashing of a new monster. I liked the contents page. Finally, Saitama meets Orochi. The misunderstanding with King was painfully funny. King beating a monster just standing there was cool. Blizzard and S getting a rematch, as well as Amai mask meeting his match. Felt sorry for him, but it was nice to see his cool mask fall apart.

Saitama’s back to being hilarious, the arc is almost? over and the tease of an even bigger threat is really exciting.

There were some good moments in this installment but nothing special. I do like King's character a lot though. His moments definitely make me laugh a bit.

The fights in this volume may not have been as long or as impressive as the Boros fight, but I still enjoyed them. I had a huge LOL moment when the full mural was shown at the end—revealing that Orochi, who believed the ancient mural depicted him as a god receiving sacrifices from humans, was actually just another sacrifice being offered by humans to the true god.

It's funny moments like these that make One Punch Man such an easy read for me. Not to mention the comedy which remains surprisingly good and consistent, the interesting story full of compelling and likable characters, and the art and fight sequences which are just fucking Phenomenal. At this rate, I'll have to pick up the web comic once I'm done with the manga

In my review of Vol 23 I lamented the fact that we hadn't seen much of Saitama for a while and this rescue mission/monster lair invasion felt like it was taking too long. I am happy to report that this volume features plenty of Saitama and in fine form. Monster King Orochi steps forward in this volume and we see moves like GAIA CANON! Fear not, our hero has a trick or two up his sleeve, like a Killer Move from the Serious Series.

While the heroes are still trying to make their way back to the surface, this was a big step forward in this story arc and hopefully we are nearing the conclusion. Bang and Bomb are still searching for Garo, but it also feels like that confrontation is the next big set piece. This wasn't a return-to-form for the series, but it did have a lot of life and some familiar themes.

Some awesome stuff happened in this volume. I wish they'd release the volumes faster. There is so much time between the physical volumes. Maybe, I should read the digital releases? But then I'd have to buy the volumes when they release as I already own all the books released so far. This is annoying.

A lot of heroes fighting Cadres one on one. Reminds me a bit of the Espada arc in Bleach. Not much to comment on other than the fights are cool.

I enjoyed this more than 23, and am excited to see where the prophecy takes us (if they keep up with it). Blizzard v. Super S was also entertaining. The fight continues, but I’m less annoyed.

While it has moments of awesomeness, thanks to Saitama, Tornado, and King, volume 24 felt uninspired overall. The supposed megafight that makes reading OPM very satisfying ended rather unceremoniously that the amount of time invested in reading the whole Monster HQ arc felt almost unrewarding.

The skirmishes that happened post-climax also went on longer than they are supposed to be. The writing was a bit messy, and doesn't have that focus that made me thoroughly enjoy reading the beginning chapters of this arc.

It was at least an entertaining read, a happy distraction that made me relax in between the pressures of life I have been experiencing at the moment.

Like, the manga is good I can’t say anything on it, but I just don’t like how in every manga, there’s always a gigantic fight that lasts like 100 chapters. I like when fights are a few chapters, and there’s breaks and all in between them. This is one is so long now I can’t even remember not reading that fight

Pinch me - I'm actually reviewing another Volume of One Punch Man.

Volume 24 represents a high-water mark in the Monster Association arc, and yes, I am damning with faint praise there. It's great to finally Saitama vs. Orochi and Tornado vs. Gyoro-Gyoro, but they are only the standouts of this arc because, structurally, it's time for a boss fight - not because they actually earn it through storytelling. They are welcome reliefs amidst an arc replete with endless slush, but at the end of the day, what do we really get out of them other than Murata's exceptional spectacle? Don't get me wrong: I had a lot of fun with Vol. 24, and I've long accepted that One Punch Man isn't really telling a story anymore. Doesn't mean I can't keep bringing it up! 😊

The Highlights:

Merc group vs. Evil Water
Wow have I never given a shit about the merc group. In the middle of all the crazy, it's been so easy to forget they exist - which is a shame, because they should provide us with a more human perspective on this nonsense. As if to prove my point, ONE even gets a surprising amount of mileage out of killing one of them off in a rare permanent death for a human character! Classic case of too little, too late, I fear, but hey, I'll take it.

Tornado vs. Gyoro-Gyoro
One of the two focal points of this arc that I had heard about ahead of time and it's...surprisingly anti-climactic! I get that this is probably because Gyoro-Gyoro is not really done with, and in fact may have an even stranger phase that's about to be unveiled (I don't really know what Tornado's last line is about, but hey ho). It looks cool as fuck, but this felt like a squandered opportunity to push Tornado as a character. Instead, she just kicks Gyoro-Gyoro around for a few and shrugs off all his supermassive attacks like nothing. Which makes her as good as Saitama Mark 2 on a power level. Odd.

Saitama vs. Orochi
Well, I was expecting Lord Boros-levels of significance, but at the end of all these volumes, Saitama really does deal with Orochi in exactly the manner you think he will. The art is superb, the direction is deranged, and the writing for Saitama is spot-on in its cheekiness (Water Gun!). But we're too deep into the arc for this not to feel odd. After all the importance and extended fights given to this storyline, Saitama swatting it out of existence in a single chapter doesn't feel like a subversion - it just feels like a different kind of full-stop. Also, I enjoy the prophecy stuff for Orochi, and the reveal of God at the end, but like...I can't really get too invested in this narrative trajectory. Saitama vs. God is not a story - it's a punchline that you achieve just by typing it out. Unless ONE can push that battle in a less traditional direction, I'm not sure what separates it from any other.

Super S AGAIN
For Fuck's Sake OPM! Can't you let a thing be finished?! Apparently not, and Super S comes back for a rematch against Blizzard that feels totally unnecessary after her death scene just two volumes ago. Probably the low point of the volume, just for how much time it wastes.

Amai Mask vs. President Ugly
What the fuck is this series doing with Amai Mask? He feels like a potential super-sized Big-Bad, and is a fantastic character idea in a world that has a Hero Association. Then they reveal he's possibly a monster, which is a neat extension of his traits, before this Volume reveals...he doesn't like Ugliness? Sure? It just feels like such a swerve into two-dimensional jokiness just as we're digging deeper? There's something here, and maybe I'm being cynical, but I don't see how this will yield anything truly interesting.

The Result:
I'm giving up on the MA arc having any real concrete meaning to it. Just finish it already. Please. I would like to actually see what an ending to OPM looks like before I turn 90.

FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! This volume is all action all the time and such a page turner! You get to see the Heroes vs the Monster Association on multiple fronts and they are all enjoyable! My favorite battle of them all has to be Saitama vs. Lord Orochi! Runner up has to be President Ugly vs. Amai Mask! It is hard to not enjoy each and every interaction. One thing I dont know if its cultural or just writing style but manga writers have the ability to juggle more characters being developed then traditional comics appear to...in my opinion at least. This volume would not mean much to a new reader, but if you have been running with team One & Yusuke Murata until now...it's almost without any faults!

Saitama taking a bath in the middle of a villains monologue is a mood.

This volume was fun. Saitama was highlighted far more, which was good to see, because he has been sidelined for most of the last few volumes. Also, Tornado is getting some love, which I am all for. I'm curious to see where the series goes next because Saitama has taken out Orochi already, which means Garo is the biggest problem now. Is he strong enough now that Saitama might actually have to work in a fight against him?

We shall have to see.
