Two Lovers, Two Murders, Too Many Secrets

Packed with page-turning cliff hangers and thrilling suspense, Road to Rumour interweaves the story of a hotel owner, Connie Harvey Fairchild, her marriage at breaking point, and local farmer, Ken Wesselman, still troubled by the disappearance of his wife and child, forty years ago. This small town murder-mystery of +70,000 words will keep you enthralled from beginning to end with a guaranteed, mind-blowing finish.

For the past ten years, Constance Harvey-Fairchild has run the Lion's Den Hotel in the remote community of Rossville. Now, her marriage is falling apart. Her husband is lying. And there is some truth to the rumour that she is having an affair. Then hikers discover human remains in nearby Black Mountain. The remains are brought to the hotel, where a local man links the gruesome find to a forty-year-old mystery - the disappearance of a woman and child. Trying to piece together what is left of her marriage, the skulls go missing, and Connie finds herself at the centre of a dangerous plan to destroy the past and keep the identity of a killer hidden.

This story is a good representation of what happens when instead of collectively working on a problem (or a mystery), individuals are pushing their own agendas with catastrophic results.
With a great setting and believable characters, this novel will keep you in suspenders from beginning to end. Highly recommended!
