Safanarion Order: Books 1 - 3

Rate this book
Book 1 - Road to Shandara: Aaron is about to graduate from college when his grandfather unexpectedly dies. He finds a mysterious note from his grandfather that tells him he is a descendant from an ancient and powerful family from a place he’s never heard of. Aaron is thrust into a struggle that began before he was born and will reach across worlds to pull him into the fight.

An epic tale of action adventure, following Aaron’s quest as he shifts the balance of power upon Safanar and returns his family’s sacred order to its rightful place.

Book 2 - Echoes of a Gloried Past: Aaron will lead a daring quest to save the woman he loves, bringing him to the home of the High King and the vile Elitesmen Order. Time is running out for Sarah. She has only days before she is lost and if Aaron can’t reach her in time, then nothing he can do will save her from what she will become.

Echoes of a Gloried Past is the second installment of the epic fantasy adventure series, The Safanarion Order. The worlds of fantasy and science fiction collide in this action adventure with ancient allies and enemies alike preparing for war.

Book 3 - Amidst the Rising Shadows: In this third installment of the Safanarion Order Series, the Free Nations Army desperately scrambles to prepare for war not only with the High King, but the looming threat of an invasion force determined to enslave them all.

Aaron is held captive on the Hythariam home world that’s only weeks away from being destroyed. With the portal between worlds down there is little chance that Aaron will be able to return to Safanar.

I think I made it to chapter 18 of the first book before I gave up.

Melodrama, awkward character development and the continual misuse of words and phrases are the factors that caused me to return the audio version of this book.

I have read reviews that said the other books got better with the melodrama quotient being reduced, but I just could not make it past this book. Along with the melodrama, the author continually used words and phrases in a fashion that actually took away from what he was trying to convey. Sometime the misuse of a word or phrase word was blatant, sometimes it was subtle, but it happened often enough to be distracting.

For example, a wounded, wise dragon being described as "hapless" is just one of countless times where word choice missed the mark.

Then we had character development was which awkward, uneven and hamfisted - no nuance and no subtlety.

Finally, from the very beginning the character made choices and mistakes that the character should not have. For example with a whole bunch of time to prepare he brings only enough food for a day and then thinks perhaps he should have brought more. Also there were occasions when a gun or guns would have made a big difference, but for some reason, the experienced 21st century outdoors man never even considers it to be an option.

The first three are amazing.

The author Ken Lozito is great in science fiction and now he also shows no shame in fantasy penmanship, not at all.
This first three are a teaser, number four will be the truth of the whole story, the whole review.
What I don’t like and it’s not the first that I see it is how the hero makes the biggest mistakes and still refuses to acknowledge it blaming all but himself and adults behaving like children at times, willing to risk thousands or a whole world to save one because of love.
At least the author amazes withe an awesome twist on the ending of book three.
Makes you wonder what’s coming at the end of this series on book four.

Narration by Vikas Adam is beautifully done for each of the characters in this book.

This is the first series I've read/or listened to - where the second book was better than the first and the the third was at least as good as the second. I believe I'll be getting the fourth to round it out just now. Really good story telling - good plot lines - great people. Very consistent identities - and the reader was very good at keeping the voices for the people stable. It was a bit weird that the foreigners had India Indian accents though... that never stopped being strange ... but -then - why not...

Hits every trope of the last 25 years

It's like this guy had a book of tropes of the 90s, and tried to cram in as many as possible. It's a checklist of predictable points and plot devices. It's not bad, it's just so worn and cliche, and so many others have used the exact same materials in better ways. If you've run out of everything else to read, and need something to waste time with, this will work, but you'd feel better to re-read another series that you actually like instead.

hero

A very good series that is on the verge of being great, however it never seems to take that last step. Honestly, there are parts that are extremely reminiscent of other great series, to the point that if you have read those books it takes the reader out of the imaginary world the books send you. It’s to bad that happens, but if you have not read the various series that influenced the writer you will probably love it. Well written, imaginative, a good blend of fantasy and sci-fi, it has all the elements of a classic series. Almost.

Wow!

Very moving. Lots of action and intrigue. Seeing someone come from simple beginnings to end up being regarded as a king among others was astounding. He came from earth to a new world and changed the lives of all those who met him. I believe anyone would enjoy this series if they are into action and seeing someone young come into being respected among all and accomplishing things others could not before him.

Interesting story line.

Interesting story line. Imaginative and well written for the most part. The only glaring discrepancy was s "5 judge tribunal". Other than that it was a nice blend of high fantasy and science fiction . Not exactly Tolkien and Bradbury but what is

The story seemed to jump around then just hang...but it’s definitely full of action...worth the read, it’s different. Enjoy it if you like slashing and there are even dragons

Inspiring

A beautifully written book. Mr. Lozito is indeed a seriously good wordsmith. An age old story of good vs evil. But what a good story indeed.

A good combination of shifting and fantasy

An enjoyable romp in which an integration of magic and sci-fi weapons is carried out with reasonable self consistency. Primary characters well drawn and the plot development keeps you interested.

Very exciting.

Very exciting action scenes. Exceptional writing skills. Does not waste a lot of words with the personal scenes. Flows well. Style is similar to a movie script but far better. Highly recommend to readers of fantasy who normally do not read SciFi.
