Emotional read plus it inspires me to introspect myself.
Plotline is unique and remarkable. If a story has a crucial message and the plotline is neatly written it emerges as the best story. The Cinderella of karnal, I thought it would be some sort of love story by naming it Cinderella. However, the twist got me and this short read became hard to read it one go. Because of emotional distress, I was in while reading the twist.
I have read her previous book, "She-screw silence" which was poetry, because of her rebellious style I loved that poems.
All the characters Diya, Ved, Kanika and cute Vidya were enacted well. Narrative was quite fast-paced which will keep you hooked. But if this story would have written well descriptive it would have been decent. Sometimes it is hard to maintain pace with Author.
Altogether, must-read book and it will motivate you to study and introspect your life.

The cover page is really alluring. Special appreciation for the title of the book , which is really eye catcher and captivating . It was the title which aroused my curiosity at once and instilled in me a strong desire to pick up this book and read.
After I picked up the book, I found it irresistible to keep the book down unless and until I finished reading it. The book is complete page turner. The writing style is flowy and lucid but very captivating at the same time. I would like to give special appreciation to the writing style as various figures of speech are beautifully used. The dialogues are well crafted . Characters are beautifully sketched out. Narrations are vivid . As I was reading the story, I could feel everything happening right infront of my eyes . I look forward to read more from the author. At one of the places in book , Diya, the protagonist, gives a speech in a school campus in Karnal. The speech was so well carfted that it moved me so much so that tears rolled down my eyes. To be true, there are some evils on the society which many people face but rarely some one speaks about. Author has shown a bold upfront by giving words to those unhealed , unspoken , unheard wounds of many people. I appreciate the audacity of author to write such a beautiful book by blending fiction, non-fiction and words of wisdom on awareness of mental illness and child sexual abuse. Such books are phenomenal. They require great strength and courage not only on the part of author to write such a book, but on part of reader to read such an emotional roller coaster. I suggest do keep tissues handy. This book is showing a mirror to this grey world. If you have the audacity and courage to see the true grey colors of the world and how it impacts innocent people, this book is for you. Read it !
One more thing , not only the book is written from the perspective of female character but author has so beautifully weaved in the story the issues a female faces . I could relate to so many things a women. It is also beneficial for men to read such books as they will develop an understanding and empathy for females around them.
Cinderella of Karnal is a story about a girl named Diya who is from Karnal, fighting against various social norms to stand for herself against all the odds. She has lost her father even before her birth and has been blamed to be inauspicious for the same reason. Later just like other girls in society she has been forced to marry a guy who isn't that educated but earns alot.
The book is very interesting read about how she finally listens to her heart and stands for herself. But as they say the past always disturbs the present. I thoroughly enjoyed this revolutionary journey of Diya. There is pain, happiness, family relationships, Friendship, womanhood and many more emotions narrated throughput the book. What I liked- ~ Firstly hands down to such beautiful and artistic cover and well suitable title. ~ It's a fast paced, engaging and a very thrilling story. ~ Personally I like when along with stories there are some lines that hit you and well as a worth quoting them. ~ A thrilling story accompanied by a strong social message, the purpose through this book was well served. I'll recommend this book to everyone who like thrilling and relatable story.
Reading Cinderella of Karnal was a mind - blowing experience as the story is full of twists and turns. It kept me hooked and I kept turning pages in excitement.
From the title, I expected it to be a revenge story but it was so much more than that. The first half of the book was kind of dull but since the first twist that came in the story the experience turned a 360° making it exciting and engaging.
It is the story of Diya, who runs away from her home in Karnal in order to pursue Masters in order to become a psychiatrist. This new phase of her life brings love in form of Ved and she soon starts a family with him but a trip to her hometown changes everything. With Ved dead, what is left for Diya now?
There are so many layers in the story, the character of Diya is very well written, her being Schizophrenic was definitely a master stroke ( I hope this doesn't count as spoiler) but it wasn't all and there were so many new revelations. The end was cherry on top.
Exciting story, unpredictable plot and easy language makes this book a good read.
Painful truth and obviously the best thriller I have ever read
This is literally the best thriller I have ever read. Be it psychology book too. Best. Best. Best. It was even better than The Silent Patient in some senses. It stated social issues like rape, Acid attack and people going from mental disorders.
In India people say "oh no, she/he isn't mentally ill, they are possessed" Um, WOW. 🤦♀️
Well, talking about the story, Diya was such an inspiration. She was a pillar for women empowerment. And mental health at the same time. She showed courage running from her home and she was strong throughout the book. Hats off to this woman. If there were Diyas all over India, no one can ever take advantage of women. I cried in pain when ever was going on with Diya. Her poem made me see the truth and how ugly this world is. Be it outside or inside the family. We are always told to say protected when we go outside but who will say us to stay us protected from our family too?
The Cinderella of Karnal by Reecha Agarwal Goyal is a story that celebrates freedom and womanhood. The story is revolving around Diya, a strong-willed, free-spirited women who is continuously dragged to the battles where she is left with no option other than fight for her freedom. Diya is considered as 'inauspicious' since birth because her father has died when she was born. She was forced to marry a man who is much elder to her against her consent. Her life took a turn when she finally decided to stand upright on her decisions. She ran away from home to pursue a career in psychology. But it was definitely not the end of problems for her.
The Cinderella of Karnal is an unusual story. The uniqueness is clearly visible from the title and the cover page itself. It is not a story of a damsel in distress. But a strong women who can take decisions and face consequences courageously. The story touches on two important issues of our society, women's freedom and mental health. Both are considered taboos and need some light to shed upon. Literature is a powerful medium to convey these messages to the society. Thus the author had done a tremendous job to blend this social issue in a psychological thriller.
She has effortlessly framed a good thriller story that is fast-paced and without any lag. It has every element of a thriller plus a women lead. The world definitely needs more stories like this.

My Thoughts:
The story is very inspiring and revolves around various issues which are highly prevalent in our society. Social issues such as female infanticide, social injustice, molestation, mental health etc are discussed by the author through this story. The storyline is engaging and the pace of the story is also perfect.
Characters are well developed and relatable. I liked Diya's character a lot life throws many hurdles at her but she never backs out from them instead she is ready to face them with all her will power even during her toughest times.
Language is simple and lucid. The pace of the story is perfect. The book cover is beautiful and relatable. The title of the book is also apt to the plot.
Overall, I would say that mental health is of prime importance and if we are mentally fit we can surely overcome every problem in our life but sadly we still are not ready to address these issues which can lead to many big problems in life.
I really enjoyed reading this book and would surely recommend it to all.
This book talks about the importance of socializing, making friends and also taking a proper care of your mental health. The whole point about writing this book from the writer's perspective throws light on how one incident in a childhood can impact a person's life in a broadway. I loved the whole well knitted story with its plot perfectly placed. I loved the whole concept of this book as the name suggests its a psychologyical thriller, it's painful and shattering to come across such a story.
When it comes to mental health, there's still a lot to be done.
Ratings: 5/5 Diya hails from a small town Karnal in India where she grows up facing the brunt of harsh comments and gender bias. When she is about to be forced into a marriage, she takes matters into her own hands and flees the town to create her own identity. Life finally seems good for Diya, with a husband, a daughter, and a degree in psychology. But things take an ugly unexpected turn, leading to revelations that nobody is prepared for. What does Diya's past have to do with her present? Read this psychological thriller to find out.
What I liked about the book: --> Finally, after months, I read a psychological thriller that was not predictable. --> The analogy of Diya's name, which means a lamp, and how she later actually becomes a literal' lamp' for the people of Karnal through her woke work around women's issues and mental healthcare. --> The character of Kanika as Diya's best friend, proving that when it comes to mental health problems, we need the unwavering and unbiased support of friends (and family) --> The story sends out a very important message when it comes to sexual abuse, which is that when it comes to such issues, it is usually people in the close family or circle who are the perpetrators of such acts. --> It teaches us that the root cause of mental disorders is usually the actions and functioning of the society. --> Diya's decision to return to Karnal despite having faced so much harshness there and the way she tackles the problems and successfully brings about a positive change, especially in the womenfolk. I, especially loved how Diya is someone who has faced a problem, overcome it, and instead of moving on with her life, she decides to help others with similar problems. --> There are subtle hints through Diya's statements and behavior which make it obvious that there's some major issue, but love how, when the issue is revealed, it turns out to be so unexpected, shocking, and heartwrenching. --> How the book ends on a cliffhanger (and also points to the fact that mental illness is a lifelong battle)
What I did not like about the book: --> A little clarity around the accident that led to the big reveal, would have made the story more interesting. --> The minor (barely noticeable three to four) grammatical and typing errors.
(But these are tiny issues I was able to ignore and which did not stop me from rating the book 5/5 because it's just that good!!)
Quotable quotes: —> She loved books. They opened her mind. They widened her imagination. They offered hope. And they were a gateway to her dreams. —> She had come to realise that one has to fight for their rights. —> Everything in this damned world needed a repair. —> Guilt is a very harmful emotion. You can fight sorrow, you can fight anger, you can even fight despair but guilt is a very strong opponent. —> Balance. Moderation. Two words that held the secret to happiness.
Diya hails from an unassuming community Karnal in India where she grows up confronting the brunt of brutal remarks and sexual orientation inclination. At the point when she is going to be constrained into a marriage, she assumes control over issue and escapes the town to make her own character. Life at long last appears to be useful for Diya, with a spouse, a girl, and a degree in brain science. In any case, things take a revolting sudden turn, prompting disclosures that no one is ready for. What does Diya's past have to do with her present? Peruse this thrill ride to discover.
Finally, after months, I read a spine chiller that was not unsurprising.
The similarity of Diya's name, which implies a light, and how she later really turns into an exacting' light' for individuals of Karnal through her woke work around ladies' issues and mental medical services.
The personality of Kanika as Diya's closest companion, demonstrating that with regards to emotional well-being issues, we need the steady and unprejudiced help of companions (and family)
The story conveys a vital message with regards to sexual maltreatment, which is that with regards to such issues, it is typically individuals in the nearby family or circle who are the culprits of such demonstrations.
It instructs us that the main driver of mental problems is typically the activities and working of the general public.
Diya's choice to get back to Karnal regardless of having confronted such a lot of cruelty there and the manner in which she handles the issues and effectively achieves a positive change, particularly in the womenfolk. I, particularly adored how Diya is somebody who has dealt with an issue, defeat it, and as opposed to proceeding onward with her life, she chooses to help other people with comparative issues.
There are unobtrusive clues through Diya's assertions and conduct which make it evident that there's some significant issue, however love the delightful way, when the issue is uncovered, it ends up being so sudden, stunning, and heartwrenching.
How the book closes on a cliffhanger (and furthermore focuses to the way that psychological instability is a long lasting fight)
This is the story of a girl Diya born in kernal without the safety net of her father and she was labelled an inauspicious child from the day she born.
Her mother is seeing groom for her but the problem is he is far older than her and she doesn't want to stuck in that hell so Diya took a step and leaves the home to live far away from her home, away from all negativity and cruelty.
She took admission in a B. A in psychology at a local college and had developed a keen interest in it and college she met her soulmate and they become one but the fate had other plans waiting for her and when it struck it changed her life forever.
She had a past which can torment anyone who has heart but she had never said to anyone about it.
Review and Some thoughts
The book deals about the mental illnesses and the disease related to it and about the society which lives in a world where they think only oppression can make them powerful and people and mostly women's they don't fight against the wrong and when they do people try to make them weak.
If you want to good society for your girl child start making them strong as this world is far evil then you have ever seen and some men show their ego by oppressing them and rules them but from when you start to fight for yourself then you can overcome and kill all the danger which is stopping you to explore.
It is you who can help yourself because nobody will help you when you can't help yourself and when you help yourself you become the person who can be what you want.
The same thing happened to when Diya had to marry the men who is far older than her and she made her self strong and leaves the world which was tormenting her.
When you read the story of the Cinderella of kernal then I guarantee you, your eyes will become wet and you would want to help her and kill off the evil which made her life hell.
I will recommend this book to every reader as it is based on mental health and in our society still, the mental illnesses are being seen like madness. So to change the society must read this book.
Happy reading and keep inspiring others to read, have a good day and night.
Book : The Cinderella of Karnal Author : Reecha Agarwal Goyal Rating : 4/5
-"To everyone who is fighting their own secret battle" -"Guilt is a very harmful emotion, You can fight sorrow, you can fight anger, you can even fight despair but guilt is a very strong opponent.!"
🌺"The Cinderella of Karnal entangled in a web of mysteries, secrets, deceits and life" is the story of Diya. She was from Karnal. Diya lived with her mother, her grandparents and her uncle. Diya was the only child of her parents. She had never seen her father. He had died when she was in her mother's womb, No one really said her explicitly but everyone considered her the reason of her father's death. Diya loved her mother. She had seen her struggle in life. She had seen her cry.🌺
🌺Diya's mom was very clear about one thing in life. She would get Diya married before Diya turned 21. Diya's marriage was what she lived for. Girls in her town are not allowed to study much. Her mother too wanted her to quit college and get married to a guy. So She decides to leave her maternal home and carve her own journey by continuing her studies.. She runs away from her house and gets herself enrolled in a college in Chandigarh for becoming a psychologist. She aims to do something for the society to change the orthodox thinking because she had a tormented and abusive childhood, it somehow impacted her whole life. It was going to be a tough battle. But then again, when had life been easy for Diya???🌺 🌺Author wrote a very interesting and unique story through this book. The cover of the book is a beautiful piece of art where there is the beautiful motion picture like cover which is like a painter's Masterpiece. Writing style is refreshing. Language used in this book is good keeping it simple to make is easily understandable to readers. The author has beautifully built up the characters. Wonderful narration with a great place storyline. The emotional bonding one can want to feel in this story is perfectly maintained. It’s really good book to read.🌺
Cinderella, the old fairy tale princess, who had fought all the odds of the society and emerged as a princess. The Cinderella of Karnal may be a tale which does not have a fairy tale version thereto, but a woman from the Town of Karnal is India has got to fight all the social evil, and here a number of the evil is additionally residing inside her. Diya, A girl who had blamed for the death of her father, even before she was born! She was labelled 'inauspicious' by society. While trying to regain her image Diya finds herself entangled in a web of murders, mysteries, secrets, deceits and life. So that's the book for you This is book is going down in the stack of best reads of the year, I am saying this even at the start of the year! What an Awsome Journey It was reading this awesomely written tale. Writing: A very easy language, but a gripping one for Psychological Thriller. It has the required pace to it, I cannot complain even a single Things about the writing of this story. The Lessons about mental health that flows like constant reminder throughout the book was something worth every single penny! Editing and Presentation: Even editing, proofreading everything was close to perfect in this book. The only thing which was a little botheration for me is there are certain sequences in the middle which would have been presented little better. Having said that, That confused way of presenting has added the flavour of Physiological thrill to the book. Characters: Diya, Ved, Kanika these are the main characters in the book. We as a reader get to know all the characters pretty well. Again if I have to Criticise a bit, then I would say that the Character of Ved must have developed a little more. So perfect writing, close to perfect editing and presentation, good character development, the atrocities females go through, and the constant reminder of the mental health this book has everything to be a 5-star book!! But that small confusion in presenting and that missing development of Ved's Character have cost the book 0.5 points So I would like to rate 4.5/5
The Cinderella of Karnal, written by Reecha Agarwal Goyal, is a fiction with a purpose, that's how I would describe it. .
It's a story of a girl, Diya, who has had enough torture in her house, and decides to run from her own house one day to pursue higher studies in Psychology. . Life has enough surprises planned for her, she experiences, love, friendship and what not. After some joyous moments of her life, she meets with an accident, which turns her life upside down. . It's one of the few books that address mental health issues and problems. With the help of their psychology classes, they have given us an insight into the lives of psychologists. Also, people who treat other people, sometimes need help too, and you would find that out in the latter part of the story. . Society plays an important role in shaping the mental health of an individual, and most of the times it's the society that harms it. We want to change the world, but we don't want to take a step in that direction, Diya, on our behalf, actually does so. She decides to make people aware of mental health and the issues related to it. . The language is pretty simple and what we use in our day to day lives. You would understand it easily. It also addresses the atrocities women face in Indian households, rural or urban. . The scenarios in this book are well elaborated and it becomes easy for the reader to connect to the story. There's so much happening in the book, and the story is moving so fastly, you need to keep up with it. The chapters and short and meaningful. . What I like about the book: Simple language. Raising mental health issues. Concerns of a single parent. What females face in the society. . I would recommend this book to the people who want to read sensitive fiction, about mental health. People who are triggered easily, should avoid it as it contains descriptive incidents of atrocities (rape and assault). . To conclude, I liked reading it. A good book leaves you with a tons of Questions. 🌼
🦋 Trigger warning : Mental Health Issues Discussion, Sexual Abuse, Death.

|| PERSONAL INSIGHT || - 🌸 Although, I Enjoyed Reading the Story, the Book could have Had a Bit more Detailed Explanation about Mental Health and how to Handle such Situations. Overall, The Story is giving An Amazing view of Various Mental Health Issues that People Go Through and Some view on How to Handle. But Still, a Bit more Detailed Explanation would have been Better.
There has been a collective awareness of mental health with societal progress, and our current stack of books certainly seems to have this as a recurrent theme. “Cinderella of Karnal” by Reecha Agarwal Goyal is a thrilling take on the consequences of an unhealthy upbringing and how a girl chooses to shed the stigma associated with her. Contrary to her name, society has pegged Diya as someone dark and inauspicious. Diya has dreams of her own, but her relatives constantly try to bring her down. She has no choice but to flee from her abode. She enrols on a college and becomes a psychologist. She had Ved and their daughter, Vidya. But some unexpected turn of events shatters her life again. Diya spirals downs a dark path, and with the help of her friend Kanika, she resumes her everyday life. She returns to her hometown Karnal where she sets up a clinic and begins to undo the taboo of mental health. It is a seemingly straightforward story from the blurb, but I realized the layers and layers of intricacies that went into the plot when I finished the book. I read the book twice, and I am still unsure of the ending. Was Diya honestly alright at the end? I am pondering the story while writing this review, and I wonder just how much of the story is reliable narration. I must applaud the author to have highlighted a known but obscure (in acceptance) disease. She has managed to capture the essence of a confused and disoriented mind as accurately as possible. To the point that even the readers are left disoriented. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that the book was only 124 pages. I figured a story like this would be a longer book. The author has done commendable work on fitting a thrilling story into a novella. I thoroughly enjoyed the book. The book is meant for mature readers and comes with a lot of trigger warnings. My rating is 5 stars.
Psychology is one of the interesting and important subject whose essence must be known by every single person nowadays. The damage that mental illness can do is far beyond than any other illness yet it is underestimated. One of the root cause of Mental illness is bad childhood, as childhood is the phase where we frame ourselve and the darker the childhood, the mental illness doesn't delays to build the Home. When the monsters are roaming outside, we feel protected in our family but what if our family holds a monster?
"Cindrella of Karnal" is a Psychological thriller that talks about Diya, a girl from Karnal where she was abused since childhood, who was never treated like other children just because she was in womb when her father died. Diya, in order to move ahead in career leaves her hometown and meets Ved in the new city. A guy who gifts her a beautiful life, which doesn't last long.
The story begins when Diya makes a bold decision and half of the story goes very normal narrating the study life and the relationship between Ved and Diya. But just when the grief hits, the book turns out to be the thriller and during sessions when the truth reveals it is darker than any reader can imagine. Story is fast paced and inspiring to read how Diya chooses to be strong all the time. Especially once I was half done with the story, I couldn't put it down. I loved Kanika's nature. Just when the things were fine and I guessed the ending, the Author has gifted a huge twist that left me speechless. The language is easy to understand. The length of this book seems perfect to me. My personal favorite characters are Ved and Kanika. Overall it is a good Psychological thriller that I recommend to everyone.
We often hear about the incidents of domestic violence and cases of physical and mental abuse of women these days. The tragedy is as we become more and more modern we are losing our sanity and respect for each other. We seldom care about those women who have undergone such a disastrous life and how these incidents affect their life mentally.
This story is about Diya, a strong-minded girl who runs away from her family to live the life of her choice and desires to become a psychologist and change the notion of the society about women and to spread awareness among women and help them fight on their own. Having been named inauspicious even before her birth and going through a terrible past had a great effect on her thinking and her life.
She has finally achieved her desired life both personally and professionally but destiny had something else in its platter. The incidents that followed had a huge effect on her mental status and with her past haunting her she has a lot to take in. What caused her to lose mental balance? Will she recover and achieve her goal of changing the orthodox thinking of society?
The story moves very fast and had a gripping tale that keeps the readers hooked to it till the end. The book is a very short read and I finished it one sitting. The focus on mental health is very crucial these days and I'm glad the author had given utmost importance to it. There are incidents in the story where you can actually connect with the protagonist and feel for her. Overall it's a good story and the twists and turns in the story are very interesting to read although I thought the story was rushed at some points.
This is a psychological thriller which reads like script of a well written TV series. I was hooked from the first Chapter and felt it was predictable in the middle. However, I was blown over with the way the story progressed and wondered how the author addressed so many issues without getting a feeling of injustice.
I rarely find books that deal with both psychological imbalances and societal evils to do justice to the concept. Reecha, on the other hand, has managed to explain concepts with the kind of depth that it needed in this book in merely a 120 pages.
You witness a journey unfold through this book that has been told in the most crisp and clear manner. Despite that you feel emotions of each character to its full depth and relate to them.
Character development is where Reecha won my heart. I love books where characters have a back story and it shows how that has gone to shape them in the future. It takes a lot of effort to build stories and show their impact with such clarity that Reecha has managed to achieve.
I am a person who uses a lot of imagery while reading. My only issue has been that I couldn't build the images of half the scenes in my head well enough. That is something I would have preferred.
I believe this book ain't for everybody. There is a lot about psychological imbalances and societal pressure which can be a trigger for a few. Please read at your own desecration.
I personally enjoyed reading this book and would like to explore more books written by Reecha.

Fast paced and gripping piece of work. Story keeps you hooked till the end. Lucid language is used. Author has done a really good and captivating work. At first i thought it is Indian retelling of Cinderella but i was proved wrong on the very first page of the book. Glad i came across this book as it talks about mental health issues and the evil face of our patriarchal society.
I would definitely recommend this book to everyone. ❤️

Divya is cursed as an "inauspicious" since birth. Raised by her orthodox, paternal family and a single mother, she runs away from her home in Karnal to study Psychology. Here she befriends Ved and Kanika who become her lifeline. She finds herself amongst her trusted and supportive friends who become more than her family. But when has life been easy for Divya!
Life takes an upturn where she finds herself in a devastating web of social injustice and abuse, patriarchy, social discrimination. Will she be able to find herself once again? Will she be able to make her mother proud? Will she be able to fullfill her dream to help the people in Karnal with their emotional and psychological issues?
"Cindrella of Karnal" is a fast paced psychological thriller focusing on women centric social issues like female infanticide, molestation, sexual and mental harrasment, injustice towards single mothers and daughters and so much more. The suffering of women, physically and mentally, from an orthodox and dominating society is decribed very well. The story started smoothly but the unexpected twist midway was surprising. The second half of the book is gripping.
This short power-packed inspirational story of a run-way girl and her fight against all odds, is highly recommended to those who like to read woman centric psychological thrillers. This is not a Cinderella retelling, but an new story altogether.

The Cinderella of Karnal: A psychological thriller by Reecha Agarwal Goyal
This was one of those book which upon reading I felt that character is based after me. Diya protagonist was considered inauspicious because her father died when she was in womb and she got blamed for me. My father passed away couple of months after I was born and I got blamed for it as well. Similarly like Diya I was close to my mother, whom also I lost few years back. I guess that's why it hit me so hard and took me this long to write a review on it. Cindrella of karnal is a story of a young girl named Diya, who runs away from her family and native place Karnal, to get away from unwanted marriage and also to make a name for herself but soon her past comes to haunt her. Cindrella is alot different than cindrella from fairy tales she didn't have fairy godmother to solve her problems. Diya had to face everything on her own. I really like how author focused on psyche of cindrella. How issues related to psychology and domestic violence impact women. I really hope this book opens up discussions on those issues. I really hope people see it as a illness not as a attention seeking technique or put away under the garb of superstition. This book is really well written. I liked how Diya's character was developed. I loved how her relationship with her mother is portrayed. I really hope someone shouldn't go through what women in this novel go through and If they do I hope they find courage like Diya.

Do read the book to get to know Diya and a lot of other aspects of mental health
Cindrella Of Karnal is a story of diya who was born into an abusive, strict and orthodox family. Author gives a candid insight into diya's own inner life and how she felt different from her family and community, and longed to experience a different life other than getting married. Disagreeing with the beliefs of traditions and upbringing, the pressure became too much for her to bear. Forced to make a personal decision, diya finds the courage to leave the only life she had ever known. Diya shows great courage as she navigates the obstacles to life in our modern day: she fights loneliness and ignorance and commits herself to earn her own way and to pursue more education. Overall, it is a fascinating read for anyone who wants to get a glimpse into life in these kinds of communities with the power of men, and women's lack of power.
The author does a nice job of analyzing life's major questions, and doesn’t show restraint describing the suffering of a person's mental health. I recommend this lovely novel for people who love a story of struggle, loss, bravery, and love that overcomes all obstacles. If you are looking for a book that is truly engaging and pulls at every emotion you've got, then don't hesitate. The depth of reality and feeling in this book is the essence that makes it believable and real.
It is a short read. Sorry If I give any spoilers. The story narrates about social issues. Diya is the protagonist of the story from the village Karnal who completed B. A. psychology. She is brought up her mother who is a single parent and she wants her doctor to get married as soon as possible. Diya was fighting for every part of her life to get what she wants. The men who they selected for Diya were bald and aged but rich. She had applied for a Master's in psychology in various colleges and she chooses the college in Chandigarh where she got the scholarship. She runs away from home without saying to anyone in the home.
She stays in a lodge in Chandigarh still college opens and joined in Gulmohar College. Diya is a girl with a goal in her life who wants to speak against social norms that are not correct.
Many people never care about mental illness and if they care others make fun of them is something that was happening and happening still in our society. If we ask for a life that we are not physically well we will get a life but if we say we are not mentally well and taking leave we will not be granted leave and people will laugh at us.
This book speaks more on mental health issues I loved reading about the strong girl Diya who loved to make some change in society and had a strong passion for her work.

🍯Almost everyone must have heard the story of Cinderella. The story of Diya replicates the same. Diya is a poor girl and forced to marry at an early age. She is smart and brave to face all her issues on her own. The book is full of suspense and struggles of a normal girl.
🍯Diya was a poor girl, urged to get married to a huge age gap guy. Diya was a bright child and proves herself in the entrance exam, scoring 98% in it. Further, she was studying psychology and wanted to study more. Due to financial crises, Diya was forced by her mom to get married.
🍯Diya’s mom always wanted her to be with a rich guy, but Diya wanted to study. This leads to several repercussions in the future. The book is written by Reecha Agarwal Goyal. A girl can only relate to such issues regarding marriage. The hospitality of Mr. Singh was great for varun, he is a kind hearted gentleman. The book covers all the struggles made by Diya from escaping the marriage. Miss Rajini, I liked her character of being a helping hand to Diya. She provided her shelter at the time Diya needed.
🍯The story is relatable to girls in India, parents want their girl to get married soon. They do this because of love and fear for their young girl leading the girl to let go of many things. The guys who think girls have a chill life, nothing to worry about, need to read this book to know how a girl’s life is?
What an amazing book this was. I was hooked from the very first chapter and the story kept getting better and better till the very end. The story has so much to give to readers, so much to teach.
The book revolves around Diya, a young girl who runs away from her house and gets herself enrolled in a college in Chandigarh in pursuit of her dream of becoming a clinical psychologist. She had a very tormented and abusive childhood and it somehow impacted her whole life. She stills aims to do something for the society and change the orthodox thinking of society. Read to know how she fights all her battles and rises from ashes like a Phoenix.
~The book talks about mental health, abusive childhood, rape, violence. ~The story is just amazing and twists and turns keep the reader hooked throughout. ~The books end on a cliffhanger and leaves much too imagination. I would love to read more from the author in the future. (Please write a sequel to the book). ~The narration is amazing. The story is fast-paced and there is no single line where the reader will get bored. ~Overall, an amazing read and I just wish all the social evils mentioned in the book ends and mental health should not be considered a taboo.
