When the man I thought was the love of my life sold me to repay his debts, I lost all hope of ever finding happiness again. I'd let him turn me into a vampire and then he'd turned me into a slave.
After getting rescued from my prison, I swore I'd never let anyone control me ever again.
But when I find out my fated mate is a necromancer, the one type of mage able to control vampires and all the undead, I have a decision to make. Can I trust him, after everything that had been done to me, or will I let my fears get the best of me?
Aeron:
When I escaped my captivity, I didn't expect to live. I was bleeding too much and I had nowhere to go. I knew it wouldn't be long before my miserable life came to an end. And I was okay with it.
But then I woke up, safe, sound and completely healed, and I saw him. The beautiful, sweet man who couldn't bear to be touched but whose eyes were bright with longing. I knew he was important to me long before I realized he was my semnyar.
But what do I do when our shared demons are determined to keep us apart? How do I earn his trust when I keep using my magic on him?
Angel of Death is a paranormal gay romance featuring a snarky vampire, a sweet necromancer, a leopard gecko who knows just when to give his people some space and friends who always have their backs.
It is the third book in the Mages of Ravenshire series. Each book in this series can be read as a standalone, but it is recommended to read them in order for the most enjoyment since characters will definitely pop into each other's books because they love meddling.

Niall is scarred inside and out. Turned into a vampire with the promise of a great future. But he was sold as a slave, abused, and held in prison by vampires. After many years he was saved by Cassian and now he lived in Mistvale, among kind spirits but afraid to be touched.
Imagine the horror after he saved a bleeding man and came to understand this man is a necromancer and... his mate. A necromancer who can hurt vampires. Never ever he can be kept by anyone, even if it’s his mate.
After being saved and understand Niall is his mate, Aeron is deeply sad, Niall doesn’t want him as a mate. Or else he would tell him he was his mate.
They have a long long way to go. Niall wants to open up but he's so afraid. Aeron is patient and has to show it, he knows what it means to be captured against your will.
There are so many beautiful creatures to find in this story: dragon, shifters, vampires, mages, an elf, a merman, and semlee’s. The circle of friends is the best you can have. The process of opening up from Niall was beautifully done. Niall and Aeron are sweet and lovable. The power of Aeron was impressive, he has the chance to use it a few times. There is a part about Cassian and his healing, wonderfully written. He has also a story of his own. Overall an entertaining and enjoyable story, with a sweet romance, all quite satisfying.
4.25 stars. Audiobook. Love is in the air! And contagious! Series of three books, different couples, all friends and very much in each others lives. Vampires, fire mages, shifters, necromancers, magic, kept hidden from the human world. Everything is love and healing and magically alright. Must be in the mood love sweetness.
I read all three in a row and by the last one, it was sweetness overload. Not in a bad way, just be in the mood for low drama, low angst, high sugar before heading into this series. I do recommend reading them somewhat close together though so you don’t forgot who is who. While not uber important, it’s nice to keep them straight.
The novellas in between were not available on audio, so I skipped them, there were a few people I didn’t know in book three, they must have had a novella, but it was no bid loss. There was one novella with a dragon shifter that I would have liked to read as one of the love interests was sort of the bad guy in book one. And by bad guy, I mean doing something to save his ailing daughter and no one getting hurt….even the bad guy was mostly made of sugar.
I really liked the 3rd book of the Mages of Ravenshire. It's not dramatic or angst filled, but a simple sweet story of 2 people overcoming their traumas and healing. It's absolutely necessary to have at least read book 2 as that is where we meet the vampire Niall. Niall discovers his mate, Aeron, bleeding on his driveway and his worst fear is realised when he's told Aeron is a necromancer. He has to decide if he will let his fear of being controlled rule him. There is a lot of healing and closure, not just for Niall and Aeron
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Both Niall and Aeron have been through some sh*t, Niall especially since he was turned into a vampire by his boyfriend and then sold to a coven to cover his gambling debts. He was then repetitively abused and was a slave for years until Cass rescued him. With everything Niall has been through he doesn’t like touch, even from his mate Aeron. Niall is scared that since Aeron is a necromancer, he can take control of vampires, so since Niall is one Aeron could control him if he wanted, and Niall never wants anyone to control him ever again. I loved how Aeron let Niall take the lead and didn’t push him to do anything he wasn’t fully comfortable with. He found a way to send Niall his love and comfort by way of his familiar Blizzard the gecko. I loved that Tay and Cass went to Ravenshire to rescue Micah the 10 year old boy who was held hostage with Aeron and they offer him a loving family with them being his dad’s, due to Micah’s power being that he can read peoples minds so he knows rhat he can trust that they wont abandon him even when they find out what he can do. I love their friends/chosen family group and how supportive they all are of each other, and that Niall asked them all if they knew of any supernatural therapists that could help him with his ptsd etc. Jai and Raph’s wedding and vowel ceremony were beautiful. I loved how Jai’s Ma made ceremony outfits for Padfoot and Neya, Raph’s squirrel familiar. Her outfit was so cute and she totally loved it. I loved how when Niall’s worst abuser finds him, Aeron asks Niall by looking at him about who the guy is and that did all the coven treat him badly, Niall tells him that his friend Lisa and her mate helped when they could and never did anything bad to him. Niall is okay with whatever Aeron does to the others but he wants to know about it afterwards and goes inside as Aeron asks. Aeron then forces Niall’s abuser to tell him exactly what he’d done to him and then he makes him go back to his coven and kill every vampire apart from Lisa and he mate and once everyone is dead, he should keep stabbing himself in the heart until he’s dead. I think it’s a fitting end to all the torture they gave Niall. I’m looking forward to reading more books about the supernaturals that make Mistvale their home. I’d recommend this book, series and author to everyone.
I don’t think I will be reading anymore books from Mistvale unfortunately. I was so excited to find this author and all the different interconnected books about mistvale after reading the short story in the candy hearts anthology… BUT news to me, to actually follow the characters and read the stories in order you have to jump around to different books in different series’s instead of completing one series then starting another and because I didn’t know that, I feel like I missed crucial steps and it’s too late for me to go back. Even if it wasn’t too late though, I don’t know if I would. I wanted to love these books. I wanted to so badly. I LOVE PRN books and I’m running out of MM PRN books to read, so I was very excited about these but the books are just too all over the place, there is very little plot and the action if you even want to call it that is very minimal and happens at the very end. There are discrepancies in the time line and with the characters… ex: in this book, it is said they are the same height and build, but then in one of the kissing scenes it says that Aeron stands on his tiptoes to kiss Niall… why!?
Bottom line, these lovely supernatural creatures find their mates and live HEA but don’t expect much magic or action or really anything at all from these books. If you want lovey simple books about fated mates and how they fall in love despite some major problems (that somehow are resolved in very very minor unexciting ways) these are the books for you.
Young vampire Niall (who Cassian rescued from the shitty coven in the book before this) finds necromancer Aeron on his doorstep, bloody and close to death.
I'd looked forward to sweet Niall's story, but the clunky writing and many errors were so distracting. Wrong words, wrong idioms, and tons of mix-ups of past and present tense. It wasn't a problem with the first 2 books (4 with the novellas,) so I wonder what happened.
Niall Aeron A very sweet and slow story in what appears to be the last book in the Mages of Ravenshire series (though it does appear to be more the Mages of Mistdale). In the last book Niall has just found a bleeding man on his doorstep and the immediate connection and worry made it clear this man was his mate. The man, Aeron, turns out to be a necromancer, which terrifies Niall. But all of his friends have shown that mates really are meant to be through all unexpected troubles so there is sure to be something more there.
Aeron has spent his adult life hating and fearing his mage abilities for the hate and fear they have brought to him. He escaped a lab he had been kept at on Ravenshire to run to Mistdale and happened to fall into Niall and his family. They immediately take Aeron in and help him heal and show him caring even in full knowledge of his power. Aeron is shocked and sees he can make a home there, even more when Niall turns out to be his semlee. But between Aaron's fear from his treatment and Niall's aversion to touch and people from his own captivity the two have a long road ahead of them.
This story does a good job actually working through the problems has rather than ignoring them because they are mates. Much like the previous stories, while the two are attracted to each other and motivated to make it work, they still have to work at making a relationship. There are lots of conversations, some therapy, and plenty of support from found family. It is about building a healthy relationship even in the face e of past traumas.
This book felt like an end of the series because the epilogue sort of wraps things up for everyone. There is a hint that more stories could happen, though the focus does seem to be on the shifter pack they have met and befriended. Perhaps the stories of the mages are done though it seems that there is still more for Mistdale to tell about!
This is the third book in the series with Niall a vampire who was rescued from a life of abuse and the necromancer who shows up nearly dead in his hedge and turns out to be his mate. The problem is that Niall is so damaged he can barely stand for anyone to touch him, how can he handle a mate and on top of that necromancers can control the undead (i.e. vampires) so that makes Niall nervous that Aeron will try to control him.
There's not much huge story here, mostly just Niall and Aeron learning how to be mates and Niall moving slowly to allowing Aeron closer. There is lots of interactions with their friends from the other books, there is the ongoing guilt Cassian deal with for the death of his parents and it's not really clear why/where Aeron was kept captive in the mage village but they also rescue a young boy who was kept captive with him who is then adopted by one of the couple and Jai and Raphael get married.
One thing I really liked about this series is it doesn't have magical healing dick. Just finding his mate doesn't mean that Niall can suddenly have sex willy-nilly and all of his abuse is forgotten. He actually ends up finding a therapist that they both go to in order to deal with the issues and it's noted that even after quite a while Niall still has days being touched is too much. So I think that is more realistic to how it works. That was the same with asexual Cassian, finding a mate didn't turn him into a sex maniac.
I also liked that Aeron avenged Niall and how he'd been abused.
So generally I enjoyed these three books a great deal.
I swear every book that Stella Rainbow writes is better then the last one!
Naill is a vampire that we were introduced to in Sleep of Eternity after he asked Cass to get him out of the coven's capture in exchange for his help to wake up Gus. He is kind and caring. He loves his friends, but needs sometime to himself. After being sold by his sire to make money, he has known a life of pain and control. When he finds out that his mate is a necromancer, his initial reaction is fear. Necromancers can control his kind and he cannot go back to that life again.
Aeron has escaped a certain death only to sustain injuries that he is sure will kill him now. He never expected to wake up safe and fully healed. He has endured his own share of trauma, but knows that he is now safe with his gentle, sweet semnyar who is afraid to be touched. Now he is determined to prove to Naill that he will never control him and he will be be supportive and patient with him. Naill is perfect for him in every way.
Every time I think that I have found my favorite couple written by Stella, she writes another book and I am pulled in a different direction. These books are wonderful and I cannot wait for more!
Angel of Death is Book 3 in the Mages of Ravenshire series and should be read in order since familiar faces from the previous books make an appearance. The author is a brilliant writer and created such a wonderful world in Mistvale (a small town with magical beings and humans living side by side). This book picks up immediately where Cassybear and Tay's story ended with Niall stumbling over a gravely injured man. It turns out that the injured man is Niall's mate, Aeron, who is a necromancer. A necromancer is a mage that can control the undead with magic and Niall is definitely undead. Aeron managed to escape his horrible prison and find a home for his fellow prisoner, Micah, who is just a kid. There is so much packed into this book with on scene angst and abuse that Aeron and Niall suffered. Both men have traumatic pasts and are trying to heal. Throw in meddling but lovable friends, Blizzard, Diva, and the denizens of Mistvale, and you'll find yourself cheering for Niall and Aeron like I did. So many wonderful scenes as the friends celebrate love, found family, and a renewal of life :) I can't wait to read more in this series because I fell in love with Mistvale from Day 1 and I'm looking forward to re-visiting this magical town over and over again! Another brilliant 5-star read by Stella Rainbow :)
What I liked most so far. More balanced, less teenage romance. But there are still points that I didn't like and that I missed.
To begin with, what I didn't see that I should have in this book. A trigger warning for sexual abuse, bondage, humiliation, blood, depression, trauma. Just like a warning for torture off the page, but mentioned on it. After all, Aeron was tortured, beaten, stabbed and shot. At least that's how he appeared to Niall, at the beginning of the book.
I understand that the author addresses heavy themes, but he tries to soften them and this is acceptable, as these are low-angst books. But that's not what happened with what was done to Aeron, yes, each person and/or character deals with trauma differently, but here what happened to Aeron was ignored, diminished. No matter how strong that being is, he will have baggage from what was imposed on him in such a brutal and traumatic way, but no, Aeron. It was disheartening to see this on the pages.
As I said before, it's understandable that the author softens some themes, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't be presented for what he is. I don't like half information or when it is simply implied. Either you cover a topic or you don't. If you're just going to claim that said character was abused, so be it, just don't feed this source half-information. Hit the abuse button, moving beyond the trauma itself and then back off.
These two points were what bothered me most about the book. Will I reduce your rating for this? No. Because this book was really good. It makes you laugh, cry, root for the characters and love them. Niall and Aeron are beautiful together and Blizzard the gecko is as protective and fierce as April.
Niall, a vampire betrayed and enslaved by the man he once loved, carries deep scars of captivity and manipulation. After being rescued, he vows never to be controlled again. But when he discovers his fated mate is Aeron—a necromancer with the power to command the undead—his vow is tested. Trust becomes a battlefield. Aeron, wounded and ready to die, is unexpectedly healed and drawn to Niall long before realizing they’re bonded as semnyar. But even love at first sight is no match for the shadows of their past. Aeron struggles to gain Niall’s trust, even as his magic—necessary, yet intrusive—threatens to widen the distance between them. Bound by fate but haunted by pain, these two must confront betrayal, control, and their own emotional wounds to find a love that frees rather than binds.
I enjoyed this story with its hauntingly beautiful tension between what love demands and what fear resists. The story was steeped in trauma, magic, and the fragile hope of healing. There were a lot of emotions and feelings as both learnt to trust each other and settle into their relationship. Some nice moments involving the couples from the previous books in the series. This was an MM story with mature content.
For having trauma in their pasts this story was surprisingly sweet and uplifting. The focus was kept on the men and how they both were uniquely right for one another which allowed them to work through their personal demons and become stronger individually before they became stronger together. They needed exactly what the other could provide and I truly enjoyed watching them get to their HEA.
Yes, everything was pretty simple, understanding to the point of unbelievable, patient to the point of saintly, and sweet to the point of cavities, but there were also difficult moments that tested their problem-solving skills and stretched them to accommodate more than one would expect them to. Both of them rose to the occasion and became the best version of themselves while being loved, supported, and encouraged from within and without. They found companionship, community, and their heart's home.
I have a new favourite semlee! Blizzard the gecko is just so adorable - I wish there was more of him! And yes, Niall and Aeron are, of course, sweet and adorable as well. The author does a great job of writing emotionally vulnerable characters and making our hearts bleed for them. Another terrific aspect is always tenderness and care they receive from their semnyar. I hated what Niall had been put through in his young life, and I loved the gentle care Aeron showed him. The progression of their relationship as they work through their insecurities and fears is genuine and raw; the pacing of both the romance and the physical intimacy is perfect.
Oh, and as a bonus, we also get to see Cassian and Tay finally get what they dreamed about at the end of the second book. It was so sweet and my heart is even happier for them now!
Niall is a vampire who has been betrayed by a man he thought he was in love with. He was abused by a vampire coven and made to be a servant.
Aeron is a necromancer who had been attacked and left for dead. Niall comes across Aeron and discovers they are fated mates.
This story is a lot like all of the stories in this series. The characters are sweet, insecure, broken in some way, and come across their fated mate. There is little angst. Total fluffyness. I keep hoping for just a little something different. The characters or stories seem too much alike.. like the same recipe just change a few ingredients.
The story was good just need a little more variety.
This actually wasn't a bad book. Normally I'd rate this a solid 3. Why the one star? Read on...
TW - There is an on page flashback to an SA for one MC and multiple mentions of recurring SA throughout the book. THE AUTHOR DID NOT SUPPLY ANY TW FOR THIS BOOK. I'm not a TW Tracey by any means. But this one is huge. If you mention or describe an SA in your book you need to supply a TW. End of Discussion.
Otherwise it was an okay book. A bit angsty as both were trying to come to terms with their own history of trauma. It was a bit strange that Aeron's Ravenshire prison was never followed up on. Like who are these people? What are they doing with "different" mages? It was kinda dropped and so far in later books hasn't been picked back up yet.
If you have a love of reading paranormal and magic. then this book will keep you hook from the first page to the last. this series is a must read. Niall character is one that you just want to wrap him up with strength and love. But you wont get to do that because of things that happen in his past he can not stand the touch of others. When he finally finds his mate he believes that fate is playing a cruel trick on him. Aeron will show and be there for his mate that he always will put him first. their journey was emotional but they were able to overcome so much fear and hate. love is stronger conquer. Cant wait to see what happens next with this awesome author
I am in love with Ravenshire and all its inhabitants. Stella Rainbow has created a lovely place, watched over by a dragon that attracts a large number of fantasy creatures to it who then manage to find their fated mates and help each other heal. This book has one character who has been hurt in the past but aside from that I found this book to be a bit more gentle than the first two. While there is a focus on one main couple, I love the way that characters from past and (hopefully) future books appear in all of these stories. The only real problem I have is that I can’t wait to read the next one and it hasn’t been written yet. Ah well.
Third part of the magical series with a great world building! I love the found family vibe these stories have and the secondary characters, which add a lot of flavor to them! This story is a hurt / comfort fated mates story which I would probably cast as a slow burn. The pairing of a vampire and a mage was really well developed and the characters were likable from the start. I loved the whole plot and how their emotions were developing throughout the whole ordeal. There is no insta - love here, so they had to work for it despite the fated mates part, which I always appreciate. All in all, I enjoyed the story a whole lot!
Another good read from this series. We meet Naill in one of the other books in the series (which you should definitely read) we knew some of his past but after meeting his mate Aeron we learn more about his past. I like that Aeron and Naill have someone of the same past so that allowed Aeron to be especially careful with Naill which he needed. They made a really good pair.
We even got to see more of the characters from the other books as some of those characters got closure, had weddings and possibly meet some future mate matches.
It had some messy and wonky bits, and it lacked the same depth as the other two in the series, but I enjoyed it. It maybe felt a little rushed? Or, like, maybe it was longer at one point and got cut down? I don’t know.
It was also just this side of too much OTT cheesy fluff. And I love cheesy fluff. It was saccharine, but some heavier parts kept it (barely) in check.
3.95/5. It needs some TLC, but it was another really good fated mates love story. As for my personal opinion, It wasn’t my favourite of the series, but that’s just me.
I tried really hard to like this but just couldn't do it. I made it to 43% and couldn't go any further. Every character was just too sweet, too understanding, just tooooo. The two main characters are both damaged and that is repeated over and over. At some point they just needed to get over it since the were destined mates and knew that they would never hurt each other...that too was repeated over and over. This was just not my cup of tea.
This is third book of the series and very similar to the first two. The story was sweet, the characters were sweet and insecure, but hey, they're fated mates, so it works out. There's no real drama, and the tiny bit there is gets resolved within a page or two. All in all, very light and fluffy.
It was nice to see more of the other characters, particularly the pack, and the animals were great.
*I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this story, best read after the earlier books in the series, as the Niall was introduced earlier on, I really enjoyed the continuing story. The characters are real with flaws and fears and their growing group of friends is lovely to see. The chemistry was well written, in regards to the previous lives of the main protagonists, sweet and slow and a sweet ending.
The last (for now) book in the Mages of Ravenshire series is a sweet story filled with love. A bit angsty as the abused vampire, Niall, learns to trust and love again. The necromancer, Aeron, is a patient mage, who is willing to give Niall as much space as possible to heal. You never doubt their love for each other. Or their commitment. Raph and Jai and Cass and Gus come out to play. There's a rescue and a marriage. And even a new friend, a half Siren who will hopefully get his HEA soon.
Sooo good!! Niall is a vampire who we met in Sleep of Eternity when he helped Cass wake up Gustave. Niall had been held captive and abused, he was very skittish. He finds Aeron, who has escaped his own captivity, injured. He then realizes that Aeron his semnyar (soulmate). This was sweet and fluffy!! Loved it!! I’m voluntarily leaving a review from an advanced copy that I received.
I did disappoint, 😍 Nail deserves he happy ending and he got it, necromancer mage Aeron, I was not expecting how his magic works, but it was perfect, the I also love how the others friends show up and we got to see more of our favorites characters and this book. I am satisfied but at same time I want more
I do not give spoilers in my reviews, so if you are looking for those look else where. I have to say this story was just so sweet the two main characters just seemed so perfect for one another. I really truly loved this book cannot wait for more from this series. A must read series
Very sweet and special. Both men are healing from past traumas and find that in each other they can start to mend. Not so much of a romantic story but about building trust and bonding as people. This will give you all the feels and entice you in to enjoy the family everyone has found together. I really liked how easily everyone just vibe with each other and how relaxed the atmosphere was.
Niall was still struggling with the memories of his years of slavery when he found an injured man lying in his driveway, he phones his friends for help. He realises that the man is a Mage, in fact he's a Necromancer and Niall's fated mated. MM, Paranormal Romance, book 3 in an ongoing series, slow burn.
