Very interesting fantasy series
The book has three stories together chronicling Jacob’s life as the heir of the kingdom where magic runs through. Jacob’s introduction to the world was well brought out. The world building through the three stories was great and I enjoyed it. The later story developments as Jacob tries to balance his life as the true heir and his real life is brought out well. The third story marks Jacob’s interests and how the story develops with more characters within the world built. Enjoyed it.

I totally adored Andrea Pearson’s Kilenya Chronicles and read (gobbled up) each book as it became available for download. And now there’s a boxset of books 1-3. I wish I’d had that from the start as it sure is convenient. For those new to this wonderful literary world, here are my reviews of those three books.
Forsaken Prince (Kilenya Chronicles Book 1)
I actually read the original version of this book, The Key of Kilenya, way back when it came out. I loved that so I couldn’t resist getting this one when it came out. I’m glad I did. The original one (still available) was perfectly designed and appropriate for a middle school audience, even though adults could enjoy it, the same way as I totally enjoyed the Harry Potter and Percy Jackson books my son read at that age. This book is designed to be a grown up, matured version of that tale. It’s plot, while clearly based on the earlier version, is significantly changed. This is both in minor details and in more obvious plot details. The minor changes, such as its lead character, Jacob, starting out a few years older (16 instead of 14), can actually be pretty significant. The author is being subtle here as this enables that character to legitimately have more mature thoughts in general and to have have more mature romantic and other drivers behind his actions. The more obvious changes really do change major parts of the storyline, things like Jacob’s dad and sister getting kidnapped by the Lorkon, and Aloren being hired to bring Jacob to the Makalos. Despite these changes the basic fabric of the story, with its sense of wonder, excitement and adventure, is preserved. That’s a very good thing as this now very much revised tale is a very wonderful story. For those who read the original before I definitely recommend this new, if clearly related, story. For newcomers, you’re in for a treat. Personally I’m looking forward to seeing what’s been done to the other books. Highly recommended.
Ember Gods (Kilenya Chronicles Book 2)
I loved the original Ember Gods, book 2 of Andrea Pearson’s original Kilenya series (which can still be purchased on Kindle). This despite that fact that I was already several multiple times it’s targeted middle school aged audience. It was a magical tale with a gripping story that held me just as much as similarly targeted stories (Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, et al) managed to do. Now the author has done a remake of that story for her new Kilenya Chronicles, which is target at a young adult and mature adult audience. This is no simple editing of ages with minor tweaks. Instead it is a substantial rewrite, and yet it holds true to that original story and still gives the reader that same sense of wonder. The cast of (somewhat older) characters is wonderfully crafted (with matured emotions and approach to relationships, life crises, etc) and the plot works beautifully and is very (very) well written. I can’t tell which version I prefer, but I can say they are both superb and I’m happy to highly recommend this book (though it’s best to read book 1 in the series first).
August Fortress (Kilenya Chronicles Book 3)
This is book three of the Kilenya series, and I strongly recommend reading the first two books in the series before this one. Having said that, it's a highly addictive series so I doubt anyone will have any problems doing that. As with the prior books, August Fortress is s great book of magical adventures with strong characters that continue to develop and a neat storyline. A really fun read no matter what your age is, and easy to recommend.

If you like fantasy, magic and adventure, you will like this series. Forsaken Prince is the first book in the Kilenya Chronicles series. This is an updated version of The Key to Kilenya series which was geared more towards middle schoolers. You can read this book as a standalone, but it does set the stage for future books. And luckily for you, this set contains the first three books in the series so it is easy to read them in order. There is violence and use of magic.
The book blurb adequately describes the storylines so I'm not going to repeat all of that info here. The characters are well written and multidimensional. The author does a good job of keeping a steady pace throughout the book to keep this reader interested. It keeps you guessing what twists and turns will be revealed in the pages ahead. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the rest of the books in the Kilenya Chronicles series.

This book is a good and fast read. It took me a little under a day to read them. They are good for a tween-teen age child of either gender. The characters seem like someone you could see on the street. The main character seems like a normal teenager trying to juggle a lot of things at once. I will admit though as a adult sometimes i wanted to smack Jacob and the female lead a few times. But I truly did enjoy the book. I look forward to reading the rest of the series and other things from this author.

These first three books see Jacob developing his powers as he and a band of loyal followers fight to save his family, battle invisible monsters, and try to save the kingdom of Eklaron.
This is an excellent series! I can't wait to read the next books.

Jacob is a typical teenager. All he wants is to hang out with his friends, play basketball and make the varsity team. He learns that he is a Prince from another world and they need help from him. Jacob embarks on one adventure after another with new people and fantastic creatures.
This story switches from this planet to his original one with all types of trials and successes. I really enjoyed the variety of creatures and new skills that Jacob discovers.

So far the story has kept my attention. I look forward to reading the rest of the story. It does seem odd that Jacob was given these powers instead of his father. There are a lot of good characters with different abilities. I like the fat lady she is a strange character. I would recommend these books to anyone that like fantasy type stories. I picked this rating because it is a good story.

DNF. I got 9% of the way into the box set, about chapter 15 in book one. I just wasn’t into the series. And there were some places where the world building was so extensive and I didn’t really catch it because it was just too much. I think a few years ago, when this was first added to my Kindle, I probably would’ve enjoyed it. But it has languished on my Kindle for many years and I’m just not into YA fantasy stories like this anymore.

This is a must read series! I read the books when they first came out and again after they have been reworked. I thoroughly enjoyed them both times. Jacob learns he is a prince of another world and that; that world is in trouble. Follow along with his adventures as he tries to fight the Lorken and save this wonderful world!

I real all these books separately and rated them that way as well. This is a YA series revolving around Jacob and him finding out he’s not from Earth and that he’s a prince and has to save his family. Andrea does a great job at world building and really taking you into the world. The descriptions are great. If you are a YA fan or have a younger reader this is a great series about magic.

Realistic fantasy
I enjoyed this fantasy series. The worldbuilding and magic is interesting, and the action and adventure keep things moving, but what stood out to me about thus particular series was how real the reality part is. Jacob isn't only a hero, he's also a teenaged boy. I think the real draw to this series is seeing the mesh between reality and fantasy.

Characters were very shallow, not fully developed so rather flat as an adult read. I think kids would really like the series. No bad language or sexual context. Spelling, word usage and grammar above average especially for a freebie.

What an amazing series of books. Jacob is busy with school and work, doesn’t really believe in magic. When a mysterious girl tell him he has magic, doesn’t quite know what she’s talking about. Definitely keeps you interested.

Okay, I made it through the books, but barely. The mix of events on Earth and Kilenya seemed a bit odd. Too much crossing between the worlds to be believable. The characterizations were a bit weak and one dimensional.

Jacob's destiny
I really enjoyed the book, the characters, and the plot. It was very well written and kept true to the plot. Most chapters.had something going on all the time. I read it so fast because I really wanted to know what was happing next.

Fantastical ....
My middle schooler and I enjoyed listening to this story together. It was very easy to visualize and we created the scenes together. It was fantasy set in our reality.

I really liked the three books that I read so far. I just read through them as one book story. Very entertaining and full of events. The pace of the events are great; not so fast and not slow. I do recommend reading these series. I am looking forward to reading books 4-6.

Great story
As an adult reading this there was a tad of the book that got old but as a teen I can see all of that being enjoyable. I very much enjoyed the story!
