Broken Court #3

Dark Fae Unrivaled

Rate this book
It’s time to put fear aside and finish what I started.

Nearly dying isn’t something I ever want to experience again. Neither is being overcome with dark magic, but I couldn’t deny its strength is just what I need to finally kill King Zephyr.

Except nobody else around me thinks the same.

I have a choice to make. One that isn’t just about me anymore. For the first time in my life, I have something to lose: friends, and most importantly, a mate. One who’s become so much more than the task I first begrudgingly accepted.

No matter which course I choose, it comes with risks—ones filled with emotions I’d done my best to avoid for most of my life. It’s time to see who’s going to come out on top and who I’ll be when it’s all over…

The hero, or the monster the king always wanted.

*** This is the final book in the Broken Court Series, but if you want to catch up with Lucinda and Finn, check out Luna Marked next which follows a wolf shifter pack, you’ll see some old friends along the way! ***

Oh how I love Lucy! This book was everything that I was wishing for and so much more! So many monumental events have taken place throughout this trilogy that from beginning to end, it's almost as if Lucinda is two different beings, and she's not the only character who beautifully grows into their potential! This is a journey for so many of them. And it's been simply marvelous to lose myself amongst the Fae Islands and its inhabitants.

The bond between Lucinda and Finn grows deeper. It's both heartwarming and utterly delicious to see them finally fall for each other.  The tender feelings and protective vibes just flow off Finn and it makes me all girly gag gag over him.

Neva is spectacular! She morphs into this stunning creature who is self-assured and that's not the elf we first meet at all. Her history is so intriguing and begging to be explored further.

The epilogue is perhaps my favorite of all time! We see healing,  acceptance, forgiveness and love.  So much love! And it makes me a little teary-eyed just reflecting upon it. But who didn't know that Lucinda was capable of  being so much more!?

If you want a fae series with witty females who can kick a lotta butt and broody alpha males who'd do anything for those they love,  pick this unputdownable series up! This anti-heroine and her friends will keep you captivated! This trilogy is one that you won't soon forget!

Somewhere along the way, I’d forgotten who I was. Forgotten the woman inside me that I needed to love first before anything else. She was scarred, but she was worthy. That’s who I was. Scarred yet worthy. The world would not beat me. Fear would not dictate my happiness. The king would not rule me. I was Lucinda Morrow, and I was in control of my destiny.

Okay I feel a little bit better and in control of my emotions now.

Wow that was a brilliant ride.

I really can’t say much.

Lucinda fights her final battles. People die and fight. Darkness takes over as Lucinda gets closer to her goals. Ending the Fae king once and for all.

I have a few points to make though. For one, the book would be better it if the plot had time to make things sizzle with tension. Believe me, I felt all of it. Really I did.

But it would have been so much better if the plot could actually build that suspense and tension. As Lucinda faces her destiny and all, the fight really could feel frightening and “edge of your seat” nail biting type of reading.

And yes we did get that. And despite the cliche/ cheesy ending that usually graces books like these, I still loved it. Okay maybe I am a little buzzed about the ending, but what can I say? I still loved it all.

Holy sweet baby Fae! That. That was just beautiful and perfect. That is exactly how you wrap up a world. My heart may have been broken at times, but you certainly knew how to piece it back together. There was just something so beautiful and incredible with how you tied up Lucinda's story.

But holy damn...

There was something about Lucinda's growth and story that truly touched my heart. I just loved how easily she was to relate and connect to. I was so moved and absolutely, without question, loved how she eventually came to accept and love herself...and from finding herself worthy, she was able to finally let all that love into her heart...this was the moment she truly opened herself to love and care for others. So beautiful and perfect. That is the word I keep coming back to, with this story...but it's the best I can think of to express my feelings on this.

You guys are going to absolutely love the final instalment of this series! I cannot express this enough. There is literally nothing I can think of that would make this book any better. I loved the characters and their growth individually and as a group...and to see how they all pulled together to take down their common enemy. The King. It's time for a new era to fall on the Fae world. One where it is no longer controlled by a King...who is nothing more than an evil, power-hungry man, who is willing to do just about anything to keep that power. But when someone now has something worth fighting for...they will only fight that much harder to keep what they love. Zephy your rein has just come to an end...

The King may have broken down Lucinda, but she's about to find who she really is...and that person is truly something else. It's time to embrace your true self Lucy.

The king might have tainted your greatness at one time, but he no longer has control over you. Find who you are and embrace it.”...
...“You’re not broken, Lucinda. You’re powerful and spirited. You will get through this and find yourself, but in order to be born anew, you have to accept all of who you are. You have hidden behind the horrors of your past, using it as an armor. If you wish to move beyond all of that, then you must forgive yourself for the things you’ve done. Accept that you are a good person with pure intentions. Accept that you are worthy of the devotion your mate provides you.”

Okay, quick summary. Coz I'm not really sure what to say without spoiling the ending lol. But let me give it a go. The darkness's control is at full force, within Lucinda, at the beginning of this book...and I mean crazily so - (think like hulk levels loss of control haha - this will be even funnier once you've read the book lol). She's prepared to go and finally take the King down once and for all. But...well, her friends and those around her definitely do not agree with this. So it's time for Lucinda to make a choice. A choice that will change everything. She needs to let her anger go and make a decision that's best for everyone. It's time for her to evolve and think about those she has slowly begun to open her heart to. Her mate and friends have slowly broken down her walls, and by doing so, we get to witness a truly beautiful sight. But any path chosen comes with a truckload of risks...and with that, emotions she is not quite sure how to deal with. After all, letting herself truly feel, is something she has never really let herself do.

But the moment we have all been waiting for has arrived. The time to see who will come out on top. The coward King or Lucinda, the one the King made to rain destruction on his enemies? It's all come down to this moment. Zephy may have just underestimated Lucinda, her power and her will to survive it all...And boy is it quite the ride.

You didn't think I could leave without mentioning the total swoon worthiness of Finnigan right? This guy is like total mate worthy material, am I right?! Of course, I am. Be prepared to be swept away in the most heart-melting of ways. I am in love with this guy...and the way he is with Lucinda. Sigh. He's amazing. And so very patient. *swoons*...let me give you a little sneaksie peek. 😁😍

Finn cradled my face in his hands, his silver eyes softening. “You have no idea how I see you. How much I admire your strength, and how little it matters to me if you’re still bloodthirsty or not.” One palm moved to cover my chest. “As long as your heart still beats, you’re mine. All of you, no matter how you change.”
And that was my undoing.

I also cannot end my ramble without mentioning...two of my favourite characters. Neva and Ivy. Something just truly made me gravitate towards these two girls. I just love them and their quiet strength and power. I really hope that we might get to see more of these kick-butt girls, in the future. So Heather if you are reading this...

Eeek. I just cannot express how much I want you guys to read this book! Heather has done an absolutely incredible job with this series...and you have to read it. It's a must.

I don't know much more that I can say to convince you, but trust me on this one. It's a story you need in your life. It's unique and, honestly, really stood out to me...I loved the message that was delivered throughout these books. It really added something more for me. Just brilliant work Heather! I take my hat off to you and your amazing work.

As always, thank you lovely for providing this ARC in place for an honest review...and here it is. I speak only the truth.

Who's excited for the final instalment of the Broken Court series? Make sure you've preordered this book baby, so that you are prepared for when it drops, on the 21st January. You can find it here on Amazon - Dark Fae Unrivaled. Believe me, you don't want to miss it. It was truly incredible.

May your book-hangover, not be as terrible as mine. Ugh. It's been a little hard to move on to my next read. But I am super excited to know that there is a spin-off in the works in the same world as Broken Court! So I'm like soooo ready for that. I may just be part of the beta team for it....but I won't say more coz...

Well, I think by this stage I should've gotten my thoughts and point across lol...and if not...well dang

I'd love to hear back from you guys on your thoughts...so be sure to leave me a comment below so we can chat more. 😀

Well, I think I've rambled enough for one day. So I'm gonna call it.

This book finished up the trilogy extremely well. Everything was wrapped up, with some surprises, some sadness, some happiness and the bonus chapters and short story completed them.
Lucy has changed so much since book 1, from being dark and unfriendly to different with friends and family. The growth in her personality was wonderful to see as well as her bond with Finn and friendships with Neva, Ivy and others.
There was action, humour, the great characters and story.
This book took me less than 3 hours to read and I loved every second. It is well worth the read. I am now going to read the next series and am sure I will be just as happy as I was with this one.

What a phenomenal ending to an incredible series!! The story line progressed perfectly from one book to another and did not disappoint in the slightest. Lucinda was an amazing character who you grew to love and root for. I can’t wait until we have more stories in the future with these amazing characters.

Fast paced, action packed and filled with epic battles!

The world building was awesome; I enjoyed the idea of the different islands in the fae realm and the different types of fae. Lucy’s story was tied up well within this book, the most emotional book in this series, with a few loose ends that also left room for further books in this world.

Lucy was an intriguing, snarky MC with a mind built for strategy with no filter, and a heart wrapped in ice that’s just beginning to thaw. Her journey towards inner peace and acceptance, moving towards healing from her past was inspiring.

Finn was well written to balance Lucy, I adored when his ‘alpha male’ side came out to play, and Neva was just a beautiful and engaging character who I would love to see more of! There was so many amazing side characters that I would love to read more about, especially Victor! *waggles eyebrows*

After how much I absolutely loved the second book, this conclusion just fell a little short for me, feeling a little bit rushed in places; I would’ve liked to have seen more detail going into and planning for the battle with Zephyr. Also that more elements of the story were explored in a bit more depth, such as the feathered fae and Yuri, but fingers crossed that could happen with the next books in this world!

If you love Fae and creatures alike, an anti-hero, badass female MC and broody males, this series is for you!

4.5 stars. This was a great ending to the trilogy! We see a ton of growth in Lucy as she continues to struggle to accept and embrace her emotions and care for those around her. Though that’s not quite the case with Finn, their bond from book 2 is solid, and remains that way as an anchor for her throughout the book. There are some really great action sequences, and we get the fun of Lucy messing with Maeve again, love it when she calls her by every “M” name except her actual one just to annoy her. We also get some big reveal and growth with Neva. I love how her character came out of her shell and I’m very curious about her home and how she is with her friends and family. I bet that would be a fun and interesting story to tell. Of course for the trilogy there is a HEA, and it’s quite satisfying, wrapping things up tidily, but not overly so. There are more stories to come from this universe, and I’m looking forward to some new adventures!

Thank you to the author for the ARC! I really enjoyed the trilogy and was excited to get a chance to be an early reviewer.

What to even say about the finale to this amazing series. I absolutely love it and it has been an absolute JOY to read this year. I know I have said this a million times but I LOVE LUCY. She’s was such an enigma when this series began but she has grown so much in this series and you just see the amazing Fae she was always going to be. She still is the snarky ball buster you love but she is now has a caring side to her that she always hid.

I also want to say all the side characters in this series are a delight. There is not a one I hate and I absolutely hope that Heather Renee will continue this world and characters.

This finale had everything you could want fighting, steamy scenes and love but I will tell you my heart did hurt after I finished the book. So make sure you have tissues ready. The ride will be wonderful!

Let me say that I loved the progression of this series. Watching Lucinda's development into the character I hoped she was going to become was a huge relief as a reader. Despite being to heroine of the story had the opportunity to be unlikeable. Heather did a fantastic job of moving Lucinda forward in not only her personal trials, which can be seen as the entire purpose of the story, but also in the trials of those she surrounds herself with.

Hands down most favorite part that warmed my heart and made my nose tingle a little was with Maia, Mother Tree. I breathed a huge sigh of relief after that scene.

I NEED a story for Neva and Ivy and geez can someone give a girl a clue about the Wolf!?

As a new reader to the world's of Heather Renee I can honestly say that I will be diving into her other stories with a confidence of knowing I'll get quality.

😍 P. E. R. F. E. C. T. 😍

Love, love, love this series finale so much!!! 🤗
Lucinda's growth is amazing and so touching, love to read the wonderful woman she became by the end of her journey, stronger, more confident, open to be loved and to love and happy, finally happy!!! 😭🥰
Finn, oh my hot alpha male, he changed too becoming even hotter (what can I say, #heismyman 😁), but what I like the most is that he respects Lucy's independence and trust her... But he can also be a caveman sometimes, which I love!!! 🤤🔥🔥🔥
Neva, wow!!!, what a surprise, she was already a bada** but now, wow!!!... Here is hoping we can read more about her 💖
I also really like all side characters and would love to see them around, maybe in the next series in this world 😉
💜 This series is a MUST read!!! 🖤

Less in love with the main character but still good

I wasn’t as in love with this book as the other two. The main character didn’t do as much growing up as I hoped and was still a very big smart ass who has a hard time trusting others and seeing a bigger picture. I honestly struggled through the first 70% because I seemed to dislike her so much more in this book than the other two. Finally the action heated up enough after 70% that the plot line and rest of the story went by quickly. I just felt a lot of the other parts were a bunch of prattling filler and sassy interactions that weren’t really needed. So I’ll give it a 3 maybe 3.25 star review. Interesting world, good ending wrap up, kinda irritating main character with Leone interesting side characters that didn’t get enough personality fleshed out to be overcoming enough for the main woman being a brat.

This was a fun book to read and to see all the character growth and development. The epilogue, well, a great wrap up.

Lucinda has changed a great deal through the series and... it all makes sense! As do the other character changes and growth for the others in this series. That is one of Author Renee's strong abilities as an author. When a character changes, readers can see how and why this happened. Huzzah!

The plotline and pacing were spot on and had a great deal of fun reading and wondering where things were going next. Hopefully there will be a return to this world and readers will get to see more of it through other characters' eyes.

I read an ARC of this book and have chosen to review it.

I would love a book with crossovers from each story

Some how I wish all the characters that I love from all the other series would meet up and have a showdown with a common enemy! I would love a book about Neva and about the tree boy! I loved Lucinda bc she was different and I believe most ppl have that side to them but they just don’t show it to others so outright! I wish the fight Sean with the king was a little more epic and had involved help from all the different characters she meet along the way. I am also very interested in getting to know victor better! Thanks for all the hours of freedom and enjoyment I have received from reading all your past series in the last month! Now I guess I am onto hunting down my next great book!

This is the final book in the Broken Court Series 💔 I devoured this series in a few days and my heart is not ready for it to be over. I totally could have used one more book. Lucinda's growth over the series was awesome and so fun to watch. She starts as a cynic and blossoms into a fun and caring person.
This one has a little more steam 😏
I love Finn and how protective he is of Lucy 💙
.
I love how the narrator keeps all the voices so consistent through the series! I knew exactly who was speaking at all times!
.
👉🏼 Quotes
"No time to waste when there's a tyrant to murder "
.
...he was still rocking the socks with sandles. "You couldn't even let your toes free while enjoying the island life?"
.
I was a new me. And I felt the power of being my true self rise to the surface.

Great way to wrap up a series. Don’t get me wrong there were still lots of trials and tribulations for Lucinda and the others and I was little nervous how it would end cause there was so much to be resolved but Heather didn’t disappoint!
There was fast pace action and lots of character development not just for Lucy but other characters too. I really love this world and even though I’m sad Lucy’s story is over I can’t wait to see what else Heather has in store for this world! ♥️
Such a good read you will not be disappointed!

Amazing!

What a ride. This series was a whirlwind of emotions. I loved every single minute of it. I think my favorite part of the series was watching Lucy evolve. She changed so much through this series from book one to three. She got knocked down plenty of times but she always got back up, even when she didn’t want to. This series was dark, gritty and filled with tension but it was also filled with laughter and love. This may be the end of Lucy and Finns story, but I know we have more coming in this world and I cannot wait for it!

What can I say about this book- knocked it out of the park.  Can not wait to see if Heather does another series in this land. Characters are all very strong, independent  yet works as a team so well. Full of snark from Lucinda. Finn is example of a great boyfriend - has your back yet respects things you need to do on your own. Both have changed since the first book. Neva surprised me with all her changes -closet bada## ! Everyone needs a Neva in their live. Just read the whole series - it does not disappoint.  Lots of twist and turns an of course cliffhangers

Great ending or is it?

Ok, Heather we absolutely need a spin-off for Neva. I really think maybe a spin-off of Ivy after Roman & Neva would be amazing. I want to see her get a happily ever after.I love the healing that happens in this book for Lucy. Actually the fact that Finn gets healed as well is amazing. I love what happens with the mother tree. I think Lucy was a little naive when she went to face Maeve. The same could be said for when she faces the king. I look forward to hearing more about Neva.

Lucinda and Finn took us on an epic ride. This was my favorite book of the series. I LOVE how Lucinda never played the damsel in distress, but she still showed emotion. Heather Renee's ability to show Lucy's growth without changing her personality was impressive. If you're looking for the heroine falling head over heels for the guy, this isn't the book or does for you, but the tension and HOTness is definitely there. Loved this series and how everything was wrapped up beautifully, even after a few shocking turns. Can't wait for the next series on this world!

So sad this series is ending!

I can't believe that Lucinda's story is over. There is plenty of action in this book. Lucinda and Finn are always on the move doing what they need to so they can defeat the king. There are new things we learn about Lucinda and that she learns about herself. There are some surprises about Neva that I hope we learn about in later books. These books are Fae-bulous and I can't wait to see more of this world.

Dark Fae Unrivaled was the perfect ending to Lucy and Finn’s story. The Broken Court trilogy has been my favorite Heather Renee series so far. The romance is sizzling hot without being cheesy. The world is so well fleshed out and the supporting cast of characters are fun and believable that you can’t help but fall in love with them. I’m sorry to see them go but can’t wait to see what Heather has in store for us next!

Loved it!

This story was great! So glad to know we don't have to say goodbye to Lucinda and you will be doing spinoffs. Yes, please give Neva's story the attention character deserves. Also, wouldn't mind Yuri and Mosi & Olinda's stories coming out. Really if their name was mentioned then I would love to know them.

Always nice to see the conclusion of whats been a great series and this had everything. Drama, angst, love, hate, epic battles and of course loss and grief but most of all the coming of age of several characters as they finally face not only their pasts but their own mortality and that of their own loved ones. Great finish to whats been a wonderful series

Great wrap up!

Well Lucy has sure come a long way and gone thru many changes. She gets her desires and dreams come true that she didn't know she wanted and needed. Definitely satisfying to see the end for some but this felt like new beginnings. Would love to read a Neva story and excited that this world will continue.

What a fun ride this trilogy has been.
I loved how it showed character growth for not only the main character but for the secondary characters as well! The final battle was great to read and the epilogue gave me all of the emotions! Such a great world, and complex characters that the author created.
The audiobook is fantastic. The narrator truly elevates the story for me. Highly recommend!!

Good read

A good finale told from the MFL who finally got her happily ever after. Plenty of action and romance but the last stand was somewhat emotional. I really hope Ivy finds her soulmate in a future story. The story was the main focus and not the romance. Loved the trilogy
Highly recommended.

Book 3 in Broken Court series

A magical-infused, action-packed fae fantasy romance that features a FMC with all the sass and a MMC who's frustratingly desirable. I truly enjoyed the overall storyline and all the emotions that it brings. Loved the redemption and sacrifice aspects in this final book.

What a fantastic end to this trilogy. Lucy makes it hard to love her, but watching her evolve throughout the series has been so much fun, and so rewarding. Fin, Ivy, Neva, and the rest have been the perfect compliment to Lucy. I have loved this series, and hope to get more in this world!
