The MisreadBible #3

The MisreadBible: Book of Moses

Rate this book
Four hundred years after their entry Egypt, God’s chosen people have managed to get themselves all enslaved. How can the omnipotent creator of the Universe free his people from bondage and deliver them to the promised land? By sending a random shepherd with a speech impediment to repeatedly threaten Pharaoh, that’s how.

In this satirical retelling of the biblical books of Exodus to Deuteronomy, the long-suffering Moses leads a tribe of grumbling Israelites through the desert whilst trying to appease a petulant deity who turns smitey at the drop of a hat.

Will he ever reach the promised land? Will there be any Israelites left unsmitten by the time he gets there? And what exactly is the Lord’s beef with yeast anyway?

Great !

J. R. Eldridge is a true comedian !

I’ve never listened to a comedy audiobook before this one, it’s when I seen that it’s about Moses that I desired to give it a try because the one person which have done all of God requests he never got any rewards for it, absolutely none, the opposite he got punished like God wouldn’t let him enter Israel and releasing from slavery in Egypt where they had it all and getting them into a land without milk and hunny and slavery all over again.
Also none of the Hebrew translation is true, it’s all funny inventions, also Moses keeps cursing Jesus Christ which won’t exist for thousands of years later and the English slang curses like holy shit and many more are also hilarious because English did not exist yet and it’s 20th century slang.
The author is nuts
And amazingly so !

laughing !

Excellent narration by Joshua Saxon.

When you know the lord is coming...

Oops, he did it again. Another blatant slap in the face to the creator of the universe by this upstart author from the UK. Let the smiting begin!

Is it… is it over?

Look, nobody is smiting anybody, except in this hilarious parody of Old Man Moses wandering in a desert for 40 years, one which Google says you can travel across, on foot, in 7 days. Yes, it’s another Yahweh smack-down as J.R. Eldridge pits his wits against the lord of creation, and has his way with big H Him one more time. From the outrageous smiting of his “chosen” people, to the childish acting out, god gets put in his place as the irredeemable adolescent psychopath he clearly is. The sulking, the complaining, the endless demands for barbecue, if you read the original and thought it was full of shit, now you can read this brilliant naked lunch of the holy book, where everyone gets to see what’s on god's fork, and feel vindicated at last!

PS: mileage may vary, depending on your religion and the religiosity of your sense of humor.
