"It's time to embrace your inner wolf."Arriving in Mercaida was the least of our worries once we saw the dangers that awaited us. It was the place that held half of who I was, yet it turned out to be filled with even more secrets than I could ever imagine. Was the shifter passing me on the street every morning friend or foe? Even the friendliest face held the darkest of intentions.Things were worse than we thought. Some friends became enemies, and sometimes the ones who could hurt us the most were the ones closest to us. Connecting with my wolf turned out to be one of the greatest things that ever happened to me, but this time it brought me struggles and pain.Challenging us.Testing us.Destroying us.Alpha Murdock has a hint of darkness hiding behind his plaster-kind smile. With the darkness growing thicker over Mercaida, we're running out of time to fight it. Yet when secrets are exposed and the truth emerges, we must choose between fighting against our own, or fighting for our freedom. My wolves are calling, but can I help them? This is book 2 out of 3Wolves of Mercaida Call of the WolfFall of the AlphaRise of the Pack
Book 2 takes the guys back home, with Makena finally getting to see where the place where her Mom came from. As much as I wanted to love this book as much as the first, several things just kept it from being as awesome as it could.
Makena had to learn more about herself while in the process somehow loosing her ability to connect with and shift into her wolf. There's some great new characters that we're introduced to, some new friends that are made and some new foes that are brought to light, beyond that of the alpha.
I feel like the disconnect with her guys was never fully explained and was most likely the leading factor as to why she lost her ability to connect with her wolf and shift and their relationships should have been developed more during this book. In fact, the guys almost became more like roommates then love interests.
I very much enjoyed the action scenes and the realistic way Makena was portrayed during these scenes, as well as others through out the book, instead of being the kick butt, take names type of character that we would normally see in these kinds of books. I loved the ending scene in this book, with the return of Austin and the hint of what he might know that can help win the day, in the long run. Can't wait to read the final book!
With Carlisle behind them, and Mercaida infront, life should of been good. But danger lurks on the horizon.
Who can they trust to help when the time comes ...?
This is the second book in the Wolves of Mercaida series, and a direct continuation from the first book "Call of the wolf".
Having recently read the first book it was still fresh in my mind, and I must admit I had high expectations for this.
Sadly there were elements of this book that grated on me, for example the repetition. It felt like every few pages I was being reminded of the same thing which was the fact that she was cold and hadnt aclimatised as she should of.
Her reletionship with the guys is another thing that dissapointed me. It seemed to of come to a complete standstill if not going backwards. I didnt really feel like there was any depth to what they shared.
The storyline was good and kept me reading, but the final hurrah was a little anticlimactic.
I really wanted this to be a five star read but its not. I'm giving it four no more, no less.
Makena and her mates are leaving carlisle and heading to Mercaida. After arriving, Makena is eager to explore her new home. Most people seem to be kind, but who can be trusted? The Alpha needs to be taken down and alliances need to be made, but nothing can seem to go right.
This is the second book in the Wolves of Mercaida series and I enjoyed this book just as much, if not more than the first. I loved the relationship exploration and troubles between Makena and the guys. There is more action and intrigue in this book than there was the first, which was great! I am very much looking forward to reading the third book in this awesome series.
Amazeballs! Loving this series! Makena after weeks of travel, learning about herself and her wold are finally at Mercaida, Of course she did not do it alone and is surrounded by her mates who offer support at every turn. Until the tension starts to mount and its not the good kind of tension. Makena starts to doubt herself, her wolf and her mates, and the cold starts to creep in the cracks. Makena has many obstacles to overcome in this book but this is not the end (it better not be Maya!) This is a brilliant Addition to the series and I cannot wait to get started on the next book.!
This is book two of the wolves of Mercaida, a lot more character development in this story I feel compared to book one, Makenna clearly goes through the most, growing into her self as well as doubting her self a bit, this is a page turner of emotions and drawls you in FAST I was hooked from chapter one. I can’t wait to see where book three takes us I don’t want to give much away in my review as well spoilers but I’m still loving Julian :)
OMG Maya has done it again! As the second book in a series, Maya has definitely out done herself...I think it is even better than the first and I love it! A definite must read!! I can't wait to read the next book!!!
Straight to the point: Great character and world building Seemless introduction of new characters (no new harem member, don't worry) No M/M An easy read, no major (or minor) grammatical issues, smooth transitions
Kira and the guys are headed to Mercaida with some stops along the way. They are unsure what to expect but best to be prepared. We see alot of character development in this book as Kira and the guys get to know each other more. Being in the place that is part of her Kira has to learn to connect to a part of her that she is just now growing into. I'm excited to see what happens with Kira and the guys.
Makena and the guys get back to Mercaida. She is determined to learn all about her new home. They have learned a lot of things have changed since the guys left. The alpha proves to be power hungry and they know they have to get rid of him. Makena spends a lot of her time out exploring and new people. I felt like this book was a little too wordy and I skimmed over some of it. It's a good story, but I'm ready for some more action.
Makena and the guys are headed to Mercaida. While she’s excited to learn about her new home, she’s unsure of what to expect. However, things aren’t what they seem and Makena and her guys are going to have to weed out the friends from the foes.
This was an exciting sequel to Call of the Wolf. There are twist and turns, more character development, and action. I can’t wait to see what book 3 has in store for us.
This book was so good! I could not put it down. The characters are absolutely wonderful and the transition from book one to this I thought was seamless. I liked how the relationships between her and the guys are going and how protective they are of each other. I am super excited to find out what will happen in the next book. There’s a little bit of foreshadowing and I have a ton of theories.
Another fabulous book from Maya Riley. This is book 2 of this series and seriously this series is getting better and better. Loving the characters especially Mercaida. Definitely a book that will keep you up late cause you have to read it all. Definitely well written and absolutely a must read story!!! Really want book 3.
Experiencing Makena exploring her mothers and her home town, discovering how horrible the alpha has been to his people and some other secrets was drama and action filled. Throughout it all she kept to her beliefs. Happy how her relationships with the guys are growing and after the ending of this book cannot wait to see how things unfold in Mercaida next.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Another fantastic book in this series, cannot wait to see what happens next. I now remember why I like to wait till the whole series is out as too long to wait for next book.
Loved this book. I love that Makena had to work through some issues. She lost her wolf, but after some hard work she reconnected to her. There is a big bad at work here. It is not the Alpha, but something darker. The end of this book is very satisfying. It doesn't feel like a cliffhanger. It does lead into what the next book will be about.
And the second book pulls you right back into the story. Loved seeing the deepening of the relationship between her and the guys and them getting to know each other better. A page turner with action that kept me hooked and I can’t wait to see what happens on the next book!!
The second book in this shifter series and it was action from the very beginning ...and just when you think happily ever after is here....BANG!!!! Cliffhanger here we come!!!! Can't wait for the next book!!
This author is on fire. I’m loving this story and that’s amazing characters! I love reading shifter books and this author is hitting it out of the park. Can’t wait for the next book.
Great continuation of book one. I love love the way the characters are growing closer and more protective of each other. Definitely a page turner that will keep you hooked.
I would definitely recommend that everyone read this series of books. This one had so many twists and turns that it was dizzying to say the least. Frustration and anger got to me many times. I just wanted to go inside the story to help everyone. The way it turned out at the end of this story was perfect though. No annoying cliffhanger, but it still leaves you wanting to know what's going to happen next. Maya Riley is a great author.
