The last thing Lautner ever wanted was a mate. After a chance encounter, the clock is ticking. He has seventy-two hours to claim his mate or lose her forever.

Danika: At nineteen, I had spent my life hidden in the shadows, controlled by the hands of my domineering father and pack Alpha. Now, he expects me to marry the pack Beta, an arrangement made long before I was born. Seeking a night of freedom, I head to the one place forbidden by my father, The Warehouse, ran by the notorious vampire Motorcycle Club, The Sun Sinners. Its reputation for violence and an array of unruly supernatural clientele is probably not the safest place for a shifter who has yet to turn, especially considering the number of enemies my father has. What I didn’t expect was to find the man who would finally entice my wolf to the surface. Too bad he looks like he would rather kill me than f*ck me. I always believed that fated mates never existed, but could he be the one to save me?

Lautner: As pack enforcer, and undefeated illegal cage fighter, violence is a part of my life. My father taught me that from an early age. He also taught me that mates are nothing more than a problem that I didn’t need...until I met her. Her scent catches me off guard, almost costing me my life, and yet as much as I don’t want her, my wolf has other ideas. I want nothing more than to hide out until the bond is over, but when a shifter turns up mutilated on the outskirts of Stone Valley, it looks like the rumors about the hunters are true. The Shifter Council has ordered neighboring Packs to work together and bring them down. Given the animosity between the packs and my wolf going mate crazy, the last thing I expected was her to turn up at my door...with her fiancé in tow.

Lautner is Book One in The Stone Valley Pack Series but can also be read as a standalone. It is a full 70,000 word novel with a HEAFN. Please look out for Seth’s story in Book Two coming soon.

This book is recommended for readers 18+ due to strong language and steamy sex scenes. Warning this book contains scenes of abuse/assault that some readers may find triggering.

This is an engaging, dark paranormal romance. While I enjoyed the story, the writing needs a lot of work. There are countless grammatical errors and typos (as of the time I read it, May 5, 2021. It might get an edited version uploaded after this). The book is written in first person, present tense, but the author regularly accidentally slips into past tense, which made the book a lot harder for me to follow. I had to reread multiple passages, just because I wasn’t sure if something that was said should actually be in past tense or not. (A made up example would be: “I was angry”--does that mean you aren’t angry anymore? Or did you intend to say that you are angry?)
Dani and Lautner were also a little too back and forth in their relationship for my liking. I love that type of dynamic between love interests--where they’re fighting their desire to be together. But having them go back and forth so much in a single conversation gave me whiplash.
All this said, there’s a lot of great suspense in the book, and the steamy bits were good. I’m not entirely sure if I’ll check out other books in this series unless I know that they’ll be better edited.
2.5 stars, rounded up because it’s a debut novel.

Oh my! You guys are in for a treat!

I picked up this book and couldn’t put it down until I’d finished it. It’s amusing that this book briefly discussed substance abuse, because I was addicted and now it’s over I feel a little lost, in need of the next fix.

The writer contains the perfect amount of description to emerge you in the book, whilst not overdoing it. It truly is written insanely well.

With regards to the story line, all I’m going to say is that this is not your typical story of the mates. The storyline is original and almost makes you forget any other fan fiction that’s been read before. Very raunchy at times so the 18+ is definitely a good target audience, but who doesn’t love a bit of smut, especially when it’s depicted in such a effortless way.

Very easy and excitable read.

Would recommend anyone to peruse.

Great thanks to the author for producing this and I can guarantee I’ll be one of the first in line for the next book in the series or any other this author produces!

2.5 ⭐’s
KU shifter fated mate romance between Dani and Lautner. Dani’s had a tough life. She’s the only child of an abusive alpha, and is being forced to marry an equally abusive beta. Wanting to get away, she sneaks out to the Warehouse for the night and meets Lautner, a pack enforcer, cage fighter. He recognizes her as his mate immediately, but he’s not interested in a mate, so he pushes her away after some heavy petting. Dani hasn’t shifted yet, so she doesn’t realize they are mates, but she’s instantly attracted. Lautner has every intention to allow the mate bond to fizzle out, when they run into each other again with the fiancé in tow.

I believe this is the author’s first book, and she did an excellent job for a new writer. The style is a smidge simplistic, but there’s talent there… and the proofing is pretty good too. There’s also a little angst fueled by Lautner’s continued rejection/flip-floppy behaviors. I found the beginning confusing because there’re many characters to keep straight, but that part gets better.

We get some of Lautner’s backstory through flashbacks, but I thought there were some holes. Specifically, with the world building, and there are times I felt like I was winging it and learning as the characters went about. Like the mating facts…

Bottom Line- Ok with some skimming. It wasn’t bad, but wasn’t super exciting either. If this was a more seasoned writer, I’d 2-star it, but am rounding up since she’s a newbie, and there aren’t many reviews out there. The bones were good, but the execution took the long way around. So, I was bored some waiting for the characters to either do something, or catch up to what I already figured out. Character stupidity and non-logical choices are used as plot devices. It doesn’t end in a cliffhanger, but the story is left open, so I’m sure there’ll be other books. **safety- mention of rape, mild violence/torture. There’s a couple of occasions with OW, but he’s not with anyone after meeting her. A small bit w/ OP in flashbacks.

LOVE FINDING NEW AUTHORS

I was just browsing around looking for something to read when I stumbled on Lautner by Elizabeth Jones who is a newbie author to me and I figured I would give it a shot.Well this author now has a life long fan. I loved this book.

Darkish Elements❗️wolf shifters❗️fated mates❗️amazing storyline❗️

Dani was sheltered all her life as the daughter of a horrible Alpha and Lautner the enforcer from a different pack. Both have not had it easy growing up what happens when they meet and realize they are fated mates!?

This books held my attention from page one. This isn’t an insta love story, i really enjoyed that about it. So much happens I couldn’t get enough I am excited for Seth’s book!!!

Lautner

This story was a great read. I’m actually really excited to read Seth and the upcoming Dani that continues Dani and Lautner’s story. And I’m not always excited to read additional books in a series that aren’t about the ones I have just invested my time with. So great job and I am looking forward to the next couple books.

Rebellious latent daughter of an Alpha falling for a dark and dangerous enforcer. Dani is treated poorly by her father and constantly made to feel weak and worthless due to her inability to shift. She has been promised to her fathers Beta who is abusive ad has no respect for females at all. Dani feels she has no choice but to please her father as she essentially has no value to any pack without a wolf. She is rebelious and visits a warehouse that her pack have been banned from to meet with a man she met on the internet that she gets on really well with. When she goes to the warehouse she meets with Daniel and they get on really well. However it is fight night and when she spots Lautner in the fighting cage the spark is instant and she doesn't understand what the pull between them is. Lautner however knows exactly what it means and that they are in fact fated Mates. Lautner turns out to be Daniels Pack Brother and is really bummed that he and Dani will not be any more than friends but accepts it in the end. That night Dani and Lautner share a passionate moment and as far as they are both aware at the time it was to end there regardless of the pull. Fate however has other ideas and Dani ends up visiting Stone Valley Packs Territory with her betrothed and her father so her and Lautner are thrown together in the same house. Needless to say it becomes clear that they are not going to be able to resist each other for long. Lautner discovers that Dani is actually being drugged to suppress he wolf and she is in fact not latent but a very powerful Luna wolf. Together with the Stone Valley Pack they unravel a plot to destroy Lautner. There are forces out to destroy the Stone Valley Pack altogether which will be what progresses and builds through the series.

I will say that parts of this book are well written and you do get a full understanding on what happened to Lautner in his past that has led to him being so cold a ruthless. However parts that are about the mating bond and relationship forming between Dani and Lautner can come across a bit random and sudden. When Dani first tells Lautner she loves him i can't say that there was much warning or feelings described for her to be feeling that way. It just seems to come out of the blue. I would expect some kind of lead up to her declaring it to him. The whole strong feelings for each other just doesn't seem to develop well it just sort of happens.

The book was enjoyable but perhaps just a bit more detail needed to really draw you into the story, I look forward to reading the next instalment.

Author can’t decide whether the book is in past or present tense, especially when it comes to exposition. Also seems pretty confused about semicolons and “would’ve” vs “would have” and the like. Get an editor!

The guy the FMC is arranged to be married to is bafflingly, cartoonishly evil:

“You are mine, Danika. Just because I haven’t claimed your body yet makes no difference to me. I’m sure I could persuade your father to forego the ‘no sex before marriage’ rule.” His hands reach out, gripping my arms so tight, I know there will be bruising tomorrow. “It’s been a long time since I’ve been with a virgin. I promise I won’t go easy on you. In fact, I think I’d enjoy it better seeing your pain and misery.” He laughs cruelly.

Who talks like this to their betrothed? At BEST, you’ll make her so desperate to leave that she’ll catch a midnight train going anywhere; at worst, it’s Goodbye Earl. No good outcomes. Even Prince Hans wasn’t dumb enough to reveal his hand until Princess Anna was already dying, and he’s a literal Disney cartoon villain!

The main characters are just as stupid; they frequently say one thing and then do the opposite. Starting with the MMC’s first words to the FMC being “you need to leave” and “this isn’t gonna happen” and then immediately cornering her on the way out; then the FMC and her OW drama going all “I’ll stay out of your way since I’m clearly not wanted” and then instantly turning around, going right upstairs to his room, and sitting on the floor to wait to confront him (again) because she was “done letting people walk all over” her.

All the villains in this book are rapists and/or encouragers of rape (i.e. the FMC’s father) and there’s absolutely no moral ambiguity to any of them. Therefore, when the FMC is forced to reject the MMC in front of everyone (after telling him she would never do so the night before) he’s basically an idiot for believing her. He didn’t even try to separate her from her fiancé and her dad to get the full story out of her; he just took her at her word while they were both literally breathing down her neck. So stupid.

Anyway, after a lot of unnecessary torture, I’m finally done with this book and I say good riddance. It’s not worth it, IMHO.

Now I’m angry. Don’t get me wrong the book was amazing but I need more and there isn’t any yet. I can’t wait to read Seth’s story, although I got excited since the end of this book said it would be out February, it’s March and still no more Seth. I’ll try not to go cry now.

The first page of the first chapter you learn that Danika’s dad, Ryder Cortez, is a complete asshole.
(Also it took me forever to find his first name. I couldn’t figure out why I didn’t remember it, turns out it’s literally only mentioned once in the book and even then it’s just on a document Lautner finds. I’m okay with that because that ass did not deserve a first name.)
You figure out her fiancé, Drake, is also an ass and then add in there when she first meets Lautner he’s an ass. Basically it seems this girl did not have any luck with the male gender in her life. Except Brandon, he’s in the same pack as Lautner and liking Danika but she see’s him as a friend, we love Brandon. I want more of his story too, preferably with him being with Lacy of course because that girl is to loyal to Danika not to get a book. Although that’s just my opinion of course.

Through a lot of crazy gripping moments in the book you learn that Danika’s dad and fiancé aren’t just assholes they are full blown dic-cunte-fukmuffin-heads ( yes I made up a combination of words to attempt to show at least some of my hatred towards them, the spelling is a small attempt to censor it slightly).

I loved this book and I can’t wait for more. It being Dani about Lautner and Danika, Seth’s story, Lacy, Brandon. Anyone, Everyone. I’m not usually the biggest fan of series that continue following other characters, there haven’t been many where I want more on the other characters. This series makes me want more of this story but also the story of everyone else.

A must read!

SO, SO GOOD!! 5 +++ Stars!

Based on some of the reviews I read, I almost didn't read this, but I am so, so glad I ignored them!!! This was one of the best books I've read this year. The angst was top-notch!

I can not believe it's her debut novel! It was so well written. There were complaints about that and about errors in punctuation, etc, but if there were any of those, it was so minimal that I didn't even notice them. And believe me, I notice those things!

The world building was excellent, and the characters were all well-defined and believable, so much so that I could feel their emotions. The storyline was awesome and the suspense was good.
I got wrapped up from the beginning and stayed there! I had to force myself to put it down at 1:00am this morning bc I had to get up early.

There were also complaints that it didn't have a solid ending and HEA. Not true.
Lautner and Dani did have their HEA, but this will be a series where the story continues, and these characters will play a major role throughout.

Do not disregard this book because of a few disgruntled readers. You won't be sorry you took a chance on this one. I can't wait for Seth's book and to find out what happens next!

The writing was basic, with problems from poor grammar to lacking atmosphere and scene setting, a limited vocabulary and the same phrases used several times like "a delicious shiver down my spine". The character's were ridiculous, all that ping ponging about, him telling her to get lost then literally seconds later approaching her and telling her she doesn't get to walk away from him, and asking her why she ran from him. Ridiculous. Here's a thought maybe it's because you called her a wh*re and to stay the hell away from you. Idiotic. Eye roll bad.

The story was predictable. From the second Daniel tells her about the hunters, I thought her father was involved, as I didn't finish even a third of this book I could be wrong. But it seemed like it was heading that way. Immature behaviour and actions by the characters were really the only things driving the plot and those weren't enjoyable, including the ridiculous immature behaviour I mentioned by the H and when the heroine has a heavy make out session with him and letting him slip the hand minutes after he treats her like crap and calls her a wh*re. Other things were usless filler. Not good.

amazing debut

This book had a few things going against it for me but I still found myself drawn to it from the well crafter blurb. New authors (especially debut) don’t necessarily draw me and this trope (shifter romance) is one I rarely entertain.

Well paint me converted because this book knocked me off my feet.
Drawn in from page 1 I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to unwind all the questions this book was throwing at me.

Strong characters all round, the author has skilfully begun building a world I am just desperate to know more about.

The story starts dramatically, adds more drama, concludes dramatically and even though there is a hea, I strongly suspect it might be a hfn and there is drama there too. Honestly be prepared to feel all the emotions as you feel everything from empathy to anger at Lautner and Dani for everything they have gone through and continue to experience (at their own doing some of the time!)

A genuinely good read I am looking forward to reading Seth’s story (feel this may be even more emotional though!!) as well as Dani’s story later in the year

Yummy alpha

Painter is a fierce dominant alpha. For that along I give 5 stars. I like my alphas fierce and possessive. They are gentle and loving to their mates and deadly to everyone else. Launter is that alpha. Dani is a broken wolf. She is weak both by her broken wolf and her attempt to stay out of her me way. I didn't mind that personality trait because that was her survival instinct. I gave her a 3..5. The story was solid. I liked it. The one thing I didn't care for was the damsel in distress theme being replayed throughout the story. Its always Dani from minor attacks to dangerous ones. It got old.

This is the debut novel from Elizabeth Jones and it's actually my first shifter romance. I'm not new to the paranormal side of romance, I just tend to stick with vampires but I can safely say that after reading this, I will definitely be reading more!

I loved the dynamic between Dani and Lautner and how they both would try and fit that they were fated mates. Lautner had a rough up bringing and you really understood why he wouldn't want to have a mate. Dani has her own issues, most of them coming from her father.

This is filled with romance, drama and a lot of spicy scenes! If you're a fan of paranormal romances, I definitely recommend this!

Lautner

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
POV: Dual 1st Person
M/F
Stand Alone: this is a HEAFN so there is overarching story that makes you want to read the next book. Not exactly a cliffhanger but not a fully resolved back story either.

Usually my rating system is based solely on the story and not the editorial stuff. However, I did remove one star from this rating because of some severe editorial things that seriously detracted from the reading experience. That being said, if you can move past the edits that need to be done the story itself is phenomenal. Editorial issues or not I plan to read on!

Happy Reading my Friends!

This shifter story follows Dani and Lautner as they discover they are fated mates.

Lautner had no interest in having a mate - until a violent chance encounter had these two meet.

The story was well written, and VERY dark.
Trigger Warnings: sexual assault of multiple people, drugs, graphic violence, murder.

Although I enjoyed finishing this one, due to the nature of the storyline - I personally will not be continuing with the rest of the books.

I’m sorry I just can’t… the story itself was fine but the grammatical errors were beyond what I could handle. It was so distracting and made reading this book very difficult. The story is told in present tense but the author constantly slips back to past tense and it does not make sense at all. I think that if the author had an editor who actually did their job and edited this book correctly it would’ve been great. As it stands I had a very hard time getting through this book.

Pretty good

I decided to read this from a small video clip and it wasn't too bad. There was a good storyline and I felt the spice was even enough with the overall plot line. There was a lot of loose ends and a feeling of it isn't quite done yet. Yes the love part was nicely written and concluded but I just felt like there something missing or not finished. It could be that things conclude in future books if it is a series, however I happy with the time I spent on it.

Had so much potential but midway fell flat!

Also the characters didn't have much depth to them so hard to form an attachment.

The plot is weak, not least because one minute lautner rejects dani and then he's all over her because of jealousy towards drake. Which was understandable but it just didn't ring true fully.

It was just all very predictable, formulaic and boring.

Nothing new or what I haven't read hundreds of times with this trope.

Uninspiring

An ok average meh read.

Shifter romance at its best!

I have a weakness. It’s protector, alpha wolf shifters who would die for their mates. They never give up, they never falter, they prove every day what a fated mate should be. Lautner is all this and more.

Elizabeth Jones has delivered a riveting debut. Full of action, suspense, and heat wrapped up in an intriguing plot with strong writing. If you love wolf shifter romance at its best, do yourself a favor and get this book now!

Good read

Told mainly from the male character Lautner who finds his mate in a place he least expects to find her. It covers very sensitive issues including rape and abuse. It has smut in it throughout which to be fair Im not keen on but the story about the characters is good so I would recommend it.

So Good!

Y’all I love fated mate books. They make my heart happy and my soul ache. This one really knocked it out of the park. The story line was interesting, the people were captivating and it never got weird. The steam was incredible and the HEA was the best. Can’t wait to read Seth! If you like fated mates read this!!
