The perfect vacation: Rest. Therapy. And miles away from Reid Browning.

At first Eden thinks she's spending three weeks at Broken Hearts Ranch to heal her head. But the longer she works with Kellie, the more she realizes her head is not the only thing hurting. Images from her tour in Iraq stay hidden but not deeply enough, and she knows she will need to forget or heal or both if she is ever going to move on. As a bonus, the ranch was going to be a good opportunity to avoid the dating scene, and men in general. Or so she thought.

As a world class bareback rider, Reid has given his all to rodeo and does everything he can to forget his law degree and the fast paced life he left in Washington DC. That includes the woman he recently met who got under his skin in all the wrong ways. The trouble is, she got under his skin in the right ways too. When he escapes to Texas to support his college brothers in the Lost Creek Rodeo, he couldn't be more surprised to find her there.

Sparks fly and not always the good kind, but when circumstances throw them together and barriers come down, the two just might find a path to healing and maybe even love.

Welcome to Lost Creek Rodeo!

Best friends at a small college in Texas, six cowboys rise to become pro-rodeo stars. Follow Ryan, Reid, Westin, Ford, Eric and Lars in these six swoony sports romances.

Y'all, this book was so much fun! If you haven't read the previous book in the series, go grab it and read it, then read this one quickly. Lol! Or read this one, then go read that one. Because there are 4 more to come and if they're like the first two books, they're gonna be Grrrrrrreat!!!!

I can't tell you how much I am loving the setting of this book. The Broken Hearts Ranch in Texas. That makes it sound like it is implying a broken heart from a broken romantic relationship, which it does include. But it is so much more than that. The Broken Hearts Ranch is a therapy ranch for women. The healing that they need isn't limited to broken romantic relationships but for healing from anything that these women have gone through and is weighing heavy on their hearts and minds and holding them back from living a more full and joyful life.

I love how the first two books have addressed the two main women and their reason for being at the ranch. In this one, Eden is a veteran and experiencing concussions and other issues from serving in the military and being deployed. She has started a non-profit organization trying to bring awareness and help for veterans suffering from similar health concerns that she is now experiencing. I truly didn't want to set this book down. I was so invested in Eden's story and wanting to see how she was able to find a path to healing and helping others do the same.

The same goes for Reid. He may not have the same health and medical concerns as Eden but he has his own things in life that he needs to decide how he's going to address them, or just let them sit and not fix it. And add in his love for Texas and rodeo and his friends. His character was very enjoyable to read about and watch how he and Eden learned to help each other heal. Especially after their first couple of encounters and misperceptions.

Yes, they have some pretty great first meetings. Y'all, I was giggling! These two just made my day! And you know what? They're not afraid to admit when they make a mistake or misjudged a situation. And I loved that! I love characters who don't try to hide when they mess up. And on top of that, the chemistry between these two was so well written! Sparks! They made me smile so much!

And if you are a fan or rodeo, or don't have a clue about rodeo, I loved the scenes based around the horses and cows and rodeo. Well done! I've been to a few rodeos and cattle shows and they're pretty fun! Some moments of holding your breath but overall lots of fun!

Seriously, don't miss this series. You don't have to read the first book, but I will tell you that it gives some background on Kellie, who is the one who owns and runs the ranch and is the therapist. She's fabulous. I'm hoping that she gets her own story in this series. ;-) You have a month to read the first two books in this series before the third one releases. Ready, set...GO! You'll thank me! ;-)

Content: Clean. This book deals with some PTSD and memories of Eden serving in Iraq and explosions, and a mission that ended with deaths. The memories aren't super descriptive about the deaths. Some kisses. The book also deals with concussions.

I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

I was surprised by the contrasting careers of Eden and Reid. She is a high powered activist for veterans, and he acts the part of a rodeo star, shunning the political life of his father. They have a rocky first couple of interactions before coincidentally meeting up again at the Broken Hearts Ranch, a therapy-centered retreat run by Reid's friend. Their rocky start gets even rockier, until suddenly they do a complete 180. It seemed a little out of character for Eden, but she was tapping into her buried emotions at the time, and Reid was also in atypical circumstances. I did like that even after they got together, their personalities didn't change, and they both stood up for themselves even when they disagreed. It actually reminded me of my husband and me! They learn about listening to understand, compromise, and supporting each other, despite their uncertain future. I liked how they were able to discover new dreams and priorities. A great addition to the series and I can't wait for the next book!

When a bareback rider with a fancy law degree meets an Iraq veteran who runs a non-profit sparks fly in more ways than one.

Reid Browning has a fancy education and a law degree, but prefers to earn his living riding bareback in rodeos. Every so often he has to leave his cowboy hat and boots behind, don a fancy tuxedo and hobnob with the social elite at charity functions with his father in Washington D.C. This is where he meets Eden Cooper, who runs a non-profit for veterans. To put it mildly, their first meeting does not go well (neither does their second), and when Eden sees Reid leave with a group of women, her opinion of him is solidified. He's the type of man "who knows how to play the game", and that's the kind of man she can do without.

Eden goes to Broken Hearts Ranch to rest, relax and heal from the PTSD she suffers from her time in Iraq. Eden's great at shining the light on the issue of veterans suffering from head injuries and other health problems so they can receive help, but isn't so good at helping herself. She's holding on to painful memories and other hurts, and needs to learn to let go of them so they don't control her anymore.

Reid would prefer being on a horse than arguing with his father about why he doesn't want to live in Washington D.C. They've never had a real discussion about it, just arguments, so the issue has never been resolved. They both ignore it until it surfaces again. When Eden's big dog Bear causes Reid to fall, the resulting concussion may end his bareback riding days. He needs to find a way to accept that.

I love when characters have a rough first meeting and think they'll never see the other again, because you just know they will and the second meeting is going to be all kinds of awkward. Well, Reid and Eden are no exception. They get off on the wrong foot mostly because Eden misjudged Reid thinking he was like all the guys in a tux at a fundraiser--which was so far from the truth. Their second meeting soon after wasn't much better. Poor Reid.

I like when characters are adult enough to admit when they're wrong, and communicate with each other, which is what these two characters do. These two had oodles of chemistry which I could feel as I was reading. Holy Hannah. I liked how Reid realized he could to put his college degree and fundraising skills to use for Eden's non-profit. I liked how Eden used her experience with head injuries to help Reid with the effects of his concussion.

I'm proof that you don't have to be into sports to enjoy these sports romances from these Swoony Sports Authors. The books don't have to be read in order, but some of the characters pop up in the other books, so I prefer to read them in the order of their release.

I received a complimentary copy. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.

I love a good sports romance! And these ones by Sophia Summers, Heather Moore and Rebecca Connelly are some of the best. I love how you can read them in whatever order you want, they really don’t build on each other. But they feature some of the same characters and you get to see what happens to them. It’s just great!

This one was kind of fun because Eden and Reid had met before in Washington, DC. Reid kind of liked Eden, but she couldn’t stand him. Well, it was more what she thought she knew of him she couldn’t stand. I liked how as she got to know who he really was, Eden liked him more and more. Eden was a really complex character. She’s the leader of a non-profit working to help veterans. But what she hides is that she, herself, is a veteran. And she has some problems because of it. I loved that she was able to let go of those through her stay at Broken Hearts Ranch.

Reid is a bareback rider. He doesn’t want anything to do with the Washington, DC scene his dad wants him to be part of. He wants to live the idyllic life on his Texas ranch and do rodeos. Who can blame him? But getting knocked over by Eden’s huge dog gives him a concussion. And it’s doubtful that he’ll be able to do what he loves. I loved the way Reid makes life work for him, in his own way. He makes some big mistakes. But that just makes him seem more real.

This is one of those books I didn’t want to put down. I can’t wait to get to read all of the guy’s stories.

I was sent an e-copy of Chute Boss as a gift from the author. All opinions are my own.

It's the second book in this Lost Creek Rodeo series! Let's hear it for the cowboys! This story highlights Reid although all the rodeo boys are around so we get little glimpses of them. It really helps give this series a sense of community and family.

Reid and Eden have not just one not-so-good first meet but a series of them. First meet, second meet, third meet. . . yeah, you would think they would avoid each other because honestly? Their encounters are painful! But I guess there is something about attraction that keeps pulling them in. Reid and Eden appear to be opposites but as they get to know each other they find ways to communicate and share. They don't always agree but they learn to listen to each other and they learn how to support each other. I liked that.

This is a fun series so far. I can't wait to read the next book!

Fun book! I can tell this series is going to be fun! It has been fun to learn about the different rodeo events in each books. I liked that in this book both Reid and Eden suffered similar things and had to work through the pain and emotions of those events. I liked how both characters were so vulnerable but I liked that they had someone who could understand so of what they went through. I also liked that they clashed a bit at first because their first impressions wasn’t that great but they came to see the real person as they got away from DC. I really liked this book and it made me feel a lot of things. I’m looking forward to the other books in this series.

Not what I was expecting, but oh, so good!

I love that this series takes some serious issues, broken-hearted women, swoon-worthy cowboys, and melds them all into a giant pot of deliciously sweet romance. And I enjoy learning more about the rodeo life and the events that are a part of that career.

Reid is a bareback rider and those bucking horses would be not only thrilling, but terrifying. He has two completely different lives, yet he's solid and chivalrous. His way of coping is off-putting for Eden, and causes an intense enemies-to-love story. Both Reid and Eden experience a similar type of injury that almost forces them to bond, against their wills. Eden is a war vet and that took me by surprise, because I don't read many books where the woman is the vet, suffering the effects of her service. I loved that she was so strong and stubborn, but I wanted her prickles to be a little softer.

The chemistry in this book was passionate. I wasn't ever sure if it would explode into a rage or into something romantic, but those fiery emotions were definitely present, making this story very enjoyable.

From a massive dog, to collisions, to dances, to journal writing, to kissing...this book drew me right in and brought a lovely story to life.

Content: mild romance (kissing); mild violence (rodeo and war flashbacks)

This was such a fun read! I enjoyed this book even more than the last one in the series. I enjoyed following Eden's journey as a wounded vet to find peace and healing, and how her relationship with Reid impacted that. Their romance is very sweet and swoony! I love getting to know the other rodeo guys a little more with each book and look forward to reading all of their stories.

Two injured people trying to find peace and their future paths
Eden, an Iraqi war veteran, suffers from the aftereffects of the war the things she experienced and the concussions she suffered there. After returning home, she now heads a non-profit to help veterans especially those suffering the lasting effects of the concussions they received. Speaking at a Washington fund raiser she meets Reid who she sees as a shallow womanizer. But Reid was intrigued with Eden and hopes to spend more time with her. Little did either realize they would be meeting again. For Eden the memories of the war are as debilitating as the lingering effects of the concussion. Hoping to find some relief she enters a ranch/therapy center, truly not expecting a lot of help. Reid is also at the ranch, not for therapy but to train for the rodeo that he loves. When they meet again Reid suffers a concussion that may end his rodeo career. Can two people suffering through both physical and emotional losses from a concussion help each other find healing? This is the second book in a series but can easily be read as a standalone. I was given a free copy in exchange for an honest review

This is the second book in the Lost Creek Rodeo series and features Reid, a bare back bronc rider. His father is a Washington, DC lawyer with powerful connections. He wants Reid to use his education and law degree to further those connections instead of competing full time in rodeo events. He coerces Reid into accepting a seat on a nonprofit group to aid veterans led by Eden, also a war veteran, who lobbies for support from Congress. From their first meeting, she and Reid mix like oil and water. Later, Fate takes a hand and thrusts them together at the Broken Hearts Ranch.
This book held my interest from the first page. The novel is written well with an engaging and entertaining plot. The author takes two people who are worlds apart and weaves a believable story of romance. Will Eden and Reid find their HEA ending or will they return to their life of Rodeo and lobbying?

Wow. Another Broken Hearts Ranch and Lone Creek book. I expected more rodeo, but nothing about wounded warriors and vets. Some amazing things in here. I especially love the exploration of the difference between a man doing something for a woman because he wants to and not because he thinks she can't or shouldn't. Reid and Eden have a great connection that runs like fire and ice, and I love Bear.
Clean romance, great chemistry, wonderful camaraderie, the same great sense of belonging with the Six, and a feeling of knowing these people and wanting more. Looking forward to the rest of the series. Highly recommend, even if not familiar with rodeo or head injury. Love the patriotism.

My thoughts about this book:

• Broken Hearts Ranch was a place where women went to heal from emotional suffering caused by various reasons. I loved the ranch setting for this story. This was an amazing read that touched my heart.

• The author did an excellent job of character development. There were many secondary characters that added a special depth to this story.

• I liked that Eden had a military background and was at the ranch to recover from trauma suffered during military service.  She was a great match for Reid.

• The descriptions of locations and emotions were well done, easy to visualize, and to feel. I felt a part of the rodeo scenes and Reid's and Eden's daily life.

• This was a clean read.

I was given an advance copy of this book. My review was voluntary and my opinions were my own. I highly recommend this book and I am looking forward to reading more books in this series.

This book can be read as a stand alone, but to really understand and appreciate the secondary characters more, I feel the first book, Round Up, should be read first.

While my favorite thing about these books are the sparks and banter, I also love how they have real problems that pretty much anyone can relate to. I'd never thought of a place to go for emotional healing, let alone on a ranch surrounded by a bunch of cowboys, but it just...works. Learning to treat not just those around us with kindness and compassion, but also ourselves; being less quick to judge; and maybe looking for the good around us, will go a long way to helping all of us be a little happier. I love the family ties between the actual siblings, but also the rodeo guys and the women on the ranch, even though they may not be there very long. Throw in some romance, and it's hard to go wrong.

This is a great read. Fun and flirty, but also deals with some real issues that our veterans suffer, post serving. Eden served in Iraq and suffered a concussion and trama from the combat. She is fighting for more help, from the government, for veterans. Reid’s Father is a big shot lawyer in DC. But Reid is focused on his rodeo circuit, he suffers a concussion and worried about his future. How does Washington DC and Lost Creek,Texas fall into the same sweet romance? I recommend reading it, because it will pull you in and hold on til the end. I read it in an afternoon. Good storyline, hot cowboys, and sizzling kisses. Great series.

This was a good story. It introduces us to the characters Eden and Reid at a formal event in Washington DC. Then later they run into each other in Texas on a ranch. We get to know these two and they figure what they have in common and what is different about them. They learn that even though sometimes things are hard and there seems like there is no happy ending. With hard work and dedication things can work out. I gave this a four star because it had a hard time grabbing and keeping my attention, but I did enjoy it when I got through it.

Wow! This was a great and steamy read! In a clean way. 😊 Reid and Eden are so sweet! Eden is such a strong woman which I can appreciate. She is used to fighting for herself and afraid to let a man do the hard things for her. Reid was exactly what Eden needed. He is caring, affectionate, and a genuinely good guy. I really enjoyed this book! It is different but in a good way! I’m definitely a cowboy fan now! I am anxiously waiting for this year’s rodeo season. 😂

Getting to know Reid Browning in Chute Boss, it's clear to see why he is the unofficial leader of The Original Six. Smart, headstrong, and focused, not to mention devastatingly handsome, Reid is the whole package. Reid rides bareback in the rodeo, and is feeling the tug-of-war between the tug of his father's world (the very political, corporate America) and where his heart lies, which are his rodeo passions. Though he tends to come across as a player there is a deeper side to this ruggedly handsome cowboy that Eden Cooper seems to quickly tap into, a place few have truly been.

Eden is a character that I deeply admire. A military vet, Eden is fighting neurological damage from her time in Iraq, and is fighting demons from her time at war. The beautiful sorrow between Reid and Eden is expressly poetic and really captured my own heart. Eden is a challenge to Reid, and I love that! She craves and strives to be strong, and doesn't just give into a situation, but fights for what she believes in, and I admire that so much. Seeing two broken people help each other despite their amusingly volatile relationship makes for a charming story that is real and relatable.

I know this is a love story, but I was touched by something much more significant, a stirring reminder to give thanks for those that have fought and sacrificed for my freedom. To those who have served, thank you so much for your service! You sacrifice does not go unnoticed. I also love that the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that is very near and dear to my heart, was mentioned! Such a wonderful institution that needs more recognition! I left this book feeling more patriotic than I have in a long time, and that makes me happy.

The advice that Kellie gives is spot on (she is still my favorite character!) and there were a few pretty steamy moments, but nothing too graphic. It's obvious Eden and Reid are passionate in more ways than one!

I truly adore the Lost Creek Rodeo series so much, The Original Six starting to feel more like family to me, and I can't wait to get to know the rest of the team!

I have to admit that there were some parts of this story that weren’t my cup of tea but as far as the character development was concerned I enjoyed it and I liked seeing the friendship between Kellie and her clients (particularly Eden and Reid in this book, of course) as well as the interactions with her brothers friends progress. I find the premise of this series intriguing - a retreat for those with broken hearts who are trying to find a way back to healing and some sense of normal, not by ignoring the issues that caused the heartbreak but by learning to acknowledge the bad and embrace the good that there still is in life.
The story itself is very well written and the characters all feel so real to life. It’s like you’re right there on the ranch with them.
I also appreciated the fact that this is a clean read. Knowing this before even opening a book sets me at ease so that I can fully enjoy the reading experience. It gives me peace of mind, so I always try to make a point of including this in my reviews - half the time I read a review it’s specifically to look for that 🙂 so I hope this helps!
I received an arc of this book from the author however this in no way influenced my opinion and I am under no obligation to leave this review.

I didn't seem to connect to the two main characters in this book as much as I did to the two leads in the first book, but I still enjoyed it. The series continues with no real spoilers from the first book, so you could probably read this out of order as it stands well on its own that way. There are mild references to the first book and the other sports series by these authors, but no spoilers and nothing that leaves the reader confused or feeling like they're missing details.

Reid is trying to reconcile his two jobs -- the rodeo and law, as well as his two lives in Texas and Washington, DC. Eden is a military vet working tirelessly to push a bill through congress to help vets with their recovery from posttraumatic concussions and other long-term effects from their military service. They are thrown together by that work and also at Broken Hearts Ranch, where Eden goes for some healing time to deal with her anxiety and guilt. These are heavy issues dealt with in the book but in a light-hearted manner. There might be some triggers for some readers with a few scenes where Eden relives traumatic times from her military service.

Chute Boss was an excellent sequel in the Lost Creek Rodeo series. With goodhearted, true gentleman/cowboy Reid Browning matching wits against war veteran and capitol hill's special interest leading lady, Eden Cooper, the sparks fly from beginning to end. These two characters have a catastrophic meeting followed by another traumatic incident before they are able to start to see each other's sides. The romance is sweet yet intense, the characters have depth and meaning and once again these three others have me wanting more from the Rodeo scene than I would have ever dreamed of.

Sophia Summers, Heather B. Moore, and Rebecca Connolly impress me in the way they work together to write these stories. There is a cohesiveness that is unexpected from a trio of authors and the style is so different from most of their other novels. This is a truly enjoyable read- getting me worked up in defense of women and then softening again as Reid shows us his soft-hearted protector personality. I can't wait for the next in the series.

Reid came off as cocky at first and I don't blame Eden for not wanting anything to with a guy who looked like a playboy with all the women chasing after him. I like the idea of ranch to relax and heal at and that they allow you to bring your dog. My sister had Newfoundlands and although they are gentle giants they don't know their own strength and it's not unusual to trip over or fall around them. Reid did have an attitude about what he considered men's work and women's work. I have no desire to chop firewood, but I have no problem with working outside and would love it if a man wants to cook for me. Eden also had strong opinions about concussions and what Reid should do after her dog gave him one. I would be nervous watching my guy on the back of a bucking horse, but it's one of Reid's jobs and he has to decide what's best for him. He also shouldn't assume she would give up living in DC to be with him. They have their share of rocky and romantic moments. I liked the rest of The Chute and I'm looking forward to reading more about them.
