An amusing and enjoyable novel of modern manners that is way under the radar and easily found for a few dollars. Lane Kauffmann (1921-1988) published eight novels by my count over a 20-year period (1954-1973), and appears to have explored many directions in his fiction instead of sticking with one template. He is a characteristic midlist writer of mid-century whose work begs for delving by the curious.
