Boyfriends Maybe

Rate this book
Aiden has three simple rules to protect himself

1. No dates.
2. No sleepovers.
3. No falling in love.

The rules work. They always have. Until he meets a nerdy film major, with big brown eyes and a nat for rambling.

Skyler C. Bailey lives to capture people's raw emotions and life stories through a lens camera. He’s a true introvert who is happiest filming life, instead of living it. Until the night he runs into a gay porn star, and his whole world is turned upside down.

Maybe Aiden and Skyler can be boyfriends.

I love pornstars. 😁 I really do and I have great admiration for people who are ballsy enough to work in this industry. ❤️ So it’s no wonder I also love books which have pornstar protagonists! 😉

Aiden knows relationships aren’t for him. Who wants to date a pornstar and have a relationship with them? People want to f*ck him but don’t want to keep him. Skater is really shy and insecure about well .. almost everything. But he has one passion in life and that’s films. When a chance encounter brought Aiden and Sklyer together, they were enamored instantly. But a sizzling attraction doesn’t make working relationships. With lots of unsaid words between them, our boys have a long way to go before they can get their fairytale ending.

Overall, a really enjoyable book with some angst before the ending. I liked that Skyler had no issue with Aiden being a pornstar but those two men are quite idiotic while they were dating. 🙄 They loved each other but were afraid to express their feelings. 🤦‍♀️ Especially Tyler because his trust had been broken multiple times before. However in the end, they got their heads out of their arses and confessed their love to each other. The sex scenes were insanely hot. 🔥 Overall, a really lovely read with steamy sex and a lovely ending. Looking forward to reading next book in the series. 😌

Sweet and Romantic

I truly enjoyed this delightful , fun and sexy , romantic story .

I fell head over heels in love for Aiden and Skyler , their sweet , romantic relationship and fairy tale HEA.

This is a heartwarming , tiny bit of angst , high love , fluffy story . It gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling and left me with a big smile on my face and in heart.

I am so happy, I took the chance and got Never Trust a P**n Star. No only, it was a pleasure to read , I was introduced to a "new to me" author and I'm looking forward reading more of her work.

Received an ARC through LesCourt and this is my unbiased feedback.

Okay… I really tried with this one, but I honestly struggled hard right from the start so I dnfed it at 58% 😕.

The writing just didn’t work for me and there was so much info-dumping I had to keep skimming just to get through it. Way too much random detail that felt more like filler than anything actually important to the story.
And I couldn’t connect with the characters at all, no matter how much I kept hoping it would click eventually, it just didn’t happen. They felt flat and I never got that moment where I started to care.

Also, the title really set up false expectations. I thought this would be spicy or at least have some kind of adult entertainment plot (based on the name), but honestly? The “porn” part barely even shows up and has nothing to do with the actual story. Felt kind of misleading.

I almost feel bad saying all this because I know a lot of people loved this book… but for me? It just wasn’t it.

Decent read. I mostly liked the characters fine. (You'll see why mostly in a bit.) The story was mostly just a sweet romance. It moves quickly but doesn't feel terribly insta-lovey to me. The think that bugged me was the melodrama. The misunderstandings. It just felt....shallow and ridiculous. Also, Skyler cries. A. LOT. Nothing wrong with crying. But it happens SO MUCH. I promise I'd say this about a female character too. He cries over nothing. He cries when he's sad. He cries when he's happy. He's a crier. Ugh. I liked his bestie 98% percent of the time. Aiden's occupation doesn't actually impact the plot. At all. I didn't like how that part ends really. It was out of the blue and I wasn't a fan of the message it sends. So yeah....decent read. Don't regret reading it.

3.5 star Aiden and Skyler

No commitments, no second dates, just hookups and fun, that’s our pornstar Aiden.
Study and study, no dates, who would even want to date a shy nerd like him, that’s Skyler.

When Aiden meets Skyler he is smitten by the shy guy who can blush like no other.
Skyler can’t believe to stand in front of his favorite hot pornstar. And he certainly can’t believe Aiden wants anything to do with him. Aiden wants nothing more than to be with Skyler. He doesn’t recognize his feelings. They have just fun.
Skyler has a low self-esteem, even more after his last boyfriend left him, he’ll never be enough, certainly not for a pornstar.

It was a sweet light story. I loved the hurt/comfort. Skyler’s friend Zoey was feisty, she brought some fun in his life. The story had a strong focus on Aiden’s perspective towards the extremely shy Skyler. How he was amazed by this creature and how he did things he never did before.
The story has some small side stories to complete the whole picture. It was slightly developed and made this into a light read. I found it a pleasant one to absorb and I read it in one sit.

Aiden's exactly what you'd expect of a porn star - no commitment, no dating, fun only and no repeats. Until he meets shy, awkward Skyler, and suddenly Aiden's seeing things (and feeling things) in a whole new light. Can two such opposites possibly hope to make a relationship work?

This was better than its title suggested. I like the opposites attract theme, and how Aiden's character develops over the course of the story. But I liked Skyler most of all. He's so sweet and shy, but such a wonderful guy. I could totally picture him in my mind and he was just too adorable. I kinda thought he was too good for Aiden sometimes, but Aiden redeems himself in the end and I was able to understand why Skyler fell for him. All in all, a solid, entertaining read.

I'm kind of stuck on where to go with this review. While NTaPS was a fairly entertaining read, it didn't quite live up to my expectations. I found Skyler to be quite adorable- I enjoyed his ramblings and unfiltered thoughts, and his sweet vulnerability. In many ways, Aiden wasn't exactly what you'd expect from a successful pornstar, but in other ways he was- until Skyer crosses his radar. I liked how careful and caring Aiden was with Skyler. Their romance was quick, although Aiden did try to fight it, as his feelings for Skyler were so much more intense than anything he'd felt before.

Although the romance was the biggest part of the story, I was just expecting more after reading the blurb- I wanted more background into how Aiden ended up becoming a pornstar. Unless I missed something, we never really got the story of how or why his ex leaked a video of them. For it to be mentioned in the blurb, I would have thought it would have been at least brought up, maybe in conversation between Aiden and Skyler.

Overall, this was a light, easy read. Skyler and Aiden are proof that opposites do attract, and that love pops up when you least expect it.

* I was gifted an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review *

This is a book full of sexual tension and scorching hot sex scenes.
I am a huge fan of romance books featuring pornstars or a rent boys, it's always interesting to see them find true love and acceptance.

This is an entertaining, fast read with a nerdy film student and a huge star of gay porn industry. It should have been wonderful, but unfortunately I found it too short to be believable. Everything happened too fast (I don't really believe in love at first sight and Aiden and Sky did not spend enough time together for my liking). Aiden is kind of adorable with his constant rambling and no mouth-to-brain filter but after a while it got a little bit annoying. I liked Aiden, but I wish we got some background story about his parents so it would be easier to understand his behavior.

All in all, it is a nice, incredibly sweet and sexy story with likable characters, but my expectations were definitely too high.

DNF 57%.

I really struggled with the start of this book. I didn’t like the writing (short sentences, weird rhythm) and there was so much info-dumping that I basically disliked the characters from page one.
It gets a little better, or maybe I got used to it, but not enough to keep me going. The writing is still weird, and the amount of useless information is insane, especially if paired with those short sentences. It could’ve been a bulleted list.

I almost feel bad, because it seems everyone loved this book, and the sex industry setting was truly something I was looking forward to. But yeah, I just couldn’t enjoy it.

I read this book :

Never Trust a Porn Star
by
Brea Alepoú

Blurb :

Aiden Scott is the hottest thing right now in the online adult entertainment world. Women gush. Men applaud his techniques. And everybody wishes they could be his next partner. Thanks to one little video uploaded by an ex, he’s become famous. His family might disapprove of his methods, but Aiden embraces this notoriety and revels in the reviews. In typical Scott fashion, Aiden’s made a f**king career—out of f**king.

Aiden has rules in place to protect himself. He doesn’t date. He won’t do sleepovers. He's never been interested in someone longer than it takes to reach a mutual climax.

The rules work. They always have. Until he meets one nerdy film major, with big brown eyes and it has him questioning everything.

Skyler C. Bailey is a film major and twenty-one years old. It’s his junior year of college at Vanderbilt. He lives to capture people's raw emotions and life stories through a lens camera. A true introvert at heart, one night out and his whole world is turned upside down. He tries to ignore the growing feelings inside, he’s been there and done that. Been stomped on and pushed to the side. He doesn’t want to go through that again, but he can’t ignore his heart even if he’s afraid he’s about to learn the hardest lesson of all: never trust a p*rn star.

Not sure why the reviews, the genre and basically everything is showing its a mmmm paranormal romance. Goodreads glitch huh?

I read this back when it was - Never Trust a Pornstar. I expected it to be sexy, but it was more sweet. It's good the author changed the name, since porn has little to do with the story. It sets up false expectations.

The book was "just" interesting enough to finish. With little to no angst or drama, it's on the dull side. The only conflict is the typical eleventh hour breakup. It's resolved after a lot of 🥱 dialogue.

Its So Sweet For My Taste Sung Won Cho GIF - Its So Sweet For My Taste Sung Won Cho Prozd GIFs
(some spoilers)

Skyler, the shy nerd, is small and sensitive.
Aiden is tall, outgoing, and has lots of sex on camera and off.

The MCs start spending time together, talking and having sex. Skyler thinks it's a relationship that's going somewhere. He cries when someone tells him that Aiden doesn't do relationships.

80%. Aiden takes Skyler to a family function. There he introduces him as his friend. Skyler goes to the bathroom to cry. Afterwards, he tells Aiden that he loves him. Aiden looks away and tells him they're just friends. A friend interrupts, and takes Skyler home.

A week passes. Aiden is unhappy. He continues to tell everyone that he and Skyler were just friends. His excuses: Love doesn't work for him, no one wants to date a pornstar, his parents weren't loving, Skyler deserves someone better. 🙄 Several people talk to and counsel Aiden. They get him to admit his feelings, and decide to go after his man. (He procrastinates.)

Two weeks later, Skyler cries every time he thinks of Aiden. It's Skyler's turn for counseling. Someone talks to him, and tells him that it's time for him to stop feeling sorry for himself. That he bet Skyler didn't fight for Aiden. (Like it's Skyler's fault! 😡) Skyler decides to go after Aiden.

😤 The Resolution. The MCs both take responsibility for the breakup, and apologize to each other. Why Skyler had to apologize was beyond me. He shared his feelings, and then it was up to Aiden to make the grand gesture to prove his love. Or at least to talk to him about it! The whole scene was dull and disappointing. Skyler cries when they get back together. (No surprise. 😬)

The ending is super saccharine.
Sugarrush GIF - Sugarrush Sugar GIFs

Aiden is now directing, instead of doing porn. The MCs moved in together. Time is spent with family after Christmas. There's talk of marriage and thoughts of having kids.

Recommended for those looking for a light & fluffy romance, rather than one with depth and realism. Don't read expecting hot sex scenes. There are two or three basic scenes, where the MCs get off. I didn't feel any genuine love or passion.

I haven't read any other Never Trust novels, but I don't really feel the title does the story justice. The characters are very likable and well developed, and the writing style is smooth and flows nicely.

Aiden is from a prestigious family, but when his ex handed him lemons in the past, he chose to make lemonade. Now he's one of the most sought after porn stars in the business; not that he really needs to work. But he has his rules: he doesn't date, he doesn't do romance, and he doesn't do the same partner more than once.

Skyler is a 21 year old junior in college, and a film studies major. His one relationship left him confused, hurt, and insecure. His final project for the semester is about the sex work industry, and when his best friend Zoey forces him to go out to a club, fortune shines upon him. There he meets Ryan and Travis when they rescue him from aggressive, greedy hands on the dance floor. Skyler knows he has seen Ryan somewhere, but...

Aiden has been keeping up with his family's obligations all evening, and he wasn't sure he really wanted to come out after all. But when he sees an innocent cutie sitting with his friends, he's ready to go home all right; and not alone. However, something holds him back, and causes him to take things slowly. He even gives the guy his real number before watching him walk away with his friend.

As time passes, Skyler interviews the guys at the studio while Aiden tells himself that friends can do things together...like dates. The more time that passes, the more inseparable the two become. But when Skyler interviews Ryan, he mentions Aiden's ways with men. Skyler finds himself once again fearing that his beliefs about what has been going on are one sided, but he keeps his fears to himself.

When Aiden's ignorance is revealed, and not in a private setting, Skyler knows he has made the same mistake for the second time in his life. After all, they had never even discussed what was going on between them. He is angry, hurt, and humiliated, so he simply does what he feels he must. It takes Aiden being whacked in the head with a metaphorical two-by-four before he becomes cognizant of his own stupidity.

Eventually, the two find their way back to each other, groveling ensues, and forgiveness is granted. I did really enjoy this book very much, so I will have to check out any other Never Trust novels I come across. And, of course, our introverted, documentary loving, student, and the porn star that doesn't believe in love find their happily ever after.

Happy reading!

Get carried away

Aiden oozes sex appeal and confidence and meets shy and adorably awkward Skyler at a club. Normally Aiden is one-and-done but there’s something special about sweet Skyler that elicits a more tender response from Aiden. They have a strong an immediate attraction but both are cautious when it comes to relationships.

I really liked Skyler’s passion for his project and how animated he became when talking about it but he second guesses himself when it comes to anything else. I wanted to give him all the hugs. Good thing he has Zoey on his side to yank him out of his shell. I also enjoyed Skyler’s ramblings and how he just said whatever popped into his head even when he didn’t mean to. It was funny and sexy. Poor Skyler and his breakfast endeavor but I bet he looked hot covered in flour. Aiden and Skyler are so cute together and I love how Aiden carries him around. Zoey’s nicknames for Aiden are funny and Skyler’s outlook on sex is refreshing, informed and open-minded. He really is the perfect partner.

Aiden is pretty blind for not seeing what’s right in front of him, but Skyler could also communicate better. I’m glad Clay and his aunt gave Aiden a much needed wake up call. Even if Rodger is somewhat of a jerk, he has some wise words for Skyler. I’m so proud of him for facing his fears and fighting for what he wants. Ha, the clerk in the flower shop and her advice for Aiden. Wow, he went all out with his makeup gifts for the family, and I do want my own pocket-sized Skyler. An absolutely wonderful love story that will leave you happy with all the feels.

Holy crap! Never Trust a P**n Star is an amazing read. It will catch your attention and never let you go.

The fun starts when nerdy Skylar is suddenly pursued by Aidan, who happens to be a famous gay porn star. The chemistry between Skylar and Aidan is amazing, and I love every moment of their journey. Seriously though, this is a story of a famous porn star pursuing a shy and awkward college film student. Of course it's a great story. Luckily for the readers, the writing is phenomenal, thus carrying out this remarkable story in a riveting manner.

I love this story. Both men are lovable, and I appreciate the way that the porn industry is illustrated. Skylar's view on sex, which is progressive and open-minded, is a fabulous thing to read. Too often we find characters who are jealous and closed minded. I truly love this aspect of the Skylar.

Adding to the fun, Skylar's school project is about the porn industry, allowing him to be passionate and understanding of Aidan's work.

Add in some supportive and entertaining secondary characters, just the right amount of angst, and you'll love this story.

Next time you're looking to read about a porn star, jump into this Brea Alepou read. Never Trust a P**n Star is a stunningly sweet tale and it's one hell of a read that is sure to satisfy.

I really liked this. I was honestly expecting to get a little more annoyed by it because the title implies Aiden is a jerk that shouldn't be trusted, but I didn't really get that vibe at all. Aiden was not one for relationships but there was something about Skylar that he couldn't resist. Skyler knew of Aiden's work as a porn star but was intrigued by the real him. I liked their story and journey to love. What makes this more of a 3.5 star read for me, though, was that despite the words of sex industry positivity, there was still a small feeling at the end of...I can't think of the right word...not shame, but avoidance, maybe? I also wish they would've talked more about his job. The title tells what his job is and implies it is an important part of the story, but it felt like it was minimized.
That's small, though. Overall, I liked Skylar and Aiden. This was a good book.

"Always be yourself. Never try to hide who you are. The only shame is to have shame. Always stand up for what you believe in. Always question what other people tell you. Never regret the past, it's a waste of time. There's a reason for everything. Every mistake, every moment of weakness, every terrible thing that has happened to you, grow from it. The only way you can ever get the respect of others is when you show them you respect yourself. Most importantly, do your thing and never apologize for being you." ~Attitude to Inspiration~

I absolutely loved this book! I actually wanted to started reading it from the beginning as soon as I finished. Aiden's a porn star and Skyler is a sweet, shy nerd who's in college and researching the industry. They end up meeting at a club when Skyler's best friend Zoey dragged him out for the night. It was insanely cute how they interacted. Aiden's confident but yet sweet demeanor and Skyler always blushing and being awkward with his random rambling. Also the heat factor is 10☆. It was fire and I fully enjoyed this story!! I really loved the way the relationship progressed and it felt realistic. This book is being added to my re-read list when I need a break between books or just an awesome book to fall back on. Can't gush enough!! ♡♡♡

💕Sweet, 🌶spicy and a bit of a surprise😊
👍👥🔥💕
This story was much😍 sweeter than I had anticipated, but no less a good, romantic MM relationship with a satisfying helping of 🌶saucy bits. Aiden, the blue movie hunk, advertises himself as not into emotional investment in a relationship, but I guess, even for him, it just takes the right person to break down his barriers. For a fellow used to one night stands, he sure knows how to plan a super "non-date." Film student Skyler is just too sweet for words but somehow Aiden makes him drop his shyness and inhibitions. There's a great telephone call that gets their juices flowing:🔥 hot! A great couple with minor angst.

I liked that the author kept the story pretty fully focused on the couple. The secondary characters like Skyler's BFF Zoey, Aiden's work mate Ryan and even Skyler's irascible roomie Rodger provided sounding boards and complemented their story but kept in the fringes.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

I was impressed by this delightful little gem.

Skyler is such a sweet, awkward, adorable man I just wanted to hug him and keep him. He’s prone to the most delightful rambles when nervous and is an introvert. Lucky he has his best friend Zoey, who has no filter and comes up with hilarious nicknames, to get him out and about. Skyler also carries over some insecurities from a past relationship.

Aiden is super confident in himself and just oozes charm and sexual magnetism. He doesn’t date/have second dates, do sleepovers and, due to his parents, has a skewed perception of love.
When they meet there is instant chemistry but they take their time and slowly develop that immediate connection. Then the heat level rises dramatically.
With just a touch of angst along the way, they do get their HEA.

This well written little gem left me with a smile on my face and I recommend it if you want a low angst, sweet romance with all the feels.

Never Trust a Porn Star is a cute, fairly low-angst, opposites-attract story between a rich and confident porn star, and an introverted and socially anxious film major. At times, this book did feel a little along the lines of "telling, not showing", with an overuse of "Skyler did this..." and then "Aiden did that..." Despite this, I didn't struggle to finish the story at all. It was still very engaging and I think most of that comes down to the characters themselves. I loved Skyler and his introverted and hilariously awkward nervous energy. He had no filter around Aiden and it was so cute! Aiden, for his part, was completely enamoured with Skyler, and since he'd never felt that way before, he was confused and in denial about what they were to each other. My favourite part was the refreshing resolution at the end. It took a bit for Aiden to admit what he was truly feeling to himself, but once he did, both he and Skyler refused to give up and worked to meet each other halfway.

Oh that one was interesting and sweet

A p*rn star who met a shy college student.

One year after a hard separation, Skyler was slowly but hardly trying to get back on the dating scene.
P*rn star, Aiden, has his own fears, doubts and conclusions about relationships. He doesn't even venture into it. Besides, why venture out when you're a p*rn star? No one wants to date a P*rn star.

In this book, not much of a studio scene. The book is more focused on the evolution of the relationship between the 2 characters.

Read it and fall in love with a nerd who rambles and blushes over nothing. Also contains a dose of Aiden's masculine, protective, and slightly dumbed-down nature.

The whole thing has a sweetness, a way of getting to know its characters that is incredible, we discover them with a smile in their face and we all want to adopt a Skyler.

More schummy than that, I would have looked like someone who takes pills that make you laugh.

What a sweet, hot, adorable, sexy, funny, amazing story! I literally couldn´t put the book down until I finished it. Skyler and Aiden had my heart in their hands from the very beginning. This book made me smile and grin through 90% the last 10% my heart was breaking for them a little. But they put it back together beautifully. Although the story concentrates highly on Aiden´s and Skyler´s story it never gets boring but Brea Alepoù manages beautifuly to describe their way to each other, which is pure bliss.
I was reading on the train and the woman next to me asked me what my book was about since it had me smiling so brightly. True story. And even when I put it down I took the wonderful feeling from it with me and am still daydreaming about that dream couple.
Absolutely recommended!

3.5 I received an ARC for an honest review.

This was a quick, fun read. Skyler is sweet, adorable, and dorky. He has a passion for film. I loved his open-mindedness about the porn industry. It was very refreshing. Aiden is sexy, confident, and normally a one-and-done guy. However, he was protective of Skylar and oblivious to his own feelings for him.

There is low angst, and the only conflict is both Skylar's and Aiden's caution with relationships. I liked the secondary characters. I wish things would have developed more. Skylar and Aiden had chemistry, but they never addressed their past relationships to each other, which was the whole reason both these characters were hesitant. Other than that, I enjoyed the read.

Not what I expected from Brea Alpeou. This differs from her normal harem worlds I have read in the past. This one is more contemporary even if one of the main characters is a porn star. But yet she hit it out of the park with this one! I love the dynamic and the no shaming of this industry this book portrays. I love how Aiden Scott is a confident man to the world, secure in what he does and how he lives his life, yet struggles when it comes to relationships and love. He crosses path with the adorable yet nerdy Skylar who rambles through his nervousness. This is a great story of how these two have to over come their own personal hurdles in order to find a relationship together. Very enjoyable read!

Wow! Talk about falling in love with the cutest character!!!

Skyler loves to ramble, so when he meets the one guy he fantasizes over, he is one bumbling mess, until Aiden breaks through the rambles and damn they are cute together!!!

But when Skyler assumes that the relationship is progressing, Aiden isn’t capable of reciprocating... or is he?

Chapter 8 is sure to light your pages as it heats up 😉

Then you get to their date night and that was when my iPad was about to die so of course it was very climatic for me!!!!

But I loved this book! I loved the characters and the story line was perfect for them!

Aiden is a porn star who doesn’t believe that anyone can fall in love with him because of his career. He doesn’t do dates, comments, and just like having hookups. Skyler only studies no dates and no fun. He’s having trouble getting over his first breakup. When the two meet, you can see the sparks between them from start to finish throughout the book. The book is sweet, romantic, some angst, funny, and the characters in it is likable. I love how the author showed us both POV of Skyler and Aiden. The friends and families really are the ones who made them see what they are missing. It’s a great book and I read it in one sitting.
