Every girl grows up dreaming of finding their knight in shining armor—except me. I’m not some princess in need of a prince to sweep me off my feet. I have a firm grip on reality and know that those types of guys don’t exist for normal girls like me. Or so I thought. An innocent game with friends—that I’m in denial about being attracted to—leads me to another dimension where princes are in fact real, and life as I know it is forever altered. Let’s hope my guys and I are strong enough to uncover the truths that we so desperately need, while a dark organization begins hunting me. A world of magic, lies, and deceit make me question everything I thought I knew. No one is what they seem – even me.
Author's note: previously published as "A Glint of Shadoewynne"
Not for me. I couldn't read past a few pages. The fmc seems completely nuts and irrational, also way to quick to anger. She's sees a bubble in the woods that has ppl, music ECT in the background and is told it's another dimension. but a few more pages sees a little green dude in her room and she's like " I must be dreaming"? This book lost it's appeal about 5% in. Dnf
I really enjoyed the story. Inventing a new race , the Shadoewynne, allowed the author more creative freedom compared to Fae, for which readers have some well established expectations. There was suspense during the unfolding of the events and we are just scratching the top layer I think. The FMC shows resilience during all the revelations, but her insecurities tamper her potential for badassery (sometimes to the frustration of the reader, others at were completely deserved and fitting for the story). Where her relationship with David is clear and well described, the pace and trust with the others makes less sense. I hope the next book answers some of my questions on that topic as well.
I never thought I'd see a new take on fantasy elements, but this is it. Story starts simple but then becomes so much more in depth as the characters are tested in different ways, both together and separately. The heroine is forced with the quandary many people face, of cutting toxic family out and making a new path with family that you make.
I really liked the premise, but the lead heroine was a total Asshole! Just unlikable, and contrary at every turn. She seemed to blame everyone around her, and had no redeeming qualities! This book ended with her rejecting her saviors! She said nothing changed her mind I liked nothing about her. The guys were great though. Sadly I won't continue. I just hated her too much..
Omg I can’t wait for the next book! I’m excited to learn more about this world and how her relationships develop. I could not put this book down. I literally stayed up reading it because I had to find out what happened. I’m loving this new world. Definitely a must read!!!
DNF - quit at 8% This just didn't pull me into the story in order to want to keep reading. It might have improved but I didn't want to continue in order to find out.
At my age (60), life is way too short & my time is too important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.
You can't say "entirely new fantasy species" and it's just Fae and elves with a different name. That's not how that works.
And it's super gross that an immortal adult man formed a mate bond with a literal child, as in, under the age of ten, and it's excused as her doing it, not him. Ick, ick, ick. I don't care that he leaves until she's legal. It's still yikes.
Evalina thinks she’s a normal college student until she finds out she has Shadoewynne blood. Her powers are locked and people are after her. This is a slow pace RH but the story will keep you captivated. I really enjoyed this book and anyone who loves books with fae should check this book out!
Love love loved this. I couldn't put it down. It's the first book I've read from this author and i can't wait for more in this series and from this author. Five stars.
Interesting storyline. Looking forward to more explanations for Evalia's backstory, still some things not explained but hoping for more information in book 2.
