The Preor came to Earth with open arms and hopes that they’d find their mates. They were greeted with closed fists and utter hatred.

Livvy holds no love for the Preor. They said they came in peace, but she didn’t believe them for a hot second. They claimed they wished to work together for a greater future for both races. Yeah, she didn’t buy that one at all.

And yet, when they told her she was fated for one of the dragon-shifting aliens… she knew in her heart that it was true.

It was not the Choosing that Radoo had anticipated through the centuries with anxiety-laden hope. Besides, while he fields most of the command duties of the Preor Third Fleet, he has no time for a mate. Or so he believes.

Radoo’s world is rocked when he comes into contact with Livvy and the Knowing affects him. But what happens when the human fated to be his hates him and everything he stands for? When she belongs to the Resistance who will stop at nothing to drive the Preor aliens from Earth?

Truly, what is Radoo to do when he discovers that his mate is his enemy?

2.5 stars. This is my honest review of this book which I read through Kindle Unlimited.
Losing that gripping and entertaining intensity from the first books. This series has suffered since being co-written with another author. I haven’t found one heroine in the last three books likeable.
Absolutely HATED the unredeemable heroine Livvy and wasn’t keen on the direction this series is going. Losing the emotion, humour and differentiation that is started with. Now becoming politically slanted.
How can anyone be expected to want this poor excuse for a human being as a heroine.
I finished this book because hey, it’s a Preor story, but I just couldn’t like or forgive Livvy her ignorance, stupidity, naivety and lack of spine. It made it impossible to like her or feel sorry for her, no matter what happened to her. And it is sad she never redeems herself.
An AWOL soldier, who gives bomb making knowledge to a terrorist resistance group. She deserved to be put in prison, not become a Preor mate with all the privileges of that.
She also changes her mind and emotions towards Radoo for no real reason. I don’t fit in anywhere so this will do thinking. I just didn’t feel any emotional connection or vibe coming from her.
I enjoyed my time amongst the other Preor and couples and Penelope’s crazy antics with the beetles were entertaining.
I don’t agree or like the fact all the senior masters have just abandoned their jobs and responsibilities.
Everyone can have a home life and work too. The excuse about the babies needing watching due to spitting fire is a poor one. Build a fire proof crèche.
Poor Radoo, struggling to do everything with untrained staff, then he gets a mate no Preor warrior should get. The knowing screwed up as far as I’m concerned.
Adored Radoo, he was marvellous and though it was due to his mate being a resistance fighter, he did acknowledge that change is needed in Preor thinking.
Sad to say, this series has not been the same since Ms Kyle shipped it out to other authors which is more often than not the case.
At one point Livvy is called Lan.

This is soo unfortunate. This book and the couple before were not good. I dont know what happened with this series but at the beginning it was FABULOUS one of my favorites but when the co-writing started something definitely shifted. This is going to seem harsh but I just think she should wrap this series up and move on. The problem with co-writing on something that was a singular authors work for quite a while before its changed doesnt always work well. Not every time but this time definitely didnt work. I dont know if they are trying to go in a different direction and we're not understanding or they arent introducing it to us very good. I dont know. Is it something she's fazing out? I mean if the writing is like this I think perhaps its time to call it quits on this series. I know that sounds bad and I dont mean to be harsh. I love this series and I am grossly disappointed in the direction it went. I know my points are valid because I am not the only one who thinks so. Not everyone agrees and many probably enjoyed it but I didnt. I do NOT like giving negative reviews but sometimes I gotta be honest and tell how I feel.

No. Just no.

I don’t know what the heck happened with this book, but I don’t recognize the characterization of the Preor at all. And I despise the main female character. A lot. Is this really the series’ original author, or did she let some hack do this one and they just put her name on it? Much like a favorite television series where the show writers loose their minds and completely ruin an entire season’s worth of shows, I am going to pretend that this book never happened. It is truly awful from start to finish.

Soooo, I love this series. Have from day one. However, the tone this book took is disturbing. The heroine is shocking racist throughout. Instead of wishing to foster unity, she’s pushing for segregation, West Bank style.

Also, no commander would listen to an AWOL solider turned domestic terrorist. And, they betray her, sexually assault her, torture her, attempt to kill her and threaten INFANTICIDE and still she won’t tell them there is a higher up helping....ugh

Last one...

I started reading this series from the Ujal. The writing was much better in the beginning. Now, the stories are not cohesive, the characters are so shallow you feel nothing for them. Whelon was a total wreck but I tried one more time with the series because I like Celia Kyle, but no more. This is it for me...

Did not like the main characters

Skipped through to the end after the first few chapters. The characters were too wishy washy and seemed kind of stupid to me. Glad I got to read this with kindle unlimited instead of buying it. The first Preor stories were a lot better.

This story has continued the latter books theme of rebellion and anti alien sentiment, giving it quite a real-life feel. Radoo, and Livvy, certainly deserved happiness, and while their path was quite twisted, they find it together with patience, support and communication.

Poor Radoo

Poor guy, he gets everything poured on top of him, and he's really trying to get everything working, without much help.

I like Livvy, but I think that she's a bit naive

Not good at this time...

With all that is going on, I find a respite in a HEA.
This was sad, hurtful, people believing that they want nothing from different people from themselves. I can watch the news for that. I can look at the followers of Hitler and Trump if I want to feel overwhelmed and impotent to find goodness at large.

Sort of disappointed

So I have read all of the previous Dragon of Preor books multiple times. I enjoy this series and I was very excited that there was a new book. While my love of the series, and the Author(I have read and enjoyed other series written by her) kept me reading the book I really didn’t enjoy it. I did not like Radoo’s mate. I think that he could have done better. The whole book I kept hoping that she would do something to make up for her to stupid to live attitude, but it just kept getting worse. Even at the end when you are suppose to be cheering for her and hoping she is rescued, you kind hope they just kill her already. Finally at the end it is so unbelievable (why would armed forces put a known deserter in command) that you are just glad that it is finally over. While I understand that she was trying to push her series plot, I feel bad for Radoo. In fact, I have felt bad for him almost since she introduced him, and his new mate doesn’t change that. 😞

Least favorite of all Preor books, for one reason: Livvy. I couldn't stand her, not even at the end. She was extremely stupid and naive. She never redeemed herself. I don't know how any of the Preor or their mates could stand to be around her after the things she did, and the attitudes that NEVER CHANGED. Also the end of the story wasn't much of an end. I sure hope the next story will NOT feature her as the MC.

I love Celia Kyle’s books but this one was not a winner for me.

Seems like when a Preor finds his mate, he loses sight of anything else such as job responsibility. Poor Radoo is left holding down the fort because the Masters who mated are hanging out with their mates. Just doesn’t seem to fit based on how they were introduced at the beginning of the series.

Didn’t care too much for Livvy. Military deserter who gets hooked up with a group whose leadership she doesn’t really like. She seems a little stupid if she didn’t think they were going to use the knowledge she gave them to actually harm people.

I can see moving in the direction of women who don’t trust the Preor but being won over by them or women who were following orders of their leaders but Libby’s situation just didn’t sit well with me.

With every book, I'm beginning to wonder more and more how the Preor ever survived as a functioning society on their home planet. Every time a dragon finds his fated mate, said dragon stops being a responsible and functioning member of their fleet. Radoo takes notice of this, as have several other dragons, but then they find their perfect human and it's all "Later, bro!" to their fellow dragons, regardless of whatever mortal danger their kinsmen might be in. Honestly, Ms Kyle puts a whole new meaning to the phrase "whipped" and not in a good, fun, sexy way.

I would not recommend this book to other reader and would probably go so far as to tell readers NOT to read this series since it has steadily declined with the past seven or eight books.

This is an OK sci-fi alien romance, but I found it really hard to like Livvy. It might have helped if the book had given more of her backstory, so that the reader could have understood exactly why she joined the resistance. It gets 3 stars from me.

Radoo was likable, and I liked that he still cared for Livvy even though she was a member of the Preor resistance movement. I get that he loved her because of "The Knowing", but she really didn't deserve his love.

I just didn't like Livvy much at all. I really needed to know exactly why she joined the resistance, and why she was so terribly afraid of the Preors. She did explain to the Preors near the end of the book why many humans were afraid of them -- but she never said exactly what her reasons were.

Another thing that didn't make sense was that Livvy was trained in military maneuvers and weapons, and had been a respected soldier -- yet she couldn't see that two of the resistance leaders were actually terrorists? She even thought one of them was totally creepy, but she still shared her knowledge with them? And then she didn't notice that the "smoke bombs" they had made were actually real bombs? When she taught them how to make them? I just didn't buy it.

I would have liked an epilogue, several months (or even years) into their future -- one that addressed how things were going between the Preors and the human resistance, as well as the couple's relationship.

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

Different from the others in the series.

Radoo’s story is much different from the others in the series. It has a darker tone that isn’t balanced with Penelope’s humor as the others were. I missed that. There was also more internal conflict in this one as well as much more external conflict. While that provided a deeper emotional toil to the story, it didn’t always advance the plot. It almost sounded like internal rambling without a point. Some elements I’m in in the other books was missing in this one as well as some world-building items that was added here but was never in any other book.

Both Livvy and Radoo are Warriors thrust into leadership roles neither wanted. There story is told much more from a grunt soldiers point of view which I found distracting as it wasn’t the POV of the other books. Though as retired military myself, I did like the home truths regarding war and combat peppered through out that only another military person would fully understand. The problem is, it really wasn’t a war book. Even the Preor were shown in a negative way that annoyed me.

There were two major issues I had with this book which is why I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 star

***SPOILER ALERT**** I’m adding this part so authors will know specifically what bothered me. Don’t read if you don’t want to read a spoiler.

The first is how gross and repugnant I found it when Radoo ate the bad guy in his dragon form and acted like he enjoyed it. It seemed too close to cannibalism to me and was just repulsive. One sentient being should not eat another. That is wrong on so many levels.

***END OF SPOILER***

The second thing I did not like was the abrupt ending.
For all the build up, it seemed both anti-climactic and incomplete. Would I recommend reading this one? I have so many mixed feelings on this book but I actually would recommend reading it while Livvy and Radoo are not the typical Preor/Human mating, there are some good parts to the book. Hopefully, the next book will clear up the issues with this one and provide a better plot regarding the resistance as well as who is actually running it.

This book continues on about how the whole Preor social structure is failing because they can't be married and keep doing their jobs. Apparently it's just too much. It makes no sense.

DNF at 85 % (Edit: I somehow finished it.)

I tried, I really tried. I kept hoping it will get better - it doesn't.
The hero is OK and I kept reading because of him.
The heroine is an extremist terrorist. At the beginning she is giddy about smoke bombing a public gathering (she knows that people might get hurt and that there are children at the gathering).

The biggest strike against this book is making the heroine an extremist terrorist. I like my antiheroes but this went too far.

Radoo is stressed. The burden of commanding the ship and leading the men has fallen on him. As so many Preors find their mate, they have been leaving their job behind to care for their mate. This leaves the ship very short-handed with hardly anyone qualified to fill in the empty jobs. In one day a fire was started in the training room which couldn't be put out because the pipes had burst and flooded the growing area. The ship's AI is constantly been complaining about bugs driving her nuts so Radoo is worried she is going crazy until he opens panels in the engine room and thousands of beetles fall out. Now he is expected to go to a formal ball on Earth. Before the ball the resistance acted as terrorists and exploded bombs at the festival with all the children and families.
As he is running to help, he runs across his destined mate. The big problem is that she is part of the resistance and she set the bombs.

Livvy was a member of the US military until she ended up near a situation involving the Preors' The fact that the Preors were so powerful and alien scared her. She was unhappy with the way it seemed they were taking over her world so she decided to join the resistance. She taught them things the military taught her like fighting, explosives and weapons. Now it is time for a big attack. The resistance was planning to set of seven smoke bombs to scare people and get their voices heard. She planted the smoke bombs herself. but when the first one went off, it was a real bomb. Not wanting anyone to get badly hurt or killed she tried to stop the bombs but she ran into Radoo and had to cope with the Knowing. Livvy is torn between her feelings for Radoo and her discomfort with how the Preor is ignoring the human's fears.

When the Preor came to Earth they had open arms and hoped to find their mates. However, many met them with a closed fist and hatred. Livvy certainly holds no love for the Preor race - their claims of coming in peace or working together for the good of both races don't ring true to her either. But when she is told that she is fated for a Preor Warrior, she knows in her heart that it is true. Radoo did not experience a choosing in the standard sense especially as he currently does most of the command duties of the Preor Third Fleet and believes he has no time for a mate. His world is rocked when he comes into contact with Livvy and is affected by the Knowing. But to find out that she hates him and everything he stands for, plus she is a member of the Resistance that will stop at nothing to rid the Earth of the Preor. How can Radoo change things when his mate is his enemy - can they ever be other or are they faced with a painful death?

This was certainly an interesting spin on the fated mate story and had many instances of danger and drama involving the resistance members. I liked the way that the story ended although I did not enjoy some of the content in between - I think I just grew a little tired of Livvy and some of her attitudes even though I could clearly understand the resentments and how they occurred. Some parts were enjoyable and well written, and some parts were just irritating and monotonous. Contains some sexual content.

Love thine enemy

Aliens have come to Earth. They are humanoid but have wings and can change into a dragon! They are also all hardened warriors and they all want mates! They bring with them advanced knowledge in medicine and science and the world’s politicians welcome them with open arms and promise them women. How would you feel? You’re a woman and you’re being offered up to these beings as mates? No way! You’re a man and suddenly there are these tough, rich aliens looking to take your women and what are you left with? They’re taking over cities and people are being displaced so you think “no way”! But who is going to listen to you? Nobody! And that’s how resistance movements begin.
The Preor and Earth’s politicians don’t understand why some people don’t accept the changes. Radoo only knows that all his superiors have found their mates and he’s been left to run the ship without enough trained warriors. On top of that he has to go down to Earth to do the pretty at a big affair to promote Earth/Preor relations.
Livvy is a member of the resistance, an ex soldier well versed in weaponry and bomb making. She is used by the Resistance leaders and realises it too late. Then she and Radoo meet and The Knowing takes them both. The rest is inevitable.

Livvy thinks that the Preor are fabricating a lie. They came to Earth and now they are having Choosings and taking over areas. She doesn’t believe that they are friendly. Her and the Resistance plan to make a show of force but she doesn’t want anyone hurt. Things take a turn and Liv has to make it right but experiences more then she thought. Radoo has been tasked with so many things. He is over worked and they need a better way to dole out tasks to other Preor. With some of the Preor wanting to explore their new home, they are being strectched thin. When his duty takes him to one a gathering with humans, he doesn’t expect to find his mate.
The Preor only wanted to help but some humans saw them taking everything from them. Taking their women and land. You can understand why they were upset but there are those over extremist that went over the top. To cause violence and want to kill the Preor was not right. I didn’t understand how Liv could do it but then after she explained you knew. These two are at odds for a bit but then Radoo also starts to understand. More needs to be address till all of humanity can expect. And you have to give it to Liv. She was a strong woman and was a fighter. And Radoo was born to lead.

I really enjoyed this story. I liked the characters and the way that they built their relationship. They are from opposite sides and had a lot of learning to do about where the other is coming from. Livvy does not want to hurt people but she doesn’t trust the Preor aliens and thought that she had found the right people in the Resistance. She trusted them and shared her military knowledge and then finds out they have betrayed her. She knows that not everyone in the Resistance is like that and she wants to help the others that don’t want violent attacks. I liked that Radoo and Livvy are the bridge between the two perspectives. As they come to understandings between them as they interact and communicate things start hitting home for both of them on where the other side is coming from and how they view things. They then have to figure out what to do about that and how to get others to see a different perspective. There was plenty of action and intrigue in this story to hold your attention from beginning to end. I liked the way that things flowed and developed. This is the 13th book in the series but it can be read as a stand-alone, though if you have read prior books you will have a more immediate understanding on what is going on with the two different sides and why things are so off. You also get to see characters from the previous books which is a nice bonus. I am excited to see where the next book will take us in this series.

I have been a fan of Celia Kyle's for years. I truly enjoyed the first books within this series, always very fun to read, really looked forward to the fast, action packed storylines with the independent, snarky females, bringing the Alpha males up short when they get out of hand, and then throw in some smexy times to round it off. But the last couple of books within this series have definitely veered towards the more dark and depressing side of human kind. While the books ends with the HEA, the happy times seem to only come at the very end, leaving the reader a bit let down and melancholy, at least in my case.
Do I read sad, dark, anxiety ridden books? Yes, but I have certain authors I read when I feel like reading certain genre's. Unfortunately, I never expected this type of work from this author. Her past work has always been so upbeat, fun and funny. Not sure If I like this new direction, to tell the truth.

WORST BOOK of the series so far. I hate giving a negative review, but I loved this series, It was my favourite related to dragon shifters. I don't know where the authors are taking it, but they should be finishing it in the next book. I despised the Too stupid to live heroine, if you hate the Preor so much, when you became "unwillingly" a bride, you commit suicide, period. I'm sorry for Radoo, he looks like a nice Preor with an awful human mate. And the Resistance... I would have oblitarated them all in no time. Who the hell thay think they are? Humans wrecked the planet beyond restoration and when not one but TWO alien races come to save it and them, not enslaving the stupid race but instead helping erradicate sickness and poverty, asking for permission to select mates, the idiots start "Whuuuhoohoo, they limit my freedom, they steal women so I'm going terrorist on their asses". Tipically human behaviour that explains why real aliens are not contacting us. I believe ARGAN was the last good book, the last four are a disappointment and this is the worst.

From enemies to mates

The Preor are now on a new trajectory with the resistance because of the two main characters in this book.
Livvy is part of the resistance but something terrible happens. As this is happening, the "Knowing" starts to happen too. She never wanted to be a Preor mate and fights it.
Radoo has taken over for Taulen on the ship. He had too many duties to take care of including attending a fair and gala tonhelp bring the Preor and humans closer together. In the midst of this fair he gallantly saves women and children from a tragic ending at the same time he senses his mate. He realizes from her reaction that he must take things slow. But still everything doesn't go as planned as enemies go after anyone possible to further their agenda.
I must have missed the previous book and will most definitely go back and read it because I absolutely love the Preor series!!!
If you love either dragon or alien type books i recommend you give this series a try.

I really enjoyed Livvy. She was upfront strong, independent, and had opinions that wouldn’t be swayed easily. Radoo was so not expecting to find Livvy. They had a great skill set together once they managed to get together and stay together. I felt like there was a piece of the story that maybe was lurking in the background or maybe it’s the way I read into. I felt that Livvy had intentionally be selected to be wooed into the resistance. By the time she started to think ill of the others, it was too late and that perhaps she was a lot naïve in what to expect from a resistance. A great change did come about because of Livvy’s time in the resistance. The Preor started to understand “choice” and they with the human government did implement change. I liked that there were threads left open to continue the stories with other humans and Preor. There was a lot to pack into this easy to read story other than just the juice part where Radoo & Livvy formed their bond.

Well..

Good independent character development but very little between the two main characters. I realize that the individual development was probably meant to show how they could be together but there was very little togetherness in the book. The whole read felt like a novella meant to be between two larger books. I did really like where the author was going with the world development but it seemed weird that the aliens in the ocean never came into play. It’s as if they aren’t even part of the world anymore. It kind of left a gap in the overall story to me. I have been weirdly liking that authors lately have been writing characters that are sort of unlikeable until you get to know them but I just never really got a chance to get attached to either character in this book.

Resistance is Futile😂

This is one of the most important stories that has been wrote on the Preor Aliens. It shows how the resistance is becoming a more sought after commodity and why certain people feel its the only way to go. Livvy and Radoo belong together but Livvys thoughts and action endanger not only the preor dragons but the humans as well. When Livvy realizes that the human resistance leaders go all the way to the top she steps up her game to figure out what each race needs to do to live together. Radoo realizes thru Livvy that they may have caused more damage than help. The two working together maybe the only way for the combined race to go on. a must read for Preor Dragon fans

AWOL soldier joins resistance fighters and then meets her Preor mate ...

Written for mature readers only (18+ years old) due to subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, adult intimate scene and violence such as kidnapping, torture, attempted rape, fighting with some to the death, etc.

The story universe is very well developed with multiple reoccurring characters and consecutive timelines, so this really needs to be read in series order.

This was not my favorite story of the series, but the storyline has loads of potential. I hope that there are more stories to come in the series as this story had an abrupt ending and was more of a HFN vs HEA.

Radoo is facing the same battle as his predecessors.
The mated male before him him had utterly and completely abandoned his post and the ship is in chaos.
Radoo sets forth a plan to keep things running smoothly and get a system in place due to incapacitation of mating.
Why did no one else think of this?
But even in his resentment and annoyance Radoo is holding out hope of finding his own mate.
His own happy ever after.
The mate he finds is far from expectation.
She's apart of a group bound and determined to hate the Preor and everything they stand for.
This is only the start of this battle.

Dragon shifter Radoo is feeling the pressure of so many other Preor warriors finding their mates.  Once they find a mate nothing else matters,  thst includes running the ship and dealing with the people on earth.

Livvy is a soldier who has gone awol and joined the resistance.  The idea of these Alien dragons coming to Earth and brain washing women to be their mates just can't be right.

This is part of a Sci-Fi romance series.  It's probably best if you have read some of the series before to understand the back story but they don't have to be reax in any particular order.

Good very sexy fun.
