Angus McDonald is a man once suspected of murdering his soon-to-be ex-wife. Annie Colston is a murder mystery author with a knack for character profiles. They’re not your typical amateur sleuths.

As passionate cooks and members of the Golden Fork Club, they’re always on the hunt for great cuisine. But when Angus and Annie attend an elegant party at a hotel, murder is on the menu. Annie comes face to face with a distraught woman in the ladies room who later turns out to be one of two murder victims. Stunned when they stumble upon the crime scene, they are determined to solve what looks to be an unsolvable case when those two ordinary people are killed two floors down from that party.

But weeks later, when Annie meets another distraught woman in the ladies room of another hotel a thousand miles away, she and Angus recognize there is a link between the two crimes. As they dig into a nasty kickback scheme, Annie suddenly discovers she has a stalker. Is he after her because of the murders or is this something entirely different? Annie and Angus must work quickly to uncover the truth before anyone else dies.

This is the 3rd in the series. The main characters are Anne and Angus. They are two older friends that seem to get into trouble some how. They go to a party for Angus' business , Anne meets a very upset woman in the bathroom and end the evening finding two dead bodies. When they go out again a week or so later, Anne meets another very upset woman but this time she gets her to talk and then calls Angus and they set out to fix the problem. At about the same time, Anne starts to get someone sneaking around outside her place. Anne has a different way of figuring things out. She starts to write about them since she is an author. It helps her figure out what the stalker is doing and who it is. With Angus' help they figure it out. But the problem with the couple is not as easy. Can they figure this out in time ?

Writer of mystery books finds two dead people and helps solve mystery with companion. Both are foodies and members of the Golden Fork Club. Author has many references to writer's techniques and knowledge of publishing which I found interesting. However, her inserts of actual text from her proposed new novels often went on too long and seemed too contrived.

A Devilishly Delicious Culinary Mystery, # 3, EBK-M, Kindle, @ 2920, Read 5/20/2025. Fiction, Cozy Mystery.
A mystery writer, Annie, and her companion, Angus, find two bodies in an elevator, as they are leaving a party. Annie harden into the female victim earlier in the evening in the restroom. The woman was very visibly upset, but would not confide in Annie.
Annie and Angus work to solve the mysterious murder before a similar occurrence a few weeks later is eerily familiar. During this same time, Annie's condo complex is reeling with consecutive break-ins and attacks.
2☆'s = Okay. The number of grammatical errors, and the book within the book put me off. Just wasn't worth my time.

Good read

I liked this story better than the last one. There are two mysteries in this book, along with part of a book within a book. You'll have to read to figure that out. There were a few missing and auto correct words(that were wrong), but not many and not jarring. On to the next book.

I really enjoy reading this series. It is more a comfort read for me than WOW, everyone has to read it, but I will follow it as long as there are new books. I think those who enjoy Murder She Wrote would enjoy Like a Thief in the Night and the other books in the A Devilishly Delicious Culinary Mystery Book series.

Mystery with a twist

I liked the story within a story perspective. Some parts dragged a little bit. The characters are very believable and each adds a lot to the storyline.
