As important as it is to know about and relate to key characters in the Bible, it's more important to understand the lengths to which Jesus has gone to relate to you. That's the purpose of every person's to aid in the supernatural revelation of Jesus Christ. Every detail matters. Every exchange deserves thorough examination and deep contemplation. And through the mess, you'll begin to see Him more clearly. Jesus prays for you, forgives and renews you, guides and keeps you.
In The Chosen Book Two, encounter Jesus the way His followers did. Explore their touching backstories. Written to accompany the hit multi-season series, each of these forty devotions contains a Scripture, a unique look into a Gospel story, suggestions for prayer, and questions that lead you further in your relationship with Christ.
What does it mean to really follow Him? To place your identity in Him. To be surrendered to His will and His way. To go where He goes and do the things He does. To be different in all the wonderful ways He was different. He knows your needs. He sees your suffering. He understands your pain. And He is perfect love, which means when life causes your soul to faint and your faith to fail, Jesus will not. He is the lover of your soul.

This is another amazing devotional that only takes a few minutes to do, but has amazing impact on your life and day to day routine. I love the second one and I’m super excited to get the third book!
I used this for my Lent devotional this year and was quite impressed with it. I generally find devotional books to be soft, fluffy, and designed to give you that quick bit of “Jesus Loves You” for day before letting you move on.
This book wasn’t that way. It wasn’t afraid to wrestle with questions about what happens when you’re feeling down, or even devastated. It dealt with real questions and raw emotions, and I appreciated that. It also had questions for every day, many of which were quite thought provoking.
I highly recommend it, and you don’t have to have watched “The Chosen” series to read or engage with this book.
This 40 day devotional inspired by season 2 of The Chosen was just as engaging and edifying as the first volume. Some days were stronger than others, as is generally the case with devotionals, but even the weaker days still provided food for thought that I could mull over as I went about my day. There were some entries that were truly excellent, to the point that I marked them to use if I ever have to fill in for my church’s youth pastor some Wednesday night. I love the voice and tone the authors settled on, and how conversational the entire book comes across to readers. These devotionals are something I would be happy to pass along to my parents, to a teen at church, or to my eight year-old niece. Anytime something can cross those generational divides, especially when it's faith-based, it’s something special.
Didn't enjoy this one as much as the first book, but I think it's because I need to take a break from devotionals and move into a more in depth Bible study!
I loved this devotional. I had gone through the first one and enjoyed it but this one was even better. It addressed many of the issues we deal with and it got my focus on the eternal, not the mess we are currently dealing with here on this earth.
It is set up in a similar fashion as the first one. It starts with God's Word. That is followed by 2-3 pages discussing God's Word and its implication for our life. This is followed by a prayer focus which takes God's Word and helps you to use it in your conversation with God. Finally, there are three questions that will get you to look more in-depth at the topic. Often this will include more verses from God's Word.
I gave Book One five stars, and I feel like this second book is like the first book squared. I feel like the authors push the reader to think more firmly about what they believe and then what they are doing about their faith. I loved the couple of readings that included personal testimony from two of the three authors. I read this book with a friend, and talking about it daily has also made me more accountable to follow up in thought and deed on what I am learning and being challenged about. I am a Chosen series fan, but I do not feel that having to watch the shows is a prerequisite to reading these devotionals. I can't wait to read Book Three, and I saw yesterday that there is a Book Four soon to be available. Go God. Great inspirational and growth producing read.
This devotional The Chosen Book Two: 40 Days with Jesus was written as an offshoot of the second season of the made-for-TV series The Chosen. If you have not watched the impactful series, it portrays the lives of Jesus and the disciples in a fresh and unique manner. However, you need not watch the series to find this well-written devotional meaningful and helpful to your spiritual life.
Each of the forty entries begins with a scripture passage, followed by the devotion. There is then a Prayer Focus which helps you reinforce the message of the devotion through prayer, and a Moving Forward section which asks you to reflect on questions that help you see the relevance of the day's message in your own life.
I look forward to reading the next devotional in this series!
I read the first Chosen devotional and was so excited to see a second! As I mentioned in my review of the first devotional, I am not a devotional person, picking up devotionals with all good intentions and then never finishing them. The Chosen devotionals are so different for me. I have finished both of them and always was eager to read them each day. The writing is down to earth, honest, challenging, straight forward, and the perfect length. The prayer encouragements and questions at the end of each chapter make each day personal and help you connect with your savior.
I have never actually been dedicated to completing a devotional series but this is the second one I have finished. I love the Chosen show and believe it has brought me closer to Jesus in a way I have never felt before. I have a Catholic background and still attend Catholic Church. I went to a Parochial grammar school and went to mad ever morning at my school. Holy Family School in Rochester NY. What this series has done for me is to make me see the apostles in a very human way. Thank you so much.
These books are lovely little daily devotionals with thoughts about living as a chosen vessel for Jesus. They don't depend on the TV series at all, so you could pick them up and read them without having seen the series. The scriptures are there at the beginning of each devotional, and the thoughts are good and deep, not trite. I quite enjoyed them both, though I think the second one may be better than the first in terms of depth.
I’ve been privileged to be able to watch The Chosen series on The Chosen app. Both the devotional and the series has made Jesus Christ, His disciples and those who followed him; women, children etc. come to life. I have, and would recommend this book to anyone and everyone.
Another good devotional by the The Chosen program team. It can be done without watching the DVDs, but again, they enhance each other. Once you're watching the show, and if you like devotionals, you'll want to do this one. If you're not watching the show, but love devotionals, this one will challenge you in a good and thought-provoking way.
Since I loved the first devotional, I was excited to get into this one. A lot of the topics are very well said and I love the honesty throughout it. There’s no fluff, it’s all out in the open and calls you to dig deeper. That’s what I love about The Chosen. If you love the tv series, you’ll love this devotional too.
The Chosen (Book 2) has been a super uplifting set of 40 devotionals that focus on getting closer to Christ and taking that closeness and sharing it in the world. It is a GREAT way to set time aside each day to think on God. I can't wait for Book 3!!
I’ve enjoyed watching The Chosen, and appreciate the real-ness of these devotions. True to life today with challenges that get me thinking instead of just nodding along.
I could not put this beautiful book down. The authors had a unique talent for interrupting scripture with today's struggles and assisting the reader to try to grasp the numerous blessings that come with loving the 3 persons of God.
This is a great little devotional. I love the scripture and the prompts to read scripture. But everyone should also watch the show; it is beyond incredible!
Better than book one. I thought the layout, organization made more sense. This book seemed to be more of the author taking the journey WITH me than book one where I was being preached AT, not with.
Another well done resource from the Chosen franchise. The writing style is engaging and challenges you to consider how the truths of scripture shape ones thinking and life.
