When Em moved back home for the summer she hoped to get away from the depression and anxiety that were eating away at her. She needed a change. What she didn't expect was to run into Abel, the boy who had left her heartbroken in high school, and this time to return the favor. Em fell hard for him but knew she couldn't love him fully while her life was in shambles, so she found the strength to leave and go back to New York and rebuild the pieces of her life. Back in New York, Em is determined to face her past for the first time in her life. Instead of hiding from her pain and anxiety, she's making new friends, trying new things, and seeing a therapist. Life is going well. The sadness and suffering don't feel suffocating anymore. Even so, she still feels like a piece is missing. When Em meets someone new, she tries to let go of her past. Her roots with Abel run deep and she's not sure if she's ready to close the door on her chance with him just yet. But a fresh start without any connection to her past is difficult to walk away from.
A new chapter in her life has begun, but when her world is turned upside down will she run away from it all or toward love?
