An ongoing feud. A high stakes wager of winner takes all. When these two lovers-to-enemies clash, the Lone Star State will never be the same.
Growing up, Boone Murphy and his best buddy, Emma Johansen, were as thick as thieves. As toddlers, they ran naked through the sprinklers. In grade school, they shared bike rides, ice cream, and secrets. In high school, they easily transitioned into sweethearts who planned a perfect future together right down to the smallest marriage, four kids, and running their families’ hardware store. But a few days before prom night, Boone witnesses something that will cause his future dreams to come tumbling down like a house of cards, and he’ll question the forever kind of love he thought he had with Emma. Unable to deal with his disillusions, he leaves his sweet country girl in the red Texas dust. By the time he grows up and realizes the mistake he’s made, it’s too late. When he returns to Simple, Texas, that sweet country girl has grown into an independent, feisty woman who wants only one to make the lowdown sidewinder who left her high and dry pay. And pay big time!
After having her heart stomped into smithereens, Emma Johansen is not about to forgive and forget. If Boone thinks he can strut back into town and pick up right where they left off, he’s got another think coming. Emma’s no longer a naïve lamb to lead astray. And it will take more than a teasing smile from Boone to knock down the stone fortress she’s built around her heart. The only problem is that Boone’s parents own half the hardware store so he has just as much right to work there as she does. Working daily with her worst enemy will have sparks flying and townsfolk gossiping about whether or not Boone and Emma will mend their fences or kill each other. The only way to settle their ongoing battle is with a first person who gets engaged wins the store. The loser has to leave town forever. Game on! But Emma will soon learn that there’s a fine line between hate and love. One misstep . . . or mis-kiss and not only is sole ownership of the store on the line, but also Emma’s heart. Yet, how can she trust Boone after he rode off into the sunset without her?
Is it too late for a second chance romance for these feuding ex-sweethearts? Or can they put past betrayal behind them and place another wager . . . this time, on love?
Katie Lane is the USA Today bestselling author of the Deep in the Heart of Texas, Hunk for the Holidays, Overnight Billionaires, Tender Heart Texas, Bad Boy Ranch, Kingman Ranch, Holiday Ranch series. Katie lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and when she isn’t writing, she enjoys reading, traveling, and cuddling with her high school sweetheart and cairn terrier, Roo.
Boone & Emma have been childhood friends & lovers. At 18, they had plans to get married & have babies but on prom night, Boone witnesses something . Devastated and thinking love sucks, he cruelly tells Emma that he doesn't want to marry her and that they should experience life & other relationships and not settle down.
He then leaves for College and ghosts her for 7 years. upon his return, he attempts to get back with her but she is hurt, angry & disillusioned by him love and they have an angry/hate type relationship (mostly Emma) for the next 4 yrs.
in all the time years they were apart, Emma dates OM & Boone flits and "makes out" (described as mostly kissing) with many OW in his couch which Emma has a front-view seat. This was supposedly his way of trying to make her jealous. Lol.
He states he was living as a Monk for 4 years but we never learned if he slept with anyone else which he was gone those 7 yrs and nor anything about Emma's sexual history either.
It takes more then 955 of the story for anything romantic to happen to them and while she finds out about what he had seen, he never actually tells her why he left and what HE saw. So this was not much of an entertaining story or anything that I can label as "romance".
As for safety, I would leave it to people to judge if it is safe or not since they weren't technically together and both kissed and possibly did more with OP. The fact is though, that author wants us to believe this couple were soulmates and meant to be and that is NOT what i was left feeling after reading it. The opposite in fact....
In this book # 7 Kate Lane takes us back to Simple Texas, and the Bad Boy Ranch series. We have met Boone and Emma in all the other books. Boone is not really part of the Bad Boy Ranch, but has been friends with all the Bad Boys and Emma has lived in the same town as Boone. They have been friends since their childhood. Their mothers were friends and they were part of each other's families. Boone and Emma have had feelings for each other since their teen years, but all of that stops the night of their Senior Prom, when Boone went a little bit of the rails after seeing something that changed his life forever. He never told Emma what that was and it was the catalyst that changed the direction for them both. Boone left for collage, broke Emma’s heart and never returned home after collage. Then Boone moves back to town 11 yrs later and Emma and Boone make their working relationship in the store owned by their parents a battle ground. Until the parents want to sell the store and they move toward trying to come to some sort of compromise to who will get the store. Who will be the winner in this bid to buy the store...And how will again change their lives.
I loved how Katie Lane gave us a glimpse of Emma and Boone throughout the other books and teased us with their relationship and what was the real cause of the animosity between the two. She weaves the story so you are immersed in Boon and Emma and why Boone and Emma are at odds with one another. You will love getting to know them and we get a visit with the other people in Simple Texas we have come to know in Katie’s other books in this story. Of course, the book would not be the same if we did not have Miss Gertie and her sage and caustic wisdom.. Another hit for Katie Lane and her sexy Bad Boys of Simple Texas who find love with feisty, true blue Texas gals and get their HEA.
I’m so glad Boone and Emma got their own book. They have been not angry but really going at it for years. It was really nice to find out their back story. They’ve been through some struggles but came out on top.
Katie Lane has hit a home run with Emma and Boone's story! Taming a Texas Tease is the seventh book in Ms. Lane's Bad Boy Ranch series. Readers have seen the snips and snipes of hostility between Emma Johansen and Boone Murphy as they run their parents' hardware store in Simple, Texas throughout the earlier books in the series. Now we see why they have such a contentious relationship. This is a powerful story of two past lovers finding their way back to each other. I am thrilled that Katie Lane decided to write their story.
I received an ARC in exchange for a honest review.
On this next visit to Simple, Texas we go along for the happy ever after of Boone Murphy and Emma Johansen; however, there is a lot of doubt if this will ever happen. Boone broke Emma’s heart 11 years ago and she has been spitting mad ever since. Their parents have allowed these two to run their hardware store and it is become a very hostile battleground for Boone and Emma as well as the entire town. After the parents decide to sell the store Boone and Emma has to figure out who gets the store. Along the way a hidden truth must come to light before forgiveness can take place.
I have absolutely adored this series about the Double Diamond bad boys. After the last bad boy had his HEA I was pleasantly surprised that we were going to get another book in this series to find out the history between secondary characters, Boone and Emma. This story is without a doubt my favorite in this series. There is a lot of fun and hysterical dialogue between not only the H and H but many of the towns people who round out this story quite nicely. It was so much fun to find out how all the Diamond “boys” and their families were doing as well as get to visit with some of the unique members of the town! There is a bit of heartbreak in this story but much forgiveness as well. Taming A Texas Tease was a beautiful romance that left me with a big sigh at “the end”.
Nothing is simple between Boone Murphy and Emma Johansen relationship. They grew up together and were so close Growing up and dated ,but something happened on prom night and nothing has been the same . Can they stop hurting each other and put the past where it belongs or will they finally move on in different directions? This book was absolutely fantastic and for all of us waiting for their story Katie did not disappoint us. I felt their emotions and heartbreak and chemistry and love and frustration with each other. We also got to see those wonderful residents of simple Texas and I am absolutely excited for the next book.
I was waiting for this book for so long and it did not disappoint! We finally get the backstory to why Emma and Boone are always sniping at each other and what a story. But their chemistry is undeniable and it was finally great to see them together and find out what was behind their rivalry/hate. They're both great characters and despite not being from the Bad Boy Ranch, they fit right into the wonderful group that we have come to love from Simple, Texas. And we still get to see all our beloved characters from the previous books which makes returning to Simple, so much more fun!
Boone and Emma go back to elementary grades. Friends and high school sweethearts until Boone sees something and leaves the town of Simple, Texas. Years later he returns. Can there be forgiveness? A second chance romance where Emma and Boone fight their feelings. Will there be a happy ever after? Love the chemistry between Boone and Emma. Started reading it and couldn’t put it down. Definitely a late night read.
Loved Emma and Boone’s story. This was a fun read with lots of great chemistry between the characters. I loved Miss Gertie in this story and how everyone was pulling for them to mend their fences. A sweet and heartwarming read. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Finally Boone and Emma's story and why they were always so grouchy with each other - such a great love lesson to learn! Loved reading this story and revisiting with characters from previous books in the series. I read a beta pdf version
