She returned to Cedar Creek to escape her mistakes, but the past followed her home.

Divorced, unemployed, and almost bankrupt, Dani returned home to Cedar Creek, always looking over her shoulder in case the Mafia followed her home. But after two years have passed without incident, she’s finally started to believe she can let down her guard.
Then one fateful Friday night, she wanders into a bar, intent on forgetting her problems, if only for a night. But there are two men in the bar who make that impossible. One is her high school sweetheart, the one she left behind to chase her dreams in Chicago. The other is a stranger with an ominous grin that sends chills down her spine.
As Dani’s past closes in on her, she must fight for her own life and the lives of those she loves. Can she do what it takes to ensure their survival, even if it means sacrificing herself?
Welcome to the small town of Cedar Creek! Get to know the families, solve the mysteries, and prepare to fall in love…
Violet Howe enjoys writing romance with humor. She lives in Florida with her husband (her knight in shining armor!) and their adorable but spoiled dogs. When she’s not writing, Violet is usually watching movies, reading, or planning her next travel adventure. To learn more about Violet or her books, visit www.violethowe.com.
Whiskey Flight by Violet Howe. Contemporary romantic suspense. 1st in the series but connected to all the other series by the author which take place in Cedar Creek. In particular, if continuity is important to you, read the Cedar Creek mystery series beginning with The Ghost in the Curve and the two following before this book. It can stand alone as romantic suspense.
Danielle moved back to Cedar Creek to live in a family home when all her assets were frozen because of her ex-husband and his organized crime connections. Dani has reestablished connections in Cedar Creek and is home to stay. Maybe it’s time she forgives Seth, her onetime BFF, for not following her to Chicago. Threats and fear burst in the door with a phone call from her ex. Someone is watching her and she needs to leave town immediately or everyone she cares about will be at risk.
Gripping storyline. Strong and supportive hero. The heroine...doing what she feels she has to in protecting her family. A little less screaming maybe but who knows how I’d react in a similar shoot out? 4.5. A little predictable but a riveting read.
There was so much to love about this book. Danni, our Whiskey loving heroine, was down to earth and her backstory broke my heart. I could feel her hopelessness and anguish over marring a man she hardly knew and all the chaos that she had brought upon herself. Whiskey Flight wasn’t lying about being a suspense novel! This book had me on the edge of my seat while trying to figure out who to believe and what Victor’s end game could be. While we’re talking about Victor let me say that Violet Howe wrote an exceedingly dynamic Villain. He was immensely successful at manipulating Dani’s feelings and twistng the truth. He was so convincing when professing his love for her that he even had me feeling sorry for him at times. How an author can write a character that makes your skin crawl as well as tug at your heartstrings is beyond me, but Violet Howe made it look easy! Whiskey Flight was a great read and I think the new suspense books fit perfectly into her other Cedar Creek series. Seth and Dani were so cute together and I hope we get to see them again in the next book!
I absolutely love everything that Violet Howe writes. My favorite series of hers is the Cedar Creek Mystery series and so when I heard about her writing another series based in cedar creek but called ceder creek suspense I couldn't wait to read it. I couldn't put the book down from the moment I started reading it. I was so sad when the story ended because I just wanted more. I loved Dani' s character so much from Phantom in the Footlights and was so excited that she was going to get her own book.
I was immediately drawn to Dani’s story and i wanted to know more. Dani and Seth were cute together and throughout the book you could tell how much Seth really cared for Dani and how much she cared for him as well. They couldn't fight their strong connection, but Dani had so much going on in her life personally and just didn't know how to handle it or how to tell Seth. All she wanted to was protected him from her mistakes. Victor was a well written character and very complexed. In his own unhealthy way he believed he loved dani and everything he did was for her
I love Violet Howe and I am very excited to see what happens with this series. I can't wait to read the next book and hopefully Dani and Seth will be back in the next book.
Whiskey Flight is book 1 in the Cedar Creek Suspense series. WOW!! What a way to start a series!! Edge of my seat page turner! I started this book before bed and read a few chapters but i could not fall asleep because i was thinking about Dani and Seth and what they were doing next. So i thought i would read a bit more and the next thing i knew i had finished the book and had 1 hour before my alarm was to go off. (Definitely worth it!) So with that being said, i highly recommend this book but take it from me, don't start it before bed or you will loose sleep! Cannot wait for book 2 in the series!
Just like all the others, Violet Howe’s newest novel is brilliant. The characters of Whiskey Flight are well developed and easy to love. The storyline is also incredibly well written. The plot is fast paced with lots of thrills and excitement that hooks you and sucks you in as you read. The story is set up well for future books as well, and I look forward to seeing if Ms Howe writes more to Dani’s story!
“Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whiskey is barely enough!” - Mark Twain
I felt like I needed to kick this review off with a whiskey quote and make it a metaphor for books, specifically books written by Violet Howe. Too many good books by her is barely enough for sure!
Ok ya’ll! This book is good. If you’re a Violet Howe fan and are familiar with her Cedar Creek series, both the mystery and families, you will *need* this book. It will fill the hole the last book left after it filled the hole the book before it left, and so on. Every book in this series leaves you happy but craving more!
This book is the first in her Cedar Creek suspense and I must say I am very curious about where she plans to take the suspense branch next. Every Cedar Creek Families or Cedar Creek Mysteries book gives you a plethora of characters you are eager to read more about. This first book in Cedar Creek suspense gives you just that, suspense from page one until farm near the last page!
We are introduced to Dani in Phantom in the Footlights, book 3 in Cedar Creek Mysteries featuring Sloane and Tristan. We come to like Dani a lot in that book and get some back story. You can enjoy this book without having read that book, but I strongly suggest reading the mystery series beginning with Ghost in the Curve as it gives Dani an extra layer of depth and the reader a better understanding of the town and some of the key characters.
This book features suspense, a relationship that fell apart in the past but obviously was always meant to be, and a lesson on falling in love too quickly! You’ll see the love Dani and Seth once had shine through in that easy way that belies a happy relationship. You’ll bite your nails hoping they don’t get pulled a part a second time!!!
This book also gives you relatable characters. There was a time or two when I was wanting Dani to be more badass, but then I’d think about myself in her current position and the reality of how I’d be handling it. You’ll also feel the very real dilemma faced by Dani as she reconciles the person with whom she thought she fell in love with the person he has turned out to actually be!
I cannot say enough good things about this book and I know you won’t regret taking a chance on it!
I received an ARC of the book from the author. This is an honest review.
I would categorize this book as a mostly-clean small-town romantic suspense thriller. By mostly clean I mean: no graphic sex or super descriptive blood and guts. There's adult content but its more R rated than Mature Audiences Only. Lol
I really enjoyed this book...Dani and Seth, man, talk about nostalgia for me! I highlighted passages all thru this that reminded me of my high school love, Mike. My split-apart. 💔☯️ We broke up for 12 years before finding each other again. Now 15 1/2 years happy together. Two halves make a whole. 💜 Reading about Dani & Seth made me all mushy and full of flashbacks. 😝😂😂😂
Okay so about the book... The good: The writing was great. No continuity issues or downright dumb mistakes you usually find in an arc. Thank you, Violet! No typos even. Woohoo. Loved the action and the real life conflicted emotions towards Victor. No spoilers but anyone who reads the book will get what I mean. Loss is loss. 😉
I also thoroughly appreciated the research that the author had to have done concerning whiskey and organized crime. I hate hate hate reading a book with dumb factual mistakes! I don't wanna roll my eyes while reading. Research shows a love for your craft and Violet Howe delivered.
The bad: ummmm, I got thirsty? I wanted to smack Dani a time or two but ya know, a little stupidity in a crisis is human so I can't even call it bad.
I loved this book and will gladly read more by this author! If ya like small town romance with a bunch of action and mayhem thrown in, check out Whiskey Flight by Violet Howe. Thank me later. 😉

A Fast Paced Read ....... While this book ties into Violet Howe's other Cedar Creek Series ( CC Families and CC Mysteries) it is a true stand alone. I found this book to be a really fast paced read - The action keeps coming around every corner. Dani has found herself at rock bottom back in her home town due some shady dealings by her Ex-Hubby. She is so shell shocked by all that has happened that she is afraid of making ANY connections with people. This does not stop her old home town boyfriend Seth from trying to reconnect with her. This leads to the 2 of them on a frantic run for safety....
Dani returned to Cedar Creek to escape her mistakes but her past catches up to her, she must fight for her own life and the lives of those she loves. Can she do what it takes to ensure their survival, even if it means sacrificing herself? Whiskey Flight started a little slow but boy did it pick up fast and I just couldn’t put the book down. Quite enjoyed it, there were some twists that I was not expecting and my thoughts were how are they going to get out of this? Dani is impulsive and Seth is so darned sweet, you can’t help but fall in love with them. This is my first book by Violet Howe and I’ll definitely be getting more of her books.
Ive loved Violet’s other Cedar Creek books so was excited about a new series set in that town. Add in whiskey...and it 110% was something I wanted to read!
Dani has returned to her hometown after divorcing her husband who turned out to a Mafia hitman. In hiding, Dani is always looking over her shoulder for fear that the Mafia is after her. One night, she goes to a local bar and runs into two guys; one she left behind when she moved to Chicago (and he’s now a cop), and the unknown man who seemed to be following her previously.
After she gets home, she gets a phone call from her ex-husband who tells her she needs to run NOW.
I’m afraid to say much more and give it all away. I’ll just say that I, literally, could not put it down! Even when I couldn’t actively be reading, I just switched WhisperSync on so I could continue the story.
“Whiskey…There’s nothing like its bold flavor and strong burn to remind you that you’re alive.” —Melanie A. Smith, Everybody Lies
Once upon a time, Dani had it all…an adoring boyfriend, family and a dream to leave her hometown to make a name for herself. But when Dani runs off to Chicago to chase after her dream, she quickly discovers that perhaps she acted too rashly. When her lover and best friend Seth doesn’t follow her, she’s determined to cut all ties with her past in Cedar Creek. A decade later, Dani’s life becomes completely shattered…the man that swept her off her feet turns out to be a mafia hitman, and now she’s on the run and hiding in plain sight back in the small town of Cedar Creek. Dani will have to become as strong as the whiskey she drinks, because the love of her past is about to collide with the danger of her present…
If you are a fan of Violet Howe’s Cedar Creek world, you will enjoy the first installment to her suspense series! Highly recommend!
**I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received via the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own. **
I am so honored that I was given the opportunity to read an early copy of this book. The action and suspense started on page 1 and didn't end until the last word. The characters are engaging and the story flows well. I also enjoyed learning a bit about whiskey. I am already excited to see what is in store for Dani and Cedar Creek next.
I have been waiting FOREVER for this book and the author did not dissapoint!! Whiskey Flight is the first book in the Cedar Creek Suspense and I LOVED it!!! Dani and Seth will take you on a journey of suspense!!
I dove into this book not knowing what to expect and was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. A real page-turner for me, which is unusual. Author Violet Howe did an excellent job of keeping the story moving along and making the reader wonder what was going to happen next. A quick read that evoked many emotions. I will surely be looking for the next installment in Cedar Creek Suspense.
Violet Howe does it again with another wonderful read! This time she has dipped her toes in to a suspense book and it does not disappoint. We get to know characters introduced in the Phantom of the Footlights and their story even better.
If you need a great book for your next read, by all means, pick this one!
Violet has done it again! A suspenseful book that grabbed my attention.Would Dani be able to break free from her Mafia husband? And what about Seth? You have to read this to find out. Loved this book!
I got the privilege to receive an advanced copy of this book by Violent Howe and it was amazing. It was a definite page turner and loved every minute of it. From beginning to end it has adventure with a dose of romance and suspense. You will not want to put this book down. Violet's Cedar Creek books are not only good reads, they are great reads!
Well worth the buying click wrong buttons. I was scrolling through some books to pick up for my next read, as I'm scrolling I hit the buy buttons instead of adding it to my next read. I love the D and Seth story line, have you always wondered if you ever let the wrong one go? What a way to find out. This book kept me up a couple of Times. Victor hmm I think we all had a Victor in our life lol. But not related to the Mafia world . Lol. I found myself a new favorite author. Check it out .
A quick paced book that keeps you on the edge of your seat! Whiskey Flight had interesting characters that you wanted to see how this all played out. A good read.
This book pulls you in from the first chapter. I didn't want to put it down. Violet Howe made me feel like I was Dani. I felt the need to look over my shoulder when I was reading.
I enjoyed the relationship that Dani and Seth have. He had no idea what he was getting himself in to when he got into Dani's car.
Fast paced, a worthy hero, a strong female lead, and great writing all make this a great read and an enjoyable way to spend the day. I love second chance romance, so this was right up my alley.
This book was recommended by a friend so I had high hopes. I was hoping for a mystery/action suspense with some romance. While there was some chemistry and romance between Dani and Seth, and some suspense, overall this book fell flat for me. I wasn't invested enough in the characters and some of the action scenes were pretty predictable. This series is a spinoff from another of the authors' series, so perhaps had I read the original series I would have felt more connected to the town and situation.
Why did I wait so long to read this book?! I’ve had it on my TBR list for five years – five years! I’m happy that I finally made time to read it. Whiskey Flight is a great romantic suspense story. Ex-husband bad guy, ex-boyfriend/childhood friend hero and lots of edge-of-your-seat suspense and danger. This book totally captivated me and didn’t let go. I was holding my breath a lot, especially during the last few chapters. If you like a good suspenseful story, with a second chance romance I can heartily recommend this one.
We met the main character, Dani in previous Cedar Creek books, and she featured heavily in The Phantom In the Footlights. What she thought in her rearview comes screaming back with a vengeance in Whiskey Flight. She never backed down. I'm genuinely surprised she made to the end of the book, because if honesty in the face of danger was a superpower, she'd be indestructible. It helps that she had a second chance with her first love waiting for her.
This is my first Violet Howe book and definitely not the last. If my battery hadn’t died last night I would not have put the book down until I was finished reading. There was excitement right from the start that had me on the edge of my seat. You need to read this book and probably the series.
OMG. I did not go to bed on time cause I HAD to finish this book (not a great decision on the first week at a new job). This is an amazing story. I just wanted to punch Victor in the face and god love Seth.
I mean, you had me at mafia... Whiskey Flight was my first Cedar Creek book, and it looks like I have some catching up to do. Violet Howe delivered on the mystery and suspense and this fast-paced novel. I had a hard time putting it down. Next time, I'll remember not to start one of Ms. Howe's books until I have a free weekend (or at least no 8am meetings).
