Any manga whose bread and butter is action tends to be at risk of ‘power creep’ where things continue to escalate as the need for ever increasing stakes raises abilities to greater and more ridiculous levels.

There is certainly a fair amount of that in this series, but it doesn’t bother me quite as much since Iruma is just so dang likeable. This is a common refrain from me, but just being nice helps this manga a lot.

That being said, this current arc isn’t quite engaging me all that much. It starts off strong; Iruma appears to waste an entire day doing nothing and he also gets Clara putting the moves on him in her own inimitable style.

The Clara thing is cute, although I have not spoiled myself on the series and am rooting for Ameri the whole way anyhow, but the day wasting angle doesn’t pay off, and won’t until next time, which makes it a bit of a letdown.

As the rest of the school is slowly whittled down, we get an extended digression where the sleepy guy’s powers are suddenly changed and we learn about his bond with another classmate. It’s fine, but a little long for what it is.

Same with Az and Sabnock’s big blowout that wraps the episode up. It ladles power upon power and just kind of goes. Sometimes I’m in the mood for this sort of thing, sometimes I’m not.

The whole premise for this arc isn’t terrible, but it definitely isn’t grabbing me as hard as the last big one. There’s nothing wrong with it, but it hasn’t landed with any amount of oomph yet. I’m not on pins and needles to see what happens next or anything.

I’d still put average Iruma above most manga, it’s certainly earned that much at least, but I’m also more prone to being harder on it for its faults at the same time. It can do this better and has done so.

3 stars - an average outing from a manga that tends to be above average or higher. Hopefully this will get a little more interesting as it goes along.

J’ai enfin pris le temps de lire les tomes qui étaient dans ma pile à lire. Il était temps pour le coup d’ailleurs! Il ne me reste plus qu’à me procurer le dernier tome sorti et je pourrais enfin être à jour. Qu’est ce que ça m’a fait du bien de replonger dans cette histoire que j’aime tant. C’est vraiment le genre d’histoire qui vous donne le sourire, qui vous donne le pêche. Du bonheur à l’état pur! Pas un tome ne m’a déçu, ‘est une véritable réussite pour moi. Et surtout un énorme coup de coeur. Il va falloir que je me mette à jour dans l’anime pour encore plus de bonheur!

Dans ce treizième tome, on retrouve nos élèves lors du premier jour du Festival des récoltes. L’épreuve de survie où les élèves de première année de Babyls doivent récolter un maximum de points dans la jungle. Presque toute la classe anormale domine la partie, grâce à l’entraînement particulier, chacun engrangeant des points par des méthodes distinctes.. Sauf Iruma et Lied qui pique-niquent tranquillement..

Qu’est ce que j’ai ris encore une fois pendant ma lecture! Dans le tome précédent, on voit Iruma manger tranquillement et on se demande pourquoi il fait ça. Ici on comprend mieux, c’est une stratégie comme une autre n’empêche qu’il va bien se faire avoir. Clara a bien changé pour le coup! Elle a tellement évolue et son entraînement a vraiment porter ses fruits! J’aime tellement ce personnage, je la trouve toute mignonne et elle est tellement adorable! L’épreuve de la récolte est une épreuve absolument géniale, j’aime beaucoup trop les voir user de ruses les plus ingénieuses les uns que les autres! On découvre d’autres personnages au passage comme par exemple les frères Goudron, qui m’ont beaucoup fait rire d’ailleurs pour le coup. Je suis impatiente de découvrir la suite de cette épreuve, ça s’annonce tout simplement génial!

Sans surprise, c’est encore un tome haut en couleur qu’on a ici! De nouveaux personnages font leur apparition et quels personnages! J’ai encore une fois beaucoup ri pendant ma lecture. J’adore suivre cette épreuve, je trouve que c’est palpitant de les voir user de ruses les uns sur les autres. Je me demande vraiment qui va finir par gagner cette épreuve, je suis sûre que ça va être surprenant! Il me tarde de me plonger dans la suite!

Harvest Festival arc still going strong, really like that I get to know more about everyone in misfit class, and their crazy training from their crazy mentor, and how they used what they've learned from that training in this festival, and how their mentors bragging in front of other mentors, and it's soooo fun and funny, lots of funny stuff here, I wished more of Iruma's story though, I know I will get it on the next volume, but still a little bit let down because there's not much of it in this volume.
Overall, it's an entertaining lots of laughter read.

We see more flashbacks to Misfit's class training as we see how Asmodeus and Sabnock get in their first major fight. We also learn a little more about some of the tutors as we see the tutors begin arguing about why their student will most likely win. We also see flashbacks about how the tutors won their own harvest festivals.

I'm telling you I'm an Iruma and Clara shipper all the way! One of my favorite canon things in this series is the mistaken identity/miscommunication regarding Azz and Sabro's training master LOL, always a good laugh.
