Natalie and Wyatt don’t like each other. In fact, it wouldn’t be a regular day at work if they weren’t shouting their heads off at each other. She’s all about the business; he’s all about coding. She thinks he’s condescending, smug, and never takes anything seriously. He thinks she’s unpredictable and uptight. So…it’s probably a disaster in the making to send them to on a business trip. Alone. To Sweden, of all places.
The three years they’ve worked together have been hell. But, when Wyatt accidentally sees a "private" picture of Natalie on her phone, it all falls apart. She’s obviously mortified that her archenemy has seen her without clothing. And just when she thinks she can avoid him forever, her boss decides to send them on a business trip. They can barely tolerate each other in New York; it’s doubtful they would like each other more in Europe. I mean, sure—there are nightclubs, hotel bars, and long-haul flights…but Natalie hates Wyatt. And he hates her too…
…Except, Wyatt can’t stop thinking about that picture. Who knew that under all that hostility, Natalie was hiding a body that makes him second guess everything about their three-year rivalry. Which would make him more of an idiot: sleeping with an enemy or sleeping with a coworker? And would sleeping with someone who is BOTHand while on a business trip make him the biggest idiot of all time? Well then, they both might just be a couple of idiots…
The Business Trip is a 42k word, standalone office/workplace romance novel about two sworn enemies who can only agree on one thing: that they want each other…badly. With hilarious dialogue, steamy encounters in the office and abroad, and delicious will-they-won’t-they tension, this novel has no cheating or cliffhangers. HEA guaranteed.
Rebecca Kinkade is a Mexican/Filipina-American contemporary romance author who writes competent leads who work hard and love harder. She currently lives in Los Angeles and assumes that makes her inherently interesting. She has a BA and an MBA and is 100% positive that the most valuable thing she got out of those experiences was content for her books.
What a lovely surprise. This book is so unassuming when it comes to the writing (or the cover), but the plot is realistic and plausible and I loved that the author knew her stuff. It was so refreshing to read a book where the author actually has a business knowledge when writing about business. Such a simple thing, right? Many authors underestimate it though and never do a basic research, which makes me always roll my eyes so hard... I loved that here it was not the case and the content came obviously from a real life experience which I found amazing.
I also liked that Wyatt and Natalie were just humans, with aspirations, some quirks and imperfections. And even though it is a short novel, they both gradually grew on me. The coworkers-to-sworn office enemies-to-lovers trope was executed so well, the conflict came across believable and the tension between them palpable. However, there was not enough time (or pages) for a deeper connection between them to become apparent, so I missed at least an epilogue or one more chapter because the ending seemed a bit abrupt. Nevertheless, it was a smexy quick read and a perfect office romance, that I truly enjoyed and I'm definitely gonna read more from this author in the future.
I tend to treat office romances as existing in a quasi-fantasy land, but this one actually felt quite realistic (but with 75% less office faff). I almost stopped reading in the first chapter because the IT project speak was a bit triggering. 🤣
The romance itself between Natalie and Wyatt was really lovely. They’re two colleagues who are passive aggressive in their interactions (like any self respecting office nemesis!), but an overseas business trip changes things. I really liked both characters — Natalie was relatable, and Wyatt was such a green flag but still had flaws. The way he was so excited when they finally got down to business made me giggle.
This was such a pleasant surprise, I’ll definitely be checking out other books by Rebecca Kinkade.
Like another reviewer stated, The Business Trip was an ode to the nude 💞 and I wholeheartedly agree 💞 with this!
The arguments between Natalia and Wyatt during the start of their enemies-to-lovers trope were low-key entertaining to read because of how realistic they felt 🤣
But after accidentally seeing nude pictures of each other right before a business trip ??? God. Dayum!
I need to read everything by Rebecca Kinkade as soon as possible 🥵

- 4.25 stars rounded all the way up to 5 stars because I simply enjoyed it so much
- okay I don’t know why I had such a good feeling about this author but as soon as I read the synopsis I really wanted to try it - So far I am really liking the writing, and I think it’s pretty clever they both think there was sabotage. AND the sabotage is actually reasonable, not stupid. - 26% hahahahha show me yours and I’ll show you mine. lol and he made her sign for it. - 56% okay that was pretty hot but omg no condom and no discussion about safety at all wow - Okay what the heck. That was SO good. Omg I can’t believe they both sacrificed for each other. He took the fall, and she wouldn’t let him turn down the job offer. - ugh but why was there no epilogue????? - Also lol the package he was offered from Google wasn’t even very good… $500k total comp? Are you kidding me lol. The author knows some tech, but definitely not tech salaries haha. That’s kinda mid for an engineer, especially since he’s supposed to be much higher up. Although… maybe it’s accurate for 2020 Google, but definitely not accurate for some other top tech companies in the Bay Area. - I really liked that she acknowledged that she was not straightforward and then told him the truth in the letter. - I never thought I’d say this, but I feel like the one missing sex scene was her going down on him. Where was it??? Haha. He went down on her multiple times! Steam was excellent otherwise, though. - There definitely could’ve been more getting to know each other, more intimacy/relationship developed. But given it was 170 pages, I think the author did a fantastic job. I can’t wait to see what a full length novel is like. - Anyways I’m so pleasantly surprised with this novella. Like I was SO hopeful and then told myself to temper my expectations because I’ve been let down so many times, but damn I was NOT let down and I’m 100% reading the rest of her backlist that I can. Looks like a lot of enemies to lovers, I’m excited. I’ll even try the billionaire ones, I’m that hopeful. - omg the bonus scene where the kid says they all speak English and understood him lol ✅ feels

This one was a nice surprise. I was this close to not read it because the title seemed a bit naff and from past experience, titles like these feature a well known predictable plot (which I love nevertheless) but terrible writing - that kind of writing that makes you wonder who in their right mind decided that that was worth publishing. However, to my surprise I was glad I hadn't turned this one down. I loved the business knowledge the author seems to have and that was reflected in the dialogues. Most of the time books feature these "billionaires" that talk like illiterate people and make you wonder how on earth they managed to make their millions being so dumb, right? Anyway, going back to this book... I loved the witty dialogue between the characters, the steamy scenes were WOW and I really liked the enemies to lovers transition. What would I have loved to see more of? Maybe it felt too short in a way and it would have been nice to see an epilogue or something to see more of how they do as a couple. Just a thought. There was an excerpt of another book by this author called "Public Rivalry" and seems exciting so looking forward to reading this one and more from this author.
ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A FUN, SMART, QUICK READ !!!!!!!????? READ THIS!!!!! I loved this story omg, the vibes were on point. Wyatt and Natalie were beefing bad 😂 throw in an accidental nakie pic and a little forced proximity business trip and chaos ensues. This book gave me many a laugh, because as we know Rebecca is funny AF. Even with all the funnies, you still get plenty of horny moments (see office rimjobs). Somehow in this quick read, you also get some poignant observation of being a woman of color in the corporate hellscape and how the risks and expectations are far more consequential than that of the musty white dude at the water cooler. How do we fit all of this goodness and intelligence in a novella? Witchcraft, wizardry, sheer genius, I’m obsessed ❤️🤩
Rebecca Kinkade accomplished such a good romance book in less than 200 pages. I flew through this in an evening and it took me right out of one of the worst book slumps I've had all year. I don't even usually like workplaces romances but this was witty, smart, hot, and so, so good. This was a true enemies to lovers with incredibly good tension that leads to the most explosive chemistry.
I think my favorite part about this book was Natalie. She was strong, intelligent, hot, and a force to be reckoned with. I really appreciated how her character highlighted the difficulties of being a Latina woman in male dominated spaces. She carried herself with so much grace and deserved to be running that place.
Wyatt took me by surprise a bit. I think it's fair to say that he fell first and he fell harder, but woof he was definitely a bit of a dick first lol. I didn't always agree with some of his choices or the way he worded things, but he definitely won me over by the end.
Definitely recommend this the next time you need a quick read or a slump-breaker!!
This whole book felt like an ode to the nude, and I bloody loved it. A well shot (and beautifully described) nude is an underrated microtrope and I'd like more of it, please! I liked that accidentally seeing Natalie sans clothing was such a turning point - they'd truly never considered one another vefore, but suddenly Wyatt is an obsessed MMC (that we have become accustomed to when reading a Kinkade). Then, Wyatt taking such care over finding the perfect nude to swap was just *chefs kiss*. I also loved Natalie. Rebecca gave us such a good insight into the challenges faced by Latina women in the corporate world, and Wyatt's ignorance to it felt very real. I thought it was beautifully crafted; Natalie didn't have to offer some big speech about how hard things were, instead she showed us through how much she had to work and make sure she never slipped up. As usual, this was an incredible read that I'd highly recommend. And let this serve as a plea for more nudes in romance.
Such a great novella. Rebecca just knows how to write the best enemies-to-lovers workplace romances with highly competent characters. I loved it.
Super easy to read. Love me an obsessed MMC. Such realistic characters too. Amazing tension and chemistry between the main leads. Felt like I did another year towards earning my MBA from Rebecca Kinkade's works lol.
Would read again, as well as anything else Rebecca Kinkade writes.
I’m not exaggerating when I say I could not put this down when I picked it up. The chemistry between Natalia and Wyatt had me feeling all kinds of happy, and I was just clinging on to every encounter they had.
I absolutely adore Rebecca’s writing style, and the way she can make every instance of this book flow seamlessly. After downloading this title from Kindle Unlimited and reading it in one sitting, I immediately purchased all three of her books, because her storytelling and character development is super satisfying to see.
I look forward to any releases she has in the future, and I am dying to swoon over the juicy, sarcastic, full-of-himself romantic interest that comes with the next book. I am a sucker for sarcastic nerds like Wyatt :P
Keep the books coming! Definitely gained a fan-girl in me.
After they hook up for the first time, the first chapter in his POV is how much he's slept around and how he'd rather call all of his one night stands that admit how much of them there is. I was so disgusted and grossed out, I couldn't read more. Like his first thought after being with the heroine is how much of a manwhore he is.
And the heroine was supposed to be sexually liberated, but she kept reminding us how she's only been with a handful of people and how she's been so long with her ex and how for the last year it's been even worse than usual in the bedroom department.
Also, she seemed to have a crush on him since she met him, but he was attracted to her after he saw her naked pictures.

🦋 My Review 🦋
This was fun. This was short. This was hilarious and as with every Rebecca Kinkade book this was spicyyyy.
Natalia & Wyatt are the true embodiment of enemies to lovers; except the enemies part is a whole ass misunderstanding (that part cracked me up). Natalia is soooo real and relatable and I loved her as an FMC.
Of course it wouldn’t be a Rebecca Kinkade book though without a man that makes your heart melt & of course that was Wyatt in every way!!! I loveeeee him so much. Yes at times (as his friend so nicely said) he’s an idiot but he’s a lovable idiot and he’s hot so that at least makes up for some part of it.
Quick cute read. A little bit of political injustice, a female Latino woman struggles for equality in a work place while navigating her work then personal relationship with a white male that she hates. The two banter in a negative way with a root cause of miscommunication. You don’t much of relationship with characters and there is not much description in the book. I recommend if you are looking for a short quick read. I do not recommend if you are looking for emotion and deep connection.
It's clear Rebecca knows what she's talking about when it comes to writing an office setting as these all feel so real which might be a small detail but it makes the overall story feel so much more realistic I'm obsessed!
In this one we have Wyatt and Natalie who work together but definitely don't get along. A little mishap leads Wyatt to seeing a nude pic of her and well after that what's a man to do but fall heads over heals? Especially when you factor in the long distance work trip they have to embark on.
This is such a great story. I love the characters and the whole premise. I love that it’s a short offshoot of the fictional world the other books are set in. I started with Due Diligence and have been reading the other stories one by one and I think that makes this shorter take so much better. Can’t wait for another smart and sexy installation set in this addictive world.
Okay so I completely feel Natalie’s pain when they say it’s a man’s world. Being a Latina isn’t always easy in the workplace and I’m so happy that I can relate to her so much. Wyatt though was everything and the fact he saw the true her made me want my own version of him. Mostly so I can too call him Wee-at LOL! I’m sad it was a novella though because I definitely need more of them and their future.
I don’t love miscommunication as a trope, really. And that’s what their conflict boils down to. There is chemistry between them but it really comes from their “hate” of each other. But it is fun seeing their chemistry explode in a spicy way!
I wish there was a little more backstory to these characters. I appreciate it is a novella but it’s 162 page novella. There is a bit of time to unpack the characters’ backstory.
3.75 stars Didn’t love how it started off with the pic; it felt a bit icky. It could have been done more delicately.
The romance was decent. I liked how Wyatt was down bad for Natalie, but being a novella the development was obviously lacking. The ILY wasn’t earned and just rushed.
I was super impressed by this office romance!! It had me giggling, wide-eyed, and swooning. The characters were adorable and spicy. The work trip situation was epic. There was so much spice, regret, and more spice!!
I would read a grocery list if RK wrote it. I would go back to my degree and read code again and never be bored. There is not a FMC I haven’t loved with my entire heart, and I would love to be in a room with all of them obliterating the men they love (and the assholes they work under).
I really enjoyed this novella. I love Rebecca’s writing style and I love a smutty little novella. My only issue was that the ending was a bit abrupt. I would have loved an epilogue so I could know that it was actually a HEA!
