Does the plans you make always go your way??
For Gil Leduc, the seventeen years old boy and the major protagonist of Jim Toner's mystery thriller "Summer Danger" it didn't!!
After four years of being away from his native land, Gil is finally returning back. He was all cheers and ready to have a wonderful time on the Atlantic coast of Royan. His plans goes awry when Gil get to read from a newspaper about the missing case of an young American boy from his place. At first, he didn't give it much notice but while at beach when he witness a kidnapping, clues unravel and arouse the detective in him. He can't help but find out the truth behind the case. Well, things get complicated when he starts investigating and suddenly tables turn and he becomes the prime suspect.
What exactly happened to the young boy??Will he be able to solve the mystery??
To be honest, it's been a while I read a thriller and this one was perfect tonic to my thriller deficiency. I loved the character of Gil a lot. He's such a smart lad. Also, one of the interesting factor about this nail-biting thriller is the brilliant execution.
It takes it's time to unravel the mystery by providing twists and turns at the perfect time, thereby making the reader fully engrossed in the story. Even not being much of a thriller buff, I found it intriguing. Besides that the narration is gripping and easy to flow.
If you are a lover of thriller, you may check this one out!! Also if you are a newbie to the genre then this will be a perfect start for you👍

First, I want to thank WNY author Jim Toner for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.
WOW! Just from my comfy chair Jim Toner whisked me away to Royan in Summer Danger! What a trip it was! It had a lot of suspense, mystery, shocking moments, and twists and turns.
Kudos to the graphic designer who created this cover graphic for the book. It was beautiful and the sunset was picturesque.
Right away I had to smile as I am a huge fan of Bichon Frise! I totally agree when Jim compared the dog to a big ball of cotton. Those dogs are too cute! If I ever got a dog that is the breed I would get.
One thing I love about Jim’s work is that he always includes his hometown of Niagara Falls, NY into each story he writes. This one is no exception to that. Gil was visiting Royan from Niagara Falls, NY to sit at the beach with his cousin Catherine.
Oh how yummy that breakfast feast sounded that Gil had! It made me miss the good ol days of breakfast buffets pre covid.
I am a huge fan of missing person cases in Mystery novels. That being said this book took a unique spin on the topic.
I was happy to see that Jim incorporated his love of his faith into Gil’s character.
WOW!! I didn’t see that event coming so quickly into the storyline! I was shocked and saddened at the same time.
Jim instills a very important lesson in his book that you don't need alcohol to have a good time. That is so true!
My heart raced as I was worried about Alyssa and wondered what was happening to her. It was a very scary scene.
Interestingly enough the lighthouse on the cover does play into significant meaning into the storyline. It is an historical one I may add.
This book is dedicated to Robert L. Cummings, Jim Toner’s German professor. Who encouraged him to keep writing. He would also like to dedicate it to Paul F. Johnson, one of his French professors, who introduced him to many to the novels of many French authors.
Jim has been blessed to be a member of the Writers Church where they have been a great source of encouragement to him.
He would like to thank Murder in Ice, a division of Sisters in Crime, especially Lisa Marie Redmond and Kathy Kaminski who helped answered his questions about the police work.

Life is inherently unpredictable, filled with twists and turns that can catch us off guard. And no matter how meticulously we plan our paths, there's an inherent uncertainty that often leads to plans deviating from their intended course.
This unpredictability is what makes life simultaneously challenging and exciting, forcing us to adapt, learn, and grow in response to the unexpected. It's a reminder that while we can set goals and aspirations, we must also be prepared to adjust our sails when the winds of life shift.
The book, ‘Summer Danger’ by author Jim Toner revolves around our main protagonist, who is seen to be embracing this uncertainty, which leads to resilience, creativity, and a deeper appreciation for the journey itself, even when it doesn't align with his initial plans.
Feeling homesick after being away for four long years, never ever in his wildest dreams did Gil Leduc ever think that getting on that bullet train at Gare Montparnasse in Paris would be the beginning of what would set in motion a life-altering adventure.
As a result, within a week of his arrival, Gil not only has to deal with finding about the mystery behind these strange things that have been happening with him, but also becomes a person of interest in an ongoing investigation.
As a reader, right from the very first page, we are given these glimpses into some occurences that happen with our characters, and only at the end do all these things start making sense, thereby showcasing the prowess of the author to weave a tale that will keep the audience engrossed throughout.
Also, I liked how the author has depicted the bond between Gil and Catherine, and has also taken time to develop the rest of supporting characters like that of Jan, Liz, Jacob or Hope, who all add value on their own in the story. Hence, I am going to give this FIVE STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Gil is a young boy who came to spend some times with his cousin Catherine on the beaches, along the coast of small atlantic country Royan. But his plan of relaxing and enjoying turned into a plan of solving mysteries and encountering dangers.He got to know about Ashley, an american student who was missing in Royan and he wanted to enquire and know more about her.He was encountering some strange people like a woman who insists everyone to meet her grand daughter, weird air hostess and others.Soon strange were not just characters but the events also -- he stumbled upon a dead body -- Ashley's.Soon more chracters are brought in the story, brought varied angles of the missing case and mystery. Then there were deaths somehow related to Gil, there's a conspiracy against him and his life was in danger again and again.

Look out! Don't let someone jinx you! I love mysteries, not the murder mysteries or gore, but the ones that are looking for a missing person or will. Those I like. They always keep you dangling at the end of every chapter, wanting you to read on.
The biggest part of this is obviously the mystery, and still I’m sitting here trying to process the ending. It was just such a mind shocker that I’m still processing everything. Oh I love this book so very much. I highly recommend it. Gil is such a wonderful character, filled with real flaws and amazing skills.
Summer Danger is simultaneously devastating, captivating, and edge-of-my-seat thrilling. The writing is just delicious. Each word feels well-chosen, polished and placed in order, but so organic that when the whole thing comes together it feels like it's found the place it was always meant to be.
I don't want to say much more and spoil anything, except to say it was all perfect. Gil and the cast of characters is great--I've come to care for so many of them now. And Jim Toner excels at having a diverse group in his books, which I love.
The conclusion of the mystery is excellent; I was frantically flipping pages and caught on every word. The ending is quite fitting for a beloved book. I loved it but I'm sad that it's over and would love to get my hands on more works by Jim!!

Gil somehow managed to find out the body of the missing Amercian student. Here comes the twist in the story when Gil became the prime suspect in the crime of Murder of that missing american boy,now he has to prove himself innocent.

The title of the book "Summer Danger : A Gil Leduc Mystery" is very intriguing and a perfect . The author Jim Toner penned down a book filled with mystery, suspense and thrill.
The main character of the book is a seventeen year old Gil Leduc. Gil decides to go to his motherland France after 4 years of nonattendance for his vacation. He wanted to have a calm and peaceful vacation on the sea shores of Royan. While he was travelling to Royan he read about the mysterious disappearance of a young American student in Royan but he did not take that seriously. He was enjoying his vacation on the beach very peacefully until he witnessed a kidnapping there and at that time he recalled the article that he saw on his train journey. After this incident Gil activated his Investigation Mode. But when he was trying to investigate he accidentally stepped on the dead body of young American student he got into a very big trouble and became a prime suspect and went into legal trouble.
It is a very interesting book. I recommend this book to everyone who likes to be in suspence and read mystery books. The cover page is very attractive. The writing style of the author makes the book more interesting

He had planned to spend a satisfactory vacation. The description of the beautiful beaches and cities is well penned down.
But the mystery starts when he reads about a young American student. The American kid went missing.
Gil witnesses a kidnapping being committed while he was enjoying his time on the beach. This one single event gives him a pathway to think and process and understand the situation and circumstances related to a kidnapping. Gil starts investigating the case on own.
But Gil finds the dead body of the missing American kid and subsequently he is suspected by the authorities.
Will Gil be able to prove his innocence?
The narration is clear and crisp making it a good read for all thriller lovers. The language used is lucid. The elements of suspense and thriller are layered well by the author. The plot unfolds it's elements as it flows gradually.
There are numerous characters yet each character has been given sufficient scope to contribute to the plot. Each character is layered well.

So guys its been a long i got my hands to mysterious stories so being a mysterious stories lover,i decided to give a read to this book which is Summer Danger" by Jim Toner.I read its kindle edition,paperback also avaiable for this book.
Coming to the plot, the story revolves around Gil Leduc, a seventeen-year-old who is back to his native country after a gap of four years. Everyone needs a break from their busy lives, so Gil decided to spend his vacation on the beaches of Royan, but Gil had no idea that a twist was in store for him.

His plan: to spend a nice, quiet vacation on the beaches of Royan, a small city along the Atlantic Coast. But whatever goes perfectly as planned? On the train, Gil reads about a young American student who has gone missing in Royan. He thinks nothing much of it until he witnesses an attempted kidnapping while on the beach, which sparks a spiral of clues that awaken a mystery Gil can’t help but investigate. When Gil stumbles on the dead body of the missing American student, he’s thrust from innocent kid to prime suspect and now has to answer to the French authorities. Their suspicion of him heightens when it’s revealed that Gil knew the victim. The conclusion of the mystery is excellent; I was frantically flipping pages and caught on every word. The ending is quite fitting for a beloved book. I loved it but I'm sad that it's over and would love to get my hands on more works by Jim!!
The title and book cover are the parts that are more visible, and both do honors to the content. The title is intriguing and unique. Also, the book cover is appealing and conveys a lot about the content of the book. It’s a captivating and refreshing book that will keep readers engrossed until the very last page. What a crime fiction it was! I like the complexity and unbreakable pleasure of reading Summer Danger.
The book has chosen many of the essential literary words needed to make it more engaging to a reader. This book has a decent immaculate concept with a wonderful appearance to the framework and creating it a premium comprehensive tale.

Everything was as perfect as a beach should feel, but when he saw a resistive attempt of kidnapping he recalled the same article he had seen at his train journey & started believing in all the traumatic data. He without any further delay got into the investigation mode.

He is continously nagged by an old lady named Madame Cartier (who is attempting to set him up with her granddaughter) onthe train from Paris to Royan, and reading about a lost foreign student doesn't help to ease his nerves.
He is enthralled by the mystery surrounding this missing student.
Gil wants to find out what happened to Ashley Slick, a missing woman.
The plot picks up speed and becomes more exciting as more characters enter the story, such as Jacob and Hope (language students at Royan), Gil's girlfriend Jan and her friend Liz, and Alyssa.
Madame Cartier (frequently seen in strange places), Pierre Desjardin (owner of the Monte Carlo club where Ashley was last seen before she vanished), and De La Rosa are among the suspects ( tutor at the language institute, Ashley was seen talking to him at Monte Carlo).
Catherine's character was intriguing, and she, like Jan, played an important role in the plot. The mystery grew thicker and thicker, and it was Catherine who, towards the end of the novel, provided the answers.
The conclusion had a lot of movement.
Summer Danger is a well-written mystery novel with a compelling plot.

This is a story that resolves around a seventeen-year-old boy named Gil Leduc. He returns to his native country France after a long period of four years. I liked his character, a simple and sorted boy who loves to spend a nice, quiet vacation on the beaches of Royan, a small city along the Atlantic Coast. But as we know, most of the times, our plans doesn't match with the reality. So here comes a twist in the story of Gil when he reads about a young American student who has gone missing in Royan. He thinks nothing much of it until he witnesses an attempted kidnapping while on the beach, which sparks a spiral of clues that awaken a mystery Gil can’t help but investigate.
What's that mystery and who is going to solve it?
When Gil stumbles on the dead body of the missing American student, he’s thrust from innocent kid to prime suspect and now has to answer to the French authorities. Their suspicion of him heightens when it’s revealed that Gil knew the victim.
I like the kind of mystery involved in this story, It kept me interested till the end, After reading every page, my curiosity to know what will happen next got stronger. It is really an interesting story and I enjoyed till the end. I love stories where the suspense is maintained till the end and this is one such story, It kept me hooked and I finished this book in two-three sittings. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone who is interested in such type of stories.

🍷If you want to read a page turner thriller, this is it. As soon as I started this book, I was glued to it right from the first page till the end. The storyline is weaved in a way which makes it more engaging in and out. Imagine a teenager character reading about a crime mystery and then getting a hint that he was indirectly a part of it, doesn't this sound crazy and thrilling?

The language is extremely simple and the narration is quite handy and lucid making it more tempting because once I started it, I was really curious to know what happens next, I was wondering where it would take me but yes, it was very unpredictable throughout.

I was genuinely try to figure the truth and trying to connect the links but I couldn't really make it because I feel the book was so well plotted, it's actually very well executed in terms of writing and storyline. The characters were a little bit complex because you can get confused about building their image in your head, mostly because they're not the way you think they're, but I loved the thrill and suspense that sustained throughout the book. Go for it, if you're a mystery lover, you will love this book! It really lived upto my expectations.

Summer Danger is an intriguing story with a fabulous setting. Seventeen-year-old Gil is excited to spend part of his summer in Royan, France, visiting his cousin. But this getaway is anything but relaxing when he becomes involved in a missing college student case. Will Gil be able to help solve the brewing mystery before he and his cousin become targets? While this is the 2nd book in a series, it’s the first I read by this author. I’m now curious to discover adventures with this teen sleuth.
