I think I'm going to go with 3.5 stars on this one! Great introduction though and I'm a fan of Joelle Jones

So, in this part of Future State we're getting access to a new Wonder Woman by the name of Yara Flor. Her introduction was a little rocky for me because I don't think there is exact clarity on what is going in terms of plot, BUT I really like Yara as a character. She's got this bad ass sense of humor that I think I'm going to vibe with a lot. I actually think that she's going to be the person in the room that's going to create lighter moments when things get really dark. Quite honestly, I'm excited to see the work that they're going to do with her in Infinite Frontier if she makes appearances. This new look at Wonder Woman is fresh and fun and a lot of readers are going to enjoy her. The artwork took some adjustment for me. It's spectacular, but I reader this right after I read Immortal Wonder Woman so that art style was stuck in my head. Definitely looking forward to continuing her story.

whoa, this was awesome!

Yara is new in town and on her adventure to find her pet she meets a old friend. Together they begin a whimsical adventure filled with awesome art, great characters, and a kickass lead. This is probably my favorite Future State title so far. Yara is wonderful. Give me more of her.

Interesting start! I was confused at several points, but I like Flor as a character and the art is gorgeous. Always have faith in Jöelle Jones so I'm curious to see where this goes.

I usually don't review single issues, but I was really excited about this, so I couldn't resist. This version of Wonder Woman is really interesting. She has a lot of personality and it's interesting to see the combination of different worlds of mythology. The visuals in the underworld are also very imaginative. I'm looking forward to the next issue.

Intriguing and fresh. Yara Flor is impatient and impulsive, and I love the preview we've seen of her relationship with Caipora and of a world with Hydras and a terminal entrance to Hades. Given that it begins with commentary about two thunder gods, Tupã & Zeus, and we're introduced to Caipora from Brazilian mythology, I was hoping for more of a look into that instead of reverting to Greek Mythology with Hades, but we'll see where it goes.

Wonder Woman #1-2: 3/5
Immortal Wonder Woman #1-2: 3/5
Nubia #1-2: 4/5
Superman/Wonder Woman #1-2: 3/5
Art: 5/5

As you see, what really stood out for me in this collection was the art. It was absolutely beautiful to look at, the colors are shining and I love how all the characters have their own looks and expressions. It's really a pleasure to look at.

The stories however were a bit meh in parts. I liked getting to know Yara and Nubia and I especially liked the Nubia issues, she's a beautiful badass and I absolutely love the idea of a Black Wonder Woman! The Nubia issues were also the ones I liked best in this collection.

I didn't like Yara quite as much, she's more sassy and sometimes acts a bit immature. Her story was ok but I didn't always like the underlying vibe.

I loved seing Diana, as she's my #1 superhero of all time and she just felt like 100% herself here; unfortunately I didn't like her storyline as much and I sometimes was a bit confused.

The last 2 issues are about Yara and the new Superman. I'm just not a big Superman fan, although the team up felt fitting. Again, the story wasn't bad but I didn't particularly care.

I saw Joelle Jones’ new Wondergirl comic come out and her art is so beautiful I wanted to read her work. But I really want to start at the beginning of Wondergirl. Comics are like nesting dolls, splitting off this way and that and it takes some real detective skills sometimes to find your way to the true beginning of a character.

But it seems that Future State Wonder Woman #01 – Hell to Pay is our introduction to Yara Flor and so there I will begin.

Yara really reminds me a lot of Xena, both in looks and short temper. Don’t care much for that weird little fairy girl Caipora. Love the art, story is a bit ho-hum for now.

Themes: Amazon Rainforest, Jerry the winged horse, don’t wake up Cerberus.

Everything about this issue is delightful. Strong start and a great character introduction. Yara is such a breath of fresh air, I love her already.

I think I’m in love.

In this issue we meet the new Wonder Woman, Yara Flor. She’s a tough one! And She is trying to get to the under world to help an old friend. I really don’t want to give more then that a way. This book was funny, sexy, and full for action. I’m so excited for the new series in May! There are so many panels that I love in this one issue, it’s insane!

“Reality is in the eye of the beholder” said Caipora alongside Yara in the sort of station for the underworld.

I don’t really know the context to the creation of this comic but i just love the embracing of brazilian indigenous culture <3

Really good first Future State book! DC seems to be putting a lot of stock in this character specifically has they've already announced a DC CW show for the character.

As for the character herself, I liked her and the art was really awesome! Just an action packed issue all round, interested to see where issue 2 goes.

This was truly disappointing. This is the first time we meet Yara Flor. The story meanders and doesn’t tell us who she is or why we should care about her. The art is gorgeous but by the final page I wasn’t convinced why I should care about this new character. It’s a poor debut and at this point I can’t understand why this character is getting a tv show. She deserved a stronger first outing

Okay, so maybe these do need to be 60-page tomes each because this was way too short and amounted to not much of anything yet. It's fun, but just doesn't feel as needed as Superman of Metropolis and Next Batman did.

(Number Score At The Bottom) Joelle Jones and Jordaie Bellaire deliver a stunning debut issue for Yara Flor. With the absolute stunning beauty of the Amazon Rainforest you are immediately entranced by this comic. The book opens with the absolute utter badassery of Yara decapitating a dragon. Yara is assisted in this issue with the beautiful and stunning Pegasus affectionately named Jerry. I love how brash Yara is written which really separates her from Diana , she reminds me of Korra in a lot of ways with her aggression. The colors on this book enhance Yara’s beauty and the rainforest the The dragon fight sequence was excellent. I loved the idea of the Underworld being like an airport of ppl wanting to enter the final state and hilarity ensues with Yara and demigod Caipora. Yara is on a mission to free her sister from Hades’s grasp and by the look of it Hades has quite a problem on his hands. This is one of the best DC books I’ve read in ages and quite the debut for a new character.

10/10!!!

Oh my god I love this so much, it was a nightmare getting it after preordering in November, it selling out without the store keeping my preorder, another store ignoring and having to spend triple to get one from ebay then waiting an extra week? Nightmare but worth it all! Yara is an angry legend who I absolutely love! Breaking a turnstile because it wouldn't move and fighting dead people waiting to go on to their afterlife made me laugh!

The artwork is gorgeous but Joelle's art always is and I just can't wait for the next issue!

I already know there’s absolutely no way I’m going to be able to keep up with the entire Future State run for all these characters. But I was very interested in this new version of Wonder Woman, Yara, who is Brazilian. So far this is a very different Wonder Woman than Diana! She’s full of personality and we meet her taking a “whatever it takes” approach to rescuing a fellow warrior. This will be fun to keep up with I think and a bonus, the colors are by Jordie Bellaire one of my fave colorists.

I love Yara Flor, the Brazilian Wonder Woman! I also love how this book intertwines Greek and Brazilian mythology. And also a very fun read! Easily the best book to come out of Future State!

This just didn't do much for me. It felt more goofy than cool. The artwork was sweet for sure and I like the character. Maybe I need to read more to get a better appreciation.
