Volume 3 of the Lockdown Fantasy series not only has a gorgeous cover and a fantastic line-up of authors, but also holds a special place in my heart for being my sister Georgia Megan's first published book.
This pocket-sized anthology of 9 drabbles and short stories is a delight to read, with the only link between the tales being their fantasy nature such that you don't know what to expect until you're engrossed in yet another thrilling tale of ghosts or demons or ancient gods.
Georgia Megan's tale, The Hand of the Queen, was a true standout for me, a clever and action-packed tale of warring elemental magic wielders with a devastating twist when the MC learns the cost of blind faith.
My other favourites included Elspeth by Rich Rurshell, for detailing an adorable relationship between a little girl and a demon (plus a talking moon), and Hostel Takeover by John H. Dromey for not only a really awesome pun for a title, but a clever little twist.
Great work to all of the authors!
For any of you who haven't yet grabbed this volume, there's really no excuse not to pick it up for a quick and fun read before you dive into your next novel!
