A Wyoming cowboy surprised by love meets a young widowed Rodeo star who isn’t ready to open her heart.
Broken Hearts ranch is working its magic again with young Hazel Winters, still paralyzed by grief at the loss of her husband. She finds hope and healing with Kellie Prosper and the other women at the ranch, but more than that, she finds an opportunity for new love. But is she well enough or brave enough to accept it?
Eric Davis is happy to return to Lost Creek with his best friends in The Original Six to support the Christmas in July Rodeo the town hosts every year. He expects to rope some calves, help out with chores at the ranch, and celebrate Christmas in the Texas heat. What he doesn’t expect is to fall in love with one of the guests at The Broken Hearts Ranch.
Read book five in the Lost Creek Rodeo series to find out if Eric and Hazel can find the love they’re both craving.
Sophia Summers is an award winning author who just wants to relax a little and enjoy a great beach read. She lives in a quiet southern town brimming with an extra dose of hospitality and a whole lot of charm.
She writes historical romance under a different name. The Billionaire Royals is her first contemporary romance series.
The Broken Ranch and Original Six rodeo studs have my whole heart! Just like his buddies, Eric is a charming, sweet, down-to-earth cowboy who captured my heart with his gentlemanly ways. I was delighted by his first meeting with Hazel, who caught me off guard probably as much as she did Eric. Completely unexpected, Hazel is a force to be reckoned with and I adored her spitfire personality.
It's amazing to me that each story has a woman who is staying at this therapy ranch and a man who is a rodeo cowboy, yet they're all so different. Similar ingredients but a different recipe yields delightfully charming results and I was a sucker for this one.
I especially loved the descriptions of the wide open skies and ranch work. Times feel simpler and are rejuvenating to the soul. Even the virtual escape was refreshing. I loved it and my heart craved the sweet romance that was offered.
Content: mild romance

Broken Hearts Ranch has become one of my favorite places to visit. Of course that visit is just in my imagination as I open each book in the series. But hey, I still love going there. I love revisiting old friends- and by that I mean the previous characters I've gotten to know- and to meet new friends. Kellie Prosper is one of my favorite parts about this series. She is fabulous. I'm really, really, really, looking forward to the next (last) book in this series because I'm hoping to see her find her happily ever after. *fingers crossed and toes too for extra luck*
And we can't forget those wonderful cowboys who are just a great group of friends and are so good to help out Kellie and Ryan on the ranch as well as being so supportive and understanding to those who come for help and healing. I've just truly loved how this series has turned out. And this book was a wonderful addition to the series.
Eric and Hazel...sigh. These two were so great. Hazel has a lot of spunk and I loved her character for that. She has a sweet and tender side as well. It was fun to see all of her personality and to get to know her better. Her heartache and healing was well written. The chemistry between Eric and Hazel was full of sparks and sizzle. It was fun to see them connect over rodeo and youtube. Lol. You'll have to read it to know more about those connections. They keep each other on their toes and develop a tender friendship.
Honestly, you can't go wrong with any book in this series. If you enjoy sports romances, clean romance, great characters, friendships, struggles, healing, growth, pain, introspection, sweet kisses, horses, and much more, this is definitely a book and series for you. I've had to have tissues by me from the crying and laughing. I loved the ups and downs and the emotions I've felt. Well done Sophia Summers (and the other two lovely authors who wrote books in this series)!

Oh no! The end? I don’t want it to end! I want more! (This is me throwing a hissy fit.-€) Well, since this is not the last book in the series looks like there is more yet to come. (Yippee!) I just loved Hazel with Boss Lady, and Eric with Sprite. They made the perfect couple and their horses both have great personalities. I’m glad they were able to work it out. I love his family. It’s so nice to read about a big family working well together. And of course the Original Six. Love those guys. My appreciation of them just keeps getting better and better. It was great catching up with them in their text messages (totally smiling here). And of course, where would all those women be if it weren’t for Kellie? She’s an amazing person. I hope she gets her own HEA someday soon. She totally deserves it. (Hint, hint.) This series has been a total joy to read thus far and I would expect nothing less from the next book. It’s a wonderful relief to know that a book written by these authors will be clean and wholesome and well worth the read.
Romance, sweet, contemporary; series, but stand alone read Eric's story in this series with "The Original Six" Rodeo stars, was a fun read! Hazel was a great character, strong, capable, talented, and multi-faceted. Her work ethic, and struggles were so human and real. Eric's family, his love for his home ranch in Wyoming, and his love of Rodeo all made for a fun read. One of my favorite reads is two honest hearts, working through what troubles they faced in their relationship. They had a sweet attraction, the ranch setting was fun, and of course loved how they respected each other. Eric was so patient to wait for Hazel to heal, and to try to work on how they could make more than friends happen while waiting. Fun setting, loved their back and forth, and always fun to visit the Healing Hearts Ranch. The Original Six, plus the cameo from Rocco (another series) and bit of a game was perfect! I received an ARC from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review, my opinions are my own.
I know that I say this every time I read one of these, but Hazel and Eric are my new favorite Lost Creek Rodeo couple. There were so many things about these two. I guess it comes down to the fact that they just work. Even when everything seems like it’s against them.
One of the really fun things about this one is that Hazel and Eric actually had known each other a little bit before they met in this one. They had been in some of the same rodeos and even had awards from the same rodeos. That was kind of a fun touch by the author.
Hazel has a lot to work through after the death of her husband. All the women in this series have a bunch to work through. I loved the way Hazel was able to overcome her regrets about how life had gone for her with help from Kellie and the other women at the ranch.
Eric seems to have everything in life he wants and everything all together. But life has a way of throwing things at you when you least expect them. And that’s what happens to him. And he doesn’t always handle things in the best way possible.
I loved these two together. They just worked together so well. And they seemed to complete each other. This is a great book. I’m sad there’s just one more of these.
I was sent an e-copy of Half Hitch as a gift from the author. All opinions are my own.
Two years after her husband's death Hazel is still struggling to move on, which is how she finds herself at the Healing Hearts Ranch in Lost Creek, TX. Eric Davis, calf roper extraordinaire with his own YouTube channel, is back in Lost Creek for the Christmas in July rodeo. Meeting a barrel racing cowgirl and falling in love was the last thing he expected that summer, but Hazel barreled her way into his heart. If he's smart he'll rope her in before she gets away.
Hazel is a spitfire and unlike any of the other women that have been at Healing Hearts ranch. All of the women and the reasons for their stay at the ranch have been different but there's been no one like Hazel, who brings her own horse, Boss Lady. Everytime she and Eric got together I could feel the sparks between them and I loved the flirty conversations. These two were perfect for each other.
Eric is a great guy, like all of the Original Six. He was patient with Hazel, knowing everyone heals at their own pace. My favorite scene besides Hazel and Boss Lady taking on a bull, was a shirtless Eric toss hay bales in the barn for his YouTube channel. *pass me a cold lemonade and a fan please*
I like how the women aren't the only ones who learn and grow and have things to work through or overcome. I also like that these are adult relationships without a lot of game or drama. These couples talk things out, even when it's hard. This continues to be a great series and I love all the cameos from the Belltown Six and Northbrook Hockey. I can't believe there's only one more book and then the series is over.
I received a complimentary ebook from the author to review. All thoughts and opinions expressed in my review are my own.
How can someone who has had no real loss related to someone in severe grief? A rodeo cowboy who loves Wyoming. A woman suffering from loss of a husband she only had for a few months, unable to move on. Eric loves his family ranch in Wyoming. He loves competing in rodeo for a break from the ranch and for the attention it brings to the ranch. His life has been smoother than many others have faced. Hazel married the man she loved to only lose him two months into the marriage. The loss was devastating and she can’t seem to move on. When she begins working with Eric on the Broken Hearts Ranch, where she has come to try to heal, she realizes that she loves and misses the ranch work she grew up with and gave up when she married. She’s drawn to Eric as he is drawn to her but how can he understand what she’s gone through? This book handles tough issues without being overly sad or depressing. The characters are realistic and compelling. I received an early copy and this is my honest review. I highly recommend it.
The formula for this series seems to be for a woman to come to Broken Hearts Ranch to heal, and fall in love with one of the cowboys from the Original Six. However each individual is so different, and Eric and Hazel definitely stand out. I loved that Hazel comes from a rodeo background, and naturally thrives in the ranch environment. It's cathartic for her to return to her roots and with Kellie as her therapist, does the work with her grief and healing that will allow her to move forward. Eric has a vibrant personality and enjoys the limelight, always coming up with interesting content for his YouTube channel. I liked that he was in rodeo for the fun of it, not crazy competitive, and nice that his storyline didn’t revolve around an injury like some of the other stories in the series. Once Eric is head over heels for Hazel, it's hard for him to be patient, especially with the ups and downs in their relationship. It definitely felt rushed, with Hazel sending mixed messages by putting on the brakes, then wondering why he doesn’t act when she was the one who rejected his advances. Sometimes the time jumps felt awkward, and I missed the development of their relationship in between those jumps. Hazel enjoyed a friendship as well as a client/therapist relationship with Kellie, but I missed the potential interactions she could have had with the other women who were clients on the ranch.

I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the books in this series that I've had the chance to read. Half Hitch does not disappoint! Hazel is a sweetheart that has suffered the loss of her beloved husband. Eric a a member of the Original Six, the guys that all competed in rodeo events at the same college. I love the close friendships that those guys retained. This story is filled with tender moments and humorous ones, as well as some sizzling kisses. And, yes, Hazel and Eric get their well-deserved HEA. I was pulled into this story, and nothing ever pushed me out. I would definitely read more from the authors of this series and highly recommend it to clean/wholesome romance readers, to Christian romance readers, and to cowboy romance readers. I received a complimentary copy. My review is my honest opinion of this great romance.
Half Hitch is another great rodeo story set in the world of Lost Creek. I love these authors idea of a ranch to help women heal from their struggles. This story is more focused on the romance of Hazel Winters and Eric Davis than the process Hazel goes through to heal. I missed seeing her healing process like the stories from the rest of the women in the Lost Creek Rodeo series have but the romance is still sweet and this couple has quite a bit to go through before they are able to find their happily ever after.
Sophia Summers, Heather B. Moore, and Rebecca Connolly work extremely well together in writing romance. Their sports romances are such fun reads and each one has a unique flair from the personalities of the characters to the role each of them play in their individual sports.
It was good to be back at the Broken Hearts Ranch with the Original Six. Sophia Summers brings out so many emotions in her books, laughter, heart break, true friendship and love, understanding and patience. Hazel and Eric were meant for each other, they just had to work through the pain and uncertainty of the past. I loved this story and look forward to the next book.
Hazel's husband died two years ago. She's come to Broken Heart's Ranch to learn how to live again. Eric is a rancher, a roper, and part of a very large and enthusiastic family.
Eric and Hazel have a lot in common: rodeo, ranching, a love of horses and hard work. The chemistry and banter between them was great. I was a little frustrated about the number of ups and downs in their relationship, but I was so happy when they worked things out in the end.
Content: clean (some kissing, topics of death of a spouse, grief, and regret)
When Eric returns to Lost Creek to help out with the Christmas in July rodeo, he doesn't expect to meet a beautiful woman who seems to be all he's ever wanted and more. The only issue is that Hazel is still struggling to get over losing her husband three years ago so she has come to the Broken Hearts Ranch to heal. Despite the mutual attraction between them, they have the obstacle of Hazel's grief to overcome. Hazel has a background in rodeo and working on a ranch so she impresses Eric with her hard work ethic and ability to handle the animals. Over time she needs to make the decision of continuing her career in publishing or returning to her roots and living her dream on a ranch. I have enjoyed the Lost Creek Rodeo series and the characters. It's interesting to see who each of the "original six" choose to pursue in each story. This series provides a great escape as each novel will draw you in until the end.
The Lost Creek Rodeo books are so much fun. Easy to read, entertaining stories with heartfelt conversations, all the emotions and as we all want-a bit of swoon worthy characters for the romantic heart.
Hazel needs to find hehaling for a broken heart and her trip to the ranch is just what she needs as she surrounds herself by people who want to help her step into new life opportunities, and also people who are suffering themselves. There's something about putting yourself in such a situation that can do a world of change in one's life. Hazel gets just that, and a surprising turn of fate, she falls in love...
Eric has all the heart, and a really great life, he just has to get on the path of discovery himself and find that his life is truly lacking in the love department. Reading about Hazel and Eric's love story was just the right amount of country, sass, heartache and love to make for a great story. Sophia Summers is so good at giving readers a delightful reading experience and she has done that again with Half Hitch. Pick up this series if you haven't yet and enjoy the ride!

What can I say about Eric’s story? What a trip I was taken on! Back to Broken Hearts Ranch and the Original Six. I don’t think Eric was expecting guest Hazel and her fiery and determined attitude. My favorite part is when she took on that bull, Hazel has guts! Seriously that woman is fearless! I loved her connection with rodeo and her love of ranch work. I loved this emotional journey of love and loss, friendship and family. The connection with the Davis family and the Northbrook Hockey Elite series brought this avid reader full circle. You do not have to have read any of the other previous books in the Lost Creek Rodeo series or any of the Northbrook Hockey Elite series to read this book. It just rounds it all out and brings it full circle if you have. I love Lost Creek Rodeo, I think I need to move to Texas, maybe I will run into one of the Original Six! In my dreams maybe? I received a copy of this book for free; all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I've really been looking forward to Eric's story, as he has been the most playful of the bunch. So it was nice to see how he deals with someone who's been through a huge loss — as well as coming face to face with real life within his own family. I was glad to see him step it up a bit without losing the "essence" of Eric — throwing bales in the barn for his YouTube channel was one of my favorite scenes. lol
There's only one more Rodeo book after this! I will miss the interactions between the Original Six and the amazing women they have found.
Clean, funny, and with HEAs, each book can be read alone, but you really need to read them all!
This has been a fun series, but I’m glad this story broke the mold a little more than the others. It made a lot of sense that a woman who came for healing wouldn’t be able to overcome all of her issues and her past -and- fall in love in three weeks and leave able to be in a healthy and stable relationship. I appreciated the characters, the comradery, teasing and friendship between the cowboys and I always love a happy ending. I’m really looking forward to the last book and Kelly’s story.
Another good book in this rodeo series! Good character development of Eric and Hazel. Enjoyed the journey of their relationship. Kellie always provides good therapy! :) Can’t wait for the next book! I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Eric is a pretty straight forward guy and when he meets Hazel, it is quickly obvious that he is smitten. Hazel, however is in a pretty dark place. Her grief has overwhelmed her and she is unable to move on from the death of her husband two years prior.
Hazel used to do barrel racing and is knowledgeable and strong when it comes to ranch chores, horses and sheer physical strength. She is also a former Rodeo Queen. (There’s a super cute scene involving that title.)
There are definite sparks between our main characters, but Eric tries to tread softly so that Hazel can heal. Hazel is focused a bit too much on Eric, but still, she is able to work on healing. Eventually, though, some separation is necessary for her to not use him as a crutch.
I don’t want to give too much of the plot away. Just know that there is an HEA and a realistic way for them to be together.
Hazel’s journey to recovery was a valid one; but I admit that I never felt truly connected to her or her pain.
*poor, **ok, ***good, ****very good, *****something special
Hazel lost her husband after only a short marriage and can't get over the hurt an pain she is living with. She decides to go to Broken Hearts Ranch to heal. While there she meets Eric. Eric is one of the original six rodeo men, he is content with his life, but looks with longing to his buddies who have found their happily ever after. Eric and Hazel find that they are able to help each other become stronger together. They learn to live, learn and love. This was a good book. I gotta say I enjoyed the series with baseball and hockey a bit better. Will there be a football series as well? Also, I want to read Kellie's story! I was given an ARC of this book. This review was left voluntarily and all opinions expressed are my own
Eric and Hazel were so fun in this book! I love that she got right on that ranch and go to work! I loved their chemistry and how fun a rodeo can be! Great story!
• Broken Hearts Ranch was a place where women went to heal from emotional suffering caused by various reasons. I loved the ranch setting for this story. This was an amazing read that touched my heart. These books were so much more than romance. They discussed important mental health issues.
• The author did an excellent job of character development. The characters were so easy to relate to. There were many secondary characters that added color and a special depth to this story, too.
• I liked that Hazel worked in the publishing field and was at the ranch to recover from the grief she was suffering from losing her husband. I now feel I understand grief more from reading this book.
• The descriptions of locations and emotions were well done, easy to visualize, and to feel. I felt a part of the rodeo scenes and Eric's and Hazel's daily life on the ranch.
• This was a clean read and I appreciated that fact.
I was given an advance copy of this book. My review was voluntary and my opinions were my own. I highly recommend this book and I am looking forward to reading more books in this series and by this author. These novels are all so unique and different.
This continuation of the “Lost Creek Rodeo” series holds true to all the previous books! It can be read as a stand alone but I have enjoyed it so much more for having read the previous books in order. I find it gives added dimension to the plot and characters. This book also brings in other characters from the previous sports series written by these authors and I recommend them as well.
I enjoyed how Hazel has learned that there can be life after death even though it can be a challenge to move forward. Eric is a great character that is easy to love and is kind. Together they learn that love can help any challenge in life to be lifted a bit by two or more people by your side.
I highly recommend this book and the whole series for an uplifting take on life and live.
Eric couldn’t help but take notice of the gorgeous woman on her beautiful horse who was fearless as she rode and expertly assisted with ranch chores. Hazel was at Lost Creek Ranch to try to find healing from the pain of her husband’s sudden death a couple years ago. She is drawn to Eric, a kind and handsome cowboy, because he reminds her of her deceased husband, Tyler. He even smells like Ty! There were lots of twists, turns, and moments of uncertainty in this story that kept me turning the pages. It was such a romantic story but also a story about friendship and what that entails. I enjoyed it! I received a complimentary copy from the author and this voluntary review contains my honest opinions.
I really enjoyed this book and the only negative I can think of is that it's the 5th in the series and that means there's only one more. Eric has fascinated me through the series because he's an interesting juxtaposition between modern (hello, YouTube) and old world (rodeo, ranching) and when he finds someone that also has feet in the new and the old, wow! I love that he gives her space even through it hurts him, and I love that she goes for what she wants and knows she needs even though others don't think it's quite right. Scary moments with family but overall good! Clean romance, great chemistry, good humor and fun Original Six banter, I definitely recommend reading!
I am loving the Lost Creek Rodeo series! Half Hitch is the fifth book and features Eric and Hazel. She comes to Broken Hearts Ranch as a widow with the goal of putting her husband's death behind her and learning to live again. Eric is one of the Original Six rodeo cowboys and has returned to Lost Creek to compete in the local rodeo with his friends. As they each navigate their way as friends and then as something more, life steps in and Hazel and Eric find themselves in different states under stressful situations. You already know Eric and Hazel find their HEA ending, but how they get there is pure romance! 5 stars 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
Wow what a wonderful story and series this is! Kelly sure can work her magic. I would be nice to get all of the new couples and their families together and see how they all work together. I think that if I remember correctly Ford is the only one of the group that has actually married in the series and is expecting a baby. The rest are just dating or engaged. I am anxiously waiting for the next book, sorry to see it is the last one, I have loved all of the books! Well done, ladies!
Another great Broken Hearts Ranch, Lost Creek Romance. This one has a special place in my heart, because Eric is from Stay Valley, Wyoming. I have many friends from there and think it is just beautiful country. Hazel is at Broken Hearts Ranch to receive help, moving on from the loss of her husband. The attraction between Eric and Hazel is sweet and delightful. I find the therapy and advice, given to the women at the ranch, is very sound for anyone reading the book. The romance is wholesomely swoony. And is fun to catch up with some past and future characters!
I really enjoyed reading this book! It is about a rodeo rider and a woman who is trying to get over her husband's death! The guy's dad has a bad heart and has to have bypass surgery so he needs to go home for a while. The woman goes back to her job. I recommend this book to anyone who loves western romance!
I love the rodeo riders of Lost Creek and the Original Six. This is a great series with wonderful characters with heart warming romances and I love Eric's story. He's been such a fun character in the other books of the series with his You Tube channel and his Rodeo King antics. I love Hazel and her growth throughout the book. DELIGHTFUL!
