Christmas, New Year's Eve and Valentine's Day. Three holidays. One couple. Lots of steamy fun.
The Mistletoe Game: Ellie just broke up with her cheating boyfriend. The last thing she wants is to get involved with another alpha male jerk, but when her ex calls her cold in front of everyone, the only thing she can do to salvage her pride is to participate in The Mistletoe Game with a handsome stranger.
They're in public. It can't be anything too kinky. A few innocent kisses under the mistletoe but nothing is ever innocent at La Petite Mort Club.
A Banging New Year: It's round two for Ellie and Adrian.
Ellie is determined that she's done dating alpha males but when Adrian shows up at the bar on New Year's Eve and challenges her to a bet, she can't refuse. If she wins, she's in charge for the evening. If he wins, she belongs to him for the night.
Cupid's Misfire: When Ellie's ex steals her apartment she's left with no place to live. Adrian offers his guest room on one condition. No sex. He's determined to keep Ellie in the friend-zone unless she can accept that he may be an alpha male but that doesn't make him a jerk. But will either of them be able to keep their hands to themselves and if they don't will they be able to make their relationship work?
The Mistletoe Game It’s short and sweet and spicy. This story introduces us to Ellie and Adrian and sets the stage for the rest of the story to come. She’s having a crisis of self-confidence thanks to the jerk she’s been dating and he’s just alpha-hole enough to believe he can solve her problem. I really liked these two, but there are some of their idiosyncrasies that made me want to bang their heads together. I know it’s a hard-won attitude, but Ellie’s so negative, and she believes the worst about nearly all of Adrian’s actions. And Adrian is just the tiniest bit too cocky for my peace of mind. I’d like to see him learn some humility and for her to let go of the bitterness. I’m very interested to know what will happen next in their story. A Banging New Year I really liked where this book was starting to go. The sassy, snarky banter between Adrian and Ellie kept me laughing, but Ellie’s roller-coaster of emotions was sometimes tough to get through. I really liked Adrian. He’s still an arrogant alpha-hole yet I found it much easier to sympathise with him than Ellie. I didn’t enjoy that she spent this entire book punishing him for the bad behavior of her exes. He makes enough of his own mistakes that he doesn’t need to pay for theirs too. I’m interested to see how this turns out, because I’m not sure that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel for them right now. Cupid's Misfire Adrian may have backed himself into a corner, but he takes a stand for what he wants their relationship to be. And I really respect that about him. Ellie had me wanting to tear my hair out by the roots. She starts this book judgemental, cruel, and selfish. It took a supreme effort of will for me to read beyond her childish behavior. I’m very glad I did, because she does a lot of maturing by the end. I love where this book finally drags our leading couple, kicking and screaming and snarking all the way. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout.
When Adrian & Ellie Are Both Stood Up At La Petite Mort Club On Christmas Eve, Stubbornness, Steamy Chemistry, And Circumstances Lead Them To Spending Some Unexpected Time Together!
This is the three book Hot Holidays series about Adrian and Ellie. It is from the La Petite Mort Club world. La Petite Mort Club is a private club catering to those with similar interests in kink and offering a safe place to meet up and indulge. This series is very loosely connected to two books in that series. Book two in the La Petite Mort Club series – The Voyeur Series Books 1-4 – is Patrick and Annie’s brother’s best friend story. Book four in the La Petite Mort Club series – A Merry Masquerade for Christmas – is Craig and Liz’s story in which their marriage seems destined to failure.
For those that don’t read the books back-to-back, a brief summary of each follows to serve as a refresher.
From The Mistletoe Game, Book One:
Adrian, probably about twenty-nine, left the Marines roughly eight months ago after a decade of service. He loves his new civilian life working in cyber security and making a lot more money than he could have in the military. His old friend Mitch had talked him into leaving and introduced him to La Petite Mort Club. His boss at the PI firm at which he works, Patrick Westman, is also a member at the club. He is about to spend his first Christmas at home in years, but is meeting Mitch at the club before heading to his folks’ house in the suburbs for the holidays. He is the third of seven children and the only boy, so he knows how to talk to women. He might be an alpha and enjoy riling people up, but he also knows how to be a gentleman. There are certain things he won’t stand for – like men mistreating women and watching a woman cry.
Ellie White, twenty-six, keeps picking the wrong men. She has a weakness for arrogant and confident alphas, but she realizes she needs to make some changes. She is a forensic accountant, so facts and logic should make the solution simple. Since all her boyfriends have been alphas and every single one was has been a cheat, she needs to find a nice boring accountant type if she wants a different outcome. She had been with Marc for over two years, supporting his lazy ways and buying his excuses. He blames everything on her and it is only too easy to believe him – the argument that she drove every single boyfriend to cheat on her did have some merit, even if she didn’t want to believe it. If only Marc didn’t live with her, the break-up would be a little smoother. She hopes to find him gone by the time she returns from visiting her family over Christmas.
It is Christmas Eve at La Petite Mort Club and Desiree has organized the Mistletoe Game to get a little excitement in the air on an otherwise quiet night at the club. That Ethan is watching has her nervous – he has been out of sorts of late. She hopes to make the game a success in his eyes, but is a few people short. She works the crowd diligently and with a little arm-twisting, she secures Adrian – who only agrees to play if he is paired with sad woman at the bar. When Adrian and Ellie are both stood up at La Petite Mort Club on Christmas Eve, stubbornness, steamy chemistry, and circumstances lead them to spending much of the next twenty-four hours together.
From A Banging New Year, Book Two:
It is the Year Year’s Eve bash at The Blue Newb and Adrian is escorting his nineteen year old kid sister Paige as he promised. He and Colin watch on as Paige and Colin’s sister Anne Marie enjoy the festivities. He knew Ellie and her friend Alison were planning to attend with Alison’s boss, Gus Harker, and he wants to see Ellie again. Adrian hasn’t been able to get her out of his mind and hopes to take her home with him tonight. Colin takes over babysitting duty when Adrian spots Ellie, but he soon finds he has an uphill battle with the beauty. She is doing everything she can to push him away, but Adrian knows that she is using her words as a shield. She wants him, too. The foursome engage in a drinking game that makes for an entertaining evening.
Somehow Adrian eventually manages to get Ellie to come home with him, but the same obstacles remain. He wants to make her smile, and he admittedly wants more with her. But Ellie keeps brushing off the handsome alpha who doesn’t seem to get the message. Further complicating matters, her ex-boyfriend Marc is still in the picture. The leach refuses to move out so she is stuck with him until their lease is up for renewal in a few weeks. Ellie is trying to move on and leave her coveted alphas in the past, convinced they all start out strong and never fail to resort to cheating later in the relationship. Adrian may not fit her stereotype exactly, but she wears blinders where he is concerned. He is exactly her type, which makes him dangerous to her heart. Only a man with six sisters would have the perception and patience to sense that Ellie just needs time despite what she says. But Ellie pushes him pretty far and it is hard to watch him take so much from her, even if it is easy to sympathize with her situation. He knows how to dish it out, too, but it is mostly in jest or part of the game, while Ellie just wants to put him in her past. He does finally start to recognize the situation for what it is, thank goodness. The story ends with a mixed bag of sorts and leads to the conclusion of the series in Cupid’s Misfire, book tree.
In Cupid’s Misfire, Book Three:
This story picks up seamlessly from the end of book two. After Ellie finds herself suddenly homeless, she ends up reluctantly moving into Adrian’s apartment – probably for just a few days until she finds a new place of her own. He is not exactly happy about the way it happened. He had been pretty fed up with her insults and was beginning to see his efforts were a lost cause, but he now finds himself living with her under his roof after having promised not to touch her. Living together is a world of temptation for both Adrian and Ellie, and neither can figure out what they really want. Despite all the tension, though, they do get the chance to really know one another and do the ordinary things that couples do. Of course all that chemistry cannot stay below the surface forever, so arguments are inevitable. There are some hurtful words and actions, as well as some making up.
By the time Valentine’s Day comes around a about a month or so later, Adrian is feeling good about their relationship. Unfortunately, Ellie’s old reservations have not abated. The signs were there, but Adrian had believed patience was in order (his experience with six sisters had him convinced of the matter). But despite how well the couple gets along in the bedroom and out, they are moving in different directions. Adrian’s Valentine’s Day plans don’t work out the way he intended. There is a lot of heartbreak in this final installment of the series. It remains difficult to watch Ellie be so unfair to Adrian. She has some real issues to deal with. She can be rude and high maintenance. Ellie still wants to paint Adrian as a typical alpha male, holding his looks and gender against him. He patiently tries to show her who he really is, but her blinders continue to be a problem. Adrian, thank goodness, does a little more standing up for himself in this book. He wants to earn Ellie’s trust. And if that trust never comes, he will fail to put the smile on her face that he so desperately wants to see. A number of favorite characters make an appearance – including Liz and Craig, Annie and Patrick, and Ethan St. Johns. Adrian and Ellie end up returning to La Petite Mort Club in this book – which leads to some rather interesting developments considering the revelations in book one! The couple eventually earns a happy for now ending.
Adrian is a strange mixture of hot-head and gentleman. When circumstances call for it, he can turn on his impressive good manners. But when alone with Ellie, he has trouble with controlling what comes out of his mouth – although by book three he has learned a few lessons. We finally learn here that he hadn’t been in a serious relationship in years (so since high school basically), which he attributes to being in the service and deployments. He does, however, see something serious with Ellie and is okay with it. This gives their relationship hope. Ellie has gone from failed relationship to failed relationship, each time coming out of it with a cheating ex-boyfriend. She has a history of letting her alphas take advantage of her, so when her relationship blows up on Christmas Eve she decides it is her turn to be in charge. The problem is she doesn’t make a great leader. While Adrian is sensitive to Ellie’s needs (much of the time), she is largely focused on herself. Granted she just had a big breakup, but that is probably why their relationship is so unstable. Their drama is a bit over the top. He is persistent, while she is prickly and tries push him away at each turn. They spend much of their time at odds.
When Adrian and Ellie temporarily move in together, the tension becomes explosive. Their story is real and heartbreaking. There are a few laughs and a few tears. Their steamy Christmas Eve romance pairs an ex-Marine alpha and a burned-out forensic accountant who is not going to allow herself to be a doormat anymore. It is nicely written. There are only a few errors in my ARC copy. The plot is fairly simply. It does begin to drag a bit towards the end. The characters are complex and very headstrong. They have very real and relatable problems, though overly dramatic at times. The story is written in third person. The POV alternates between Adrian and Ellie. I rate this book four stars.

The Mistletoe Game This trilogy of sexy holiday stories begins at Christmas when Ellie is stranded at La Petite Mort Club after Marc - the boyfriend who persuaded her to go to a sex club with him - stands her up. While she is waiting for him, Adrian sees her and is immediately attracted to her. He persuades Desiree, who works at the club and is organising a fun game for patrons, to encourage Ellie to participate and arrange for them to be paired together. Marc's arrival and his lies and abusive attitude pushes Ellie into spending the night with Adrian. Well-developed characters and believable situations; Adrian is a little lot arrogant [sic] (with good reason) and Ellie is insecure and distrustful (also with reason). How things go right and wrong for this couple makes this a funny, tender and sexy tale.
A Banging New Year Adrian agrees to chaperone his little sister to a New Year's Eve party when he recalls that it is where Ellie will be. She tries to push him away, especially when she thinks he is checking out other women when in fact he is watching his sister. They spend the night together again, but he finds out her ex is still living with her. Unable to forget her, he keeps buying something for her, but tries to keep his distance but when he bumps into her in a coffee shop and her ex shows up arguing, he challenges Marc to a fight. Ellie is afraid Marc will hurt Adrian. Once more they spend the night together, but Adrian is annoyed that she doesn't trust him. The more we see of this couple, the more we want to give Ellie a shake and a talking to. But as is common with Ellis O Day's writing, we understand and sympathise with her annoying behaviour and just hope for the best. Still funny, still tender, still sexy, more frustrating!
Cupid's Misfire At the end of the second story, Adrian invited Ellie to move in with him on a platonic basis; they find they like each other a lot, have a lot in common and secretly are very sexually attracted to the other which makes living platonically very hard. When they resume a physical relationship, she is so scared of being hurt that she refuses to commit and when they argue and he spends the night with his friend, she is convinced that like all her previous boyfriends he has cheated on her. It takes another night at La Petite Mort Club - where she has the shock of her life - to bring her to her senses and when she sees his Valentine's gift for her (enough to bring tears to your eyes) she finally understand that Adrian really does love and care about her. Lovely, touching and - finally - a HEA.
A steamy romance boxset that pulls at your heart til the very end! Cupid's Misfire OMG, I loved the ending! Adrian struggles to stick to his rule of no touching Ellie as Ellie still has her wall up around her heart. Will Adrian be able to stick it out for Ellie to realize that what they could have is the real deal? The struggles are real and I feel for Adrian’s heart as Ellie unwraps her Valentines present which is just perfect!
A Banging New Year - New Years Eve comes in with a bang when fate brings Adrian and Ellie back together. I feel for Adrian’s frustrations yet love his persistence to fight Ellie’s brick wall around her heart and her bad thoughts about men in general. When her ex is above and beyond mean, it is Adrian and his friends who rescue Ellie in her time of need. With Ellie’s best friend nudging Ellie, will Ellie take Adrian up on his offer? You’ll have to read to find out and wonder how Adrian’s hopes and frustrations will manage!
The Mistletoe Game - Ellie may have just dumped her cheating ex, but her willingness to play The Mistletoe Game is not going to happen or is it? With Adrian pulling strings to get Ellie to play and her ex showing up, things can change in a minute. But Adrian’s persistence to break through Ellie’s standoffishness drew me in. I feel for Adrian’s frustrations as Ellie easily bats him down at every advance. But Adrian’s armor keeps coming back for more after their one night as he takes her to her parents for Christmas and meets Ellie’s family briefly. I can’t wait to read the next installment to see if fate will indeed bring the pair back together?
This is a box set for the three Hot Holidays books. In The Mistletoe Game, Adrian and Ellie meet at La Petit Mort Club on Christmas Eve, and he decides right then and there that he wants to be the one to put a smile on her face. Because she has only dated alpha male cavemen who have cheated on her, she expects him to do the same. In fact, she is in the process of breaking up with her latest boyfriend of three years, The story runs right into A Banging New Year, where he pursues her some more, and ends up at the same night club she is at with a friend while he watches over his sister, and again, she cannot let herself trust him. He is steadfastly there for her, whether she wants him or not. In Cupid's Misfire, Adrian will take Ellie any way he can get her, even if it is as a roommate and sex is off the table. They spend weeks driving each other crazy, only for it all to implode over her trust issues, again. He will not be grouped with "men like you" and leaves. She realizes then that she is in love with him, and is terrified. When they finally talk, she finally lets go. He has loved her all along. Their HEA is beautiful, and it takes all three books to get to it. There is Ellis O. Day's signature hot sex, and lots of it. While there are scenes in La Petit Mort, the club is not the focus of their relationship. Adrian and Ellie are believable and likeable characters I think anyone can relate to. This is definitely worth the read.

Loved this trilogy. I am very fond of Ellis O'day's work and have read many of her books from the La Petite Mort Club series. All her characters are well developed, her dialogues and language are always scene-appropriate and her works are well edited. The storyline for each and every one of her novels is unique, there are no carbon copies. Here, we have 3 novels, The Mistletoe Game, A Banging New Year and Cupid's Misfire. Ellie and Adrian demonstrate incredible chemistry and attraction, not to mention how Adrian comes to Ellie's defence demonstrates what a gentleman he is. He isn't used to being on the receiving end of the word NO. Yet the more Ellie is adamant they can have nothing more than the one night, the more he wants her. This is a very enjoyable, easy-to-read, steamy, hot box-set that I'm sure readers will love. I have no hesitation in recommending this charming HEA addition to the already successful La Petite Mort Club series.

I just started reading this author about a week ago and have read almost every book she has written in this series so far. Talk about hot and steamy! OH my goodness! If you want a book or series that you can read and share with your partner these are the books for you. Hot Holidays is based around the La Petite Mort Club. Ellie just happens to be at the club one night because her boyfriend at the time tells her to meet him there. Then not only does he not show up, but the thing he is messing with on the side also sends Ellie a photo of them together and of course she is upset and fit to be tied. Tells him it is over and to move his stuff out of the apartment. She ends up on stage at the Club with one of the hottest, most Alpha men in the place Adrian. He had spotted her across the room when she looked so sad and he was determined to brighten up her night. BOY, did things brighten up and change after that night. This is one hot and extremely steamy book that is oh so good. I can not wait to read more from this author!
Sexy but fun. I loved this book. It had everything, gorgeous hero, vulnerable heroine, lots of sex, hilarious banter, funny situations, and a great ending. Ellie is a bad judge of character if the fact that all her past boyfriends have cheated on her. She is alone at a sex club after being stood up and receiving an e-mail showing him having sex with another woman! Adrian, a gorgeous ex-marine, sees her so sad and decides to approach her to try to cheer her up. That ends with her on the stage with Adrian and her ex in the audience heckling. She is sure Adrian is just like all the other men she's dated and runs from him but he is just as determined to catch her. Poor Ellie can't resist him but just knows he will eventually break her heart by cheating. I loved both characters, cocky Adrian is a hoot! Ellie needed a good slap but I could feel for her. Great romance, great book!! A must read!
In Ellis O. Day's "Hot Holidays Series", she takes us through Christmas, New Years', and Valentines' Day with Adrian and Ellie. This series is a bit different than what I've read previously because neither of these characters has a solid ground in the BDSM world. Each of them has its kinks but nothing hardcore. Just two individuals that are flawed from a life that has incredible chemistry between them. The problem? Those life lessons have made Ellie a bit more than gun shy but Adrian's up to the challenge. Three incredible stories. Smoking chemistry and HOT scenes. There were even a few well-placed surprises thrown in that were wonderful. I'd certainly recommend this one.
Loved this set of holiday stories. The banter between Adrian and Ellie is wonderful. Adrian is a strong alpha male who can't help but get himself in trouble. He thinks that because he has six sisters, he understands women. And to a degree he does. But the alpha side of his nature can't help but rear it's ugly head at the worse times. Ellie is entertaining although at a couple points I wanted to hit her upside the head and tell her to stop lumping Adrian in with her past boyfriends' bad behavior. I just wish the story wasn't over and will be adding this to my "to be reread" list.
I love the way Ellie O Day's mind works. So far I have not been disappointed by any of the books. Except she can not write them fast enough. Loved the storyline, returning characters and Ellie & Adrian. Ellie is thick headed, stubborn and mean to Adrian. He is a brute for punishment...not in the naughty way. Ha ha. I love my bdsm books but this book is not anywhere close to bdsm. In fact, just alpha male. Loved this read anyway
I loved this book and I love Adrian. Wish I had an Adrian. It was a shame what he had to go through to get Ellie. She was all up and down, more down than up, until she finally came to her senses. The steam scenes were STEAMY and the banter between them was terrific. This book was an enjoy to read. Thank you for the copy.
Great series. Ellie a bit annoying however with her unfortunate record of cheating bastard exs who can blame her for being overly cautious. Adrian...too good to be true. From the start he knew what he wanted and was persistent on getting Ellie to see the real man he is. So worth the read. (Reviewed by Lin)
Loved Adrian and Ellies story! Loved the witty banter. Ellis is a great writer. Love her humor and hot sex scenes. I recommend any of her books they are all great!
Love this story, it has everything going for it! A terrific story, a couple who are talkative and have funny, expressive banter. A split and great make up sex. It’s just so easy to read!!
If you're in the mood for a Christmas themed hot romance this is the one for you. I enjoyed Ellie and Adrian's story. This one has got some interesting curveball in it which personally I thought we're hilarious.
I loved this series With Ellie and Adrian! The sex scene were hot and steamy, the storyline was quick witted, funny, sometimes tears fall, but you totally involved in the book and characters. Truly worthy of a re-read.
There are precious few authors that are good enough to read everything they publish. This author is that good in both her incarnations, as Ellis O. Day and L. S. O'Dea. This delightful romance will take you from Christmas all the way past Valentine's Day and you'll love every minute of it.
Intense, funny, moments of slight suspense. True raw emotions, because sometimes we can’t get out of our heads. Listening to instincts and gut feelings never steer you wrong.
This has a set of three stories perfect for the holidays but also whenever you need a sexy pick-me-up. The stories are sweet and steamy and hit me right where I needed to decompress.
