Rate this book
She’s afraid to love again, but he’s only asking for one date …

Six years after being widowed, Madison has centered her life around being a mom to her daughter. Everyone around her seems to think she should be ready to date, but the idea of being with another man overwhelms her. She wonders if she’ll ever be willing to take a risk on another romantic relationship.

Up until two years ago, Michael spent his life traveling the globe as a photographer's assistant. All that changed when he developed a very successful app for photographers. With his recent notoriety in the tech industry, women seem to mostly want him for his status or money. Michael had given up hope of ever meeting someone he could see a future with ... until he's set up with Madison as his plus-one for an event.

Madison is everything Michael could hope for in a woman. Can he convince her he’s the man worth taking a chance on?

Love it.

I enjoyed this sweet read so much. Maddy and Michael are wonderful characters. I am looking forward to reading more in the series.
Things I liked in the story. It's a clean read. It mentions Michael going to church but not Maddy. It mentions saying Grace at the meals. Michael is very family oriented. Maddy is so sweet and devoted to her little girl.
The only thing is ...I wished Olivia would have been a little more 6 young than 6 going on 30 old. But it didn't take away from the story.
I'm a southern girl so appreciate that they maintained their southern drawl. ;). Totally recommend this book.

Really cute and funny! I loved the characters, the world-building, the humor, and the different relationships. The only things I wish it had more of were a faith thread and more of a wrap-up with the other characters in previous books.

Favorite quotes:
“This does not sound promising. But the idea of a risk-free night out that might get my three amigas off my back about dating could be worth it. I mean, what's the worst that could happen?” (ch 3)

“Sitting on the couch, I feel like every first date scene in every romantic movie ever. That thought makes me laugh to myself.” (ch 5)

“It's a simple gesture—so unfamiliar yet comforting. It's been ages since a man touched me that way, and I like more than I think I should.” (ch 5)

“'Yeah, because designing an app is just so natural. Most of us sit around: I'm bored. I think I'll just design an app,' I joke. Then I realize I must be feeling pretty at ease to let Michael see the slightly snarky side of my personality.” (ch 5)

“Joy. My girl is sheer joy.” (ch 10)

“Some people seriously love algebra. God bless 'em.” (ch 10) – I agree ;)

“Courtney could talk circles around a filibuster, and I couldn't be more pleased at her nonstop chatter right now.” (ch 10)

“Ironically, I find myself having a crush on my fake boyfriend who doesn't even know he's my fake boyfriend. Talk about a hot mess.” (ch 12)

“I make sure not to breathe a word of my plans to any of my family. I imagine them setting up a stakeout to spy on us or something similarly invasive.” (ch 13)

“I never knew how deeply I wanted a family of my own until these two made their stealth entry into my life and heart.” (ch 18)

“I guess we have been lulled into a false sense of temporary security. It's the quiet before the bomb goes off—the detonation that will obliterate everything we've been establishing and leave nothing but rubble in its wake.” (ch 20)

“'...there aren't words for the kind of missing I was doing. It was like Olympic-level missing. If they gave out awards for the most miserable guy in this state, I'd have won by a landslide.'” (ch 24)

“Olivia has more sense than my husband right now and that thought makes me smile.” (Epilogue)

This is the second book I’ve read by this author and it was delightful and great. I started and didn’t want to stop. Unfortunately, it was bedtime but first thing this morning, I got my book and dived back to bed to finish (it was too cold here in Florida to get out of bed!). This book has three amazing characters that you just pull you in. The mom, Madison, is a single mom raising her daughter Olivia. Since Olivia’s father, Madison’s high school sweetheart died in service, Olivia hasn’t had a daddy and Madison hasn’t let her heart open for a man. Then Michael, has spent his time as a work alcoholic and doesn’t have time for a relationship and feels women only see his money not him. The sweet little 6 year old Olivia is just about the sweetest little girl. The author really did a great job of describing to me the perfect 6 year old! When Michael is up for an award he needs a plus one. His friend hooks him up with Madison. When they met for the awards, they both recognized each other from a few weeks ago at Olivia's school. He’s helping the school in technology and she helps teachers and the school. She was not expecting this good looking man as her date, more of a balding old man. And Michael was stunned at what his heart did upon seeing her again. They have a great time and start to see each other more often. Madison has feelings for him but concerned about Olivia and how they should move forward. The characters are well written and the story is great. This book will definitely make you want to read the entire series!

I absolutely loved this story so much. The emotions I felt literally brought me to tears on occasion. It was a clean and wholesome, very romantic story with all the feels.

Madison had lost the love of her life in Afghanistan. All she had left was their daughter, Olivia, who he had never met. Olivia was now a very precocious six year old. Madison's friends finally convinced her it was time to start dating again. Actually, she only agreed to one date but at least it was something.

Michael had decided not to date anymore because of his recent dating experiences. It seemed the women only wanted to be with him because of his increasing wealth. It wasn't about getting to know who he was. But, he needed a plus one for an award ceremony so he asked his friend to help him out. Madison was his plus one.

I loved the way Madison and Michael's relationship developed and how the story dealt with the grief and loss that Madison experienced and how understanding Michael was. I also loved that they took into consideration Olivia's feelings and how their relationship would affect her. I won't give away any more of the story but know there is a happy ending.

I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.

I've read all the books in this series, and was so excited to discover Michael (Kat's assistant in Book 1) would end up with his own story. He was a sweetheart in Kat and Jack's story, and I knew he'd be someone I'd want to get to know more.

Patty didn't disappoint! Once again her story was weaved with a realness of emotion and grief (Oh, Maddy!), and her storytelling had me swiping the pages in my Kindle app, desperate to know how the story would end.

A beautiful tale of friendship and unknown/uncharted territory for both Maddy and Michael. Read the entire series to gain even more insight into both of these gorgeous characters. 😁

NB I received an ARC of this novel.

Michael needs a plus one for an awards thing he has to go to. He asks his friend Brett if he might know someone. Madison is tired of her sister and her friends harping on her starting to date. She says her daughter Olivia is all she needs. Then her friend Danea says she knows someone who needs a date for one night.

This is such a sweet, cute book. Filled with romance and meddling family and friends. Olivia is just the cutest. Well written with laughter and tears, great combination for a romance book.

I was given this advanced copy for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Winning the Single Mom's Heart is a sweet, emotional, heartwarming, second chance romance. For me this book has it all. The characters felt so real. I felt Maddy's grief. Olivia is a scene stealer - so well written. Michael is so swoon worthy; he is so tender with Maddy. This is a well told story about life that includes more than mourning and work. I would give it way more than five stars if that were possible!

Slow Middle

This is a calm, sweet romance without any dramatic highs or lows for the reader. This made for a very slow middle. The characters were lovely, the sense of place sharper than usual for a sweet romance, and the writing excellent. It is the kind of story I like when I am lying in bed with a fever with no energy for anything dramatic. But for everyday I would have appreciated more action.

This was a such a good story! It was tender and emotional. I enjoyed watching Michael and Madison find each other and overcome their struggles to be together. The flashbacks added a sweet, emotional element to the story. And Olivia was such an adorable addition. I have enjoyed this series of books and would highly recommend reading.

Good story with well done characters!

Michael is much more ready to find his "one" and settle down than Madison is.

She found her "one" as a kid, married him and is now widowed.

Her daughter is a good excuse for keeping this new relationship on a "friends" level, but their feelings grow beyond friends.

This book was probably my favorite in the series! Olivia was such a fun, spunky character, the flashbacks were like a bonus second love story, and I loved their story as whole. It was perfectly sweet, happy read with just enough real emotion to warrant a few, refreshing tears.

Great story

A great story full of humor. Olivia is 6, opinionated, out-going, & full of life. She's the life of the party.

The 2 adults struggle to find answers & to know the right thing to do.

Sharing Daddy's heart

Maddy is a great Mom to Olivia. Maddy lost Olivia's Dad shortly after Olivia was born. From there things go from good to bad to painful. How fan you mend broken hearts?
