Clear all the dungeons! There are 666 of them and 10 years to do it. If not, the only thing that awaits...is total annihilation. Ezoe Kazuhiko suddenly finds a mysterious underground space in his yard. When he steps into what turns out to be the very first dungeon in this world, he ends up activating the Dungeon System and learns from the mysterious beauty who appears to him, Akane, that the world is doomed to destruction if the 666 total dungeons that will be appearing in this world are not all cleared within 10 years. As countries begin taking measures in response to the dungeons appearing all over the world, Ezoe seeks out companions together with whom he establishes Dungeon Busters Inc., a company dedicated to clearing all the dungeons in the world! The curtains rise on this dungeon-delving epic with overwhelming realism!
Dungeon Busters is an interesting twist to the genre. How would the real world react to dungeons appearing in peoples' backyards. It is a good mix of dungeon crawling, a light sprinkling of a system, with the focus to some extent on economics and politics. At times the story does feel a bit clinical, especially the interactions between certain characters, and the author should avoid certain points of views since the caricatures that are the result are at times exasperating. Some of the comments by the MC (and considering the world does not react) are not always women friendly - not in typical ecchi way (unlike what the cover might suggest), but through offhand comments like "the monsters are so weak that even women can kill them" or "killing these cute rabbits would be especially hard for women". Still, overall an enjoyable read.
Looked like a decent new light novel series, what I read of it seemed like a good start but the big problem is that this is £5.41 for 28 pages, when I pre ordered it on the 2nd of Jan I'm pretty sure it said 217 pages. I've checked the j-novel club site and they have another 9 parts in the members section for volume 1 which would take it up to a normal light novel size but at this rate it'll cost over £50 for a complete volume. Unless they've made a mistake and released a sample instead of volume 1 best avoid at all costs
I did not see parental guidance or warning (sexual situations). Because this light novel series targets minors, young adult readers, I think they should have some kind of warning because author prioritizes sexual situations above everything else. So much so, that series becomes Harem series. Well, at least the first 100 pages, then the author's interest changes as Ezoe Kazuhiko, main character, gains experience and money. The main purpose of the main character is mining the dungeon (exploiting the things gotten from the dungeon and trying to gain and defeat as many dungeons as possible. The world has turned into a Dungeon festival with 560-666 dungeons (in each world) to be created in 10 waves all around the planet. The main character, gets lucky (pun), and receives not only a Dungeon in his back yard, but an assistant that is competent not only in melee and martial arts fighting but in sexual services (has an ability that measures sexual prowess called sex technique). I do not know it technically these subordinates are "prostitutes" or some kind of enslaved subordinate (because I did not read that the main character payed his subordinate for her "labors" and "duties"). The emphasis the author places in the first 100 pages of volume one of this series is 1) sexual encounters 2) paying taxes even though authorities aren't responsible when citizens get hurt or worse while at the dungeons 3) actually delving into de Dungeon. So this is not a Dungeon Delving light novel series per se. If you don't like series where the action and adventure are not prioritized, then this light novel series might not be for you. The awards and prizes in these dungeons are payed out in cash money. Each monster defeated gives a monster card that can be exchanged at a gacha machine. There are also weapons, artifacts, potions, etc. Main character's greed takes hold so he creates a company (Dungeon Busters) and a brand to take over dungeons all over the world (so as to make more money). This is the reason behind the title Dungeon Busters (when main character creates company they become professionals of the Dungeon Delving business.) (Dungeon Busters). Gacha machines are gambling. They are like slot machines with prizes instead of cash money prizes. Most countries do not permit minors from gambling but allow kids to gamble in gacha machines in almost all MMORPG games online. When someone has completed and defeated an entire dungeon, they have the choice to become the dungeon master or to close the dungeon down. Dungeons have difficulty¿ levels from S to D (S,A,B.C.D). If a Dungeon is not completed, after a certain amount of time, Dungeon Stampedes (where all the monsters within a dungeon escape and deal damage to everybody outside). Subordinates raise their levels with experience in using their abilities and skills. Subordinates can only "exist" and "appear" in their physical forms within the areas of the dungeons. Dungeon Delving is not original. Having dungeons spawn all around the world is not original either. There are much better Dungeon Delving series out there. (Dungeon Maker, Lazy Dungeon Master, Infinite Competitive Dungeon Society, Dungeon Hunter, Death March to a Parallel World Rhapsody, Arifureta, Re:Monster) If you read Westerner authors, then there are lots in the LitRPG dungeon delving and dungeon core novels series. This first volume has 300+ pages with illustrations, cover page and informational pages. Volume has only 4 chapters and one side story. There are three versions of this first volume, the first 100 pages (mostly sex) second 100 (improving skills and artifacts through exchange of monster cards at the gacha machine, third 100 pages actual dungeon delving but emphasis more on strategies and anecdotes that main character has in his 40 years of life. It feels as if author suffers maybe of ADD (Attention deficit disorder) or simply gets bored with the themes that he covered and then just changes the content. Because dungeons are not considered "Japanese territories" anything done in the dungeons are not considered in the criminal code. Main character Ezoe Kazuhiko kept secret the initial opening of the dungeons (so as to mine the most from them) but always controlled the monsters inside (most of the time his group is Dungeon Delving.
The book is set in 2019 and gos into 2020 has the story progressed do the author set in the modern world the story follows a modern 40ish Japanese male there are naughty actions between the MC and a female heroine do it’s off screen making this an R-15 type light novel with it’s slightly violent fight scenes. Do I fell I should say something about the author name sense is offfor some reason he changes countries names but keeps Japans name the same in story.
Ex. Gamerica( I think it means greedy America) Oriental Republic of Sinia( China but idotic to call other Asians that in nations name) Kingdom of Ko(I guess Korea never split in half) Kanada( Canada really dumb author naming)
The story is a realistic in everything else from the attempt at what should happen to the world if dungeons really appeared one do I felt the author ignored religious notions and stuck to more scientific thinking in use of the dungeon system and how an average person should figure it out.
The story has good fight scenes not crazy super magic hero fights no this is down and dirty fist fights with magic has a sim-usage has that power is used by side chacthers not the MC. The author made a a story that’s real real to the reader even do it has fantasy elements it connects to the reader that they them selfs can get into the mindset of the chacthers showing the potential for the authours to make a great book.
Terrible. The main concept is stolen from other books of course. If you want to read a good book where dungeons spawn all over the world, read Dungeon Crawler Carl.
The main character is a moron who loves tables and stats. He doesn't share the most key information with the rest of the world.... that the world will be destroyed in 10 years, if they don't manage to clear the dungeons. This is completely insane. Getting out that info is the most important thing he could do.
The MC is for some reason the only one who is good at dungeon diving, and it makes no sense why. There are way better people out there in the world.
The dungeons are the most boring things ever. One floor only has 1 type of enemy.... like what? And they just kill 100,000 of the same enemy to rank up. Zero interesting fights.
I could list an endless number of things that are stupid about this book, but it isn't worth it.

I was glad to see that the insane sexpot was not a major part of the story. I enjoyed the overall idea and hope that it gets expanded upon. That being said, I did get tired of all the stats/math describing how long it would take to collect cards and figure out the drop rates and all. If you removed that you'd have taken out a good 10% of the book.
This book tell of dungeon diving in the present, I like how the book just suck you in and can't stop reading until at the very end. It also has some funny parts and some you think the main character is crazy! All in all a wonderful book that I highly recommend.
It was quite dull, mainly because of the tedious main character. It’s quite an achievement to be surrounded by fantasy and remain boring, but he does it. Not in a funny way, unfortunately.
Another apocalypse type novel. The main character has ability to card gacha from the monsters drop in the suddenly appeared dungeons all over the world, and the storage could be unlimited.
After some issues with page length which prompted to give this a one star review, the issue was corrected and I was able to read the story. This is a phenomenal start to a series! The isekai genre is so overplayed that you don't get surprised much, but Dungeon Buster's managed to hit one out of the park! The idea of placing the fantasy world amidst modern Japan and the world at large is genius and the story plays out in such a way that you can believe that it would go down exactly as depicted. This is a much darker tone that most light novels I have read in the past but one of the better ones by far! Can't wait for the next volume!
