All Amelia wants is a fresh start and an honest life running her new café – and maybe someone to share it with. But a clean break from the past isn’t so easy, especially when trouble keeps finding her. With constant supply problems and her café running in the red, her dream seems about to slip through her fingers.
When thieves break in to her business, two of Amelia’s hottest customers intervene. Dane and Forrest are regulars, and Amelia isn’t sure if they’re big fans of her coffee…or if both men just might be interested in her. They invite her to the biggest event of the year to meet their boss, Stephan Moriarty: tech mogul, richest man in the city, and most eligible bachelor. It isn’t long before Amelia finds herself embroiled with this group of powerful men who seem to have secrets of their own.
But secrets have a way of catching up with you. Soon, Amelia’s past and the dangerous life her new admirers lead converges, and Amelia is caught in the middle. Four men are after her heart, and someone wants her business destroyed - maybe her life along with it. Protective, sexy, and dangerous men are after her, and if she isn't careful, her heart will be theirs.
This is a full-length light contemporary reverse harem mafia romance.
Well the title pretty much gives away what Amelia doesn’t catch onto. I suck at names so one Café owner with a past, four guys (nicknames) Cracker, Flowers, Jackal and Ox. Plus their boss Stephen watching over them. Given the setting, its a really light reverse harem. A little sex but not that graphic. It’s definitely quirky with one thing happening after the other between dates and the guys learning its them that don’t know what they’re getting themselves into. Amelia was a surprising character and not a damsel in distress. A little out there but for my first book of the year that isn’t a re-read, it was a good one.

Awww, this was a cute and quick read! I enjoyed the MFC and her heroes.. I don't really have any complaints besides a few inconsistency within the storyline but not enough to make me annoyed or irritated.
So with that being said I see there is a second book available for this little series that I'm happy to go off to read now. Bye for now and Happy Reading! 😘
Overall Rating: 4* ~ A Good Read
Just finished re-reading this book for a 2nd time (5/17/23) and my 1st rating of this book is still the same for the same reasons as before.
Main woman lead goes from struggling resturaunt owner, to victim of gang attacks to secretly trained badass driver and fighter....to mobsters girlfriend....poorly written as time jumps around from one scene to the next and back in 3 sentences. Felt like a high school students attempt at writing erotica but too embarrassed to actually write it.
This book was dumb. It’s really hard to say that, it could’ve had so much potential but it just fell apart.
Fmc has worked so hard, so insanely hard to own this coffee shop, and it burns down and she’s not super phased by it because she would rather be a paper pusher and get paid to file documents. It doesn’t make sense- it doesn’t make sense for the personality line of things that this person who spent every cent and lifeblood, went into the business that is her passion, and then somehow being a secretary is her dream- cue the eye rolls- but also don’t worry because she’s a bad ass gunslinging driver so let’s add that little side spice to her personality repertoire .
Zero spice. It’s obvious that the author wants to be a romance writer but heavily relies on fade to black or a small blip here or there. There was no spice and then when there was a brief snippet of intimacy you had to stop yourself because you were so confused at the causalness of it all- it was a new encounter and the first time the author discussed penetration and it was so casually done it didn’t even seem like a thing and mind you there was no other descriptive information just a “he slipped it in” and that was as saucy as it got.
These were new authors to me, it’s safe to say I’m ok not reading anything they write again.
Dnf 35% Sigh. .. this is my second dnf in a row. The dialogue in this book was off. Like she said "let's blow this popsicle stand and then the male character laughed out loud uncontrollably because it was so funny". Did I miss something?? If this was a one off it might have been forgiven, but there were like three instances in the 35% I read. Just not believable dialogue, at all.
Amelia is trying to keep her cafe afloat. The one bright spot it the two hot guys who come in and chat with her. One asks her out and her whole world is turned upside down. I liked Amelia in the beginning, but by the end I was loving her snarky, fierce attitude. She has secrets that come out. I do feel like there were a couple minor inconsistencies in her thoughts about herself from the first half to the last. But it’s a fast paced story and I was wrapped up in the flow. The guys are hot - I really want to see more of Shea and Stephan. I can’t wait for book 2!
Five stars, absolutely recommend for a fun RH read.
Holy wow, I NEED MORE!
Amelia is just an average woman trying to make it in the world, both with her business and in dating, when soon enough, she finds herself surrounded by several suitors, each of whom I absolutely loved! All of the men where smitten with Amelia, perfect for an RH story, and with how much I enjoyed it, I couldn’t stop myself from binging it in a day. I laughed, I gasped, and I fell head over heels in love for all of the characters of Accidental Mobster and I can’t wait to see what else Daisy has in store for book 2!!
Ridiculous premise, awkward writing style, sad attempts at humor, and no well-developed characters. I hate not finishing a book, so I forced myself through it, but I won't be reading anything else by these authors.
Why did you read this book? I was craving RH romance-type books, this one seemed interesting, and it had good ratings.
What format did you read this book in? Read it as an eBook on Kindle.
Is this an educational book or a book for entertainment? I read this book for pure entertainment purposes.
What genres do you think this book belongs to? Contemporary, Crime, Romance
What was your favorite part of the book? My favorite part is the hospital scene where the FL is being kidnapped. She is talking smack and trying to keep her gown closed. It was hilarious.
Who would you suggest this book to? Anyone who likes light drama, mobsters, reverse harems, and action.
What is your general opinion/ rating of this book? I felt like I was reading one story in the beginning, and then the author switched it in the middle. The FL was all over the place. At first, she wants to keep her business going, but then wants to ditch it for office work?! Why not do that in the first place? The FL reasoning didn’t make sense. It is so much easier to get an office job than to start your own business. Supposedly, the FL had all this training so she wouldn’t be a victim again, but we get NO hint of that at the beginning of the book. The FL and the love interests get attacked, and then the FL becomes an action-movie badass all of a sudden. Supposedly, Stephan is some scary mobster boss, but for some reason, he let go of the fact that a rival attacked his territory several times? I guess the author needed to add drama, and if Stephen took care of things too quickly, then there would be none. Overall, I think this story had potential, but it was too all over the place. It seemed like the author was writing one story in the beginning, then changed her mind and changed it completely halfway through. Although, I did appreciate the lack of heavy drama despite some dark themes.
How intense are the intimacy scenes? Not very detailed. One intimacy scene with some foreplay scenes.
At what “burn” level is the romance? Slow-medium burn.
Love interests, how many of them are there and what gender? There are 5 love interests, all of them male, and criminals. Dane- One of the guys who first met the FL. Forrest- One of the guys who first met the FL and is ex-military. Shea- Ex military and works as part of the muscle. Arcadio- Works security and is also part of the muscle. Stephan- I added him as part of the love interest even though he is said to be A-sexual.

This reverse harem romance was cute, although nothing like I was expecting. It was a refreshingly light hearted read considering the subject matter.
For a "mobster" story I was honestly anticipated there being more...I don't know, blood or criminal activity. These mobsters seemed extremely "soft" for supposedly being hardened criminals in my opinion. There was a lot of sexual tension (flirting), which was great, but not a great deal of heat (sexy times). The one sex scene I recall was pretty bland - totally seemed like a wham, bam, thank you ma'am kind of thing. It was also without any real substance ...he was just suddenly inside her without foreplay and she was orgasming within two strokes, which was unbelievable in and of itself. It actually made me roll my eyes. The whole encounter was over quickly, so while that could be considered realistic in a sense - it wasn't what I would consider a sexy encounter by any means.
I did like how sassy the MFC was, and the conflicts they encounter were definitely entertaining.
The antagonist was just mediocre for me. It probably would have helped to have foreshadowing or a flashback nightmare to actually put the antagonist on the playing board. His introduction to the story was a little out of left field for me.
Feedback for book 2:
Stephen.
I'm equally intrigued and confused by his character. I know someone stated that he is "asexual" and he, himself, admitted he "doesn't understaning the desire to be in a relationship." I'm a little unsure how that translates in this story. He's been very aloft so far. I can't seem to relate to him. Is he included in the relationship, or is he a bystander? Is this asexual situation supposed to be like the planets orbiting around the sun, with the sun being stationary? By definition: he's supposed to not feel sexual desire for anyone...is he like impotent or can he still perform? Does he still have romantic feelings despite not being able/wanting to be sexual with them? What about his need for companionship and intimacy? I keep trying to envision him and the MFC as an "elderly couple" you know when its more about companionship then sex.
He's like an onion, I want to peel back his layers and understand him and figure out how he fits into this group dynamic. In the second book I'd also like to see him be more involved if he's suppose to be included. Everyone else seems to have had one on one time with the MFC. I'd like to see just the two of them in an intimate scene (move night and cuddles or something along those lines). Something similar to how friends would behave; where sex isn't an objective - companionship is. I feel like he has that with the guys already but not the MFC so much.

Amelia is a struggling business owner, she doesn’t let that deter her. Two men have taken a liking to her, which then extend to dates. Then she is invited to an upscale party, which has her quite out of place , but she doesn’t let that deter her. Dane, Forrest, Stephan, Shea and Arcadio, five men, family, business associates, that take care of there own, and that includes Amelia. But someone is out hurt Amelia, for reasons unknown to all the men, through a bet she takes a job working for Stephan, through a background check he learns about Amelia, but she comes clean about her past, and sharing that past with her men, who accept her for who she is. Amelia’s life is put in danger and she finds out the hard way that all her men are protective and possessive of her, and if she does anything wrong she finds out the hard way that there a consequences. Dane, Forrest, Stephan, Shea and Arcadio come clean to Amelia about what it is they do, she is shocked at first, but accepts them for who they are, becoming an accidental mobsteress. But when Amelia unexpectedly reveals a connection that she had with another mobster where she lived previously, they are shocked at her admission. And when an attack at work lands her in hospital, then neing kidnapped, becoming a bargaining chip, she begins to understand how far her guys will go for her. Amelia has become apart of there family, and they do everything in there power to ensure that she can defend and protect herself. Amelia develops a relationship with Dane, Forrest, Stephan, Shea and Arcadio, they are all open and honest with Amelia about there intentions around polyamorous relationships, and have made there intentions clear that they want her. This story has it all romance, madness, mayhem, revenge, violence, laughter, suspense, twists and truths. I enjoyed this story, this author definitely knows how to write. Of all the reverse harem genres I’ve read, this was light and airy, with a side of flirtatious s*x and innuendo that had her guys quirking there eyebrows at her every so often, her determination with her getting her own way with her handsome, devilishly good looking men.
I over all enjoyed where the book ended up, and the character development but I downgraded a star coz the characters backgrounds are so realistic that it broke through any suspension of disbelief. Amelia wants to own a coffee shop that basically runs itself and makes a bit of profit, so she can work as a secretary or do database entry work. Wtf? It's highly unrealistic that someone who had invested all this time and effort into scraping together money to open a small business would then just leave it to run itself. Then on the tech mogul side, making billions isn't enough - they also have to open houses for sex work, run by sex workers and a marijuana distribution business? Because making billions of dollars is enough money and they don't have enough to do running that company. Maybe if there was some passion or motivation, like my sister was forced into sex work and I'm trying to revolutionize the industry by making it safer... But nope. No reason. 🙄🙄🙄 Also in the beginning, the love interests went from interest to I MUST HAVE YOU pretty fast. It later comes out that it was actually over the course of months, but definitely felt rushed and unrealistic at the beginning.
Things that I enjoyed: the men were sweethearts, Amelia had wasn't a total pushover, had some good moments of snark and logical thinking and absolute badassery, wasn't afraid to ask for help, no huge (boring, overdone and trite) betrayal plot twists because SEKRITS.
It was a fun read, despite getting knocked out of my bubble of suspended disbelief by my massive amounts of eye rolling. If there were half stars, this would be at a 2.5.

This is a very standard plot but it is an enjoyable read. My main complaint with the book was lack of physical characterization and plot inconsistencies. I could not tell you what the FL looks like or any of them men except for probably a singular feature. FL has smallish boobs, Stephen has a scar and is handsome, Jackal is short and handsome, Ox is huge and handsome… you get it.
The plot inconsistencies were annoying more than anything. First they say the FL has a bachelors then later she says she never finished school because it was not for her. She has a relatively pleasant interaction with a model and although the model did state her intention to pursue someone in a somewhat dismissive tone the FL didn’t react at all and left quickly. Later it was spun that she “put that snippy model in her place”. Other small things like saying she plays video games regularly in one line to that she hasn’t played in years in another.
Also I can forgive a girl getting into a poly relationship with a mob family but the portrayal of her owning a cafe was WILD. Like from taking temporary often part time jobs for ten years she was able to purchase a business with no mention of debt. She also despite having hefty issues is able to leave for a full week. Most small business owners don’t even take salary let alone step away for days. Especially not in the first few years!
Also realizing I have no clue how old anyone is? I thought FL was late twenties and MLS maybe 30s?
Reading the next book but wouldn’t necessarily recommend this to others unless they specifically asked for “RH with the mob but not dark”.
This was cute but could have used so much editing. There’s far too many “he said” “she said” exchanges, needless scenes that added nothing to the plot such as her going to pee while kidnapped – or weirder yet, how the kidnappers took such care of not jostling her IV despite fully planning to kill her -- and something that I find personally odd and inconsistent for a reverse harem: Dane’s sex scene was fade-to-black but not Arcadio’s? And how come the other two don’t get a bed scene?
There’s a few more things I didn’t care for – her past with Bruce, for example, felt oddly forced. But this is a book where a mob boss and his men have never killed anyone, so whatever. That said, if the author felt like adding an asexual character to her cast she should have done some basic research, which would have made her realize someone can be asexual but still want a romantic relationship. Stephan’s claim that he doesn’t share or understand the need for a relationship points to him being aromantic. He can certainly be both, but just ‘asexual’ does not fit. This, however, is a personal peeve of mine. His preferences do not affect his character or the plot in any way beyond making that one line come off a worthy of an eye-roll.
This is the first Catherine Banks/Daisy Emory book I read and, while it doesn’t make me excited to catch up with her entire body of work, it did not put me off checking out future releases. I just hope they go through some sort of editor first.

This book had me rolling with laughter, rooting for the hero’s, and slightly begging for more steaminess. Would recommend this book more for the story building, and less on the steaminess of the romance.
Watching the world be built was a different spin on how you suddenly are a mob boss’s sister-in-law. Now the relationship between the boss and main girl was kinda of a let down, but I totally think I understand the character and why he just doesn’t want a relationship. The main guys however I wanted more time with Shea. I felt like he didn’t get a lot of love. Dane is just funny, while Arcadio makes me swoon. Forrest is just this mix of Dane and Arcardio that I felt was just a lead up.
I will say this the story gets 3 stars, but the over all romance scene where less to be desired. I turned the page, and they were over. All this sexual tension build up to be written in one short paragraph was really a let down. This is more a beginner romance novel for new readers.
Also note there is a typo error in one of the chapters of when they go to the grocery store together. It should say they she is with Arcardio and not Shea, because later in the scene the author writes that she meets Shea and Forrest down the aisle with Shea. Which I had to make sense of that first and had to go back and re-read it.
I freaking loved and devoured this book! It was such a unique take on the whole mobster vibe and genre!
Meet FMC Amelia, she is from a small town, her mother is in polyamory relationship so Amelia is fine with multiple males, she owns a small cafe, and later on in the book you find out she is a complete badass!
Meet her mobster males! Forrest, Dane, Shea, and Arcadio! I really hope Stephan, the boss, will be added to her harem later.
I loved how quirky Amelia was! She was so cute and sweet and hilarious, her personality was complete opposite of her males. The males were all sexy and yummy individuals, but you read between the lines they carry a little darkness. And I think that is why the love and pursue Amelia.
Her males really cared and were very protective of their girl. I don’t know how old the characters are, but I think Amelia was around mid to late 20s, but she acted younger. I did wish for more romance though. It was a slow/mid burn RH
I did find a couple of errors and typos, but not enough to be annoying. Once I figured out their is a second book I immediately wanted to read the book! But it doesn’t come out until 2022 :(
Seriously recommend this laugh out loud, quirky, unique book about mobster and their lady! It is not a dark book, not like other mafia books that I have read.
God, this book was adorable! The way they reacted to her shooting and fighting had me dying. I love how soft all five of them are for her and the relationships she's building in the family are so fun to read!
I was dying for a little more spice, but they're all so ridiculous together I don't even really mind the lack of spice. It's so cute how they all razz each other and each gave Amelia their own silly nickname. The nicknames were really fun, though I wasn't super into Dane's. There's a historical connotation there that took me out of the story whenever his nickname was brought up.
Finally reading an ace character was great too! I thought I'd be disappointed that Stephan wasn't included in the relationship, but I'm honestly glad that he's not. I love him as the somewhat doting patriarch figure and I love the totally platonic dynamic that they have going. All her men fit so well with her and it's really fun to read how their relationships are growing. I'm so intrigued about where Amelia's misadventures are going to take the family next!
Did I read the same book all these other reviewers read? I made it 50% and had to stop. I get wanting a light and fluffy read every now and then, but light just means in terms of the severity of the books conflict. Like nothing is life or death, there's no gore or dark content matter, you don't have to worry about tw etc. Light does not mean 'this book is as shallow as a puddle and written like a script with only stage direction and dialogue'. Even the dialogue was off, it wasn't how people really speak. Full complete, grammatically correct sentences with no contractions. That's just not realistic.
It also wasn't very descriptive, go read the first several pages the only things described are the hair and eye color of two of the characters, that's it. Nothing about the setting or how the main character feels really it's just very elementary.
One wild ride! Buckle up and prepare yourself to meet Amelia and her men! This was absolutely unputdownable! I couldn't devour these pages quickly enough!
These mobsters have their perfect mobsterina! She's quirky and self depreciating. She has secret skills that constantly impress her harem. This has twists and turns and had me smiling and smirking throughout most of it.
I really liked the guys in this. They were total alphas but not pushy unless absolutely necessary. They were patient and took the time to individually build relationships with Amelia. They talked about their feelings and that was super ah-mazing.
This ends with the reader wanting more! If you like modern day love with the excitement of a RH and a unique writing style, pick this beauty up! It's delicious and delightful!
I thought the story was going to be funny but it only really made me slightly smile at some of the antics of the lass. This might be billed as a reverse harem but I think she only has sex with two of the 4 or 5 guys separately. I say 4or5 because the boss is well caring for her but he's supposed to be asexual... The other four are her guys but they spend more time escaping attacks than together dating. I liked the action and escaping attacks part of the story but they should have had a group play or overnight visit... I guess this was a more 5 guys individually dating the same girl reverse harem... It was trying too hard to be funny and kinda came off not really believable or just too silly to believe. It was an ok read and might be good for teens except not sure the content is great for under18s.
I honestly don't know how to review this. It's both awful and funny. The Moriarty mafia is not in any way a mafia you would fear. They don't kill! Until they do of course but honestly there is so much absurdity in this I figure it has to be intentional.
I have no interest in reading further, but this is a genuinely silly read. If you don't mind every single thing being utterly unrealistic you will probably enjoy it. I did laugh quite a few times. So much that I assumed it had to be deliberate. But honestly, I can't say it's a good book.
The FMC has so many different identities that it's hard to keep track. The idea of the woman at the beginning of the book being a secret badass is absurd. So really, she is just a different person by the end. She has her funny moments though and by the end is pretty irreverent.
Still, it's very inconsistent but I alost think that adds to the funny!
Siiiiiigh. This wasn't terrible but it wasn't great either. All the characters felt super one-dimensional. The romance felt forced and like it came literally out of nowhere from page one, though apparently two of the four guys had been coming to her coffeeshop for months, we got none of that initial interaction time. The plot felt rushed. The "spice" was practically nonexistent or FTB or happened in a two-sentence interaction so I'm sure it's for someone, just not this girl. I'm sad, to be honest, because the premise and the setup help a lot of promise and some of the dialogue and character interaction was funny, but the full execution and overall book just left too much to be desired. Maybe more development happens in later books, but seeing as this one was free and the others aren't on KU, I doubt I'll continue.
While this story wasn’t my cup of tea I did enjoy it and loved stepping into Amelia’s shoes. Amelia’s story definitely has many different facets underneath her innocence cheery exterior which I would have like to better understand. I enjoyed her witty and sometimes-outdated-quirky bursts that made me fall harder for her. However, I think the feeling of disconnected from her sexy harem threw me off. OX and Jackal’s background, personalities, and charisma were hard to differentiate which is something that prefer in my rh.
I do wish this author nothing but success and look forward to coming back to her work one day to finish the series and see what awaits Amelia’s journey with her harem.
3.5 stars. A fluffier read for sure. It’s a sweet start to the relationship as Dane and Forrest routinely frequent her cafe for their early morning coffee. Amelia is pretty clueless about the mafia involvement. She gets to know all of the guys and starts building separate and group relationships. The betting aspect was interesting.
I didn’t really like all of the closet bad-assery from Amelia. She was a bit of a sad sack making it on her own then 3/4 thru the book she’s got mad ninja skills which came out of nowhere. Not a deal breaker but just didn’t fit in with the “I’m normal” vibes at the beginning.
The story had a lot of potential a cute bakery owner that has caught the eye of 4 sexy men. But then we find the bakery trope isn’t as true. There are so many plot bunnies that it made the story very confusing. There were so many different things that came up, it took away from the over all story. I think the character development suffered from the author wanting to cram too many plot ideas into one story. There was a lot of interesting moments but overall less would have been more with this story.
Okay, this wasn’t bad. It definitely had some fun and quirky moments, and I enjoyed all the banter between the characters. The first part of the book was really enjoyable, and I liked the whole concept of mobsters falling for the cute girl, making her a mobster a little by accident. But then the character building of Amelia started to not make a whole lot of sense, and I would have preferred it if she just stayed the cute innocent girl she was at the start… A big plus though, is the asexual character; definitely loved that!
This is a real fun read. It’s fast paced and the relationships happen quickly, but that was just what I was looking for. The dialog can be a bit cheesy, but I don’t mind it. Also, I am used to more “open door” romance, and while there were a couple of scenes, they were vague. I didn’t mind that either, as long as I know going into it (so here’s your notice, lol). Overall I enjoyed myself and I would read again. I also look forward to reading the next book. 5⭐️ 1.5🌶️
So the first half of this book was annoying because the fmc was so naive and childish like. Then all of the sudden she's this bad a** which I really liked her character then but it was totally unbelievable to flip the switch like that. It's a good storyline. Honestly though had I not liked the other mc's so much I would have probably gave a lower rating. Now with the second half being much better I will definitely read the next book.
