On the bright side, she is more than lucky to have her childhood friend by her side in this endeavour, as he is willing to help her find a worthy woman for her beloved father. To make matters more complicated, her life will soon take an unexpected turn, when she finds herself inexplicably in love with her best friend. However, as Daphne is a mere merchant's daughter, without any dowry, her union with the charming gentleman looks like an elusive dream. Will Daphne accept her miserable fate, or will she find the courage to reveal what lies deeper in her heart?

Lord Benedict Gildon has always been a responsible man, looking after his large estate in Essex and caring about each and every person around him. When his best friend seeks for his guidance, he agrees to help her without a second thought. In the meantime, the new Season is upon them and Benedict travels to London with her, in hope of finding respectable partners. Little did he know though that he would soon realise that the woman he had always been looking for, has been standing right next to him all this time. What sacrifices will Benedict need to make to claim Daphne, the only woman who can bring sunshine into his life? Will he be ready to come in clash even with his own bumptious mother for the sake of true love?

As destiny makes Daphne and Benedict grow closer with each passing day, unexpected scandals and major obstacles will threaten to tear them apart forever. However, their love is undeniably powerful, and in the face of a loveless future, they must risk it all and listen to the truth of their hearts. In the end, will Daphne and Benedict manage to see through the threatening fog and reach the clarity of their love? Or will their fairytale ending burst into flames due to their poor decisions?

This book needs a good editor. I was only able to stay with this story for 32%, 92 pages, as I couldn't tolerate the overabundance of errors. 112 errors in 92 pages...proofreading errors, nonsensical incomplete sentences, changes of tense in the same sentence. When more time is spent noting errors than reading it's time to dump the book.

I cannot understand authors allowing their books to be released in this poor condition. They may have a great story, but without proper editing it's rated poorly. They are made aware of the errors but still choose not to have them corrected. In this electronic world there's no excuse for it. I'll avoid books by this author in the future.

I enjoyed the storyline and characters but the errors in punctuation and grammar drove me nuts.
For me, the errors were distracting and I struggled through the read to see what happened with the characters. Bit of a shame really.

Lord Benedict Gildon and Daphne Blanton, the daughter of a merchant have been friends since childhood. When Daphne’s stepmother leaves her father he becomes despondent and withdrawn so she decides she will found him the perfect lady to bring his smile back.

As always, she seeks the advice and help of her childhood friend, Lord Gildon. He has always been there for her and he delights in the joy she brings to his life.

This journey to help her father was quite enjoyable with scandals, ups and downs and self-realizations. Even as they face the unexpected scandals in their path Daphne and Benedict start to feel more than friendship towards each other. Will they wake up and acknowledge they feel more for each other than friendship and embrace a future together?

I read an ARC copy of this book and highly recommend it. I always enjoy an extended epilogue and this one did not disappoint.

This is a charming story set mostly in the countryside, although the characters do spend a little time in London. A naive country girl, whose best friend is now the Lord of the estate she and her family live on, spends most of her time appeasing her immature father. Through twists and turns and near scandal, the personalities of each character shine through, exposing their innermost desires. From the shallow, money and title obsessed members of the ton, to the simple and caring couple this story revolves around, there is a wealth of thoughtful, and sometimes frustrating, intermingling of diverse people. There is more than one happy ending to this delightful tale. This was an ARC copy and I gave it 4 stars.

Daphne & Benedict are neighbors and beat friends. Unfortunately, they’re considered to be from different social groups so society frowns upon a union between the two. Only Benedict doesn’t realize he’s in love with Daphne until it’s almost too late.
Daphne’s father was a merchant who is looking to retire. His second wife is a total wretch of a woman and sends dear old dad into the dumps. Because of this, dad makes some foolish decisions, nearly ruining any hope of a future for Daphne.
But in the end, before it was too late, Benedict realizes he loves her and stops her from making a huge mistake.

An engaging and delightful story that sucks you into the drama being unfolded from one chapter to the next. Benedict and Daphne are the main characters, but the other couples and individuals abound in this newest release by Bridget Barton. There remains a very distinctive class difference for this couple as they forge their way not only in Essex, but into the London Season. As always this is a clean, sweet romance that is suitable for readers of any age.
An enjoyable read that I would recommend.

I received an ARC copy of this book. This is my voluntary, honest, and completely personal review.

Charming Story

A miss named Daphne and a lord named Benedict were best friends from toddlerhood thru to their adulthoods. But as we all know being an adult also changes boys and girls to men and women. This novel by Bridget Barton is such a tale that explores the life changes for these two friends. The story is simple yet has very well drawn and interesting characters from both families that add fun and interest to the plot. I recommend a cup of hot chocolate and a big blanket in front of a fire because it wiil be very late when the tale is read.

Friends to lovers?
In this charmer, two friends set out together to help one’s father find happiness again. As they work together the chemistry blooms and love follows but as they are of a different social class does their love have a chance. I liked both Daphne and Benedict they were good characters how they are written makes them very realistic. It is a solid story that will keep you entertained from start to finish. Expect action in this one too. I enjoyed it and I am happy to recommend the book. I hope you check it out.

Daphne and Benedict have been friends since childhood. The trials Daphne has had to face with her wayward father are many. Benedict has been a constant source of assistance through it all. Their relationship is based on trust and unbreakable friendship. This grew for both of them into an enduring, lifetime, unmatched love. Their journey was such a joy to watch unfold I read this book in one day. The characters quickly became like old friends as they were so well written. This story has run through my mind many times since I completed it. I was gifted an ARC for an honest review.

I absolutely love this book! When Daphne ask her best friend to go with her for the next season and help her pick a suitable husband, he agrees to do it. Little does he know the man he keeps coming up with that would be the best for Daphne is himself. Although afraid to ruin the friendship and whether deathly will feel the same or not he contemplates the move. I absolutely love the last two chapters of this book OMG, OMG they are so worth waiting for. I highly recommend this book to those who love regency books.

A good romance story

Daphne is very caring of her father who is perhaps a bit of a hypochondriac. She tries very hard to take care of him, her two brothers and the house hold. She is fortunate to have a good friend in the lord a few miles down the road. They have grown up together. As the story unfolds she goes to London for her third season where events unfold that affected her and her world in a disturbing way. Luckily for her, Benedict is once again there to help. I would recommend the book to anyone who likes a good recency period romance story.

This is another gripping story

This is another gripping story that has you enthralled from start to finish. The plot is quite emotional at Times, and the characters are wonderfully crafted, with the determination to overcome their obstacles, and achieve their happiness. The extended epilogue is as usual, a brilliant tool that is used to bring their story's to completion. This is a great book that all those who love clean historical romances. I read an ARC copy.

Barely historical, and badly written

Was this a Regency novel? There were so many mistakes. Twentieth century slang (swell), a lack of understanding of Regency fashion (a gentleman wearing a shirt without a jacket was certainly not properly dressed), and the idea that an annulment was easily obtained? All ridiculous. Add the way the author kept switching between tenses in the same paragraph, and I will not be bothering with any of her other novels.

What a Dreamy Match

Most girls growing up dream of meeting a guy that will believe in them, that will encourage them, and that will always be there for them. How wonderful to have Benedict as your best friend and then as your lifetime partner. And Daphne grows to find love in all the right places. This story makes me feel good about what love is all about.

Best friends to husband and wife... cliche’ ...maybe... but the way the story of daphne and Benedict unfolds is innocent, sweet, exciting, tumultuous and unexpected circumstance. Through no fault of their own but of those that surround them... you just want and wish for love to prevail. Innocent may be...gives a boost to your own imaginations.

Nice read

There was a lot of action amongst these two neighboring families.
Despite the flaws on each of their personalities and despite the scandals they overcame, we end up with some sweet romantic endings

Always good reads

A good clean romance with a couple twists. I did feel the father character was a little too pathetic. I do recommend it to anyone who likes period romances.

I did not particularly enjoy reading this book. It had potential and the main couple was sweet. But Daphne’s father was so frustrating it made me angry. The story needed more developing.
