Samantha Bell isn’t the best witch in Texas. Heck, on her best day, she’s barely average. After a night of too much fairy wine and wild magic, she’s turned her second-favorite cousin, Izzy, into a furry, furious booze-guzzling ferret. So how in the world did a third-rate spell slinger wield enough magic to cast a human-to-animal hex? As the deadline looms to turn Izzy back into a human, an unknown thief steals Samantha’s spell book, the key to her power. Even with the book and its special enchantment, Samantha isn’t sure she can reverse the curse. But without it, her chances are zero. In her quest to track down the book and save Izzy, Samantha partners with hot and hunky magic investigator, Wade Forrest. Together, they uncover a secret society with a sinister magic-harvesting plan that will destroy their town. With the help of a wisecracking werewolf, a newly hatched mini-troll, and a necromancer with a passion for pomegranate martinis, Samantha realizes she is the only one who can unravel the plot and save the people she loves. But will it be at the expense of her cousin remaining a ferret forever?
A fun and snarky romp with Samantha and Wade and a cast of characters I can't wait to get to know better. Samantha isn't your average witch. Some might say she's below average but she'll tackle any ghost, goblin, or ghoul for the ones she loves. Can't wait to see what trouble she causes next!
It’s rare for me to read a book & immediately want to re-read, cause I enjoyed it so much. it happened. And oh man, I laughed, I cringed during the drama, then screamed, "noooo!" as the book came to a close with the most perfect ending.
From a feisty ferret doing "rude gestures" (if you don't legit LOL @ some of these scenes, I do not know whats wrong with ya!) to various other characters I won't spoil for you (I will simply say "snacks" had me rolling!), this was a fun read that left me super happy to enjoy this world.
Its rare to find a debut author that nails it, but Angela did that with a unique story that made me excited to read the next book.
