Voxeran Fated Mates #4

Her Alien Warrior

Rate this book
He’s a silent, mysterious, gorgeous warrior. And he’s my only hope.
In the span of a few months, I’ve been kidnapped, rescued, then kidnapped again.

I was finally getting used to life on this prison planet… until a band of raiders attacked the Voxeran village and stole me away. When one of the Voxeran warriors tried to save me, he was captured too.

Now it’s just the two of us joined together against terrible odds.

As terrifying as it is to be held captive by vicious alien raiders, I’m grateful Kzuri is by my side. Although he’s barely ever said a word to me, he’s risked his life to protect me more than once. He may not be human, but he’s the bravest man I’ve ever met, and something about the way he looks at me makes my heart race.

I can’t deny that I have feelings for him—but is it more than that? Could it be the mate bond?

Will we even live long enough to find out?

I love reading romance, baking (well... eating) cookies, and binge-watching sci fi shows with my husband. I'm a sucker for a dirty talking alpha with a heart of gold, and I write stories about fierce aliens and the strong Earth women they fall in love with.

Absolutely loved this! Kzuri totally stole my heart. Badass warrior who never speaks because he's self-conscious about his stutter? OMG. I melteddddd.

And Gemma was so perfect for him. I loved her patience and understanding and how she acknowledged the mate bond before he could.
And when they got together it was 🔥🔥🔥!

And holy shitttttt, the story was so tense and exciting, and the love scenes were STEAMY AF! Omg there are some HOT surprises in this book. 🤤

Love love loved it!

Overview: Another cracky good SFR series, it seems to contain the Presley Hall formula - huge, protective heroes who love wearing loincloths and nothing else. The Voxerans were banished to a prison planet called Nuthora and have lived there for 5 years when they see a spaceship crash and, thinking that they can salvage the ship for parts, head towards one of the crash sites. Unbeknownst to them, two human women have just found out that their world leaders basically sold them off to alien warlords as sex slaves in return for alien tech. Fantastic. When the ship they're on accidentally crashes on Nuthora, they also found out that there's a whole bunch of other women on the ship with them. The fight for survival begins, but along the way, you guessed it, we got some fated mate situations happening.

All in all, I like this series alot more than the previous series I'd read by Ms. Hall, the Kalixian Warriors. The premise of being able to reject the mate bond is still in effect, but I think the storytelling here is better and there's much more character development on the way to that HEA. There's also a cohesive overarching storyline that snaps into place and keeps the reader turning that page to find out if they succeed in their plans. I liked alot more fo the books here. If you're into SFR where the romance is central, then I'd recommend this. Now onto the individual books:

Book 1: Her Alien Prince (Charlotte and Droth) - solid start to the series, romance was right blend of insta and built up love. May have issues for those who would struggle with married heroine. Husband basically helped her get on this flight/no love, and there's no way she's going back, so I'm counting that as his fault, it didn't bother me. 4 stars
Book 2: Her Alien Savior (Sadie and Jaro) - I liked the couple, no external complications, all character driven. Deals with anxiety issues and survivalist action. 4 stars.
Book 3: Her Alien Beast (Elizabeth and Axen) - tender, protective hero with pregnant heroine. Probably messiest of the books with a prickly heroine but I still enjoyed it. 4 stars
Book 4: Her Alien Warrior (Gemma and Kzuri) - MCs captured and sold into slavery, so a little darker but my main complaint is it slowed down in the middle but made up for it by the end. 3.5 stars

**3.5/5 stars**

The story picks up the night of the raid, when Gemma and Kzuri were kidnapped from the settlement while everybody were fighting. Kzuri is unconscious after trying to save Gemma and being outnumbered. While the raiders transport them to an unknown location, both Gemma and Kzuri feel the pull of the bond that unites them as fated mates but they don't mention it. When they arrive to the mountain, they are sold to become workers in the mines. But they don't intend to stay there forever...

The reason why Gemma doesn't mention the bond is because she can only guess at it. And when she had that realization that she might be feeling the pull, Kzuri remains quiet. I really liked Gemma. Sincerely, when she was a secondary character in the previous books, she didn't seem like a heroine I would like but I was very wrong. I really liked her kindness and sweetness but also how femininely strong she could be. She was very patient and understanding. Definitely my favorite heroine so far.

It’s… difficult, sometimes, for me to talk. That is why I don’t talk much. My brain forms the words, I try to say them, and they come out stuttering and slow and just altogether wrong most of the time. I can usually manage two or three before my tongue tangles them up. It’s been this way since I was a child.-Kzuri

As for Kzuri, he's always been the quiet and mysterious one among the Voxerans. And the reason why he didn't mention the bond when he felt it was because the words wouldn't come out. He's had a speech impediment for the longest time, and words get stuck in his throat, twist on his tongue and come out with a stutter or not at all. Feeling self-conscious about it, he got used to never really talking...But since he has a mate now, he wants to be able to talk to her but struggled and felt ashamed whenever he tried but failed. In a way, it was really endearing. He was very protective of Gemma and was always ready to save her whenever he believed she was in trouble. In the other books, Kzuri seemed like a silent fighter, but knowing the reason why he was quiet made me love him instantly as a main character. I have a thing for heroes with a speech impediment and how they learn to overcome it.

“You need to stop shutting down like that,” she says gently. “I don’t care about your stutter, Kzuri. It just makes every word you manage more precious to me.”-Gemma

I really liked their relationship and how it developed, it seemed very organic. I think Gemma was perfect for Kzuri. He needed a patient and understanding mate who wouldn't judge him, and she was exactly that. Most of their moments were so sweet and I really like this lovely couple.

Now the one thing that bothered me: It seems like the author got a bit confused in her timeline because on several occasions, the main characters mentioned the couples that were mated so far (Charlotte&Droth, Sadie&Jaro and Elizabeth&Axen) but the problem is, how did they know that Elizabeth and Axen were mated if they'd been kidnapped before it happened? They only realized they were fated mates the night after the raid, not before...And it would take weeks for them to get back to the settlement. I just had to mention it...

I believe this series has a main plot that will chronologically develop with each installment, so you probably want to read them all in order.

Gemma and Kzuri have a love story that will test time. Gemma and Kzuri are captured by Churbac’s band of thugs and are to be sold. Kzuri has a head injury but does his best to protect Gemma. He stutters so he does not feel worthy of Gemma. He is afraid that she will think he is stupid. They are sold to the local warlord as labor for his mines. Gemma gets Kzuri to talk to her. She tells him stuttering is a common problem on Earth and tells him of a cure for it. Gemma and Kzuri do eventually get back to their settlement by way of a slave uprising. Seriously read this book, you will not be disappointed!

I thoroughly enjoyed this one. I loved Gemma & Kzuri, especially because Kzuri had a secret vulnerability that he was so self-conscious of. It was so sweet to see them together & how Gemma was so accepting, which helped Kzuri accept himself. Gah, adorable.

“Please be okay, Kzuri. Please”

Soooo happy this picks up where Book 3 left off with Kzuri and Gemma being taken captive.
This book really kept me tense the whole novel. I wasn’t hopeful that these two would ever make it back to their village and friends. Gemma was a sweet and shy girl but she found the strength to be a warrior in her own right and even protecting Kzuri. Kzuri has always been a quite but great warrior, he’s been hiding a secret his whole life. Gemma gives him the strength to heal those old wounds and find confidence in himself. This was a great journey, very much different from the other couples stories. I’m excited and scared for Book 5 all at the same time . 🤣

I have liked all of Presley Hall's books but this is my new favorite. The dynamic and challenges that Kzuri and Gemma have to over come are big and not just due to being kidnapped out of the village. I honestly thought this would be a standard escape and lost in the woods story, similar to Her Alien Savior but, I was very wrong. I was delightfully pleased with the turn the story took and how it broadened the world of Nuthora beyond just a jungle. The story took many unexpected turns and was very steamy, which I liked. I found the book hard to put down and I rooted for Gemma and Kzuri the whole time. I thought this installment was a great add to move the Voxeran storyline to return to Vox along. It was natural but not predictable. I can't wait for Raina's book in April.

He is taken while trying to recure her. Loved this fourth book for the Presley Hall Voxeran Fated Mates. While overcoming his own difficulties with her help he protects her with his life and works to find a way back to their home. Great book with a surprise at the end. I give this book 5 stars and can not wait to read the next book in this series.

I loved this story. Kzuri and Gemma are abducted from their village and sold as slaves. Kzuri vows to protect Gemma no matter what. She is his mate but he doesn't think with his impediment that he is good enough for her. Sweet steamy story.

Kzuri and Gemma are kidnapped during an attack on their village. Taken to a mountain fortress and forced to work in the mine, they must work together to escape. I have enjoyed all of Presley Hall's books. They have the right amount of suspense and romance to keep you turning the pages.

My Mate?!

This is a good alien/human romance. It tells the tale of how two broken beings can find love no matter what. The story is full of ugly bug guys, stinky pig dudes, abduction, flying motorcycles and an HEA for Kzuri and Gemma. I would recommend this book.

I truly enjoyed Her Alien Warrior, the latest installment of Presley Hall’s Voxeran Fated Mates series. The world building was excellent, as always, the characters well-developed, and the chemistry sizzling. Kzuri and Gemma both evolve as characters through the book and the secondary characters are three-dimensional as well. Definitely a keeper!

Gemma and Kzuri may just be my new favorite couple! Kzuri is definitely the strong, silent type and it worked. Gemma was not only a strong character but she has a heart of gold and a protective streak. This book had a slow build for the romance part. I wish this book was longer!

What an amazing continuation to this awesome series!! Presley does a fantastic job of showing there is love regardless of a person’s insecurities, that your other half will always accept your faults while enjoying your great qualities. The support displayed from both of these characters was amazingly portrayed, and as always, the intimate scenes were passionately written!

Presley gave an in-depth character analysis for both, slowly touching on details of their past that has formed them into who they have become in this story. She does an amazing job detailing how insecurities can affect your personality and diminish your feelings of self-worth. I particularly enjoyed how she incorporated disability into this story while also showing that even with having a disability, that there is always someone for everyone! Cannot wait for the next installment of the Voxeran Fated Mates!

We find out what happened to Gemma & Kzuri who were taken during the raid in Axen and Elizabeth’s story,
Gemma wonders why it’s always Kzuri who is saving her life, he did it again when the camp came under attack now they are prisoners and he is wounded.
I love how this story evolved their relationship doesn’t feel like a whirlwind more like a slow hot and hard burn. Loved it and can’t wait for the next mate bond.

Female lead too meek for me

The female lead in this was a screaming whining lump. Everything was about how he couldn't leave her, because she needed him to protect her. At every incident it was all about what HE could do for HER, and she didn't try to help him or herself. Instead of looking for a rock or a stick to hit his attackers or the other combatants and try to help him, she continually just sat back and watched him get beaten over and over and over again. I was completely done with her by page 80, which was sad because it was Kzuri's story that I was most anxious to read This was such a disappointment because this broad was so meek and pathetic it made me shake my head and nearly quit reading from frustration. I was relieved when Gemma finally spoke up instead of putting everything on Kzuri to do and finally did SOMETHING to help him even if it wasn't action/fighting based. That bit of effort kept me from hating Gemma, but I never loved the character. I skimmed and made it through, but didn't ever sink into this the way I did the first couple of the series.

This is what I was talking about. Why I fell in love with this series and a new fan of this author. For a while there in Book 3, she lost me.

I've realized I also love this kind of heroines. Truly feminine, maybe not so capable to be kick ass but in their own ways, they're strong and brave in mind and in spirit. They're warriors themselves.

I loved this couple. I was a bit engaged again all throughout the book, well not as engaged as Book 2. Got a bit dragging and repetitive in some parts. A bit of issues too, like they mentioned the couple in book 3 as mates, when they weren't supposed to know that part yet. Also, for me it was a little too convenient for them to be allowed to be together in a tent, not being separated, after being sold as slaves to a monstrous beast. No comeuppance to the raiders who kidnapped them, especially the pig-like creature, who harassed both of them while in captivity. 'Hope they appear in the next books and get what they deserved. Another thing, I've realized in my case, when you've already read three books of the same series in succession, descriptive frequent intimacy between couples, despite the intensity and passion which I liked about the author's style, was becoming repetitive and a chore to read.

Although this is fiction, I couldn't help but wonder, how they smelled, with all the sweat, grime and dirt they had after work, while they were doing their intimacy thing 😛. All they had access to as part of their bathing routine, if you could call it that, was a brief water spraying during the mornings before work. No mention of cleaning their mouths, etc. All they did even after waking up in the mornings, was be intimate with deep kissing. Foul breaths and all that 😛. Oh well I'm just being petty and nitpicky, pardon me lol. Fiction remember. On an alien planet😄.

Nevertheless I enjoyed this one. I saw a pattern. Not sure though. Book 1, having a strong, brave and determined heroine, but wishy washy in accepting the mating bond. Book 2, which I enjoyed a lot, with a broken, soft, beautiful heroine, but strong and brave too in mind, determined to be healed and so accepting of her mate. Book 3 which bored me a bit, a heroine who was again capable, smart, matter of fact and brave, but wishy washy too, even rejecting her mate at first. Then this one, Book 4. Another truly feminine, youthful, sweet, soft, reticent, and shy heroine, but having this incredible inner strength. So patient, kind, understanding, and mostly supportive and determined to protect and help her alien hero. A mate who she needed to help, for him to believe in himself and overcome his issues. For him to win a battle within himself and in their undertaking to escape from captivity. A truly brave one I should say, in her own right. So accepting of her mate, despite his insecurities and imperfections. This was even before her alien mate claimed her. I so appreciated this girl. Now Book 5, which I'm not decided yet if I'd read. A kick ass, independent heroine who was cynical of the mating bond. From the start, she annoyed me a great deal. Well maybe if I decided to read her story, a big if that is, I might be able to understand why she was, what she was.

I also favor my heroines to be strong, brave, independent and capable, a bit feisty if heroes are jerks. However, to be also accepting, that their men would want to care for and protect them. From my perspective, not all things men can do, women can do, well maybe we can, but not without repercussions, difficulties and consequences. There'd be always some limitations.Vice versa of course. Don't hate on me dear women who believe otherwise😛. This is just me. My preference and belief as a woman.

As for the hero, well what can I say? I adore each and every hero I've read from this series. They were one of my foremost reasons, along with their creator who wrote them, in continuing this series. Well of course I liked the plotlines too. I have a fondness for this hero the most.Tough, brave, a warrior like his Voxeran brothers, but vulnerable inside.Yet for his heroine, through her love and support, he was able to overcome the most difficult challenge of his alien life, fighting for himself, wanting to be better.

So this book of the Voxeran series, is now a fave too. Well not as much as Book 2 though, but this one connected to me the most. Pulled at my heartstrings more. I wasn't just reading to be entertained this time, but I found myself connecting with the characters, trying to understand their story, the inner workings of their psyche. I almost forgot that I was reading a Sci -fi. During the fight scenes and the aftermath, 'though fictional characters, I've felt along with them, what they were supposed to be feeling during those moments. A sense of fear, triumph and pride. I've felt this couple's deep connection and love for each other. How Kzuri, the hero, was able to come out triumphant and defeat his battles, alongside his mate, especially his battle within himself. That's how effective I deem an author could be, with his/her readers. If a writer succeeds in enabling his/her audience to connect, and ride along with the stories and empathize with the characters, then for me an author is a good author.

This story and Book 2, are similar in some ways. Having all the ingredients in them, which make for some wonderful reads. Good world building, beautiful slow burn mating, a great couple, inner demons and issues to overcome, a passionate and intense love story, gripping action scenes, yet also having an engaging and enjoyable plotline.

My favorite couple so far. Of all these four books of this Sci-fi series I've read, this is the book with the most heart❤.

One last thing, I couldn't not mention or nitpick 😛. That hover bike was too convenient to be there wasn't it? Simply parked there waiting for them. 😛 'Twas a good thing the prisoners who left the slave fortress first after the revolt, didn't take or loot it. There was no way they could go back home, well unless they opted for an impossible, long, arduous and dangerous journey through trekking, for another several weeks. A highly unlikely recourse. A super speedy travel using the bike, yet it still took them several days to reach the Voxeran camp. Fiction yes😛.

I guess I'd take a break from here. I'm not sure I'd read Book 5 in the future, since I don't like the heroine there. Well I understand authors actually. We don't have to like the characters they create. Like people in real life, characters fiction or not, have different personalities, behaviours, perspectives, principles, beliefs and convictions that make them tick. Also, for the books to be consistently interesting and varied.

Whew! What a long review. Well this serves as my temporary farewell to a series I've come to love and enjoy. For a Sci-fi novel that is. I'm not known to be a lover of anything science😁.

I'm still loving this series and author though. I'm still planning one day to move forward and finish the whole series, for a satisfying culmination of a main plot or storyline whatever. None other than the long awaited return of these fierce warriors, these banished Voxerans, along with their precious mates and Terran females, to VOX.. a planet that was their own and rightfully theirs.

A quiet man!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙💚💜🖤
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📔
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎🌏
Character development: 😠🙃😍😘🥰
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Gemma - She was a former pageant girl, stolen from Earth by her own government to be traded for alien tech, and ended up on an alien prison planet. Though she was rescued by a race called the Voxeran warriors and brought the women to their village on the planet. But just as she was getting used to life on the settlement, she was taken captive by raiders along with the Voxeran called Kzuri.

The Hero: Kzuri - When the raiders attacked, he rushed to Gemma’s defense and ended up being taking captive along with her to be sold in an auction. He is a fierce warrior, but mysterious and quiet. He finds it difficult to talk, ever since he was a child, that is why he doesn’t talk much, he has a bit of a stutter when he says more than a few words. He wakes after being knocked out and taken captive, having been beaten and he sees that Gemma was taken captive with him and he swears he will protect her.

The Story: Gemma feels that Kzuri is her only lifeline after the pig-faced raiders take them hostage on hover bikes. While Kzuri is determined to save them both. Though he is wounded and must play along with the captors. They travel by bike for days. When one of the pig men starts to attack Gemma, Kzuri attacks and saves her, but they don’t get away.

It isn’t long before Kzuri feels the mate bond with Gemma. I really liked Kzuri, and I think that his stutter is so cute. I like that he is a quiet guy. Their journey is a bit different than any I have read before in alien romance and it is certainly a difference from the first books in this series. I liked the story quite a bit and the world building and character development were both on point.

The book is told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Karla Serrato and C.J. Grey. C.J. has a deep voice and talks at a great cadence for an alien romance, especially for one like Kzuri who doesn’t talk much. Karla has a soft yet feminine sounding voice which is also pleasant.

LOVED this couple!!

This book is Kzuri and Gemma’s love story, and what a story it is. Kzuri is the strong, silent type. A man of few words, because he doesn’t want to talk. He has a stutter and he doesn’t want to appear weak. Gemma is also quiet among the Terran women. She’s a beauty pageant survivor with one hell of a stage mom. After she is abducted by Churbac’s men, Kzuri goes after them in an attempt to save her, but ends up captured himself. The story is about their survival, trying to find their way back to their village and finding each other.

I cannot tell you how much I loved this book! Gemma is stronger than she thinks. While I love strong female characters, many times authors cross that line from strength into bitchiness. Not here. Gemma is the perfect blend of intelligence, strength, beauty and kindness. She recognizes fairly quickly that the reason Kzuri doesn’t speak much is due to a stutter. She helps him find his confidence. They realize that they are mates, but since Kzuri is too ashamed to speak, she’s not sure if this is a true mate bond, or just her crushing on the hot alien. She longs for it to be the bond, but is waiting for Kzuri to say something about it. Does he feel the same pull towards her that she feels towards him?

Kzuri is so sweet, i loved his inner dialog. And he wanted so badly to say so many things to his mate, but couldn’t get the words out. This is my favorite couple so far. It was refreshing to read a story where the female was not stupidly fighting the bond. Gemma wanted it! And I was so happy when they finally admitted their feelings for each other. It was such a quiet blooming of emotions.

I definitely recommend this book, and the entire series to any fans of SciFi romance.

On this installment, the subplot didn't move forward. However, the world-building was explored further.

From previous books, we already knew that the planet they live at it's really a prison and, although where our characters are located it's relatively safe, the reality of the planet as a whole it's completely different.

I liked both of our MCs in this book. Give me a male character dealing with some inner demons while simping for our main female character, and I'll love him any hour of the day.

The relationship between Gemma and Kzuri was both sweet and steamy. It got a little repetitive at times with so many sex escenes between the second and fourth book (I dnfed the third one due to personal preferences). However, the relationship between them was just wholesome and full of acceptance.

I'm a sucker for character growth, and we did get it, mostly through in Kzuri. Nevertheless, I still liked Gemma, especially how resilient and adaptable she was.

I maybe wanted to see Gemma's sense of not belonging being explored a little further, but that's just me.

Another thing that bothered me was how both Gemma and Kzuri talked about the mated couples from the previous books. They even included Axen and Elizabeth, which in retrospective doesn't make any sense because they weren't there to witness that relationship blossom. Axen and Elizabeth bonded AFTER Gemma and Kzuri were kidnapped. There was no way they could know about them being mates.

Onto the next one!

Oh, i'm loving this series so much. There is no couple that I don't love the most as of yet..LOL Anyways, Gemma and Kzuri have been abducted by other prison clan members. To be sold off, who knows. There is never a dull moment on this planet and I've been waiting to see when they have the opportunity to leave that planet and take back what's rightfully theirs. Anyways, I diagress, Kzuri doesn't say much, but he is always watchful. In this book, we see why Kruzi is an alien who says so little. He is hiding his shame and doesn't want his clan or Gemma to find out about it. But, his plans of keeping it a secret have been dashed. Gemma then finds out about his secret and sees how ashamed he feels about it. Gemma wants to help him, telling him there is nothing to be ashamed for having this. While Kzuri's secret has been uncovered, they are taken to mountain clan to be sold as slaves or killed off. But, luckily Kzuri and Gemma have been solded to work in the mine as day laborer's for gems. Will they be able to find a way back to their village to their friends/ family. You'll have to read this to find out.

Side note...I hope we meet these other bad gang members and they get their due justice by the Voxeran's or other wild animal plants or species.

4 1/2 stars

Written for mature readers only (18+ years old) due to subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, steamy intimate scenes and violence such as abduction, fighting some to the death, attempted rape, etc.

This is the 4th story in the Voxeran Fated Mates series. While it could probably be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend it be read in series order for maximum reader satisfaction and to prevent spoilers as there are reoccurring characters and an overall storyline arc. Plus Gemma and Kzuri’s story begins as the previous story ends.

There are a few grammatical errors, but nothing too egregious. I probably would have been more inclined to rate this story higher if more of a description had been provided of the two main characters. It had been a while since I had read the previous stories, so it took it a while for me to imagine what the two of them looked like.

Otherwise, it does a good job of providing the thoughts and emotions of the two characters as they experienced the terror of being abducted from the Voxeran village, being hauled to their next location draped on the back of the hover bikes and the emotional roller coaster that began from that act.

Gemma and the other human females in the series were snatched up by their own government, put to sleep in a cryogenic pod, and sent out into space. They were meant to be traded in exchange for alien tech, but their ship crashed on an isolated planet before they could reach their destination.
Kzuri is having the worse day ever. He and Gemma were taken from the village during the raid in book 2.
I read a lot of books. Some I like, some I love. When I read a series I normally write the review before I start the next book in the series. But when I come upon a series that I can't for whatever reason put down I read (and forget) to the end of the series. This is one of those series. The aliens, to the planet, to everything in between just pulled me in and would not let me go, so now I'm playing back up. Wish Aug 27 would get here.
Each book is about a new couple and can be read in any order but I recommend reading the series in order it's better that way.

I am enjoying this series !!!

This book was a little bit scary, and a lot of wonderful !!
Gemma and Kzuri are thrown together during a sneak attack on their village .
Kzuri and his band of brothers have built a home on this godsforsaken planet full of criminals . After they were not successful in restoring Drox to his rightful place , all involved were sent to the prision planet . Not criminals , but the new king did not want them on Vox. So the males did the best they could with what they could find or barter . Once the human women were discovered , some of his brothers have paired up with the beautiful females. But he knows that will not be his future.

Gemma is just trying to come to terms with the fact that there Is Alien life. She Never thought that she would ever find herself on a distant planet , with sexy aliens.
Now both of them must depend on each other as they are taken further and further away from what they know.
In this book, there was a lot more of Nuthor scenery revealed , and many more aliens too. I am enjoying this series very much !!
