***NEWLY EDITED*** Julienne has her ideal job as an event planner at a prestigious resort. During a luncheon event she coordinated, a renowned celebrity pastor is killed next to the buffet. All eyes turn to her as the suspect. If she wants to stay out of jail or even keep her job, Julienne needs all the help she can get to solve the crime.
She has her work cut out for her with a vengeful high school rival now reporter, the public demanding she be fired, plus family who knows what's best for her, and a boyfriend who doesn't understand her. She turns to friends and a new ally to uncover who wanted to put the pastor on ice.
Julienne goes undercover and investigates a local swingers group as she follows the trail of clues before they go cold. Can she gather enough suspects and motives to convince the police to widen their investigation? Can she do it before the killer sets his murderous sights on her? Will her personal life ever be as simple as unveiling a murderer?
I was born and raised in Colorado, graduated from college with a degree in business administration and worked in fortune 500 companies and Department of Defense my entire life. My most eventful job (fires, suicide, kidnapping, etc) was apartment management for 352 units. I still live in Colorado with two brother black cats as my spoiled and beloved companions. I volunteer for a cat shelter, enjoy scrapbooking and card making, photography, and painting in watercolor and acrylic. I inherited a love for reading from my mother and grandmother and grew up talking about books at the dinner table. I was the odd child in school who knew the names of Henry VIII's wives because of that dinner talk.
Julienne has been completely career minded and has established herself as the event planner for a prestigious resort. When the local celebrity pastor gets a little too hands on and Julienne can tell he'd been drinking she heads to call security but within minutes of her leaving the pastor is killed and with Julienne being the last to see him the police have her on their radar.
Julienne's old high school rival is now a reporter and writes a story pointing at Julienne as the murderer the public is demanding she resign. With her overbearing father pushing her to leave her career and the police investigating her Julienne enlists the help of a new man in her life to follow the clues herself to try to find the real killer.
Iced is the first book in the a Resort to Murder Mystery series by Avery Daniels. While I found this one to be a perfectly acceptable cozy mystery I also found myself not quite loving every minute of it either. I enjoyed Julienne to a point but I also wanted to give her a bit of a push here and there to focus on the mystery instead of other things.
Perhaps it was the fact that part of the focus of the story is Julienne's love life, her family pushing her to marry and give up her dreams and her running from a proposal. All the while that is going on she meets a new man and he becomes the one helping her rather quickly after a break up. I think for me if the author is including her ditching a relationship I would have preferred she didn't turn to another man and solved the mystery on her own to make her a stronger character in my mind to fit her shying from the marriage.
I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
An ice cold murder, a break-up, a swinger club and a new exciting romance are the ingredients to this mystery in a new series set in a resort in Colorado.
A very promising and engaging story with lots of red herrings that kept me interested all the way to the last page. There is a good variety of supporting casts without being confusing.
I enjoyed the romance between Julienne and her new neighbour Mason even though he was just a tad bit too perfect.
I am looking forward to the next murder in the resort.
I requested this book from NetGalley and am thankful that Xpresso Book Tours and the author provided me with a copy.
I have a fondness for cozy mysteries. They have such quirky titles and colorful covers. And there are so many themes. Food, pets, sewing, clothing and more. The theme for this book is new to me.
It’s never a dull moment for Julienne. She works at a luxurious resort as an event planner. Everything must run smoothly and last minute changes will be accommodated. Except when it’s a dead body. Somebody killed the beloved Pastor Tom. Ran him through with an ice sculpture.
Julienne had an earlier incident with the pastor so she’s suspect number one in the eyes of Detective Lawrence. If it was up to him, they need look no further for the killer.
She knows she didn’t kill the pastor and Julienne enlists the help of some friends and the sexy new neighbor to sort things out and bring the killer to justice.
Quite the mystery. There was no clear suspect. My radar pinged on one, but then I didn’t read about that person again until way further in the story. And I was wrong.
I enjoyed reading about Julienne’s personal life as much as I did the mystery. She’s fighting for her independence. Her dad thinks she should get married and have babies. And her boyfriend seems to have her future all mapped out for her. When she’s finally had enough and puts her foot down, or rather stamps it, I applauded her. I like strong female protagonists and I was with her all the way as she carved out her own life.
You don’t have to be a cozy fan to enjoy this book. It’s got lots of colorful characters, fun dialogue, and an ending that comes out of left field. It’s good clean fun.
I received a complimentary copy. My review is voluntarily given.
The setting for this story, a resort in Colorado, was appealing and the main reason I requested the book. I don't know much about resorts but Colorado is a beautiful state and resorts aren't a common setting for cozies so I hoped it would be interesting and it was.
Julienne is passionate about her work and her career but her father and her boyfriend are not. Both want her to settle down, get married, and be a stay-at-home mother. While she's fending them off, she's also dealing with a murder at her work. She was the last person to see the victim, a well-known pastor, alive. When a newspaper article singles her out as the only suspect and the police keep coming around, she takes matters into her own hands and begins to research the victim and other viable suspects. She hopes to develop a list that she can turn over to the police to take the spotlight off of her.
Daniels kept my interest in the story; I basically read it in one sitting. The murder had lots of possible motives and suspects. Julienne used her work skills to conduct her investigation and she did a decent job. She also wasn't too proud to ask for help. Daniels created memorable characters who provide a great support system for Julienne. I liked her neighbors Nathan, Delores, and Beverly, and her family. I do wish Daniels had spent a little less time on Julienne's family life and social life as at times they overtook the mystery. At the same time it was good to see that Julienne had a life outside of her work and outside of solving crime.
The new neighbor and potential new boyfriend, Mason, however, was too good to be true. He cooks, loves dogs, is a retired Marine, is a photographer, beloved by everyone, is handsome, kind funny, etc etc. I liked him but he needed some flaws and some realism. Julienne had flaws; she had commitment and abandonment issues; was averse to taking risks (which some people in her life considered a flaw), and so on. I'm hoping that we'll see more depth and development in Mason in the next book, which I'm looking forward to reading. I liked Julienne and the others and I liked the writing. It kept me engaged and interested.
Well, most of the time. I had to keep checking my copy to verify that it was a finished copy and not an ARC as it had so many errors: wrong words, missing words, missing commas, wandering apostrophes. and the spacing between sentences! Sometimes there were 3 spaces between sentences. Sometimes there 4 spaces. Other times there were 2 and occasionally there was 1 space. It made reading visually challenging. Some of the wrong words included 'tenants' instead of 'tenets', 'site' instead of 'sight' and 'your's' instead of 'yours'. Time and again I was pulled out of the story. That really is my biggest gripe with the story. Character development can happen over time but the constant errors were distracting and unnecessary. ETA 9/4/17: The author has told me that she has re-edited the book. I have not seen the revised version.
Still, if you can overlook all of the misused words, incorrect punctuation, and the odd formatting, then you'll have a story full of memorable characters, en engaging story line, and clever plotting.
“Iced: A Resort to Murder” earns 5/5 Ice Sculptures!
Julienne LaMere, event coordinator and manager-in-training at an upscale resort in Colorado, is frantically finalizing details with frequent last-minute changes and preparing for the Leadership Luncheon with many local community leaders. “This event must be executed with precision and perfection,” her boss expected. But her training never covered how to handle a sleazy local mega-church paster suggestively accosting her and then being found empaled by the swordfish ice sculpture in front of the seafood buffet. Her reputation, employment, and possibly her freedom is in jeopardy unless she can find the killer.
I am always excited about starting a series with the first book. It’s like being first in line for the seafood buffet…wink, wink! Avery Daniels’ “Iced” is a great beginning to what I hope is several books: Upscale resort? Event planning? Murder? The story was very entertaining with twists and turns that I couldn’t hazard a guess because another motive or clue would be revealed leading to a crescendo ending of “Oh, my!” The characters are well written with strengths and vulnerabilities that are engaging to follow. Julienne has personal, as well as professional, issues to deal with and her reactions show maturation and efforts to take the reins of her own life, although I feel that family will continue to be the ‘ache’ in her head. But, there are a couple of possibilities that she might think twice about career first, marriage second. The story was engaging, the characters entertaining, and the idea that there will be more…priceless!
Julienne has a run in with the celebrity pastor and when he is found dead detective Lawrence doesn't want to look any further he thinks she is totally guilty. She decides to get her friends an one sexy neighbor , Mason to help clear her name.
While this is all going on she is fighting her dad for her independence. Her family thinks she should be married and having kids. Worse her boy friend thinks she knows what is best. I loved when Julienne puts her foot down.
I found this book to be a fun, charming, fast, cozy mystery of a read. It was so easy to read this book. Everything from the storyline to the characters were great. A nice start to this series. I look forward to reading the next book.
The first word I would use to describe Julienne is "sensible". There is nothing wrong with this quality. Yet, you could say that Julienne does not have much excitement in her life. Well that is until the murder of Pastor Tom.
Julienne investigating the murder to clear her name with the help of Felicia and Mason had me instantly thinking of Nancy Drew and her friends. However, Julienne is the earlier Nancy before she honed her skills and became really good at solving mysteries. The love interest between Julienne and Mason was sweet. Mason is a gentleman but at the same time the ways he would comfort Julienne or kiss her cheek had me swooning. Readers will be pleased with this book.
Iced is a good beginning to a new series. Julienne is a strong, career minded woman who finds herself victim to some unwanted attention. When the perpetrator is found dead, all eyes focus on Julienne, leaving her no choice but to uncover the truth.
The writing was clear and concise and the story flowed smoothly from beginning to end.
I voluntarily read an ARC of this book provided by the publisher and NetGalley.
Iced: A Resort to Murder Mystery by Avery Daniels is the first book in a new series located in Colorado. I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I live in Colorado, so I especially enjoy hearing about familiar settings. I found this book to be a quick read, with a well developed plot and characters. If you love fun cozy mysteries, I recommend this book.
I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
A really well written mystery with only two glaring errors that I could find, and those were both in the first few chapters and looked like editing mistakes. Otherwise, I COULD. NOT.PUT. IT.DOWN! Looking forward to book two and more of Julianne and Mason!
This was a new author for me, and I really enjoyed this first in series by Avery Daniels. Julienne is a manager in training at a posh Colorado resort. But when a pastor is murdered at one of the events she is overseeing and the Detective decides she is the primary suspect, she decides she better do some investigating herself. Julienne and her friends and family are all likable characters, even if some are a little kooky, but all seem willing to help her try to prove her innocence (even the new hunky neighbor across the street!). The story moves right along and definitely keeps your interest, especially as less than savory information about the Pastor keeps coming out! I did receive a free copy from BookSprout, and I write this review voluntarily.
Julienne LaMere life is pretty perfect: she has the job of her dreams, manager in training in a luxury resort in her home town. She has a boyfriend and a comfortable relationship and seems like her life is following the path that she has planned. Unfortunately, a murder in the resort changes things when the police consider her as the prime suspect in Pastor Tom Drake murder. The murder occurred only minutes of having an altercation with Julienne. As the investigation seems to point to nobody else, Julienne is decided to make the police see that she had nothing to do with it. She starts investigating other people who should be on the suspect list while finding out that appearances are not always what they seem, and looks can be deceiving. But will she find out who the real murder is before she becomes a victim herself?
This is a phenomenal murder mystery that will hook you from the start while you guess who the murderer is when so many people had a motive. I flew through it and I enjoyed every page of it.
Deceptive characters
I love a book where you never know what to expect from a character, like you may think you know him or her and suddenly you discover something that you didn’t expect. This happened in the book which made it so much more interesting. As the plot unravels you realize that you never know someone and that looks and appearances aren’t what it seemed.
Mason is such an adorable character and one whose looks may deceive you. He looks like a rock star and a womanizer but then, when you get to know him he still has the looks, but he is so much more. I loved how he tries to protect Julienne and how with barely knowing her he believes that she is innocent and tries to help her. To make him even more adorable he has a dog.
Julienne is the type of heroine I enjoy reading. She is an independent and intelligent woman decided to pursue a career rather than settle down just yet, even if she has to fight with her family for it. This made me connect with her from the beginning. You could think that what should be easy nowadays becomes a great barrier when her father is pressuring her into settling down, getting marry and have kids. Where she is confident in her professional life in her love life she is rather conformist. She has known her boyfriend most of her life but you can tell there is no passion there, maybe love for the time spent together. She sees this but she is so afraid to risk it that she prefers to stay in it.
Another thing that I really enjoyed was the community where Julienne lived. They’re all a few neighbors and they all get along real nice and support each other. It was more like a family than just neighbors. And each of them was different adding an extra to the story.
Surprising mystery
There were some surprises during the investigation and turned of events I didn’t see coming, especially the ending. I was more or less correct but not entirely. I must say that I haven’t read many or any books with the same approach which made it a unique read for me.
I highly recommend this for those who would like to have a great time, solve a mystery and laugh a little too. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.
“Iced: A Resort to Murder” earns 5/5 Ice Sculpture Displays!
I am always excited about starting a series with the first book. It’s like being first in line for the seafood buffet…wink, wink! Avery Daniels’ “Iced: A Resort to Murder” is a great beginning to what I hope is several books: Upscale resort? Event planning? Questionable appetites? Murder? The story was very entertaining with twists and turns that I couldn’t hazard a guess because another motive or clue would be revealed leading to a crescendo ending of “Oh, my!” The characters are well written for a first book with strengths and vulnerabilities that are engaging to follow. Julienne has personal, as well as professional, issues to deal with and her reactions show maturation and efforts to take the reins of her own life. Family will undoubtedly continue to be a headache, and romance more of a dilemma since her dream to travel puts career first, marriage second. But…there still is “the hot new guy.” The story was engaging, the characters entertaining, and I love the idea that there will be more at another resort…Her world travels begin!
I love audiobooks. They are vastly superior to me reading to myself. This version was very entertaining, and Susan Marlowe was brilliant! She enhanced Avery Daniel’s engaging story with a talented array of voices that illustrated the manners and personalities of Avery’s characters: Julienne’s determination and fear, Porches Anete Kruze French accent, Tamara’s twangy voice, dry and humorless Detective Lawrence, and sexy Mason. Adding the right tone and speed the emotion and suspense is heightened: I could feel the frustration Julienne had with her family, and was on the edge of my seat when she was put in harm’s way. Overall it was a great experience!
Iced is the first book in Avery Daniel's Resort to Murder series and is an exciting contemporary cozy mystery. If you like Cleo Coyle, Maddy Hunter, Duffy Brown, Lynn Cahoon, Leighann Dobbs, and Annette Dashofy, then you'll love this series with a strong intelligent sleuth, lavish settings, and tantalizing mysteries.
Read this spunky clean cozy mystery and start enjoying Julienne's adventures today!
I struck gold when I agreed to review the book ICED! I immediately loved the character Julienne LaMere. She reminded me of a friend I once knew in college, determined, geared on her career and diffident to take the well-trodden path of married with children. Julienne could not accept life with her longtime boyfriend, Brandon, no matter how much he sweetened the pot. She needed to stand up to her father since he wanted her married and settling down. To her aunt and uncle and even her couple of cousins who were jumping through hoops to get her 'figured out.'
The story is about Julienne putting a well-known lewd pastor in his place when he tries to grope her and the man getting murdered five minutes after she’s out of the room. Of course, I don’t need to tell you what ensues—a superb mystery the author Avery Daniels twists and twists and winds tightly around her baby finger. So tight, in fact, it is difficult to attempt a guess at what transpired and discover who might be the culprit.
Doubt, fear, and danger do not stop Julienne from conducting her own investigation. Especially that the clock is ticking and she needs to discover who did the deed before she is arrested and thrown in jail, or so she believes. Sometimes, the story shows us Julienne might be more afraid of marriage and the life expected of her than she is of coming face to face with a killer.
The mystery is relentless, the characters alive and funny, and for the lack of a better expression, the novel is a page-turner. A must read for all those who enjoy getting lost in a well-crafted story.
My favorite character was Julienne. She was a strong woman, not afraid to stand up for what she believed and going after what she wants. She was a hard worker traveling and working at different hotels. She didn't seem to have much support from anyone. Sometimes she seemed to get side tracked a little. It made you want to direct her straight ahead instead of going in the opposite direction.
It seems like the main love interest, Mason is the symbol of perfection. Just a bit too perfect.
I found as I turned the pages, the suspense built. I kept thinking I had the mystery solved but as the pages turned, I found I was on the wrong track. It kept me in suspense until the end. I was sure I knew who the killer was but I had to re-think it as the pages turned. It was interesting to find that the person murdered was a pastor. That made you think what in the world did this man of the faith do to warrant someone killing him, even though he was a rather immoral person. With Julienne being one of the last people to see the pastor, is she involved? After all the pastor had made advances towards her. Can Julienne find out who the killer is before she is arrested, or before she becomes a target? The book is short enough to get the good mystery in without going through a lot of unnecessary information. You didn't get bogged down by too much. A fun and quick read. If you love cozy mysteries with their fun plots and cute titles then try this one. IT's sure to please.
I received a copy of this book from the author and PUYB and voluntarily decided to review it.
Iced, the first book in the Resort to Murder Mystery series, is entertaining and un-put-down-able. Julienne, the main character, is the manager-in-training at a five-star resort. She's quite relatable, as is her support system — her cousins Felicia and Loring, and her lively, elderly neighbors Delores, Beverly, and Nathan. Julienne's new neighbor, Mason Sheridan, goes from being a puzzle to someone else she can count on for support. I really like how Julienne stands up for herself with her father, aunt, uncle, and boyfriend, when they try to... (Oops, I don't want to spoil it for you.)
The mystery is very good in Iced. As Julienne is trying to find out who really killed Pastor Tom, she uncovers several plausible motives and suspects, so the reader has some red herrings to weed out. The climax, when Julienne discovers whodunit, is very exciting. I love the ending of Iced, and am already looking forward to reading Book #2, Nailed.
I recommend Iced to all cozy mystery fans, especially those who are also fans of the Geek Girl Mysteries by Julie Anne Lindsey, and the Leah Norwood Mysteries by B. L. Blair.
I really enjoyed Iced by Avery Daniels, and hereby grant it Four Stars!
[Note: I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of Iced. All opinions shared are 100% my own.]
Julienne has big dreams, she wants to travel the world and manage resorts in exotic destinations. She has a job as a manager in training and is being placed in charge of more and more events. As she is checking final arrangements on a large event one of the participates, Pastor Tom a local pastor who has made it big, comes into the room and grabs Julienne. She knees him and runs from the room. Moments later one of the staff enters the room and finds him dead, impaled on an ice sculpture. Since Julienne was the last person to see him alive the police suspect her. To help keep herself out of jail she decides to do some investigating to help give the police someone else to look at. As she starts digging she realizes the list of police suspects is longer than anyone suspected.
Of course Julienne's life doesn't go on vacation while all this is going on. Her boyfriend of over a year proposes marriage. However it is a very muddled proposal where he tells her how they will live the rest of her life, never mind her plans and goals for life because they are just silly. Her relatives and well meaning neighbors introduce her to the hunky new neighbor, who also happens to be a very good body guard. Since she is irritating the real killer she needs a body guard. Will Julienne find out who killed Pastor Tom before someone kills her?
I received this book for free in exchange for my honest review.
I enjoyed this fun entertaining sweet mystery. It had cozy but not a lot in it. We have Julienne fighting to prove her innocence and keep her independence. She is a good character. Sometimes a little lost in her self but genuinely a caring person. She is juggling showing everyone it is okay to have a career, her personal life and show her independence. Her boyfriend started out as a good guy but when his and Julienne’s lives didn’t mesh and Julienne figured out they were more like family than lovers he became a jerk.
I loved the nosy but caring neighbors and how they helped her find suspects. Her sexy neighbor where there is chemistry and we get hint of romance was supportive and a great listener. He also helped her uncover the truth and encourage her in her career. I look forward to seeing more of them in the future.
The story was fun and full of suspects. It was a pastor who had many salacious secrets and when uncovered showed his true colours. In the process of revealing them though Julienne was put in danger and so was her job. It kept you wondering what would be next and rooting for her to figure out the truth behind who put the ice in the pastor.
A great quick fun read that has you entertained and enjoying the antics of Julienne and her sidekicks while getting a little cozy romance on the side as well.
This is a fun little cosy mystery. With plenty of suspects and motives it keeps you guessing until the end. Some parts of the book seemed to focus more on the main characters love life than the mystery which made it lose a star only because I like the investigation to be the main focus. Otherwise is easy to follow and sometimes funny. I liked the fact the main character had a unusual job for a cosy mystery, where cafes and bakeries are the norm. Julienne is a costed by a famous pastor only for him to turn up dead minutes later, in the middle of a luncheon at her hotel. The police immediately start there investigation with her, being the last person to have argued with the man. This puts her dream job in jeopardy as the complaints start flooding in after a newspaper article. Not wanting to lose the job she had worked so hard to get Julienne starts her own investigation in the pastor leading her to a few hidden surprises that would have his prisoners raising there eyebrows at. At the same time her boyfriend starts to make demands about there future together, a future he has already mapped out. Can Julienne find the killer and save her love life? The narrator is good at both female and male voices making the listen a pleasure. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Avery Daniels shows her writing talents with her debut novel of her new series. With a well rounded characters and a plot the flows quickly and smoothly between scenes. It is a fast paced story and a delightfully fun read.
My rating of "Iced: A Resort to Murder Mystery Book 1" is 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Julianne loves her job at the five start resort in Colorado, but her job could be in danger after being the first suspect of the death of Pastor Tom... Will she be able to clean her name?
This is a quick read mystery, full of characters and quite an explosive case! Julianne is a character that really knows what she wants, a job, a career, and is not ready to start a family yet, but maybe the handsome Mason will make change her mind. I was a little bit tired that everyone in Julianne's life tries to get her a husband or a boyfriend... a girl could be happy and alone! Mason is the typical gentlemen; attractive, protective and romantic... maybe he needs to do something wrong, too perfect! The case in this book is quite strong, to use a mild word... a Pastor that participates in Swing group and maybe flirting with young girls? Too many dark secrets not to have a very long list of possible killers after you! I was a little overwhelmed with the long list of characters that appeared on the book, some of them were just for a phone call or a couple of dialogues... I hope in the next book they will appear more and we will start to know the link between them and Julianne. Ready for a crazy party?
Complicated and Controversial All Julienne wants is to do a good job, prove herself in her role as an event organizer and move on to bigger, better, more exciting opportunities. Unfortunately her life is a mixture of safe and predictable along with her big dreams. Until one day she finds herself in the wrong place, responding automatically and suddenly, as a result, she becomes the number one suspect in the murder of a local celebrity.
This is a bit grittier than most cozy mysteries I have read. Julienne's personal life is affected in all aspects, from her family rallying around her to an overdue change in her relationship status to potentially losing her career. The renowned Pastor who meets his end made enemies through various shady activities, all only slightly hidden. They are discussed with tact in the book and come across as quite plausible. The story moves along quickly as danger to Julienne escalates. Her friends are quite charming and the new neighbor (and his dog) surprisingly attractive.
Another delightful read. Over and over I seemed to use that same description. But I can't help it. Iced was just fun and the characters all of them were delightful. Well the suspects weren't too delightful but the rest of Julienne's friends, neighbors and relatives were..
Julienne is a great leading lady with lots of friends and relatives that help her find the answers and clear her name. Among the characters are her crazy elderly neighbors. And the handsome new James Bondish neighbor Mason. It seems everyone gets involved in one way or another to help Julienne investigate. Including her cousin who goes undercover and infiltrates the deceased pastors church to get the scoop and find what is/was going on.
Iced was a good clean read. The story line was a little different but that only made it more interesting!
I am looking forward more in the series! This is a great cozy mystery everyone will enjoy.
I received a complimentary copy from Great Escapes Tours.
This is the first book in the Resort to Murder Mysteries series. Julienne is a manager-in-training at a 5 Star resort with visions of working in resorts all over the world. But first she must prove herself innocent of the murder of the high profile Pastor Tom.
I liked Julienne as soon as she kneed the Pastor for roughly groping her. This is a girl who can stand up for herself, which she has to do to her father and current boyfriend, who both think she should have a nothing job and raise babies (I thought it's the mother asking for grandbabies!). She is determined to go her own way but first, since defending herself lands her in the prime suspect spotlight, she must now gather enough information/evidence to give the police other credible suspects.
The plot and characters are believable, and once I got into it, the book was hard to put down. I look forward to the rest of the books in the series.
I received a review copy of this book and I am providing my honest opinion without any compensation or expectations.
When Julienne finds herself the prime suspect in the murder of a celebrity pastor, she decides to turn up some alternative suspects with her investigation. Problem is she also catches the attention of someone who is quite happy with her being implicated and will stop at nothing to make sure she doesn't uncover the truth.
Every time I read a cozy I remember how much I love them. Daniels has created a strong first book in the Resort to Murder Mystery with a ton of promise to come.
Julienne is a career-mind young woman who winds up in a bit of mess. But like the champ she is she's not going to stand idly by while the police build a case against her. Instead, she begins her own little investigation in the hopes of digging up enough evidence to help police track down the real culprit. Daniels really puts this character through the wringer, which makes for a fabulous story. There's some romance and humor along the way too. I can't wait to see what is in store for our quirky event planner.
Iced by Avery Daniels Who killed Pastor Tom, wasn’t he a saint after all? I thoroughly enjoyed this Murder mystery and tried to work it out as usual but had to get to the end as I was unable to figure it out correctly. I liked most of the characters as well and didn’t want them labelled as the killer. Julienne is happily working at her perfect job, wanting it as her career while enjoying working at a beautiful resort, living not too far away. She has organised an event and checked all is going well apart from the main speaker being a sleeve which she reports to security so no guests are mauled as she just was. Next minute, the sleeve is dead and Julienne has made herself the subject police believe to be guilty! No, I cannot let her take the blame so I had to read as quick as I could. Don’t miss this great mystery. Enjoy it as I did and try to work out Who Did It! I bought this book and the review is entirely my own.
When a philandering Pastor makes a pass at the Events Coordinator at a Conference he ends up dead and she's the prime suspect. We were with her and know SHE didn't do it, but who did? The more she uncovers in an effort to clear her name, the more suspects there seem to be. And someone keeps breaking into her office. And what about that Hot Hero? Part cozy, part romance and all fun, some serious relationship and life issues are explored which turn this from a piece of fluff into a novel worthy of more serious consideration. Author Avery Daniels has put together a captivating script which, as narrated by Susan Marlowe, becomes an engrossing audio play. And Whodunnit? Well I got part of it right but the clues were there for the whole answer.
