Starting a 90 chapter web novel before “sleeping” was probably a mistake but god was it worth it, the past hours i caught up with the webtoon and immediately read the novel (even tho the webtoon was ending soon) i needed to know what happened to Eris.
This story was pure angst, theres no “happy endings” and the characters are mostly all morally grey. The main character was a korean girl who got sucked into a story she read, and becomes the villainess. She goes through how the novel plays out, with all the twist and turns gets thrown at her. She attempts to “die” to get out of the world but it immediately corrected the term of events.
This story is brutal, filled with suffering and angst. The characters go through shit and unfairness. And the way it was written (webtoon esp) was spectacular, the fact this story had this many plottwist THAT IS RELEVANT TO THE FLOW OF THE STORY, deserves an applause. Its what made it so unique and not your typical transmigration romance (that we all still love). Definitely recommend this webtoon if youre curious of the villainess genre but dont really care for romance.
Though the romance in this was absolutely perfect in my eyes. And the ml being called anakin was just a bonus, cause theyre both hot and would die for their girl.
Status: completed Ch: 96 main, 6 side. Genre: isekai, historical romance, villainess wants to return to her world. This read was so interesting!! The fl is a big time girlboss and I love the way she handles herself in every situation and never pities herself. She had the most amazing outfits, so much variety!! Also, the way all the men were bewitched by her, she might as well have been burned at the stake. I feel like every character became a weirdo out of nowhere!! Surprise feelings, incest plot, and obsessor??? AND the way everyone wanted to kill themselves??? What was up with that?! Anyway, I wanted to see Anakhin act out more while expressing his feelings but I get he wasn't the focus. I wish we could've seen more of the Empress' feelings about her deceased son or at least develop a friendship with the fl. The panel of her kissing the Emperor with a mouthful of poison was a masterpiece. Also plot twist??? Medea's nickname/specialty being Revenge???? Author ate with that one, really good take. AND exposing all the other people the witch secretly made deals with, phenomenal. I'm curious about the storyline of the "new God" so I'm hoping for a sequel but who knows.

I am very conflicted with this novel. On one point, I loved it but I also find a lot of parts of it not very enjoyable.
Let's start with the parts I liked.
1. The main character, Eris Miserian, is a very intense and serious character. There were no jokes and funny moments in this novel. I hate it when the character is clumsy or trying to be funny. I especially despise it whenever the artist turns them into chibi characters or memes (Like in Miss Not-so-sidekick). I wanted a no laughter, dramatic, in your face, story. I want it to be serious but not boring. I want a Sophie's Choice type of novel in the way that it is keeping the reader tense because so many serious things are happening but it is not boring.
2. I AM GLAD THAT THIS IS NOT ANOTHER "I WAS REINCARNATED AS THE VILLAINESS AND IT IS MY JOB TO REFORM HER CHARACTER." I read a lot of Isekai novels and most of them are about the villainess being turned to good. Finally, a novel where the main character embraced her dark side. She knows she is not a benevolent person and she makes no effort to change it. I love that Eris was very haughty, she slaps people beneath her, and she was harsh towards the supposed heroine of the story, Helena. Don't get me wrong, Eris was not unreasonably cruel. She is just an aristocrat and if someone is standing in her way, she would not hesitate to crush them. I hate it when the main character is too nice that it is as if they are filing a candidacy to be a saint.
3. I was happy that in the end, it became a reverse harem where all the main leads were starting to become obsessed with her. The first three love interests disliked her in the beginning but towards the end, they all wanted to possess her. That is my kind of heroine, so beautiful and alluring that they can't help but want her.
Now on to what I didn't like.
1. Eris (or at least the soul that entered her body) was stupid to want to go back to her own mundane world. Whenever I read isekai novels where the lead wants to go back even though she reincarnated into someone absolutely gorgeous, rich, smart, and royalty to boot, I want to shake some sense into them. If I were in their shoes, GOODBYE PREVIOUS LIFE! I AM NOW AN EMPRESS AND THAT IS HOW IT SHOULD BE. I will fight with a tooth and nail to clung to my current life. I was so upset that Eris kept wanting to die so she could go back. It is like seeing someone who is already sleeping on a cushy mattress but wanting to go back to sleeping on the floor. Stupid, so stupid.
It is not as if there were people who loved her in her own world. She said so herself that her parents like her brother more than her. Now in her current world, while her father didn't necessarily love her to bits, she was at least spoiled rotten by luxury.
2. There was a scene where the prince slapped Eris. While it was explained that she would have been locked up if she retaliated, I would still have slapped him right back HARDER if I was Eris. She knew she couldn't die anyway and what was there to lose? I will never allow myself to be brought down in such a way. I will always avenge myself.
3. While I did like Anakhin for being such a loyal knight to Eris, I still wish he turned out to be a prince or a long lost bastard son of the emperor. I guess it wouldn't really matter since Eris would eventually return to her own world, but again if I was brought to a fantasy world where I am a rich member of the nobility, thinking about going home will not be in my mind at all.
4. I wish Anakhin failed to destroy her body. I was wishing that Eris's plan will be foiled and she will be brought back to life and forever trapped in that fantasy world. I still wish that there was an alternate ending!
5. Yes, the prince tried to r@pe her but I was hoping it will be successful and she did get pregnant but she eventually falls for the prince and the prince falls for her. I wouldn't even mind if she and Jason ended up together or even the priest (although he was my least option since he and Eris were siblings but hey, they aren't siblings spiritually).
Anyway, I still enjoyed the novel because everything was exciting up to the end.
I've been reading manhwa/novels where FL gets isekai-d. It's been a theme in the manga/manhwa world for the past couple of years but this year is the first time I really tried to read them. I usually don't like historical setting too. But with the manhwas I have read, I adore them. Lol. So, okay. I read right maybe 20 plus manhwa where the FL gets isekaid to a novel/book they have read. They know how the story goes, and most of the time they go against their OG characters behavior.
This manhwa (I didn't read the novel version but I'm lazy to add the manhwa volumes individually here in GR), is new to me. I have seen this title be recommended a lot of times already. This is also a first to me where the FL actively tries to go back to her own world. Most of the time, the FL in the manhwas I have read are just accepting the situation where they live the character of the book they are in. Maybe because she didn't really die in her own world? Maybe.
I got so annoyed with Helena first lol. She's too kind. But once the manhwa shown her backstory? Ahhhh, gets. lol. Also, the three guys who like Helena? Despicable human beings. Eww. Like I am so glad that Helena became like that at the Epilogue. I'm also so happy with Anakhin and Eris' ending. She got to die finally and he got to go to her world. My heart is so happy for them. The only man in this novel who is good is Anakhin. All the others are scums. I rolled my eyes a lot with them. Like a LOT. Because ugh, they 'liked' Eris suddenly. All those three men who originally like Helena, suddenly tries to get with Eris. Anakhin should've killed them like as soon as he was appointed. -.-
So glad I read this when it's already completed and I don't have to wait for new chapters. :D

Overview - a women (we don’t get her name) finds her self reincarnated into the body of the villainess from the romance novel she read. Now as Eris, she discovers she can’t escape and must follow the plot of the original novel.
What really stood out to me is Eris’s character. I’ve seen people criticize her for being too selfish and narcissistic, however they fail to recognize that she always carries the weight of uncertainty. I like that she is raw, not afraid to show emotion and acts for herself. It’s so refreshing compared to other generic main characters, in this context, her flaws turn into a strength.😛✌️
In addition, I think Anakin is such an interesting character. His main theme is salvation - the act of being saved from a bad situation. From the side stories, we see that he was raised in an orphanage and eventually got into knighthood via recommendation. What I find so appalling is his loyalty and devotion to Eris, even if he was only used at the beginning. I think this shows us that not matter what, having a purpose grounds us and gives us a path. I’ve seen some people say that Anakin is plain or boring, but to me I think it’s a clever play on generic male leads, who are often so grandeur. Especially since we get to see his perspective from the side stories. I love Anakin sm guys 😭😭🙁
I think the one thing limiting it from 5 stars is the pacing. I started reading this manhwa early last year but only managed to finished it now. I stopped around chapter 30-ish because it was lowkey kinda boring 😭😭😭 but other than that I think the stakes were really good after that arc and it had a lot of the ‘will they, won’t they’ll aspect.
for a manhwa I think this was good but for an actual book I personally think this was extremely mid. the male lead had no personality and was essentially just a plot device, all the men in this were in love with the mc for absolutely no reason. like despite hating her for years before hand, now that she's dead they're all sad. I think the premise was unique enough I just wish it actually excuted the bits with dragon and the more fantastical parts of its narrative. I also think the ending was quite boring. I think the cardinal rule of a plan like this is either A. the reader can't know everything until it happens (e.g. the guys wanting to revive her dead body) or B. it can't go exactly as planned. This did neither and instead eveeyhring u though would happen did. I did Like the women in this, I think it's quite interesting esp the original female lead who I would love to see something from her perspective as I think she's the best character in this series and I would prefer an ending where she became god instead of the child.

I don’t think I’ve ever hated characters more than the crown prince, the dragon slayer and the high priest. First I’m happy they all have a bad ending cause fuck them. Helene is a girl boss and deserve the world. Anakin is the greatest flag of all. He’s literally perfect. The sorry is pure angst and as for the ending you could clearly say that most of the characters that deserved a happy ending don’t really have one ( Helene for exemple she deserve way better). The sorry is beautifully written and the plot twits omg I can’t get over it. Iris is such a beautifully written mc and she deserves the fucking world. When the prince was going to rape her, I was so happy that she killed him(sadly they got back in time but still). Iris is really one of the best written characters I’ve seen. I think I’ve cried a lot while reading this like at least 5 times or more.

I really loved every part of the story. At the beginning I thought why does she want to return when she had everything but eventually i realised that it was the best for her and then again i thought of the other stories where the protagonists started from cero and everything is a bed of roses and then we have Eris she was different for the better and i love her for that! dude. Baby I really love your determination not just because. I have many reasons one of them is that even you found your lover you do not reject your plans although you suffer a lot you did not gave up or throw the towel, you just had Anakin who cheer you up. At the end it happened what you want.
On the positive side, this one has a unique take on the attitude of our protagonist isekaied into a different realm. Eris 2.0 is depressed with the fatalism of her new life, wants nothing to do with the male lead, and rejects what many characters say/do. It occasionally presents an interesting quote about expectations, forcing our feelings onto others, and blame. However the quick pacing and untransitioned flashbacks often mitigate character development. Several times events reset to give a different POV without actually explaining new information, events, or explanations. Finally the ending does resolve much. Overall a little disappointing.

Everyone dreams of someone who will love themselves unconditionally at least once. Unrequited and unconditional love clearly differ. Unrequited love can end alone, but unconditional love sometimes can't. If I met a bad person, I could have been trotted with hopes. And it drives people insane.
Humans don't want love, but they want to be loved, and when they get used to the unconditional grace they receive, they would use it recklessly.
I will never recover from this I finished this in two days I can't believe it.. I loved it and unfortunately I couldn't stop cursing every single male character but akanin my sweet heart.......
I'd say the novel was 3.5 stars; comic so far (ch 91- we're almost there!) Was a solid 5 stars.
It's been a while since I read the novel, so it's hard to write a clear review, but I remember disliking the way the drama was all written by alternating perspectives in first person pov. It made it angstier (is that a word?) But it also made the story drag on quite a bit.
The comic fixed the pacing issues while keeping a good amount of angst and is honestly one of the best webcomics I've read. All in all, I love the story and definitely recommend it.
I cried so hard the entire time, but especially at the end. I cried so much that my chest hurts, but it was worth it, I think it's an excellent light novel (and it's not as light as I assumed).
Now I'm going to watch Stand Up Comedy or something that makes me laugh because I need it after so much angst.
i hate the other ml (except anakin bcs he's the best boy ever)... like why did they do that in the first place.... trying to revive eris... even eris really wanna die and go back to her own world BUT OVERALL I DO REALLY LIKE THIS NOVEL BCS THE ANGST WAS immaculate

LOVED LOVED LOVED THIS!!! it is genuinely so different from other novels/manhwa’s that i’ve read regarding how the fl wanted to go back home and the lengths she had to go through just to do so. anakan was so JDJDJDJ like wow i loved him and how he really cared for her🫶🏻
one of the greatest manhwas i have ever read so far. this will surely leave a mark on me forever. i will never forget it. this is my favorite manhwa and will always be one of my favorites. thank you for the memorable journey.
Very refreshing take on the girl finds herself trapped in a new unknown world. She embraces her role in the story and never gives up on her one goal to return home.
The only thing that kept me from tossing it aside is the love between the outsider and akanin. The rest is nothing but a chaos . You can't believe how much incredible that man is .
