Was browsing the library on my off day, feeling a little down from work stress and decided to go to the mental health section.
Picked up this small book to-go, I initially. But found a cozy reading area and decided to finish it anyways.
“Are these just thoughts or are they facts?”
We always have to ask ourselves this question when the negative mentality kicks in. It’s the simplest way I can sum this up. Comes with worksheets downloadable, for you to track your negative thoughts and guides you on ways to overcome them.
Definitely worth reading, as I’ve been struggling with esteem and anxiety all my life. Recommended.
Pros: Asked some interesting questions that made me reflect on my self esteem and self worth.
An easy read for someone wanting to begin a self help journey or read a self help book, without being too complicated and medical.
Cons: Introduces the idea of cycles and CBT as if a new idea they invented, but without naming it as CBT. And found it repeatedly condemned young parents, single parents and struggling parents for the cause of low self esteem.
Would I recommend? I don’t think I would recommend it to someone of my gen, but would recommend for an older person or someone who perhaps has never read this sort of material before.
