This is the fifth book in the WOLF RANCH series, and unfortunately I didn't enjoy it as much as I have the previous books. Personally, I found it hard to really connect with Charlie and understand how she got caught up in the mess that she did. Maybe it's because I am also a licensed professional in the veterinary field and could not even imagine doing what she did, but I just never connected with her. I take my license very seriously and would never do anything to jeopardize it or my career, so I found myself unable to fully fall into the "fictional" aspect of this book.
Another thing that bothered me was that Charlie never saw any repercussions from her actions. Even though she was coerced by Dax, she still makes a pretty terrible decision in supplying him with controlled drugs which he then turns around to sell. It's stated multiple times that ketamine is used as a date rape drug, but we never see Charlie really being punished for this or forced to see the consequences of her cowardice. It's simply brushed over by pretty much everyone simply because she's Levi's mate, and la-di-da everyone lives happily ever after, which is unrealistic.
I don't see myself rereading this book as I couldn't condone or empathize with Charlie's actions. However, I still love this series overall and recommend them ♡
*ARC provided by L. Woods PR, and I voluntarily reviewed it*
I've completely forgotten about this series, but got back to it the other day.
This one was hot and kinky and sweet enough, as the whole series is, but I can't really get on board with how naive and shortsighted the heroine was. For an adult and a vet, who clearly loved her job, she surely acted careless with her license in a very immature way. The main conflicted was resolved horribly, basically just brushed aside the way I wasn't comfortable with.
I am a huge fan of paranormal romance. I love the whole fated mates and insta love as much as I love the growling, alpha mine. But I don't read nearly enough of it, partially because it can be a little monotonous and a little hit and miss. It's easy to veer into the cheesy when it's based on make believe or to go too over the top.
So when this series first caught my eye, literally the cover just called to me I ended up one clicking it. Which is unusual for me at the minute with the reading commitments I already have and the hundreds of books waiting on my kindle and my KU membership I normally talk myself out of buying more books. But I couldn't resist this series and I absolutely binged them. And now I jump on each new release.
I had no idea who this book was about before I started it and I didn't even glance at the blurb. And to be honest I don't really pay a lot of attention to the secondary characters unless they jump out at me so I only vaguely remember Levi. I was expecting the book to be about one of the more involved pack members.
And when they first started talking about the vet named Charlie I got all excited for a MM shifter story. Only to quickly realise that Charlie was all woman. I loved the chemistry between her and Levi. They were complete individually which made them more interesting to me. And together they were a great compliment to each other.
This series just keeps me hooked and I can't wait to see who's next and to see the pack members we've already met continue with their happily ever after
Break out the handcuffs and cuff me to Levi! ****** Overall Rating: 4 stars Kindle Unlimited: No Standalone: Yes Steam: 4 flames Triggers: No ****** In book 5 we meet Levi. Levi is quiet, keeps to himself, and has a lot of baggage, especially when it comes to humans. He has suffered in his life. His parents were killed because they were a mixed-species couple, shifter/human and Levi, a half-shifter, was sent to live with his grandparents. His grandparents hated everything about shifters and blamed his shifter father for their daughter’s death. Levi definitely has issues when it comes to humans. So, when he finds out some fancy horse breeder is sending his vet down to Wolf Ranch to oversee the breeding of his mare, Levi is not happy about having to share his space in the bunkhouse with a human. That is, until the vet arrives. Guess what...Charlie is a woman. A beautiful, intelligent, and wonderful woman. But Charlie has baggage too. She is being blackmailed and is in trouble, add to that she is trying to take care of her ailing grandfather and she has her hands full. What she does not expect is to have her hands full of a cowboy on Wolf Ranch, but the chemistry is off the charts and when they meet, Levi stakes his claim. However, Charlie will only be on the ranch for 2 weeks...what kind of relationship can these too have? Hmmm....well, all I can say is save a horse ride a cowboy. Can their chemistry survive the two-week expiration date? Can Levi let a human into his heart? Can Charlie, let a man in to her world that is turned upside down right now? I will not tell. What I will tell you is that this book is filled with steam, all my favorite characters from Wolf Ranch, and a brand-new couple for me to fall in love with. The story was hot with a side of suspense. I am thoroughly enjoying this series and cannot wait for the next book. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes hot cowboys, handcuffs, shifters and their fated mates, secrets, and suspense. Happy reading!
Another great addition to the Wolf Ranch Series and yet, it is a fresh new story with a few people from previous stories. In this one, it will bring ranch hand and fill in sheriff, Levi, and veterinarian, Charlie, to meeting one another. Charlie is only to be at Wolf Ranch for two weeks while she monitors the mare she has brought there for breeding. The chemistry between Levi and Charlie, along with the mystery, suspense, angst, and passion, keeps the pages turning.
Levi is a half shifter, half-human, but he is also bitter towards humans, based on his human grandparents. Living at Wolf Ranch, he is accepted---even if he has never shifted; he is welcome. So when Levi hears of a human coming for two weeks, and they will be staying in the bunkhouse, he is not happy. Oh, how things change quickly when he meets Charlie, and it is a female.
Charlie takes her job seriously but is also looking forward to a change of pace while at Wolf Ranch. Meeting a hot cowboy, Levi, and when he lets it be known he is attracted to her, she decides to go for it, after all, this is just a two-week visit.
“He’s hot. Lumberjack. Viking.Caveman. Cowboy. All rolled into one Wrangler-wearing package.”
The story is full of new experiences for Charlie, and the romps between her and Levi. It will also have problems back home following her to Montana, between a coworker and her aging grandfather with dementia. She is dealing with trouble, threats, and danger. The story has the good, the bad, and the ugly of people, and Charlie is caught in a nasty mess. Keeping secrets hasn’t helped, but what is she going to do?
“Sometimes, people get themselves into things without fully understand the consequences.”
When Charlie leaves, how will Levi cope with her disappearance? This was only a two-week affair, but why is his wolf not happy---even if said wolf has never made a physical appearance. Does Charlie mean more to him than just an affair? Is she in some kind of trouble and needs his help, or has she played him for a fool? Could she be his mate? How far are they willing to go? Will she move to Montana or him to Colorado and take this further?
“All I knew was that we have mad chemistry. That I was happier when I was near you. That making you feel good became my calling. “
Fierce by Renee Rose & Vanessa Vale is the 5th book in the Wolf Rance series. This is Levi and Charlie's story. Levi is a half wolf shifter who was raised by his human grandparents who hated his shifter side. As soon as he was able, he left them and stayed around shifters like him. He never forgot how he felt and Levi made sure to never be around another human. Things change when Charlie, the new veterinarian shows up at the ranch. She's human and she's very sweet, smart, hardworking and sassy. She's only at the ranch for 2 weeks but she and Levi have this instant, intense chemistry. Their relationship starts based off a phone call and goes from there. I don't want to give anymore away. There's twists and turns that take place, lots of fun, passion, drama and paranormal romance. Great ending!
Fierce is the fifth book in the Wolf Ranch series by Renee Rose and Vanessa Vale. Each book is a stand-alone, but I would recommend reading the books in order because this book contained spoilers about what happened in the previous four and especially about the story of Feral (book #3). I have to admit that Feral was the best in the series so far with Savage coming to a very close second.
It's not like this book was bad, but I had a couple of issues with it. The biggest one was Charlie's secret. I don't want to say much, so I will keep it to the minimum. Since it is revealed early on, Charlie has ordered a large amount of Ketamine that's going to be sold as a drug. I found the reason behind her actions to be weak as a motive she should have acted in a more reasonable way.
Another thing that bothered me is this line from the blurb "But I knew the first time I caught her scent she belonged to me." The problem is that Levi has not shifted into a wolf not even once in his life and he is not 100% certain that she is his mate, so he is holding a little bit back. He still has the possessive traits a wolf does and I liked him a lot.
The book had some good and some bad points. For me it's the weakest in the series, but overall it wasn't bad. Just not as good as the others.
'Fierce' is the fifth part of the 'Wolf Ranch' series by Venessa Vale and Renee Rose. This is Charlie and Levi's story.
I have been hooked into this series , pretty much right from the start and have loved every part of it! There are this special kinky scenes that every book of Renee Rose contains , and I love to read those! Both Levi and Charlie were amazing and I enjoyed this book a lot.
There was one thing that I didn't like in this book and it was that Charlie was a bit of fool. She gave away those drugs and didn't even think what would happen. Moreover , no one even blamed her for it and she got a pass for everything because she was Levi's mate. That just did not make sense to me. Other than that this book was perfection , and I love these characters so much and hope to see more books from this series in the future!!!
A huge thank you to Elle Woods PR and the authors for the advance copy. I volunteered to leave an honest review. My review has not been influenced in any way.I really love the way this author duo writes shifters. I can't explain it except to say it's so easy to sink into the world and let the words take you away. Add in cowboys and a wicked mystery plot?! Then you got me really hooked. This had a whole lot of upside and I'm now looking forward to reading the one's in this series I've missed. I had a lot of fun with this and Charlie is a strong heroine who dealt with a lot and took a lot in her stride. Levi our hero also had some baggage. Their story was a lot of fun.
Levi is half shifter/half human and loves living on Wolf Ranch, until he learns that he must share the bunkhouse with Charlie a female vet. What will happen when Levi discovers that she is his mate. Fast-paced read with lots of drama, suspense and twist and turns. The chemistry is intense and the story is entertaining. A loved it!
Wonderful addition to the Wolf Ranch series, totally blown away This is a totally riveting read that once you begin reading you will find it simply impossible to put down until you have reached the last page and discovered the simply amazing outcome. I do not want to spoil the story because I have to say that the characters were simply wonderful and the storyline had been so well written that you will be drawn right in. Levi is a cowboy on a Wolf Ranch and is also in the process of changing his job to the local sheriff and he was well respected by the town folk and had been living on the ranch since he had turned eighteen and left his grandparents who had taken him in when his parents had been killed, however as he had been half wolf shifter they had been totally against shifters and had prohibited him from shifting and also mixing with his own kind and this has a lasting effect of his abilities, he had never been able to shift even though he had been able to feel his own inner wolf. When Charlie had come out to Wolf ranch for the supervision of the mating of her bosses thoroughbred mare to the Wolf brother stallion everyone had thought that the vet was going to be a male. Imagine Levi’s surprise when it turned out that in fact, she was a beautiful ebony skinned beauty that he had been attracted to, they had started to see each other and well all bets were off. The story has plenty of twists and turns and I can assure readers that they will be totally drawn in to this story and as I do not want to give anything away all I can say is that there are so many things happening in this story that you will not be able to put this book down, it just impossible. I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
Another good installment to the Wolf Ranch series. I have one regret, and that is I wish the book had been longer.
I liked Levi and Charlie together. They had chemistry, and they seemed to click from the very beginning. I also liked that Levi worked off the ranch in a position of authority. I thought that added a little something extra to his situation of being a half shifter..
I felt for Charlie and the predicament she found herself in with Dax. She seemed to be straightforward and intelligent when it came to her job. What I did wonder about was how she managed to get herself trapped, I'm glad it was explained later, because it made more sense given her personality. I also appreciated the diversity that appeared in the book.
I could not figure out how Charlie was going to get out of the situation unscathed, but, leave it to 2 talented writers to come up with a twist I hadn't thought of for Charlie. Simple, easy, and to the point. I also appreciate seeing how each "mate" in the series handles finding out the other person is actually a wolf shifter.
I appreciated the epilogue. I'm a big fan of epilogues. An additional plus was the bonus content. I admit, I'm just greedy. I wish we could have spent more time with Levi and Chatlie beyond the bonus material. The question is, "Did they ever take that next step?"
A sweet, sexy romance with a bit of intrigue and suspense.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book received via BookFunnel.
Fierce is the fifth book in the Wolf Ranch series, but could be read as a stand alone. Levi is only half wolf with a dislike of humans, so when he has to share the bunkhouse with a vet for two weeks, he’s irritated... that is until he realizes Charlie is a girl and he’s completely drawn to her. Charlie is enamored with Levi, but she’s hiding a terrible secret and shame. When her secret comes out, will Levi leave her, or will the big bad wolf come to her rescue?
I really enjoyed reading this book! Levi and Charlie have so much chemistry, in and out of the bedroom, and I absolutely loved them together. Charlie is a charming mix between being shy yet bold, always trying to put on a professional front, yet she loves the way Wolf Ranch feels like a family instead of just work. I also loved that while she was a virgin, she had a bunch of passion and love and adventure in her heart! Levi was perfect for her, offering a steady rock during her storms, one to give her the passion and adventure she craves, and one to stand by her side when she needs it most. I loved them together! There’s a lot of drama, secrets, and blackmail that kept me wanting to keep reading, but I loved the focus on Levi and Charlie and the connection that forms between them! While this wasn’t my favorite book in this series, Levi and Charlie definitely deserve a read!
If you have read the other books in the Wolf Ranch series this one is a little different. Levi was raised by his mother's human parents who did not approve of his wolf side after his parents were killed. This has lead to him not being able to shift and not having all of his wolf abilities, mainly being able to identify his mate with one smell. That said when the vet that is due to stay in the bunkhouse shows up and is very much a woman even tough her name is Charlie he knows there is a connection.
Charlie is a woman in a male dominated world so she keeps things buttoned up and under control. That is until she finds herself in a bit of trouble back home. She's hoping that the chance to take a horse to be breed States away will give her preceptive and figure a way out of her mess. What she finds is one steaming hot and even more hot for her cowboy who won't take no for an answer. Not that she is protesting that much.
What unfolds pulls Charlie and Levi into some trouble but also into love.
I really liked this switch up of the normal shifter story and the interactions between Levi and Charlie were beyond hot.
Levi is a half-human half-wolf hybrid who has never shifted. He was raised by his grandparents who made him subvert his wolf side...but when he came to Wolf Ranch, he had his freedom from their restraints but had still never shifted, although he could sometimes hear the wolf inside him...he was acting Sheriff of Cooper Valley since the previous Sheriff had a heart attack and retired...he was the man for the job and would become Sheriff in next election. He worked at both jobs and the pack was happy that someone with shifter blood was in law enforcement...then Charlie came to ranch to make sure a rich man's horse was hand bred with a Wolf Ranch stallion...but Charlie was a woman vet who Levi fell instantly for...she was buttoned up, with pressed jeans and even makeup to breed a horse..and she was a 30 year old virgin who looked after her grandfather, Pops, who was falling into memory loss...Charlie was being blackmailed back in Colorado and she didn't know how put a stop to it, but a two week fling with a sexy cowboy may give her some ideas...but you will need to read this page turner to see what happens...I voluntarily read this book through an Advanced Reader Copy.
I love Vanessa Vale and Renee Rose, and together they are fantastic. This Wolf Ranch book is intense and addictive.
When Levi hears he has to share the bunkhouse with a human he is adamantly against it because he is still affected by the four years he was forced to live with humans as a teenager after his parents were killed. When he and his wolf get a look at Charlie the gorgeous female vet they quickly insist she will be staying in the bunkhouse with him and him alone!
Charlie is overwhelmed seeing the large, sexy cowboy sheriff, but she knows living in close quarters with a lawman isn’t smart. A phone call the next day with her BFF convinces Charlie to live a little and have some fun with the sexy ranch hand, punching her VCard is on her agenda. When Levi’s overhears Charlie’s end of the conversation with his super shifter hearing he is intensely aroused to learn she’s a virgin and interested in riding him. He proposes a 14 night fling where he teaches her all about what she’s been missing.
Their relationship quickly goes from just sex to strong emotions. The authors have some twists and bumps for the lovers to overcome during a quick yet throughly enjoyable read.
I received an ARC and voluntarily posted my review.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I am absolutely loving this series by Vanessa Vale and Renee Rose so much! You don’t have to be a fan of shifter romances to enjoy this series - absolute not! You just need to love a good InstaLove - alpha male - sassy female romance. The shifter part is an added bonus - it’s the icing on the cake!
Fierce is Book 5 of the Wolf Ranch series and it centers around half shifter Levi (his dad was a shifter, his mom was human) who has never in his 33 years shifted and sexy veterinarian Charlie, self proclaimed oldest virgin alive (she’s 30). He may never have taken wolf form, but Levi exhibits all male shifter tendencies when it comes to his mate, even if he’s in denial about her being human. Charlie for her part is totally captivated by the big burly cowboy and decides to have some fun with her willing roommate.
It doesn’t take long for the possessive nature of the beast to come out and take charge. Levi and Charlie are fated to be together and although neither was expecting to find their person, they give into it, overcome the obstacles and get their HOT happily ever after. Be sure to TBR Books 1-4 along with this one because trust me, you’re going to love each and every sexy shifter cowboy, I guarantee it!
Levi is the town sheriff and part time ranch hand for Wolfe Ranch. He is also part shifter but you wouldn’t know it since his wolf has not shown himself. He has his reasons. But when he gets a look are Charlie he starts to wonder if she is his mate. He can’t scent her. Charlie is at Wolfe’s Ranch to have mare breed by one of their stallions for her customer. But she as a big issue. Someone is blackmailing her back home and she can’t get away from him. When she meets Levi there is chemistry but with him be sheriff, she needs to stay clear. But temptation is going to draw her to him and danger is around the corner. You have to love that Levi was a pain in the butt. He just knew there was something about Charlie that he wanted. But her being human, that was going to be tough. Charlie had secrets and didn’t want to lose her license to practice but Levi was giving her all kinds of dirty fantasies. What was a surprise was that she still had her Vcard at her age. I can’t say it was a major surprise for me. I was in that boat too. Along with a loved one having dementia. Even though Levi couldn’t smell his mate his heart was making up for it. Such a great series.
My favorite Wolf Ranch book so far. I loved both Levi and Charlie. While both are strong independent individuals. They also struggle with feelings of not being enough. I won’t tell you what those are you need to read the book. So not only do they connect on a physical level. They can relate to each other’s feelings of inadequacies. The chemistry that flows and swirls around Levi and Charlie is undeniably. Like a current of electricity ready to strike. Levi is awesome. The strong handsome silent type. Even before knowing that Charlie was his mate,he was fiercely protective of her. And felt a strong bond in his heart for her. Again even without realizing she was his mate he was absolutely devoted to her. Charlie was an amazing woman. She’s strong and smart and facing more than one obstacle in the profession she choose. I love seeing heroines that are more than just a pretty face. But face and deal with what real people face in their lives. And of course there is plenty of sexy and hotness to go along with the drama in the story!
Fierce by Renee Rose & Vanessa Vale is book 5 in the Wolf Rance Series. This is the story of Levi and Charlie. I have read the previous books which did add to my enjoyment of this one, but I did feel you can easily make this a standalone book. Levi is a half wolf shifter who after the death of his parents was raised by his grandparents that hated his wolf shifter side. Of course as soon as he could he left them but always carried the feeling of not wanting to be around humans. Of course that starts to change when Charlie comes to the Ranch. Charlie is a hardworking veterinarian who is taking care of her grandfather. But Charlie has fallen victim to a blackmail scheme. I enjoyed this spicy read. 0
This is the 5th book in the Wolf Ranch series but it can definitely be read as a standalone novel. But why wouldn't you want more of these cowboys that also happen to be shifters? Levi never thought he'd want a human for a mate but then he's seen both the good and the bad of shifter/human pairs. But then everything changes once he gets to know Charlie. And then when he finds Charlie in danger, nothing will ever be the same, for either of them! Once again Vanessa Vale and Renee Rose have written a fast paced shifter romance with plenty of heat that will have you not wanting to put down your Kindle. Looking forward to even more of this series.
“This series keep getting better and better. Let’s be honest who doesn’t love a cowboy plus if he happened to be a shifter too? I know right?! It’s quite impossible to resist them and Levi wasn’t the exception. Both authors have something special in their writings that you can’t leave their stories once you started them. The whole plot was addictive and engaging with the mix of ups and downs. Fierce was a humorous, hot, sexy and romantic story between Sheriff Levi and the new vet, Charlie. It was such a great read as expected. Highly recommended!”
I really liked how smitten Levi was with Charlie when she showed up. He pursued her in a way that was didn't freak her out, yet interested her. It was fun to see Charlie notice the difference bwteen the Wolf Ranch and the ranch she worked at. I hated the drama at the end, but loved what it brought out in Levi and how it made him realize once and for all that Charlie was his. It was a good thing that Charlie wasn't too freaked out with what she found out. The ending to this one was perfect for these two.
This is another great addition to the Wolf Ranch series. Shifters are able to scent their mates when they meet, but because Levi has never shifted he simply knows he is attracted to her and wants to get to know her better. Levi can feel his wolf but because of the ill treatment by his grandparent when he was a teenager, he has never been able to shift. When Charlie is physically assaulted, Levi’s wolf forces the shift in order to protect her. There is a lot going on in this book, between the strong attraction they feel for each other and the danger that surrounds Charlie, it makes for a great read. I loved the story and would highly recommend it. I received a free copy of this book via Bookfunnel and are voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a wonderful read and another great entry in this fun series. Levi and Charlie's book had a bit of a unique twist to it. I really liked these two. They were the perfect combination of sweet and hot! The story was well written and engaging. Offering up a blend of drama, romance, heat, heart, humor, action and suspense that quickly captures and easily keeps your interest, this book was an excellent read!! I'm already ready and eager for book #6!!! This is my independent, impartial review.
I love this series! Fierce is a great addition! Levi is a half shifter that hasn't yet shifted and Charlie is a vet that comes to the ranch to breed a mare. Levi is immediately attracted to her. His wolf knows she is his. Charlie has some trouble at home. Will Levi be able to help her? This story is filled with action, suspence, secrets, passion and love. Just like the previous books, I loved Wolf Ranch: Fierce! I can't wait to see what Vanessa and Renee give us next!
Another wonderful addition in the This Wolf Ranch series. Levi is half human/half wolf, who works on the Wolf Ranch, and doesn’t like being around humans. Then he meets veterinarian, Charlie, who comes to monitor a mare for breeding. The chemistry and attraction between Levi and Charlie is palpable. This story is filled with suspense, mystery, danger, and passion, and made this a page turning read.
They really do drop like flies! As I mentioned before, the Wolf ranch seems to have a mate-magnet somewhere on its acreage! This time the quiet deputy Sheriff falls in instant lust with the newly arrived vet. But, being half wolf, half human and never having shifted, he treats their attraction as just a two week fling. Famous last words!!! I'm sure you can imagine what happens, but how they get there is another exciting and verrrry steamy story!
You gotta love those Wolves... Levi doesn’t like to be around humans; until he meets beautiful veterinarian Charlotte “Charlie” who’s come to stay at Wolf Ranch for two weeks. Charlie has a lot of worries right now and Levi knowns just how to take her mind off of them. They thought they could have a casual fling. They were wrong... I received a free copy of this book.
