Touring with America's hottest rock band should be a dream come true for Molly Steinberg.
But she never wanted it to happen, not like this.
Paris, Madrid, Milan... London. The distance should help, but no matter how far she puts between her and her hometown, she can't outrun what happened.
But here she can't escape the one guy who has the power to decimate her heart.
Black Hearts Still Beat heartthrob Hudson Ryker doesn't believe in happily-ever-afters.
He thinks love makes you weak.
Reckless.
He thinks love has the power to ruin you.
No one gets under his skin like Molly Steinberg. And now she's here, in his space, looking at him with those haunted eyes and sad smile. He wants to fix her, to piece her back together again.
But no matter how hard they try to not make promises to one another... it's impossible. Because you can't outrun love. You can't outrun the past either.
As life implodes around them, their relationship is put to the ultimate test...
It was supposed to be temporary. Finite. But maybe... just maybe, this time it's forever.
*Riot is set in the Black Hearts Still Beat world. It should be read after the other books in the series. Due to mature content, this book is recommended for readers 18+

I had been afraid about this story after how Molly showed up on tour at the end of Ruin. I knew from that moment that something bad had happened and it was something that would change the game. Reading Riot was hard. It was very emotional, both main characters are dealing with emotional trauma and also their feelings for one another.
This was an emotional book, but I think that's what made it so beautiful. These two connected in a deeper way, and their brokenness made them open their eyes to their true feelings. It was like two broken pieces coming together to form a whole piece, with a few chips here and there.
Hudson surprised me so much. He had an incredibly sweet side that I adored. I loved seeing him so protective of Molly and just acting so understanding and supportive with her. It made me fall for him even harder. He was dealing with some issues from his past and my heart hurt for him too. He had a lot of doubts about his feelings, and mostly about whether love was worth the potential future pain. It was hard to see him doubt it all.
Molly. I have always loved her. It was hard watching her in so much suffering. She wasn't the same after what she went through and watching her keep her distance from everyone really messed with my feelings. But slowly, with everyone's help, and time, she started taking over the reins of her life again. It was beautiful to watch that, too.
Once again, the bandmate shenanigans provided much laughter. I love their friendships so much. They are a pain in each other's buts but it's so fun, and they take it in stride. As always, this book ended with a little insight into the next book and gosh I'm so excited for the last BHSB member to find love. I loved Damon's novella, and I've been dying for some progress about these two. After the last chapter of Riot, I'm dying for his book. Too bad the wait will be so long.

"Love doesn't care about the rules. It creeps up on you and it catches you by surprise."
Finally, I've read Molly and Hudson's story and what a beautiful ride was that!!! If you have read the previous four books, you already have taken an insight on Molly and Hudson's story!!! These two had their fun together in the past, but he was a rockstar and she was a simple girl with many obligations and there was nothing more for these two. Or was it??? I remember Hudson always reacted in a bad way everytime that Molly's name was mentioned and I was waiting for their story like a hawk!!! And finally, here they are... But things are very different now!!!
"I knew that whatever had once existed between us was gone. Because the girl who had once hoped to tame the Black Hearts drummer... She was gone."
In the end of "Ruin", Molly showed up on the band's doorstep and asked for a shelter... Nowadays, Molly is travelling the world alongside Black Hearts and her best friend, Eva, but while it used to be a dream of hers, the reasons behind that step are leaving a bad taste in her mouth!!! Molly is not the same girl we used to know back then... She is not the feisty and flirty girl that had something with the infamous heartbreaker, Hudson Ryker... She is a broken girl and she is trying to run away from her demons...
"Hudson Ryker didn't get close to anyone. And I knew if I gave in now, I would only end up more hurt than I already was."
Hudson is not meant for something permanent... Love had left its own bad taste on Hudson's tongue and he is refusing to settle down... But Molly was always getting under his skin and even though he was refusing to let her in, she was very insisted... And now, Molly is back, but she is anything like the girl he hooked up with in the past... This version of hers pains him and it brings protective feelings in the surface... He just wants to shelter her and not let go... But Hudson has his own share of demons to face...
"She'd made it clear from the start she wanted me and who was I to turn down a pretty girl? But I'd underestimated the mark she would leave."
I loved this couple from the very first moment I met them and I was craving them badly!!! I was expecting their story to be more explosive from the glimpses of the past, but instead we got a lot of heartache... But heartache was suiting them!!! In here, we saw a different side of both of them... Molly became more vulnerable, but in Hudson, we discovered a softer side that he was having only for Molly and it was a beautiful thing to witness!!! These two were meant to be, but they had too many demons to face, if they wanted a shot at love!!!
"She was just a girl, and I had a never-ending line of those. But she wa sin there. Burrowed inside my chest, wrapped wround my black fucking heart."{Hudson}
"I'd always known Hudson Ryker had the power to ruin me. I just hadn't predicted it would be because he wanted my heart."{Molly}
I love this series very much!!! I love how close these guys are between them... I love how possessive they are with their women... Their chosen family is everything and I love reading about their adventures!!! And of course, I can not wait for the last member of the "Black Hearts Still Beat" to find his HEA!!! Damon with Ruby, ugh??? It sounds soooo delicious!!!
"There was something intense about it, the way our bodies moved together. The way our eyes held each other's, full of silent promises. Promises we'd promised not to make."
How much I love this book!!! I finished it few moments ago, and I still cannot believe that we finally have Hudson and Molly's story. I want to cry, I want scream - from excitement of course, because I was waiting for their book since, the first moment I've met them. LA Cotton made my day with letting us to read Riot. It is official - I'm in love with this book, with Black Hearts...Molly and Hud.
I LA Cotton delivers another amazing story, full of angst, emotions and... old friends. It was so good to come back into Black Hearts world. I didn't even realized, how much I missed these characters. I read this book in one setting, because once I've met boys and girls, I couldn't put this book down. It was literally like coming back home.
Hudson and Molly are bringing rather slow burn type of romance and SO MUCH ANGST, with secrets, that crushed my heart into milion pieces. Their love story isn't easy, they both are stubborn AF, so from first pages there were a lot of tension tension between them. It was sinfully delicious slow burn, but hellll.... LA Cotton is a master with this kind of love stories, right???
Riot was everything what I expected and more - don't waste Your time, read it when You'll only can. Must read alert!
Hudson and Molly are going to rip your heart out and then slowly put you back together!
There is so much more to Hudson Ryker the ladies man and self proclaimed bachelor of Black Hearts Still Beat! He may love the lime light and the attention of the ladies but his true self hides in the shadows!
Molly for a moment in time had his attention but when nothing more than fun in the sheets is promised she tries to find her one only to be left scared and return a shell of who she once was!
With the band and Eve going on tour Molly finds herself tagging along to heal and find reprieve! Hudson finds himself trying to sleigh her demons while fighting his own but both knowing once they give in there is no going back and neither can afford the gamble when their hearts are on the line!!
I think this book has definitely skyrocketed to the top in my favorites of this series because I loved seeing these two grow and learn from life!
I was so happy to travel back to the rock star world of Black Hearts Still Beat. I loved the chemistry that Molly and Hudson had in passing throughout the earlier stories in this series and was so excited to see what the drummer would do when faced with the one girl who managed to get under his skin. Both have secrets they don't want to share and yet having to travel together on the European leg of the band's international tour, their feelings and sexual chemistry bubbles to the surface.
Molly has been hurt before and Hudson does not do relationships, however seeing how great Hudson was whenever he was around Molly made my heart melt. I loved seeing these two together. Another fantastic addition to this rockstar universe.
Hudson & Molly's book was 5 plus stars . Hudson had a black heart that Molly turned to red by giving him her love . Hudson was Molly's rock when she was unsure of things happening with & around her. Molly was everything Hudson needed it just took some time to find there path to love . I adored Molly's little brother's you could tell they were the center of her world. Hudson ryker is officially taken.
I knew I was gonna love these two and I have not been disappointed. Hudson and Molly are fantastic together! Their story is kind of a slow burn, didn’t see you coming, story. They first meet at the beginning of their series when Molly goes with Eva to the talent contest. They shared one night together and have had on again, off again, interactions ever since. However Molly's world implodes and that is how this story starts.
Hudson is a love them and leave them player. Why have a relationship with one person when you can enjoy everything the rock star life has to offer. However he is also an amazing man with his own childhood battle scars. Molly has always been his he just never cared to see it. When she shows up in tears and broken he becomes her protector. And though he fights his feelings his heart and brain slowly work to make him see the truth.
The Molly we meet at the beginning of this story isn't the Molly we have come to know. She is scared and broken. Not even being with her best friend, Eva, seems to help. I hated how broken she was. I hated it even more when we finally learn the truth.
This book seemed tamer than the previous books. I honestly didn't mind that though. It was nice to read a rock star romance that wasn't overpowered by all the drama and craziness. Yeah both Molly and Hudson have their own drama. But compared to Levi and Rafe/Eva it was calm. It wasn’t over dramatized and I appreciated that, especially for Molly. She didn't need all that craziness while dealing with her own personal issues. I really enjoyed this book and now cannot wait for Damon's story. That man needs his own HEA, though I have a feeling that his will be interesting.
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review*
After what she went through Molly is trying to pick up the pieces of her life and reclaim the woman she used to be, and she is hoping that going on tour with her best friend Eva and the rest of Black Hearts will allow her to do that. She has built walls to protect herself, but Hudson has always held a special place in her heart and this time is no different.
Hudson still bears the emotional scars of his past and not only doesn’t he want to feel that pain again, but he doesn’t feel he is worthy. The one thing he does know is that he can’t stand by without trying to help Molly heal but will it allow him to heal as well?
I enjoyed seeing the evolution of both these characters as Molly shows how strong she truly is while Hudson becomes not only the man he is destined to be but the man Molly needs him to be. They take us on an emotional and angst filled journey as they find the happiness they both deserve.
Riot is book 5 in the Black Hearts Still Beat series. This is Hudson's and Molly's story and ive been waiting since the first book to read their story and wow their are somemuch ups and downs between this loving couple that theis story will draw you in to this love story.
I feel like Molly & Hudson were completely different characters from past books in this series. They both had more issues & secrets than I was expecting. My heart hurt for Molly & everything she had been through. Hudson was much deeper of a character, he felt so deeply & you could tell he really cared about Molly. I was really excited to finally get their story & it was worth the wait.
Hudson is a beautiful man with a heart of gold but a past that haunts him still. He is afraid love destroys a person because seeing his mother dwindle away to nothing and choose her escape over taking care of him has made him bitter when it comes to commitments. Hudson and Molly have a connection but Hudson being himself pushes her away reminding her he doesn’t do relationships and Molly knows not to push him but sometimes you can’t help how you feel. Molly has a beautiful heart and has a spark to her but now coming back she has lost herself and the only person that can seem to help her is Hudson but only he can take so much without her opening up. Hudson is conflicted about his feelings for Molly, her situation, and now they are on tour together how will he cope? Will this be the end to what they have or will they be able to help each other through their darkness? I loved their story because you know these two are made for each other but they have to battle their demons in order to get there. I loved getting to see the other characters we have come to love and watching Hudson become this loving guy was such a beautiful thing to witness.
Hudson and Molly’s book has been a long time coming and I am so stoked that it’s here, and it’s their time to shine and take us on their journey. It was an emotional, intense read that had me transfixed. Their chemistry is reactive. Molly completed Hudson and vice versa, together they found happiness. I loved this couple and I can’t wait for the next instalment in this series.
I have been looking forward to Molly and Hudson's story since we first were introduced to them in Rush, the first book of the series but after the way Molly showed up on the tour at the end of Ruin I knew it was going to be an emotional, heart-breaking, beautiful read.
The Molly we see now is not the same fun, easy going, confident girl we first met in Rush. She is more reserved and holds herself from everything and everyone including Eva which is so heart-breaking to see. But the girl we first met is still inside her fighting to be released and slowly with the help of Hudson, Eva and the rest of the band she starts to heal from what she went through and become a stronger version of herself which is beautiful to watch.
Hudson was quite surprising, there was so much more to him than meets the eye. We have all seen and fallen in love with his fun, cheeky side but there is a soft, sweet, protective side that we are introduced to. I absolutely adore how he treats Molly. He never pushes her to talk or do anything she doesn't want to do, he just offers his understanding and support it just makes you fall in love with him more. He is also dealing with his own issues from his past which makes him doubt himself and his feelings which is really sad to see.
I knew reading Riot wasn't going to be easy. Molly and Hudson are both dealing with emotional trauma while also fighting their feelings for each other, but this is what makes this book such an emotional read. To broken souls coming together at their toughest times and helping each other heal.
As always we get to see how the rest of the band is doing. I love the friendship's they all have with each other. They have their fights, issues and sometimes get on each others nerves but they all love each other deeply and no matter what always have each others backs.
Like with all the books in BHSB we get a little preview into the next book and I am so looking forward to Damon's story and what L.A Cotton has instore for us.
I have been waiting to read this book since i read the first book in the series!!! Hudson and Molly!! Eva's best friend and Hudson, dynamic drummer, playboy and joker for Black Hearts Still Beat. So If you have read the other amazing books in this series you will know that Molly and Hudson have had a on off thing for a while, neither having expectations or thinking its anything more than just having fun is or when they are in each others orbit. Hudson never dates or see's the same girl twice, he just can't, he has no faith in love nor wants it. He has a broken past and although he is intense he hide behind his mask of and fun with different groupies every night Molly fell for him but knows it would never go anywhere and she has moved on and now dating someone from her home town, Until the night she turns up at one of their concerts in a mess Oh how i devoured this book, the non caring Hudson is a man with such depth, although we have seen snippets of it throughout the series, he really did melt my heart with how he cared for Molly, how he just knew how to support her in all the right ways! Molly didn't make anything easy for him, she arrived broken and he helped her find her sassy fantastic self again but she knew he would also break her heart. When everything starts to crumble will Hudson return to his ways or will Molly be left shattered?? OMG YOU JUST HAVE TO READ IT !!!!!!!!! I can't even find a favorite with these boys ! I really do not want to leave their world!!!!
„I need you more than I have ever needed anything.”
If only Black Hearts Still Beat was a real band *sighs*… Riot is another spectacular addition to the series and I fell COMPLETELY in love with Hudson and Molly’s emotional love story. These two characters brought steam, angst and so many feels with their heart-gripping relantionship. L.A. Cotton’s writing is top notch as always, and I was totally captivated with this story from start to finish.
Riot secured the position of Black Hearts Still Beat as one of my favorite rock romance series. Not only was the love story described in this book touching and simply beautiful, it’s also wonderfully woven into the journey of the entire band. The description of the tour and the constant presence of the other members (and their other halves) reflects their friendship, familial atmosphere, shows all the ups and downs. These boys (and girls too) are the real deal and I'd give my left... something (lol!) to be a part of this amazing team.
Riot is a woderful story about fighting your demons and moving forward. It wrecks you to put you together later. Molly and Hudson’s story isn’t easy, but all the turmoil, tension and heartbreak is so worth it, when the outcome is so moving. Lianne did an amazing job with these two and I can’t wait for the grand finale in Rift! I need me some Damon!
Riot is book 5 in the Black Hearts Still Beat series. If you're like me you been waiting for Hudson's and Molly's story since the first book of this series.
There is so much I want to say about this one. First..Riot was well worth the wait. Second, LA once again wowed me with how remarkable this story was.
Molly was this sassy, confident, strong girl when we were first introduced to her. She stood on her own two feet with no worries. She's the best friend to Eva. She's the girl who puts the smile on your face....well she used to be. The girl goes through something big and no one knows excatly what that is.
Hudson...our loveable playboy. He is absolutely swoon worthy and his mouth will make any girl fall for him. I already said it He's a playboy. He has a history that I wasn't really expecting.
I needed this book for awhile. I really had no clue what direction L.A. would take this story. But let me tell you I didn't expect it. Riot was incredible. I couldn't put this one down. One more page...yea right. I couldn't stop at one.
“But this Hudson… the one who had dropped to his knees outside that club at the sight of me. Well, I didn’t know what to do with that Hudson. “Did he hurt you?” There was a softness to his voice that made my heart ache.”
Riot is Hudson and Molly’s story, but they’ve had plenty of introduction in the other books of the series. Another great instalment, that’s easy to read and a real page turner. Such likeable damaged characters, it’s heartbreaking, angsty, witty and has lots of steam. Hudson has been trying to ignore the memories of how good things were between him and Molly. He’s tried having different girls, but nothing compares to her and he’s struggling. Last thing he expected was to find her crying as he left the club, but he intends on finding out why she’s so sad. Whatever happened Molly is a shell of the bubbly, vivacious girl he remembers. Molly’s mum implores her to come back home and look after her little brothers. However Molly chooses to put herself first and becomes excess luggage on the European leg of the tour.
I’m a big fan of this series and this book was no exception. I love all the characters in this series and they are so prominent through the series but these two we didn’t know much about what was going on with them.
Hudson is your playboy of the band and him and Molly connected as soon as they met each other but there was so much to these two that it was awesome to finally get their story.
They both were a little broken, with Molly this wasn’t always the case but something happened and it was so sad, Hudson was always this way and i really liked finding out why he was the way he was.
This story had it all the angst, emotions and a true rock star storyline and i loved every bit of it.
If you have loved all the other books in this series you won’t be disappointed and if you haven’t started it then it’s a must
Wow, just wow! I love this series so much. It just keeps getting better and better. I have fallen in love with black hearts still beat. Hudson is so misunderstood. Beneath his rough exterior beats a heart of gold. Molly is a strong caring loving woman. Their ups and downs so sharp, yet they come back together. Can’t wait for the next book in this series… The only downside that I can see is that I’ve learned a lesson with this author. I will no longer buy her books until the series is complete. It was well over a year between book 4 and book 5 in this series which is just too much. If it was the only book she put out during that time I wouldn’t feel so bad but I feel this author has too many irons in the fire. Finish one series then move on. Your readers don’t wanna wait forever for the next installment
Molly would have loved touring with the band, if only it was in better circumstances, or at least the reason why she suddenly was with them. Molly needed a fresh start, the fact that her best friend was there with is was a bonus, her best friend found true love, something that Molly knew would only be a dream for her now. Hudson doesn’t think there is love or happily ever after for so many reasons. Something in Molly makes him want to protect her and fix her broken pieces, but Molly won’t let him in. Molly knows sooner or later she has to talk to someone and Hudson is there, he’s always there maybe he can help her get back to the girl she was before, the girl who loved him, or will his demons stop him giving love a chance. Can they make it work and their broken pieces become one together.
Molly and Hudson’s story is everything I hoped it would be. Black Hearts Still Beat is such a wonderfully immersive series; I love the broken damaged characters that inhabit this world, and Molly and Hudson are a perfect example.
Hudson is the kind of guy that loves them and leaves them, but somehow Molly gets under his skin. The initial attraction may have been instant and hot, but their developing relationship is a slow burner, filled with self doubt and emotion.
The band and its members remain central to the storyline, and the Molly and Hudson’s love story is played out amongst the complex relationships and underlying tensions of the group members.
A definite must read … I received an advanced copy of this book from the author.
I'm so happy it feels like coming home being back with some of my favourite characters. Hudson and Molly have a connection you can feel it jump from the page whenever they are together. I loved all the lingering looks when they thought the other wasn't looking. The conversations when the words they don't say have just as much meaning as the one's they do. I loved Hudson's tenderness with Molly he knew when to go full on and when to give her space. Molly was his person she was able to see the pain he carried beneath the facade he shows the world. I loved the passion between them it felt real but even better it was hot to read. As happy as I was to spend time with past characters Molly's little brothers are funny and adorable I wanted to squish them.
The pull between Hudson and Molly has been apparent since the first book of the series! While it was background to the other couples, we knew they would get their limelight one day, and readers will be so happy to see their story in Riot! Both have some darkness they need to work through, and I would say of the characters in Black Hearts Still Beat, Molly has changed the most since when we are first introduced to her, but I loved seeing both Hudson and Molly grow as individuals and a couple. Hudson was so unbelievably sweet and he is probably my favorite in the band. A fantastic read and a great addition to the series!
I have been waiting with anticipation for Hudson and Molly's story... omg it did not disappoint !! I loved the chemistry between these two! It was heart wrenching to know that they were both suffering so much and felt that they couldn't give the other what they deserved, yet they really did deserve the other, they could help heal the other. Hudson was just so swoonworthy, he was so gentle and caring with Molly.. til he wasn't.. but that's a whole other story - I wanted to slap him !! But I could understand why and he redeemed himself lol. I can never get enough of Lianne's words and I now can't wait for Damon's story !!
The chemistry between these two is off the charts but not just passion and lust but love, hunger and so much more. The emotions throughout this book are unreal and the way in which these two bring out the best in each other is so lovely to see. There’s bumps along the way but between Hudson and the crew Molly finds herself again and despite not being the girl she use to be she’s one that’s stronger and more open.
Loved being able to see what the band and girls have been up to as well as a sneak peak of the mystery behind what’s to come in Rift!
Molly and Hudson have danced around each other since book one in the Black Hearts Still Beat series and I couldn't wait to read their story. From page one you know that Molly is not who she used to be, she is broken. Hudson is the playboy of the band. Both of them have secrets and tragedy in their past. Can they heal each other.
Hudson really stepped up to help Molly through her turmoil. He thinks he is not the man for her but when he decided not to dismiss his feelings he went all in. But when the one thing Hudson fears rears its ugly head can he let Molly into his heart.
All of the characters in this series show you that you don't need to be blood related to be family.
Hudson and Molly have been connected since the very first book. I have been dying to see how these two would end up and I’m so glad it was together.
I love the chemistry these two have. I also adored how protective and caring Hudson became, it was a whole different side to his funny and obnoxiously loud persona. It was so refreshing.
I feel like this was a story or reclaiming yourself and finally healing from traumas that occur in life.
I really like L.A. Cotton’s writing. It easy, captivating and flows together beautifully.
The Black Hearts Still Beats series has been hands down my fave series by LA Cotton and Riot definitely did not disappoint. Riot tells the long-awaited story of Hudson and Molly. Let me tell you this story was well worth the wait. It is an emotional story that draws you in from the very beginning. Add in some steamy hotness as well as some laughs and banter from the rest of the band and crew and you have one heck of a great story! LA Cotton truly never disappoints and always leaves you hungry for more!
